My favourite Chang moment from now on is when he plays weed and gets beaten by kids after telling them he will eat their mama's face.
The mannerisms, the lines, the delivery, all iconic.

Having a period is so weird because for most of the month you're relatively okay and normal and then a few days before period starts you suddenly cry to a Taylor Swift song and you don't even know why.
And of course then the period comes and at best you have light cramps, at worst you suffer a pain so terrible you can't even move.
Having a vagina is fun!

Omfg, complaining helped! The chapter is published, all is good in the world, please excuse this tantrum.
You don't know the real pain until you finish correcting the chapter and right when you want to upload it, AO3 throws you an error.

I have this stupid habit of writing in my word file and then correcting it directly on AO3 before posting to add/change some things.
Guess I'll change my approach now.
This is fine.

I finished watching ATLA live action and I've loved it! Yes, it's not the same as the original but it doesn't make it good.
Zuko and Iroh have beautiful bond and I loved scenes with them. Katara was badass in Northern Pole, Sokka was awesome, Aang was great. Overall I liked the show a lot.
Of course, there were things I didn't enjoy/could have been better. The dialogue and delivery was sometimes off to me, the scenes with Azula and Ozai, while giving us more context, make Ozai sort of... Weak? He's this powerful Fire Lord but Azula says to him whatever she wants without consequences. Yes, Azula is his favourite, but she should be respectful. Ozai's main trait is that he's cruel and prideful. I just don't feel he would be okay with Azula openly questioning him and telling him she has enough of his games.
From the things I loved: Kuruk!!! It's nice to see him and get to have more scenes with him and build on his story. He's cool. I also like how the siege of the Northern Water Tribe was shown, how there were victims for both sides and how powerful Aang as Ocean Spirit was. And I loved the fact that Sokka and Hahn weren't in a dick measuring contest and instead were cool with each other. And I feel like they want to make the Fire Nation Royal Family a little more complicated, or at least flesh out Ozai. In the cartoon he was one dimensional. I wonder how will they explore him if the show gets another season.
I feel like some people who don't like this show are too blinded by the nostalgia for the original cartoon. While yes, the cartoon was amazing, it also had flaws. But we ignored them because the overall story and characters are great. Here, we also have a cool story and characters. But somehow, the flaws are exaggerated simply because "in the cartoon it was different". Can we just like both shows? Can we accept that live action adaptation will be different from the original cartoon? Change doesn't have to be negative.

Controversial opinion (maybe).
I've just rewatched episode 10 of season 6 of Community and you know what? Abed was so annoying this episode I'm not even surprised Jeff slapped him.
Of course what Jeff did was terrible and he shouldn't have done it. But do I understand his frustration? Yes. For the whole episode Abed doesn't do anything to help, he actively plays pretend with the flashbacks. While the whole group is arguing and stuck in the middle of nowhere, getting cold, Abed still doesn't understand the situation.
So I can imagine why Jeff slapped him. Emotions were running high, the situation was terrible and everyone was already frustrated. Of course it wasn't the right thing to do, of course Jeff shouldn't have done it. And it is shown that when all other characters immediately raise their voices at Jeff and protest.
But at the same time, Abed is coddled this episode and honestly? For me, this episode is not funny at all, and Abed annoys me.

I'm on the 5th episode of live action ATLA and so far I enjoy watching it. Is it the perfect copy of the original cartoon? No. Does this make it bad? Also no!
There are changes to the story and characters but for me it doesn't make it that bad. I don't treat this show as the perfect retelling of the cartoon, just a different version of the story. And honestly? With that mindset watching the show is better.
Of course, this show is not without flaws. Zuko's scar is tiny, Aang doesn't really get to be kid that much, Sokka lost his misogyny, Katara lost her anger.
But at the same time, I feel like the change of their character traits works. Aang isn't thinking only about fun because he feels guilty for abandoning the world. From the first episode people tell him that because he was absent, the war went on. Of course Aang will want to help others now. Of course he will think of going to North Pole, especially since Kiyoshi told him to go there.
Sokka lost his misogyny but he still has different traits. He's struggling to be a warrior, he doesn't think that his engineering skills are worthy pursuing. His scenes with Suki are for me at least adorable to watch. They are both awkward in different ways because this is the first time they see someone from their opposite sex from a different nation. Of course Sokka would want to flex. Of course Suki would try to show off her fighting skills - she's a god damned Kiyoshi warrior and a daughter of the ruler of the village, of course skills in a fight will be her major focus.
Katara lost her anger, true. I think the scene with discovering Aang is weak. But she still gets a mini arc about her emotions and grief/PTSD from the night her mother died. She still is shown as brave when she decides to go against Zuko and his crew alone while Aang was talking to Kiyoshi. And she still has her morals during Omashu.
So for every disappointment, I feel we get something in exchange. At least in the first 4 episodes.
I really like how they empathize the war and how cruel it is. And also that even in Fire Nation there are rebels who oppose Ozai. Sozin's attack at Air Nomads was heartbreaking, seeing how the Air Nomads fought but ultimately lost due to comet was chilling. I feel that people blaming Aang and accusing him of running away and disappearing is also well done because that's something that would happen. People would lost hope, people would try to test Aang or accuse him.
Also, as a Kataang disliker, I am SO glad that so far, I don't see any romantic/cute scenes with Katara and Aang. The secret tunnel is great because we don't have implied kiss between Katara and Aang, instead we are shown a sibling love. I hope this trend continues and that Katara and Aang won't have any romantic scenes. I mean, the kid is 12, Katara is 14 and she had to grow up really fast. She's more like an older sister to him than a potential crush.
Overall, so far I like this show. It's not as awesome and true to the source material as One Piece live action (because OPLA IS the best live action adaptation, go watch it!) but it's still a nice watch. I feel like some people just don't want to give this show a chance simply because it's not the original. Like, why we can't have both?

am I the only one who just... didn't get the whole episode about jeff being "jealous" because annie was dating rich? first of all, he was very interested and was teasing annie about her dating someone. he only got mad when he noticed it was rich, because he hates rich and wouldn't like any of his friends being with him. also, annie said "jeff, you need to figure out if you like me or not" or something like girlie didn't he say that he regretted the kiss????
Even at the end of the episode, Jeff runs in the rain not to Annie, but to Rich. It's a twist of the normal cliché and I was happy about the first time I watched it.
I can't say for sure but I also think the reason why Jeff was upset about Annie dating Rich, apart from the fact it was Rich, was because Rich is almost as old as Jeff. Because yes, Jeff said he regretted the kiss, but then we later learn he still feels attraction towards Annie. So maybe one of the reasons he was jealous was the fact that Rich – a man almost as old as him – "gets to be" with Annie despite the glaring age difference and all of the study group is okay with that (which is still kind of icky for me because I feel like at least Shirley would be a little opposed of Annie, a 19 years old still innocent and naive at times, dating a 30 something years old guy). Because in seasons 2 and 3 we have other characters commenting and pointing out (like in this model UN episode) that Jeff and Annie's relationship is unclear: is it parental bond, friendship or romantic love, or all of them at the same time? So Jeff would be jealous of how easy it is for Rich to date Annie while he struggles to even understand what he feels at this point of the story.
That's my justification of this jealousy act. I'm just glad that this jealous act lasted only for one episode. Imagine if this arc with Annie dating Rich was longer? I would die from cringe.
Thanks for the ask!
