She has a thousand different wishes, from the wishes of everyone (wealth, health, love) to simple ones (a blanket, some roast chicken, the coming of spring because she can't stand the winter anymore). She wrote down everything she ever wished since she was eight.
Simple wishes. A weightened blanket. A ticket to go to Disney World. A cake.
Complex wishes. Approbation from her mother. Be someone else. The permission to go back home. The love of her siblings.
Strange wishes. be someone else. A new knife. be someone else. Have the access to every book in the world. be someone else. Travel in stories.
She has a thousand different wishes. Some are altruists, some are purely egoistic, and some are simply impossible (peace in the world, some decent place to sleep and a proper meal, the unconditional love and acceptance of her mother).
She has a thousand different wishes, written down since she was eight and thought she could meet a genie.
She wishes she were someone else. Someone who doesn't have to worry about the monsters in the dark. Someone who never had to keep her siblings safe. Someone who never killed anything. Someone her mother loves.
When you ask her what she wishes, though, she smiles and answers 'Right now, a piece of cake'. You believe her. You shouldn't.

The problem with watching the same series than your brother (not in the same time though)
is
that you end with having the same fucking stupid theories at the same time while waching together
In this essay I will prove you that the Master and Moriarty are, if not the same person, at least highly related
Look at their fucking faces !
That's all folks, thank you for coming to this conference

So, given your headcanon, either Jingo is before Interesting Times or Twoflowers just needed vacations and somehow convinced Rincewind to go with him (and Ridcully to let Rincewind go with him).
Very amusing indeed.
I was just looking for a particular scene in Jingo when I came across this:
It was five o'clock. Vimes and Carrot sat in the Patrician's outer office, in silence except for the irregular ticking of the clock.
After a while Vimes said: "Let me have a look at that again.
Carrot obediently pulled out the small square of paper. Vimes looked at it. There was no mistaking what it showed. He tucked it into his own pocket.
"Er.. why do you want to keep it, sir?"
"Keep what?" said Vimes.
"The iconograph I borrowed from the tourist."
"I don't know what you're talking about," said Vimes.
And I thought "Tourist? There aren't many of those. Wouldn't it be wild if it was Twoflower?", but was sure that it wasn't, so I continued to flip back the pages in search of the scene I wanted to find, but then I found this (during the parade):
"Oh dear," said Captain Carrot, in the crowd.
"What's he doing?"
Next to him an Agatean tourist was industriously pulling the lever of his iconograph.
Commander Vimes stopped and, with a faraway look in his eyes, tucked his truncheon under one arm and reached up to his helmet.
The tourist looked up at Carrot and tugged his shirt politely.
"Please, what is he doing now?" he said.
"Er...he's... he's taking out...
"Oh, no..." said Angua.
โ€œ... he's taking the ceremonial packet of cigars out of his helmet," said Carrot. "Oh... and he's, he's lighting one."
The tourist pulled the lever a few times.
"Very historic tradition?"
"Memorable," murmured Angua.
So poor Rincewind must have been at the parade when the would-be murderer was killed, and Twoflower lost an iconograph to Vimes. Also, the Luggage in that chaos would be a nightmare...
I didn't really think anything of this when I read Jingo because I read it before reading the Rincewind books, but it's amusing now.

Fairy tales
What kind of maiden has a skin as white as snow, and lips as red as blood ? And what kind of maiden makes her mother-in-law dance until she dies in red-hot, iron shoes ? That's cruel, even if the mother-in-law was, too. What kind of maiden is Snow White ?
What kind of fairy (even maleficent) curses you until sleeping for a hundred years ? What kind of fairy curses a baby because she was not invited to their baptism ? I mean, in the french version, everyone thought she was dead but she was invited when she showed herself, and she cursed the baby only because she was not given the beautiful cutlery made with gold and jewels. What kind of fairy curses you for that, and why does she ?
When can you fall in love from a beast given that it has you in hostage and you're here only to save your father, helped by your dreadful sisters ?
When you ask to go to the ball, why do you have to fall in love with the prince ? I don't think Cinderella was that innocent : I mean, we know her stepsisters cut themselves bits of their feet for the glass slipper to suit them, and they were made blind by the birds after that. That's not kind.
What kind of mother gives her daughter a red hood and sents her in the forest, in which there is a Big Bad Wolf ? Okay, she has to not go away from the path, but be serious, she's a little girl, of course she will. Why give her a red hood ? Why sent her alone ? Was there nobody to come with her ? What was exactly the grandma ?
Why kill your seven wives ? Why would you lock a girl in a doorless tower, with only her hair to go into it ? Why did the Snow Queen steal a little boy, for what aim ? And who was really the Sea Sorceress, why would she take voices and hair ? Why would you trust a talking cat ? Who says the kind sister really is kind ? Why are the ugly ones always mean and malevolent ? Who would give their daughter for anything in the world (gold, rapunzel, richness...) ? Why would you climb a giant bean and steal the gold from a giant ? (I mean, if you woke up yo find all your stuff stolen by a little boy, you would be angry too)

I'm sure Jonathan and the Girlfriends are doing their nails, chatting about how ridiculous can be Dracula - "The fake beard !' 'Goodness yes the fake beard of the coach !' 'Did you know it's not the first time he does that ?" - and dreaming of escape.
Maybe before the end of June Jonathan will have convert them to vegetarism - 'they use soy blood, you know ? strange but nice, more particularly if you add paprika'.
Wait and see.

Maybe it was to look more normal to Jonathan's eyes : it would seem very strange to him to see a young man alone in his castle with Bradshaw's Guide. Or maybe it was, as I saw someone suppose, because he was training himself to his long, bloodless journey in the Demeter.
Because I don't think he would care on the brides. He does not love them anymore - maybe he had once, but now they are just these odd, annoying roomies who always eath you food and take your books and never give it away, or go to grocery.
So my main theory is that first, he was too busy to get fresh blood, and after that he was going to eat the baby and let the Brides manage by themselves, but then Jonathan entered and he couldn't let them eat his guest, so he gave them the baby.
And for the 'Are we to have nothing tonight', I think they were just too lazy and didn't want to dine out and they were like 'oh, Uber Eats' and they were after that so frustrated that they didn't even want to think to go outside and drink blood from anyone else that this young, fresh, paprika-tasty Englishman.
About the Brides of Dracula
So you know how when Jonathan first meets the Count, the Count looks like an old man? White hair and all? But the Brides of Dracula look far younger. Youthful, even.
Given the vampire's presumed immortalityย  so long as they consume fresh blood, the youthful appearance of the Brides suggests they all eat well, and frequently. Assuming, of course, that the age-reducing effects of vampirism is consistent across vampires. Contrast that with the Count. Who knows what his lack of sustenance does to his appearance, and doesn't seem to care.
Which makes it all the most intriguing when Bride 1 asks "Are we to have nothing tonight?" Because the Brides are accustomed to eating regularly. Count Dracula has been providing the Brides with fresh blood so often that they expect it, and are surprised when they are denied. Maybe even every night. Their looks reflect that. The Brides of Dracula are well fed. But the Count himself must be starving.

okay but Legolas.
he doesn't have a fucking father - i mean he does in The hobbit but we don't talk about The Hobbit because no. The point is he si presented as Legolas of the woodland row, when Aragorn and Gimli are called by the name of their fathers - and look, I know, his father is a king and it could be not very prudent to give Thranduil's name but I still think it's fucking hilarious. Like the man does not deserve a father, he's just from the woodland row.
Anyway. But I mean, his lines. "A red sun rises. Blood has been spilled this night." I mean, no ? The sun is just red ? it's the litteral sun, it doesn't reflect the amount of blood that has been spilled or not ? At least I could understand if he'd said "sailors should take some warning" but there's litterally no reason for that ? Please, explain me with your high Elvish science because here i don't understand the fucking way your brain works.
I mean, like. Legolas Greenleaf.

You know when it's a terrible, horrible, not very good day. Then you think 'I'll just watch some Doctor Who, I didn't watch all of it, maybe it'll make me feel better'
And then you watch... I don't know. Doomsday. The Angels take Manhattan. Even Vicent's episode can make me cry at this point.
'Congrats, you think; You day just turned worse.'

Maybe it was just trolling.
(incredible work to do a proper timeline btw)
Timeline of the relationship between Sherlock Holmes and John H. Watson!
*I had already posted this, but I deleted. I found new information as flipped through my books. So, sorry who had rebloged the previous post that I deleted, but I prefer to delete and rewrite CORRECTLY, ok?
1881 - Sherlock and Watson meet each other, through for Stamford. As per A Study in Scarlet.
1881 to 1886 - Both continue to live together in Baker Street.
1887- Watson tells us that will marry a woman, whose name he never tells us. As per, The Adventure of the Noble Bachelor
1887- Watson is married to a, no name, woman. Although his friendship with Sherlock remains and Watson even stays at Baker's when his wife is out of town. As per The Five Orange Pips.
March, 1888 - Watson remains married to an unnamed wife, according to A Scandal in Bohemia.
September, 1888 - Watson meets Mary Morstan, falls in love with and becomes engaged to her, as read in The Sign of the Four. There is no mention of what happened to the previous wife, apparently he didn't have any children either with her (I think it unlikely that she died, after all Watson never mourns her, and is soon engaged again without bereavement). It's almost as if this previous girl did NEVER exist.
1888 or 1889 or 1890??? - Watson married Mary, as read in The Adventure of the Stockbroker's Clerk. Watson says his marriage took him away from Holmes. But curiously there are some cases after his marriage where Watson is with Holmes and makes no mention of his wife (strange, isn't it?)
*that's confused me in the post I deleted, regarding the date of Watson's marriage to Mary.
Watson mentions one of his weddings being in the summer/spring and another in the fall/winter. But he does not deign to say in which he married Mary. Having met Mary in September, if he married her in the same year then it was autumn, but if he married her in summer then it is 1889.
Still, Watson says that his marriage and return to the medical profession took him away from the Holmes cases, however there are some cases where he seems to live on Baker Street in 1888 and 1889!! And this confused me earlier, whereupon I said that perhaps he was married in 1890, for how can he be married in 1888 or 1889 and also live with Holmes? Lmao.
Yes! It could just be Watson/Doyle being an unreliable narrator. But do you agree that it leaves room for doubts and assumptions/subtext?? correct?
1890 to 1891- The point is that Watson married Mary, because in The Red-Headed League, which takes place in 1890, he is married! Well, as he mentions his marriage in The Final Problem, allegedly stating that his marriage alienated him from Holmes, a case that takes place in 1891, where Holmes supposedly dies.
1894- Holmes resurfaces, and we are briefly informed that Watson's wife has died, apparently he had no children with Mary. So he returns to live with Holmes in Baker Street. As per The Adventure of the Empty House.
1895 - They aren't on Baker Street, aren' t in London, Watson refuses to say why. They weren't out on a case! (Coincidence or not, this was the year of Oscar Wilde's trial who, although married and with children, was condemned for his relationship with men). They are back in end of April and July in the The Adventure of the Solitary Cyclist case and The Adventure of Black Peter case. But travel to norway after that. Return to Baker in September, as seen in the case of the Bruce-Padington plans case.
1894 to 1901 - Time they lived together in Baker Street again. In that time, Watson stops practicing his profession and sells his medical clinic (at Holmes' request), Watson does nothing more than follow Holmes on cases and write them down, curiously Holmes keeps Watson's checkbooks with him (not there is no explanation why, although assumptions are made that Watson had problems with overspending or bet) and Watson helps Holmes get off drugs too! As per The Return of Sherlock Holmes book.
*p.s: in the year 1896 there are cases where Watson says he does not live in Baker Street, as for example in The Adventure of the Veiled Lodger. However, these cases ALWAYS have narrative inconsistencies. And to other cases in 1897 where he LIVES with Holmes, as per The Adventure of the Abbey Grange.
Yes, Watson/Doyle is a miserable and unreliable narrator because many cases have DATES or DATA and inconsistent FACTS that don't fit, so that it's impossible to organize the 60 cases in chronological order, there comes a point where we get out of accuracy and we have to start to ASSUME/suppose/imagine where some several cases take place. As someone who has tried to organize, believe me, it's a never-ending headache, which is why there are different lists of Timelines. So I'm ignoring Watson's inconsistencies as a narrator in order to claim that he lived with Holmes from 1894 to 1901, okay? I'm just putting here the dates given by Watson that don't have apparent contradictions.
1902 - Watson left Baker Street, for reasons he does not tell us. Claims to live on Queen Anne Street. Although he still takes part in Cases and Turkish Baths with Holmes, as per The Adventure of the Illustrious Client.
1903 - Last cases. Sherlock regrets that Watson has left him to marry a woman (another nameless wife of Watson), so the detective is left alone to investigate the cases. As per The Adventure of the Blanched Soldier. And Watson returns to practicing medicine with a good clientele as per The Adventure of the Creeping Man.
1907 - Holmes is retired. He lives with his bees and a housekeeper he doesn't talk to much. He gets along well with the director and teachers of a school close to his house, to the point of visits, walks and swimming on the beach. Sherlock says he sees Watson on weekends. As per The Adventure of the Lion's Mane.
1908 to 1913 - Watson claims he rarely sees Sherlock, because Holmes prefers to send short telegrams rather than letters. Watson continues to write old Holmes cases whenever Holmes lets him. As per The Adventure of the Devil's Foot (which takes place in 1897, but Watson does just tell us until after Holmes is retired).
1914 -The last appearance of both at Canon. Date of the First World War. Watson had not seen Holmes for about 2 or 3 years, he thought that Holmes had become a hermit with his bees. But Holmes was actually undercover as a spy for 2 years on matters involving the war. As per His Last Bow case.
P.s: In the post I deleted mentioned that Watson got married 3 times and claims to have experience with women on 3 different continents. While Sherlock says he has never loved, has no interest in women and has his body as an appendage and is against emotions that undermine his reason. What they both think in terms of homoaffective relationships cannot be exposed since it was a crime at the time. Watson explicitly exposes to the public a fact that he is Heterosexual while Holmes seems to fit in Asexuality. However, narrative inconsistencies, narrative omissions and errors leave gaps for subtexts. Watson also admits to omitting data and facts that could expose clients or Sherlock and himself. So this also adds assumptions for subtexts.
