So I wanted to quickly draw out Sadie's new outfit. She usually wears it when they aren't on earth, as it's specifically designed for space travel/protection. Not sure if I like the ear flaps or if I'll get rid of them. What do you think?

A simple sketch idea that didn't come out exactly how I imagined it but eh. Eventually, Sadie joins the Guardians of the Galaxy. Along with her love, she gains a new outfit, and more importantly- a (mostly) welcoming family that are just as much a bunch of outcasts as she is. Oddly enough, Sadie and Rocket quickly became friends. Both of them lived their entire lives feeling like total outcasts, after all. Anyway, I might someday fully shade this and add a background, but I won't hold my breath lol.

Can people STOP👏DOING👏THIS👏
Quite frankly, it's embarrassing that in 2021 I'm still getting messages like this. Unless I specifically say I'm going to do requests (which I do MAYBE once a year if I feel like it- and more often than not it's watcher exclusive/for friends), DO NOT ASK.
When you ask an artist for a "free request" (which is redundant btw), you're telling them, "I like your art- but not enough to pay for your services. People like this aren't supporters of your work- they go around to any artist they can find and spam the same question, hoping some will do it out of the kindness of their hearts. The saddest thing is, a LOT do.
Honestly, this behaviour just perpetuates the idea that art isn't "real work", especially for stylised art such as mine. But if that's the case, you can simply put in the years of practice, study, and work I have put in, and still continue to do, and draw your own damn picture.
I'm normally so patient and polite with comments like this, but that isn't getting through to people.
DO NOT ASK ME FOR REQUESTS.
If you truly want to support me, you can like, comment, fave- and if you really want, commission me!
Requests are NOT support.

A couple of cute sketches to practice drawing these two. I think I pretty much have Sadie down- but Peter is driving me nuts! I'm trying to find a good balance between keeping him in my style, yet still resembling Chris Pratt. I think I'm getting close, but not quite there yet!
I liked both of these enough that I decided to write a couple of little snippets to go along with these, so I'll post them below in order from right to left (this is because of the chronological order of these moments)
Anyway, here we go!
Star-Lord snickered, barely trying to mask it at all.
"What's so funny?" Sadie demanded with a growl, her arms folded tightly against her chest. She was only avoiding disposing of this idiot because...well he was rescuing her from an explosion after all, and she didn't feel like dying today.
"Just your little heart there," he nodded in the direction of the heart-shaped cutout of her suit. "It's oddly adorable. Like, who designed that? Was it you? 'Cause you're meant to be evil, right?" He continued to laugh some more despite Sadie's growls growing increasingly louder.
"Bite your tongue, Star-Lord." she hissed, feeling her face growing warm as she stared him down.
"At least I'm not the one named Tabby-Cat!" he exclaimed defensively, finally landing on a building safe from the explosion zone.
"The name's Menagerie!" Sadie glowered, her cheeks still warm. She dusted herself off as he released her from his grip, pondering her next move.
Star-Lord stood there, staring her down for a moment. "Eh, Tabby-Cat suits you better." he said with a surprising amount of earnestness.
Sadie stared back at him quizzically. He was by far the strangest man she'd ever met, and he was only a regular human.
"Uhh...thanks."
She surveyed the building, eyeing a fire escape she could scale. With a leap and a jump, Sadie perched herself atop the metal bars of the fire escape. Star-Lord made no move to incapacitate her, instead beginning to tug at the threads of his torn shirt. He touched a few fingers to his chest, finding blood on them as he pulled them back.
Sadie found herself gnawing on the inside of her cheek, an unusual sense of guilt filling her. She cleared her throat awkwardly.
"Oh, err...sorry about the scratches. All's fair in love and war, right?" she let out a small laugh, swallowing her pride.
Star-Lord seemed as caught off-guard by her apology as she was, even if only for a moment before his cocky persona was back on full display.
"Love and war, huh?" he said, a sly smile creeping upon his face, "and which scenario was this?"
Sadie simply raised an eyebrow at him, unamused.
"See you next time, but then I won't be so friendly." She leapt down through the fire escape, and leapt to the next building, swinging her way through an open window. As she escaped, she could faintly hear Star-Lord yelling something to her.
"Lookin' forward to it, Menagerie!"
**
“Gotcha!” Peter was shocked to find himself being held in the surprisingly strong hands of…an X-Men? He felt himself blushing as he stared into very familiar eyes.
“Heh...nice catch,” he rubbed the back of his head awkwardly, “would you mind putting me down, now? This is pretty emasculating.” He admitted, not taking his eyes off the masked hero, a puzzled expression ever growing on his face. Her smirk only grew wider, as she complied with his request.
“You don’t recognise me? I’m hurt. Though it has been a few years since I saw you last...” She clutched her chest dramatically, then removed her mask with her free hand. Peter felt himself light up as he finally remembered where he knew this girl from.
“Menagerie, right??” he exclaimed, clicking his fingers enthusiastically. “I knew you looked familiar! So you’re a good guy now, huh?”
She shrugged demurely, “Yeah, for about a year now,” she seemed uncharacteristically sheepish as she spoke, “But I’m not really Menagerie anymore.”
Ignoring the gunshots and fighting on the building above them, Peter placed his hands on his hips and raised an eyebrow at her.
“Oh yeah?” he asked, “so what do they call you then?”
She sighed, “Tabby-Cat.”
Peter burst into a fit of laughter, “Oh that’s great, it really suits you, ya know.”
She rolled her eyes, “So I’ve been told-”
“HEY! Are you two knuckleheads going to help us, or are you just gonna stand around chit-chatting all damn day?!” bellowed an X-Men with giant metal claws as he took down a robot with one slash.
“Sorry Logan!” Tabby-Cat called, quickly turning to Peter. “Ready to fight on the same side for once?” She smirked, stretching out her hands, her cat-like claws extending in anticipation.
“Hell yeah.” Peter replied, removing his guns from their holsters, and the two rejoined the battle together.

So you may have seen recently I made a poll about who I should ship my oc, Sadie ( www.deviantart.com/animalpaint… ) with. It turned out to be a three-way tie between Quicksilver, Wolverine and Star-Lord, so I asked my partner to be the final vote and he picked good ol' Peter Quill! Honestly, I really like the idea of these two together, sorry Gamora ;_; Anyway, while scrolling on Tumblr, I saw this super cute drawing of Peter roller skating, and I LOVED that, so it inspired this idea, in which Peter has been teaching Sadie how to roller skate (which is especially tricky for someone who doesn't ever wear shoes)!
“Come on, I know you can go faster than that!” Peter laughed, glancing behind him to see Sadie speeding around the corner with a slick skid. As dust trailed behind them, the two of them exchanged competitive grins.
“Oh gimme a break!” Sadie snarled playfully, “You’ve been doing this a lot longer than me, and it’s basically neck and neck!”
Peter chuckled inwardly, starting to pick up more speed as they came to a slight incline. Sadie growled lowly, moving her legs as quickly as possible, knowing that he was far more agile in any sort of footwear than she’d ever be. Peter was struggling not to laugh now, as he whirled around, somehow keeping his pace whilst skating backwards.
He stretched out his arms in a would-be casual shrug, “You sure about that, Kitten?” He sneered daringly at Sadie, whose entire body was now tense, her fur standing on end.
“Oh I know you did not just call me that.” She growled yet again, but if Peter showed any concern over angering her, he didn’t show it. He shrugged again, spinning around so his back was to her. Big mistake.
“Hey Peter,” Sadie called out, “call me kitten one more time.”
Peter didn’t hesitate.
“KIT-” He had no time to finish the final syllable, as Sadie had lunged right at him, tackling him to the ground in a tumble. The two of them topsy-turvied over each other, eventually rolling to a stop in some soft, dewy grass. Peter made no attempt to get up as he groaned in pain, yet Sadie still pinned his chest down, situating herself atop of him. Despite her glower looming over him, he gave her a warm smile.
“I take that as you forfeit?” He placed his arms behind his head, taking in the woman before him.
She rolled her eyes, “Whatever,” she leant down, her lips barely grazing his, “You might beat me at this, but I’m still the better fighter. And dancer.” she added quickly, pecking his lips before pushing herself up and stretching. Peter shot to his feet almost immediately, eyes burning into hers.
“Whoa whoa whoa!” he held up his hands, “You can take me in battle any day, I’ll give you that, but I will die before I admit you’re a better dancer than me!”
Peter smiled playfully, wrapping his arms around Sadie's waist, and resting his chin in the crook of her neck. She leaned against him softly, allowing herself to smile.
"I know, I just wanted to annoy you." They both let out a chuckle, and Peter kissed her cheek.
Peter sighed, taking her hand in his, "Come on, let's get you home."

Generally, what is your process for choosing what poses you draw your characters in? They're always so creative and dynamic! I struggle with coming up with non-stagnant poses ;_; love your art! <3
Thank you so much!! owo
As far as advice goes, here’s some of the things I do when I draw posing uwu
-First things first!  Know the character you’re drawing. I don’t mean like You know the character’s name and design, what I mean is know the character’s personality! Understanding the character’s way of reaction and interacting their environment will help put a bit of life in your drawings, because how one character carries themselves is different from anyone else. This is especially helpful for “static” poses, which can still be interesting depending on how you go about it!
For example: a simple standing pose! They aren’t doing anything crazy, just standing there. HOWEVER, a shy character might hunch in on themselves, look away from the viewer or have their heads turned away from the viewer, look like they’re trying to make themselves as small as possible. Meanwhile, a cocky, showy character might have a wide stance, their hands and arms are almost always out and away from their bodies, they look directly at the viewer, their head’s held high; they’re engaging the viewer directly instead of shying away from them. Stuff like that helps me better get a grasp of how I can pose my character to show as much of their personality as I can! :)
-Are you going for something more subtle, or something more dynamic? This part generally depends on the context of the picture, but subtlety can be just as engaging as something dynamic. This can and does apply to the entire pose as a whole, but I think it might be at it’s strongest when dealing with expression on the face, specifically because no matter what pose the character might be in, the human instinct is to look at the face first, and to continuously return to the face as you take the body in. It’s reading the entirety of the language you have in front of you, if that makes sense!
-SO! You now know the character’s personality and how they carry themselves, you have a general idea of the pose you want, you know the expression and overall feel you’re going for. TIME TO GATHER REFS! Never ever ever ever feel bad about using a reference. Hell I will always highly recommend gathering refs regardless of whether or not you know what you’re drawing, it honestly just helps in the long run! The refs in question doesn’t have to be the exact same as what you’re drawing either, they could just give you inspiration or have the overall feel of the energy you’re going for.
-Draw rough first! Get the foundation of your drawing down first before you even attempt at linework. Sometimes what I do is draw the general pose I want in at least 2 different angles before I settle; I experiment with the base idea to see what best fits what I want and what is more interesting in a general sense. The foundation is basically the bread and butter here; it gets a lot of the guesswork out of the way without sacrificing a lot of time, because the point here is to get the pose down in general, not make it pretty. Once you have a good base to work with, you can then spend your time making it all nice and pretty uwu
If it helps any, here’s a quick example of the stages my art generally goes through. Using a commission I did for BayCatPeryton of their character Bermuda! owo
----
1: Reference stage. I have at least 2 references of the character I’m gonna be drawing and a couple of images that represent the general idea of what I want. I had a solid idea of what I wanted, so i ended up going with fewer references than what I typically do. Basic idea: Big bad woof having fun in the leaves! I wanted the pose to be overhead and more animal-like to better capture genuine fun, so I went with doggies for my ref subjects! :3
Tumblr media
2: Rough sketch. Note that this is super super sketchy! This is because I’m not at all trying for something pretty, I’m going for getting the overall pose to a point that I like. I did two other tries before I settled on this one, which I chose because it fit what I wanted: something full of energy, almost as if she’s lunging at the camera while playing. I actually had a bit of a challenge with it because of the perspective, so the rough sketch also helps in hammering out the broad details of foreshortening and so forth before I go to pretty it up owo
Tumblr media
3: Final lines. There she is, pretty and ready to go! owo Whenever I do perspective work like this and it involves a character what I like to do is play with the lineweight, which is basically how thin or thick the line is. The heavier the line, the closer it is to the viewer, and thinner means farther; it helps push the feel I want! :3
Tumblr media
4. Done! Added the colors, lighting, some leaves for extra oomph (and to immerse her more in the picture) and the painted BG (painted with the same perspective in mind) to make it the package deal! uwu

I hope this was at least some help! owo

I've been getting back into Xmen lately, and I remembered an old OC of mine that I made about...10 years ago! Yikes. This is her original design for comparison: sta.sh/055tdv70lw0 Anyway, onto the bio! The outfits you see from left to right are as such: Casual wear, skin, Brotherhood clothes, and her X-Men uniform Name: Sadie (surname unknown) Alias: Menagerie/Tabby-Cat Age: 24 Sex: Female Powers: Animal-like strength, hearing, and reflexes. Able to communicate with most animals. Backstory: Sadie was abandoned at birth, and was forced to spend most of her early life living at a circus specifically designed for mutants. There, she actually seemed somewhat happy for a while, until she was old enough to want more than to be forced to perform for "regular" humans. It wasn't until she was 14, that her circus was raided by the Brotherhood, and she was taken in under people who truly seemed to care about her well-being. She joined them willingly, and believed for years that humans were as bad as they said. Eventually, however, she would join the X-Men, when she was 19. Personality: Sadie is brash, unapologetic, and fiercely loyal to those she deems worthy. She is guarded, and a show off, and often finds her arrogance can be her downfall. She is skilled in hand-to-hand combat, and knows it. Fun facts: - Sadie's code name was supposed to be "Menagerie", and she still tries to make people call her as such. Unfortunately for her, news nicknamed her "Tabby-Cat", and it stuck. - Despite looking cat-like, Sadie can communicate not only with felines, but most other animals. She has trouble with certain species though, as they often have different "accents". Her ability to communicate doesn't mean that she can control them, only that she is more easily able to befriend them. - She looks up to Logan, and very quickly developed feelings for him as his student. - She more often than not finds it difficult to socialise with others, and mostly keeps to herself in everyday situations. Though that doesn't mean she doesn't like anyone, she is honestly just incredibly awkward.

My version of Sisu from Raya and the Last Dragon ^^ I tried to mostly keep her colour scheme/overall look similar enough that she would be recognisable, but different enough that she fits more into the world than the official design does.

Just a little warm up sketch I did that I actually really liked, so I finished it! A beautiful mermaid deity, whose hair IS the sea. She smells like the beach and glistens like the sun.
