@mysticaltheoremseeker
Ooh, nice! :D
Also, if you don't mind me saying, at the risk of me being a little egocentric, I read the cataclysm description and can't help thinking of my headcanon that the Scarred Ones mining the planet's Zohar before they were imprisoned damaged the planet's ability to produce new Titans.
Combining The Battra Headcanons
I’ve been toying with this one ever since tosho89 started talking about Battra and his relationship with other Titans, and then I remembered the older posts about Battra not necessarily being a species exactly but being a collective of entities born as vessels of the Planet’s will and I thought about how they could be combined together to give a deeper and more comprehensive look at how Abraxas Battra functions.
Namely, Battra did start out as essentially just one from a wide number of identical ‘Battras’ - just beings born to represent the Will of the Planet, no different from drones in a hive. If you met one ‘Battra’, then you met them all. They were basically mechanical and monotone, referring to fellow Titans by their designated function in the eyes of the Planet and not as actual individuals (for instance, any given Battra would just refer to Mothra as something like “Light Bringer” rather than her name or Ozymandias as “Chosen Scion” or something equally elaborate). Similarly, they themselves just referred to other Battras as 'vessels’ and never anything more - because that’s what they were. Nothing more, nothing less.
It’s only after some unholy cataclysm that ended up wiping out the entire collective that things started to change. Very few can say for certain what the cataclysm was (it was probably Bagan), but it not only destroyed the Battra collective but damaged the Planet so deeply that it was crippled in its ability to create new vessels for its will. It was only via sheer luck that a single vessel survived, and even then said vessel was heavily damaged and on the brink of death.
It was then that the then-current Alpha, Shimo, alongside Ozymandias came to the vessel’s aid. Mothra likewise probably followed soon after.
It took a very long time for the vessel - now christened solely as 'Battra’ - to understand and come to terms with things after it was recovered and nursed back to health. At first, it still thought purely in terms of the almost-mechanical terminology that the Planet conveyed itself through. The Planet still only treated Battra as a vessel to convey its intent, not as a person or an actual Titan in and of itself. But purely by exposure to Mothra, Shimo, and Ozy over time, Battra started to develop a personality of it - his own. Still a voice for The Planet’s Will, but with his own thoughts and opinions on things now that he realized there was more to being the Planet’s defender than just tending to it and ignoring all else - and the Planet came to understand the same.
Battra also probably at first found it odd that Mothra decided to pretty much adopt and christen him her “big brother”. Yes, Battra and his fellow vessels technically predate Mothra’s earliest known physical incarnation, but as a a spiritual existence, Mothra would far predate them as a whole. He got used to it once he developed his current personality, but it still feels a bit strange - even if he’s gotten VERY defensive of Mothra despite the fact she’s more than capable of protecting herself (though realistically, only Mothra, Shimo, Ozy, Battra himself, and Megalon would really know the truth of this since most might just see the similarities between the two and assume they’re actually related beyond just looking alike, not that any of them would ever explain what’s really going on if you ask).
From that perspective, having people to care for and who care for him in turn, a family, is likely still new to Battra and is something that’s hard for him to really process. Which no doubt made Ozy’s capture even worse for him and Shimo’s disappearance on top of that would have all but broke him. It makes sense then that nobody has seen Abraxasverse Battra for so long if the sudden loss of those two made him just return to his solemn duty and he distanced himself from everyone else, with Mothra simply never bringing him up because she didn’t know where he actually was in all that time.
Ooh, interesting. The idea that Battra goes from a collective to a single individual who slowly becomes his own individual is a fun thought exercise that can lead to its own brand of Angst and Drama on top of plot-related shenanigans.

Abraxasverse Headcanons
And a couple more headcanons from me. ;)
(1) Destoroyah and Bagan. You mentioned considering swapping Destoroyah out for Bagan as the final Big Bad for Godzilla’s swan song. Well, you could maybe merge them by having Bagan fuse itself to Destoroyah, kinda like a dark mirror image of how Mothra’s ashes fused to Godzilla in Boston.
(1.5) I was always into the headcanon that Destoroyah is like the Michael Myers of the Abraxasverse - no-one knows why he commits his evil, and he’s not speaking, he just does. Bagan could be the personality of the duo.
(2) The Hollow Earth Core World/Realm Below/Zohar realm is extremely radioactive. What if the Hollow Earth’s Core World/Realm Below is mostly steeped in radiation which nourishes Titan life, but which mundane humans from the surface can’t survive long-term without protection, like the Apex infantry gear or a HEAV’s protective shell? The Iwi or other tribal humans who’ve been living down there would be exceptions, probably because they’ve adapted to the radiation over generations, and/or implicitly because one of the lepidopterran “divine”/“god”-type Titans (Mothra, Battra, etc.) had a hand in making those humans able to survive the radiation similarly to how Mothra’s link to the Chen family influences their Preternatural Twinhood? (I reread Abraxas: The Clash of Silver’s Hollow Earth scenes to see if this has any contradiction there, and Maia is wearing the infantry gear throughout.)
(When it finally occurred to me, it seemed kinda odd that GvK forgot about the Titans’ radiation, like that which the Mutos caused in Dagon’s grave in 1999, when portraying the literal realm of the Titans.)
(2.5) Maybe while military personnel use the gas mask-toting infantry gear that Maia’s plans depicted in the ending of Abraxas, scientific and non-combative personnel sport slightly friendlier-looking versions of the suit, with a full-face transparent visor in place of the gas mask?
Ah, interesting thoughts… Bagan and Destoroyah having an evil symbiotic foil to Godzilla and Mothra has potential. And it makes sense that the Hollow Earth is more radioactive compared to the surface world (I figure GvK and GxK “forgot” about the Titan’s radioactivity because iirc even the classic Toho movies could be inconsistent with how safe it was to be in any proximity to Godzilla, whether you end up dying in his path or not). Food for thought.
Oh, and one more thing on the subject of AbraxasVerse… welcome to TV Tropes, friend. :)

Speaking of Ghidorahstan64... what if in Abraxasverse, they're a Zmeyevich?
Oh my god, a Zmeyevich listening intently to each and every one of Bernie's podcasts and smirking every time the topic turns towards Ghidorah, cracking their knuckles and prepping a long-ass copypasta, chuckling to themselves. "Joke's on you, bitch - Ghidorah's my dad. I know more than you."

Brief dialogue challenge. Abraxas meets Stenz from a timeline where Stenz survived KotM. :)
Monster X:
Stenz:
Monster X:
Stenz: ...ah... D-Dr. Graham?
Monster X:
Stenz: That, uh, is you in there, yes?
Monster X, San: Sister is restraining herself. You will speak to me.
Stenz: Why?
San: Because every thought she's had of you since her rebirth has been particularly angry. And violent.
Stenz, sighing: ...understandable. Do you have angry and violent thoughts about me?
San: That depends on what you have to say. I don't know you, I don't care for you, sister doesn't like you, and I'm inclined to like you even less.
Stenz: Again, understandable. I haven't exactly been supportive of Monarch and their stance on coexisting with these mons... Titans. But you have to understand the perspective of someone who hasn't spent decades studying these creatures, who's priority is defending human lives.
San: You supported the Oxygen Destroyer.
Stenz: There have been multiple instances in human history where one supports a certain course of action because "it seemed like a good idea at the time". Titans are impervious to conventional weaponry, let alone bombs. Governments and militaries felt desperate, and in our desperation nearly sealed extinction for our species. I understand that now. I nearly paid for my hubris with my life.
San: Good.
Stenz:
San: Well, not "good" as in you almost died. Good that you learned your lesson by now.
Stenz: I hope so. I... also hope we never meet again. Not for personal reasons - it's... well. You terrify me.
San, smiling: Good.
Stenz:
San, still smiling:
Stenz: S-So, is Dr. Graham centered enough to speak, or...?
Monster X: *closes eyes, inhales deeply, opens eyes; both green*
Stenz:
Monster X, Vivienne:
Stenz: ...Dr. Graham?
Vivienne: I had to dig through some radio frequencies to get the words right.
Stenz: Which are?
Vivienne: Foxtrot Oscar Charlie Kilo Yankee Oscar Uniform Hotel Alfa Romeo Delta Uniform Papa Tango Hotel Echo Alfa Romeo Sierra Echo.
Stenz: ...that's fair.

Ooh, since your 2020 designs for Kraken and Mokele-Mbembe came up... Headcanon: that design is what Kraken/Na Kika looks like in the Abraxasverse. ;)
I kinda like the more alien-like appearance Na Kika has in Godzilla: Dominion, but I don't mind AbraxasVerse Na Kika looking like a giant octopus-nautilus-whatever the hell I was going for those four years ago, it fits the hint of octopus intelligence I gave them in that one recent ask.

I'm hopeful we'll see more of Monarch and Apex's late-2010s operations, and I'm hopeful we'll learn more about Axis Mundi too, given how every Monsterverse installment since 2017 has had a fixation on perpetually going back to and doing more with the Hollow Earth.
But I think expecting more than a couple cameos, returning actors or other non-subtle callbacks is expecting more than we'll get, since all the retcons, broad strokes and Chuck Cunningham syndrome across the last few years' Monsterverse installments have established that the MV is overall going for a more "soft canon"/"loose canon" timeline. Plus, the MV installments released from GvK onwards seem to have no interest in addressing KotM beyond the minimum.
I'm optimistic that we'll get to see more of Keiko and her immense angst with the modern world and her family.
So, since we now know for sure that Monarch season 2 is coming, what are your expectations for it? I wanna keep mine realistic. So I just wanna see more of how Monarch operates in modern day (or rather, 2017-2018 modern day), more of Apex, and perhaps a more concrete explanation on what Axis Mundi actually is and how it fits into the Hollow Earth system. We know for a fact that there's next to no major Titan activity until 2019, so we can forget about having any major cameos (Mothra, Rodan, Ghidorah, etc.) outside of maybe showing them hibernating, since at this point they've all been discovered. As far as characters go, I wanna see more of Keiko, maybe have her interact with modern day Monarch and figure out how the word works. And while we're at it, I'd love to see some more familiar faces on the Monarch crew. Stanton, the Chens, Graham, and maybe even Serizawa would all be more than welcome additions.
Yeah, I think so too. It would be great to see more of Keiko and the Axis Mundi... and if season 2 bridges into KOTM, it would be a prime opportunity for a cameo from Vivienne Graham on her way to a certain location in Antarctica.

Still some sense of disbelief that I ended up on TV Tropes in some capacity.
It really is kind of stunning when your work is mentioned on TV Tropes. It's a sort of "Mom, I'm famous!" feeling, except you'd never want to send your mom the link to what page you're mentioned in because then she's vulnerable to the event horizon that is TV Tropes.

Was wondering if you had any thoughts as to the looks/personalities of the unseen Titans? (Baphomet, Typhon, Leviathan, Yamato no Orochi, Bunyip, Sekhmet , Abbadon, Quetzalcoatl, Margygr, Mokele-Mnembe)
Also curious if you have any thoughts on how Canazotz, Amhuluk, Shinomura, and Na Kika work in the Abraxasverse?
Oh dear, those mystery monsters can be a bit challenging to have thoughts on because the available information we have is limited, but I do remember drawing a take on Mokele-Mbembe and Kraken way back in 2020 when the art requests were open. (Keep an eye on that, the requests might open soon if work hours remain chill~)
As for how they might work in the AbraxasVerse, let's see...
Godzilla: Dominion may have labeled Na Kika a Destroyer, but in AbraxasVerse is among the more intelligent Titans owing to their cephalopod nature as well as having multiple brains; they're content to be left alone and not cause unnecessary trouble, but will make their displeasure known in a passive-aggressive manner (think an octopus in captivity finding a bad fish in its food and escaping the tank just to yeet the fish in question at a handler and go back inside).
Amhuluk is more or less the same in AbraxasVerse as he was depicted in Dominion; he's a hostile little shit. Sometimes he'll cause trouble and encroach an opposing Titan's territory, but thanks to a suggestion from Rick Stanton regarding a weakness to "certain alpha frequencies" it's relatively easy to scare him off just by blasting music from external speakers (or if Monster X is around and is dealing with a particularly annoying ear worm).
Camazotz is also unchanged from Kingdom Kong to AbraxasVerse; he sticks to his territory in dark caverns within the Hollow Earth, and after his disastrous battle against Kong and Monster X he frequently enters states of torpor to conserve energy. Unexpectedly, he and his giant bat swarm have a surprise benefit for everyone: his swarm can quickly awaken him with echolocation if something enters his territory, and sometimes that something might be a remnant of the Many that stumbles into the swarm looking to accumulate biomass. Depending on how many Many constructs appear, Camazozt's swarm will suffer casualties but can also quickly overwhelm the Many constructs in turn, rendering them unable to recover and cause trouble. All that needs to be done next is send out a sonic call to something like Monster X to incinerate the remains. Interactions between Camazotz and Monster X in this context are cordial, if riddled with barbs.
Seeing as Shinomura was vaporized in Godzilla: Awakening, I see no reason to alter history to suit a Somehow, Shinomura Has Returned moment for AbraxasVerse.

Fascinating stuff! :)
You're the #1 person i think would answer this in earnest so, what do you think the edge of the atmos is? So we obviously know about the far side being seperated by impassable mountains, but the other ends, do the sky cities stop and become a flatland? A desert? An ocean? The atmos has to be a continent right? But there has to be a point where they stop and different ecosystems begin. Are there other continents past the atmos that run on different rules? How would they cross the gap? What creatures or dieties rule in the other lands? Figured i'd ask you
This... this got long. Holy shit it got long. The readmore is there for a reason.
I noticed this ask when I was at work with about an hour left on my shift. You have no idea how tempted I was to make a video response to this question through pure enthusiasm and finally launch into my ambition of making YouTube videos about this cartoon XD
First of all, thank you so much for thinking of me, and I will absolutely answer this question with 100% earnest.
Secondly, I didn't really have an answer for this question until you asked it. Having full-on continents isn't really something I really felt a need for in Storm Hawks and Atmos, especially after I came up with headcanons to explain how Terras work and why they work that way. However this ask got me thinking :3
Let's start at the beginning. Atmos was made by a storm. Specifically the First Storm, believed to be the birth of a god of the same name, and the total destruction of an old world. Chaotic, destructive this newborn god shattered what would become Atmos into thousands of pieces and in its youthful madness it struck out at its elders. Death (aka Decay) lost an eye, Magic lost a heart that was flung into the path of a comet, which was one of the fire avatar's children. They caught fire like sparks to kindling. The howling drew the curiosity of the Flesh (aka Life), and the ire of the Manywing (the winds).
Whatever flat, unblemished world existed before this event is long gone and devoured by Decay, though it's possible a few traces of its inhabitants survived. Though they were changed by the energy of this great cataclysm. Atmos calls the descendants of these survivors the Giants.
Tumblr media
"Storms made us. Storms tore us apart. And now storms will help us rebuild" - Master Cyclonis, Age of Heroes Pt. 2, timestamp ~13:05
Please ignore how YouTube absolutely bungled that auto caption, but this is the line that inspired the headcanon for an Atmos creation 'myth' (it is a very real event but gets heavily debated in-universe), which I've held onto for a good two or so years now.
This wave of destruction created the Wastelands, and Terras came about when pieces of raw crystal energy fell to Atmos and eventually formed giant crystal deposits, around which earth, dirt and stone formed, making way for new life such as plants and animals. So essentially Terras are giant crystal geodes. The type of crystal that makes up their core is likely to affect its climate, which is how I am able to get away with worldbuilding choices such as placing Blizaris on the same longitude as, say, Tropica.
Because of this, I never considered any actual continents on Atmos. The First Storm was an event of worldwide destruction, absolutely nowhere was left unscathed, so no matter how far someone travels, it's Terras all over.
But this ask got me thinking 'ok what if there was? Why would there be any?'
Well the answer is that a continent did survive the First Storm. Maybe more than one, but I want to focus on what you can find there, and that is giants.
Tumblr media
Time to bring in Gundstaff. Fun fact, I made him despicable. But that's not what we're here to discuss.
Who the fuck is this man besides a crystal hoarder who gets robbed for plot??? In the three episodes he's in, for a total amount of screentime that I'm pretty sure doesn't exceed even five minutes, all we learn about him is that he hates people, is a giant, has a huge crystal collection, and his unnamed, blink-and-you-miss-it wife and child are presumably being held captive by Cyclonia. The only reason I'm not saying the wife and child are dead is because if they were, Gundstaff would likely have gone "fuck it, I'm working against you because you have nothing to hold over my head" long before Payback when he whoops ass for Piper.
Tumblr media
RIP to Gundstaff's family, currently residing somewhere in the fridge. Photo seen in Payback.
Gundstaff's very existence, and that of his supposed familiy, brings up several questions. Why do we not see any other giants in Atmos? Why does the cast not seem to treat his existence like a total anomaly? Is he the last giant in existance? I personally don't think so. If that's the case, then where the hell are they all?? How far flung are they that we only see a single member of this race three times across 52 episodes over a space of at least 36 Terras if you count the ones that aren't physically visited in the show?
Tumblr media
This is Gundstaff's home as seen in Five Days about 60 seconds in. It's... pretty small. Bro doesn't have a lot of space to move, and there's no sign of any other inhabitants, least of all any his size.
So where are the giants? Why is Gundstaff living in a place that doesn't feel very suited to his stature?
Because it's not really where he belongs.
The biggest landmasses in Atmos are the homelands of giants. There's space for them to move freely, they don't have to worry about crossing the Wastelands to get anywhere (though I do headcanon giants to have powerful innate magic that allows them to travel great distances without worry, and that the greatest of giants can grow to the size of Terras). I think these continents, aka Giant Country, are relatively flat and follow more 'logical' geology more akin to what we'd find in real life. I'm not set on what kind of climate it is just yet. Crystals are quite scarce here, as the ground isn't suitable for deposits to develop, so giants will venture out into the wider Atmos to gather resources. Some will stay long-term for various reasons such as for research, to make Champions (something of an 'art' among giants gifted with what I call "Artisan magic"), or because they were exiled.
I'm not sure why Gundstaff isn't living in Giant Country just yet. Maybe he was exiled, or he was staying in Atmos for research, or he and his wife were making plans to return to Giant Country with their child, but got torn apart by Cyclonia just before that plan was set into motion. If it weren't for his wife and child, I feel like Gundstaff would've returned to Giant Country long ago.
So to answer your question, I don't really think there is an 'edge' of Atmos. If it weren't for the Barrier Cliffs, if you travelled in one direction for long enough, you'd wind up back where you started without running into an 'edge'. But you might just find Giant Country, and that may as well feel like the edge of Atmos. It's quite different there.
I was not expecting to go this in-depth regarding this question, but this was a blast to figure out so thanks a ton for asking me about this Peregrine :3 I hope this answer satisfies you.

@tosho89 Providing thoughts and feedback of my own on these headcanons. Head's up, hope you don't mind constructive criticism as well as constructive praise.
I really love how you've thought about narrative themes and messages and how to fit this into the Abraxasverse's perceived tone, and I like how you've thought out this story synopsis and given it so much detail.
I love the idea that Mothra is much more resistant to Space Crystal Cordyceps infection because of what she is. I also love the idea of Kiryu after he's rebuilt being the token "secret manmade weapon-holder and thrower" teammate among Godzilla's Titan allies. And I LOVE that Vivienne's Bone Singer heritage becomes plot-relevant again. :) And I like the idea of Viv 'n' San confronting Gigan being personal for San and being him confronting and fixing one of Ghidorah's crimes. Whilst I'm not sure about the "Anti-Ghidorah" thing with Abraxas (*); I like that you address the matter of San earning redemption/atoning for his role in Ghidorah's past sins. (RWBY Volume 9's ridiculously, embarrassingly shitty ending, besides cementing me as a Fanworks-Only Fan of that franchise for good, gave me a new appreciation for the importance of handling themes of redemption and atonement properly.)
(*) I personally feel it would contradict Abraxas' main fic arc of attaining their freedom from Ghidorah's torments if they spent the rest of their life trying to make up for Ghidorah's evil, plus they might never be physically able to do it in a billion years with Abraxasverse Ghidorah's billions-of-years-long past as a multiple planet killer.
Multiple Titans including Rodan getting infected with the Space Crystal Cordyceps feels like it could be a COLOSSAL "darkness before the dawn"/"all hope seems lost"/"oh, crap" moment. Though the mental image of Xenilla just hauling several Earthborn Titans off in front of Godzilla like a bandit kidnapping an action hero's family is making me raise my eyebrow a bit - unless your intention is that the Titans put up a real fight before Xenilla takes them down (establishing the sheer Worf Effect surrounding Xenilla that he's able to take them down and kidnap them), or that Xenilla systematically hunts down, fights and kidnaps those Titans one or two at a time.
Whilst Gigan's fleet abducting the defeated Titans onto a spaceship with Titan-housing facilities does already have an in-Abraxasverse ground foundation with Ozymandias' past abduction, I'm honestly kinda leery to the whole "running through ship and taking Titan-sized escape shuttle" late-Showa image that's in my mind - to me, that image feels too silly and too Titan-humanising. I'd probably suggest an Abraxas-canon version portraying the captured Titans' breakout on the ship as being more the same kind of "monster breaks loose and rampages in facility, charging to reach freedom" thing as Viv 'n' San breaking loose and rampaging against Jonah's men was in the main fic. Maybe the ship is close enough to Earth that the captured Titans can break through the hull and (just barely, thanks to Abraxas and Rodan's flight capabilities and resilience) survive falling back through the upper-atmosphere to Earth and control their landing.
I'll be honest, I'm still in the "Ozymadias dies" boat even after reading this, thinking that the "beyond the impossible" theme can be applied to curing Rodan and the others, BUT I'm not as all the way in that boat as I used to be. ;)
Once again, I love the thought that you put into this. :)
Xenilla Arc HCs...
…or ideas- however you wanna slice it.
I think the absolute essence of this arc hinges ride or die on the answer to the question “Does it end with Ozymandias dying?”. A lot of people seem partial to the answer being yes- I will straight up admit my biases here and say I disagree- but the answer can go either way.
If the answer is yes then I think the arc should theme around Godzilla coming to terms with the fact that his brother is gone and not coming back, and that he needs to stop comparing himself against Ozzy and be king in his own way. It would center very heavily on examining older characters like Tiamat, Mothra, Shimo, and Dagon and how they all have to move on and forward. A pretty bleak story with a sad ending. I admit there’s probably more ways to do this version of the story that I’d be down to hear if anyone wants to share.
If the answer is no then the arc should be about Godzilla and crew turning a blind eye to the insurmountable odds that stand between them and freeing Ozzy- a story seriously fraught with hardship, suffering, and anguish with a dim light at the end of the tunnel. The reason I prefer this route is I actually think it’s more true to Abraxas as a story as that’s how the original story played out. This would be very similar- except it’s Godzilla’s story instead of Vivienne’s. And the unadulterated cruelty and torment wouldn’t be focused on just her. Everyone who follows Godzilla down this path goes through some shit to get to the end. The rest of this post is written with this route in mind, but like mentioned earlier I’m open to hearing about a version of this story where Ozzy doesn’t walk away- I just struggle to find a good way to write that myself.
However- one thing I don’t think should happen is a bait and switch. Genuinely I fail to see a satisfying end to this story if Ozzy’s baited to be able to survive but then doesn’t. Yes it would be angsty. Yes Goji would cry a lot. But I feel like you’d need to either write that extremely well or risk a very unsatisfying end. I just kinda fail to see a world where that can be pulled off with finesse. Again- fully ready to admit I’m biased here- would always be willing to hear others out on this, but idk man.
Anyways- the additional excuse of a very weepy happy ending gives you ample breathing room to write the most horribly fucked shit imaginable. A concept I’m sure you’re familiar with. Xenilla would want to play with his food before he consigns him to infection. He knows the effect he has on Godzilla and he intends to relish every moment of it. Physical, mental, you fucking name it; he wants Godzilla to go through hell in his final days before he mercifully delivers him to Gigan’s Proliferation Chambers to be infected. A large part of this torment would be what he does to those closest to him.
Big turning point in the arc; could happen about halfway through when the G-Team thinks they have a solid grasp on how to deal with Xenilla. The man himself shows up, wrecks Goji’s shit in front of everyone (maybe even drops him from the atmosphere like that one ask), and then kidnaps some of his closest companions to be taken to Gigan’s fleet. This could literally be anyone- but my idea is for it to be Abraxas, Mothra, and Rodan (could also throw in Leo or Ladon for some real cursed shit). They get taken right in front of Godzilla. Cue a rehash of Viv’s mental mindbreak when San got swallowed except with the King believing he’s just lost his wife and two best friends.
While onboard the ship, couple of things happen. Everyone besides Abraxas goes through some kind of horrific experience and is additionally incapacitated by the Indoctrination radio waves permeating the ship. Abraxas is spared via San being granted immunity when Ghidorah used to live onboard, and she ends up being the key to getting everyone off alive. This is also partially an excuse to give her a fight with Gigan as a moment for her to fix one of Ghidorah’s most depraved acts (a very hard and very bloody fight, might I add).
There ends up being serious consequences for this abduction. For one- everyone that does get taken ends up partially Indoctrinated. They can pretty easily shake off the worst effects as Abraxas would get them onto an escape craft within a day or two- but it’ll definitely leave mental scars. In addition, I think Rodan should end up partially infected. I think between Mothra and him, Xenilla would choose him to be infested because it would fuck Godzilla up more to see someone as carefree and quippy as Rodan utterly broken the parasite like he was- also because Mothra may have some unforeseen resistance to it being born of the Planet. This starts a subplot where Rodan is slowly getting more infected day by day and the return party needs to rush to find a way to cure him before losing him for good (this could also be how they find the cure they use on Ozzy later, more on that later). Very angsty all around- Rodan freaking out each time the cordies try to get control of him, everyone else worrying themselves into an early grave over him, etc.
Subplot #2: Monarch believes the key to stopping Xenilla is somewhere in the Hollow Earth. So- they send a group of Kaiju down there to look for an answer; in my head the group consists of Kong, Dagon, Barb, and Battra. They end up being right and find an Iwi forge/refinery where the Gojiran/Zohar weaponry was forged. Through a task requiring human/Titan cooperation, they create an Ultra-Radiated weapon that they think can neutralize the parasite (again, more on this later). Thinking it could either be a knife or a spear.
Whilst all this is happening, the few remaining Titans topside scramble in preparation as the world prepares for what could be a full-scale alien invasion. At this point- only like Goji, Tiamat, and Shimo would be left. They could all be having individual flashbacks to their most treasured moments with Ozzy whilst maybe even fighting off some advance enemies (Megaguirus or MOGUERA, anyone?).
The final conflict would start with a 1 on 1 confrontation between Shimo and Xenilla. Reason being that she needs to buy time for the cure to be finalized and for Kong’s group to return. This could also be her first truly challenging fight in millennia and we could actually see her pushed to her limits.
The actual fight begins when Godzilla rolls up all roars and challenges to Xenilla. He roars back- prepared to finally win this 1 on 1 and drag Goji back in a horrifically mauled state to be stuffed full of fungus- only for Godzilla to immediately halt his charge and shout ‘NOW, FATHER!’. Xenilla barely has time to turn around before he’s blasted point blank by a sub-atomic Oxygen Destroyer- only after the bombardment does the full Titan Vanguard roll up. Establishes that this fight is not for glory, to establish dominance, or to enforce Godzilla’s sovereignty. Godzilla is going to win and does not care how dirty he has to fight to do so.
Dagon is armed with Oxygen Destroyers, Kong’s got his new weapon, Godzilla’s all powered up, and Abraxas has a new little secret weapon up their sleeve I’ll touch on in a bit. Even so- Shimo’s already been worn down and doesn’t have a lot less in the tank. Her efforts mainly go into protecting the group’s first major plan: Barb. A lot of people seem to forget that her EMP blasts disable Titan powers- taking away Xenilla’s shields and devastating Coronal Rays. This works until it inevitably doesn’t, and the group goes through plan after plan similar in tactfulness to this until Kong or Mothra or someone gets a clean impalement with the new Zohar weapon.
Should probably explain my idea of curing the parasite now. The key to curing the infection in my eyes is two-fold and relies on two things: Neutralizing the fungus and destroying it. You can’t do one without the other. To start with it’s destruction- I think the only really viable option is literally to burn it off the bone and cells it grows on. If you’ve ever heard of Radiosurgery, it’s a form of cancer treatment that utilizes extremely precise beams of gamma radiation to literally burn away cancer cells. Obviously this is very risky to preform as screwing it up could cause irreversible damage to bone or critical tissue- if this was a normal patient. Ozymandias is Gojiran- so radiation wouldn’t have any adverse effects on him specifically, but the parasite? It would probably take a lot- a very heavy dosage and very concentrated- but Ozzy’s body would be able to endure while the fungus would not. But the infection is tricky, cunning, it would start to defend itself in some way or even try to take Ozzy with it should it be threatened like this. This is where we find the need to neutralize it- and the one who may be able to do that is Abraxas. We know that Ghidorah communicated between the heads via psionics, and we’ve seen further communication from Ichi and Ni to Vivienne and San. Vivienne and San could talk back but they could never actually initiate conversation (or maybe they could? I actually kinda can’t remember rn). Another thing- despite being shielded from Indoctrination’s worst effects- they could still hear that goddamn infernal buzzing on the ship. In fact- they heard it so well they could commit it to memory… so much that they could think about it, ponder it, learn how it works…
I’ve read asks on here that mention ‘Shaking off Reaper Indoctrination’, and that’s always felt a little weird to me- because that really isn’t something you just 'shake off’- it’s very clear in ME that the damage is permanent and not something very salvageable. However- what if the 'cure’ for Indoctrination is actually just another form of Indoctrination that undoes the programming on a psychic level. An Anti-Indoctrination method created by Abraxas after scrutinizing the actual frequencies of Indoctrination to see how it works. I think this would be a fantastic way to progress Abraxas’s character past where they were left at the end of Abraxas- going from one of Ghidorah’s most tortured victims, to the one who broke free of his control and defeated him, and now acts as an Anti-Ghidorah undoing all of his past sins. First defeating Gigan and then turning Indoctrination against them. So this becomes how Rodan, Mothra, and Ozzy are saved from being Indoctrinated- and also how Abraxas becomes possibly the most dangerous Titan on Earth- now knowing the secrets of Indoctrination and able to leverage that against their enemies. I’ve got a lot more thoughts on this I’ll cover in a separate ask just because this post is getting long.
So the actual method of curing Ozzy is essentially to reverse-indoctrinate the parasite into going dormant whilst Ozzy gets pumped with Zohar to kill off the infection- but where, I hear you ask, could we get a constant stream of Zohar and enough of it to eventually burn every bit of the fungus away? If you answered Bahamut’s Proliferation (name I gave to Tiamat’s Liar; open to additional name suggestions). It’s constantly charging from the incoming Coronal Rays and through some Monarch tech, it can be repurposed as a Cordyceps curing facility for both Rodan and Ozzy. However- the curing process would not be short- the place would’ve just been drained by Godzilla a few years ago and the stream of Solar Energy wouldn’t exactly be fast. It could take weeks or even months for the fungus to be completely gone- and Ozzy would be in a coma the entire time.
As mentioned earlier- ending’s a fucking tear-fest all around. Despite all the hardship, Goji and his subjects pulled through another impossible situation. Just like Abraxas being freed from Ghidorah- Ozzy is freed from Xenilla.
As always- really interested to what other have to say in regards to this; also expect that followup ask with how Abraxas’s Anti-Indoctrination would work.
Now that it’s explained, I feel more open to the idea of Ozzy living after a lot of pain and suffering on everyone; it feels like Gigan (and the narrative) expects our heroes to fail in saving him from a life of horrors in spite of all their efforts, and yet Abraxas is like “You know what? Fuck you. Un-funguses your lizard.” (Abraxas can indeed initiate “psychic conversations” with Ghidorah; they’ve definitely done it one or two times in Chapter 18, I remember that.)
I do wonder how well crafting weapons made from the Zohar will work; the AbraxasVerse Timeline posits the idea that the Zohar may be the planet’s core and that Ghidorah consuming it would basically destroy Earth from the inside-out, and we know Battra is going to HATE that. On the other hand, @zerm2v0hg also presented an idea that maybe the Scarred Apes under Skar King’s rule might have refined elements of Zohar for their own fucked-up purposes, and that Synthetic Zohar can be produced without potential planet-cracking ramifications… although the synthetic alternative may have ramifications of their own, who knows…
On the one hand it makes sense that the Fleet would have an enormous Fuck-Off HUEG LIKE XBOX ship dedicated for Gigan, but on the other I’m not so keen on the idea of Ghidorah having previously lived there because it clashes with a lore-dump I’d made about the Fleet; namely that Ghidorah is the source of no insignificant amount of generational trauma and its actions are antithetical to the Fleet’s belief about Experience being the key to a life well lived (one must experience as many things as possible both good and bad), because Ghidorah will kill anything and everything it can, meaning no survivors to tell of the Experience.
It’s been a while since I’ve really spitballed what exactly the relationship between AbraxasVerse Gigan and Ghidorah would be like, but I definitely recall they fought each other. A lot. They had a rivalry but unlike with Godzilla it was this weird interplay of violence and sadomasochistic… mutual appreciation? Like, Gigan comes to believe that Ghidorah completes him in the sense that he’s constantly improving his technique and cybernetics and weaponry after every fight; and Ghidorah appreciates Gigan because they LOVE a good fight and Gigan always provides a good scrap. The Fleet however is scared shitless of Ghidorah due of the whole galactic genocidal road trip schtick, and because it’s come damn close to actually killing Gigan, their living god, at times.
Ghidorah also hates Little Ones, like the members of the Fleet, with the fury of a thousand suns. They don’t even have to look remotely like the Makers, they just bring up those terrible memories just by doing their own thing without realizing it. So Ghidorah having roomed with Gigan on his own personal ship seems a bit odd with that in mind.
“Welcome to my humble abode, Ghidorah! I’d like you to room with me while we travel the stars on a glorious crusade to spread the Word of Flesh and Metal.”
“THE FUCK DO WE NEED A ROOM FOR? OR A SHIP? WE CAN FUCKING FLY THROUGH SPACE. ALSO YOUR LITTLE ONES PISS US OFF. WE’RE GOING TO KILL THEM ALL NOW.”
“Ahh, that’s what I thought you’d say, you crazy fucking noodle! Can’t let you do that to my babies, they’re mine!”
(I know it’s not the intent and I’m sorry, but Titan-sized escape shuttles also make me giggle due to the mental image of the Earthborn Titans trying to figure out how anything works. “Hey, Rodan? I think we should start the engines. Like, right now.” “I CAN’T FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET THIS THING WORKING!” “NIGHT VISION ENGAGED.”)
