Jim eating his textbooks is just a mood. He knows he shouldn't eat them but can't help it. Poor guy is a growing troll so I won't be surprised if he has a bigger appetite.

I can imagine him being in Blinkys library... or are troll books made from a different material so that they don't get eaten? Or do trolls just don't eat their history books?

Fun fact! Those movies are actually banned in UK and other countries from how realistically disgusting the graphic details were. Even the mockumentary is banned. I won't be surprised if everyone decides to toss the movie out later.
