how to deal with depression when you are trying to be a hard-working student
let yourself sleep a bit more
list all the things you have to do and put them in front of you
you can have as much breaks as you want
do a bit, rest a bit, then repeat
if you want to cry, do cry
talking to a friend really helps
listen to hozier
adapting to an aesthetic really motivates me. for example, i sometimes imagine myself as a student from hogwarts studying dark arts, i wear dark clothes and one of my favorite sweaters or as a student from Oxford (and all those dark academia stuff)
make studying kind of fun. i know it’ll never feel fun when all you want to do is sleep or stare at the ceiling but it’s not impossible. imagine yourself as a professor. use colored papers. buy new pens. reward yourself with an episode of your favorite show after studying one unit. options are endless.
go outside. get in some oxygen.
study outside.
read your notes on your bed. it works no matter what other people say.
you have to plan your day. planning will never disappoint you.
remind yourself that you are capable of achieving your dreams even if your brain makes you believe stupid things. that thing is lying to you. you are much more than how you feel, those feelings are a bunch of chemical reactions. you can beat that.
i love you.
people around you love you.
and you don’t owe anyone anything.
sit on your chair, open your book, close your phone and just try. if you can’t, try again 5 minutes later.

People think dreams aren't real just because they aren't made of matter, of particles. Dreams are real. But they are made of viewpoints, of images, of memories and puns and lost hopes.

day 5/100
Hi everybody, I hope you’re all having a great day, so today I was much more productive than normal, which is great because the pressure is on to finish the course as much as possible. I made mind maps for my play and I love how it turned out.

for as much as studyblr may have its faults, it’s a pretty sizable online space that tells young girls that the absolute coolest thing you can do is be smart and work hard and believe in yourself and i think that’s pretty great

4/100
Hi everyone,
I hope you all had a productive day. Today I annotated one poem only, but it was long and it had a lot of research added to it, so I have to say that I am quite pleased, I also recently got a planner for my birthday and I love my bullet journal and all but I find that it’s not really working for me so I am set on my way to discover a new way of planning that works for me.

Day 3/100:
Hi everyone,
sorry I have been exceptionally lazy recently, but now I am back into it!
So today I researched two poems and started annotating them and making some mind maps, I also made some cold coffee and it was amazing, also I found these motivational cards and I decided that it seems only right to add them in to motivate everyone

GCSE students
hi everybody,
how many of you would be interested in a GCSE  masterclass, I got a mixture of 7s,8s and 9s last year and I would love to help you all out. If this gets enough notes I will start making a course for all of you interested in it. It will either be on zoom or skill share. I will mainly be talking about GCSEs but anyone doing GCSE equivalents can join in as well. comment down below things you’d like me to cover and we can go through them.

Doing English lit at a level means you can never truly listen to a song just casually anymore cause you become wired to overanalyse. Every. Single. Word.

🌟LANGUAGE LEARNING - READING🌟
(Context: Learning any language entails 4 components on the road to fluency - Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing)
🔹 Start with toddler friendly books - start with picture books and then move up. It might feel redundant to read picture books but, they are great building blogs when you’re just starting.
🔹 Read children’s literature - This not only helps you build your basic but also gives you an insight into the culture. Read short stories, fairy tales, fiction, adventure books etc. Also, children’s books are never just for children
🔹 Using English/translated books - Most of the fairy tales or popular children books have a translated or English counterpart so,
- Read the book in English - Target language (level 1)
- Read the book in Target language - English - Target language (level 2)
- Read the book in Target language ( only look up words or parts you don’t understand (level 3)
🔹 Read kid’s news and magazines- There are some news websites (at least in French) and many kids magazines that you can pick up or download and improve on your reading
🔹 COMICS - They’re great to understand conversations and are absolutely fun. So pick up a couple of comics in your TL or read them online.
I started out (still do) with reading Tintin and Asterix in French
🔹 Reading Newspapers / e-papers - Start with reading the headlines (if you’re just starting out) and move on to the finer text
🔹 Instruction manuals - (Before you raise an eyebrow at me, hear me out.) All appliances and gadgets have a multilingual manual with simple instructions and details. Take a moment to see if you can follow them in your Target language
🔹 Young-Adult and Fiction books - They’re a level above children’s literature and the language is slightly more complex. One of my goals for this year is to read Harry Potter in French
🔹 Classics - Read classics of your TL and classics you’re read before in TL
🔹 You can also read Textbooks in your TL
Feel free to add more!

GET EXCITED. Find some books that you really want to read and make a list of them to motivate yourself. Remind yourself why you like to read. Dredge up that childhood excitement and love.
MAKE IT A PRIORITY. Reading is not a difficult task. It’s just that most of us fail to make it a priority when we factor in the rest of our responsibilities.
ALWAYS CARRY A BOOK WITH YOU. You’re more likely to read if you have a book within reach, for practical reasons and because it’ll remind you of your reading. Bring a novel with you to school or a cafe just in case you find a few minutes to read.
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE LITTLE SLOTS OF TIME. If you take public transportation, read on the bus. Read in the five minutes before class starts. If there is a time slot when you’d usually be browsing your social media to pass the time, read instead. I promise it’ll make you feel a lot better about yourself.
MAKE IT A HABIT. If you’ve decided that you’re going to read on the bus every day, read on the bus every day. Block out a time that is dedicated to reading and make it a habit.
GET OUT OF READING SLUMPS by reading short books, pageturners, or graphic novels to build momentum.
TRACK YOUR PROGRESS. Get a goodreads, make a spread in your bullet journal, keep a spreadsheet, or keep a piece of paper to track what books you’ve read and whether you liked them. It’s satisfying to look back on your year and see how many books you’ve read. You can even keep track of how long you’ve read in a day, or how many pages you’ve read in a day.
INVOLVE OTHER PEOPLE. Buddy read with someone (be it your mom or an internet friend). Watch booktube videos. Join a reading group on Goodreads. Friend me on Goodreads! Involve other people so reading becomes integrated into other aspects of your life.

Hello everyone,
Firstly the major tip that I forgot is
Know your Assessment Objectives!
Here is my first master post of my studyblr, last year I achieved a grade 9 in English Lit and let me tell you all, my journey with English is not as smooth sailing as one would hope.In my year eleven mocks in January of last year I actually got a 4! I was devastated, English has always been something that I enjoyed but I found incredibly difficult. So above, are a few tips and tricks that I learnt.I am sure that this will also apply for other equivalent qualifications as well. I will also talk about writing excellent essays as well.
If you would like me to talk about my journey with English, message me and I will definitely consider.
