QUESTION: “Anakin returning Ahsoka’s lightsabers with a few upgrades was an incredible moment. Did Anakin find a way to alter her kyber crystals to emit blue blades, or did he somehow swap them out entirely?”
DAVE FILONI: “Anakin knows enough about lightsabers to be able to alter the angle or frequency of the saber blade, or crystal, to make it more like his own. As far as the story goes, I wanted to show a clear connection between the Master and Apprentice relationship of Anakin and Ahsoka, so I decided to shift her lightsabers to blue, like Anakin’s.
Him tinkering with her lightsabers while she is gone shows that he was always thinking of her. And the lightsabers are then a representation of her in the story, and his thoughtfulness regarding her.
His changing the color can also be seen as him exerting control, or being too protective, which is very Anakin. He means well, but often takes things too far when trying to express how he feels. Changing the sabers, modifying them, improving them shows his care, but also his ego–something that Ahsoka is familiar with. So the simple adjustment of the lightsaber color serves as many aspects of the relationship between the two characters.”
annoying wacky sidekicks who only exist to elevate the hero are OUT. two equally moronic goofs who both think of each other as the sidekick and themselves as the voice of reason when in fact they're a double helping of dumbass are IN.
I’m still not sure how to explain to non-writers that sometimes characters can just do things without your consent or foreknowledge and there’s not a lot you can do to stop them.
It says a great deal about the mind of Commander Data that… looking at the human race with all its violence and corruption and willful ignorance, he could still see kindness, the immense curiosity and greatness of spirit. And he wanted, more than anything else, to be part of that… to be a part of… the human family.
Ok, but in that last gif, when he glances to the distance then looks down almost disappointedly? It reminds me of A New Hope when Hans asks the radio how they are and he looks disgusted with himself for his own idiocy. That looks to me like Colin hating himself for that terrible Dad joke.
