best post. the first fic I read on Ao3 was a Thorki fic. and then symbrock. so... *shrugs* new people have to adjust to the way the world has been for decades, and not expect us to adjust to them. new gen also cannot read so idk why they even on there? like.. get some Miffy books first?

At the risk of coming across as controversial, I’d like to give my opinion on some Ao3 discourse.

Ao3 was founded by a ThorKi shipper. Yes, someone who ships Marvel’s Thor and Loki, who are (albeit adopted) brothers. According to some data mining, it’s very likely the first fic on the site was a Wincest one as well. There’s no censorship on the site, and there’s a filtering system to compensate (that I use every time I’m looking through a tag I enjoy).

You’re going to see things you don’t like. And when you come across a tag or a warning or a rating you don’t want to see, you can simply add it to the “exclude” part of the filtering system.

A lot of younger users are coming onto Ao3 from sites like TikTok and Wattpad, and they’re bringing a few of their bad habits over. I’m not talking about placeholder fics or using it like a social media site — that’s a post for another time. I’m talking about bringing hate and bigotry into comment sections and harassing authors over their works and preferences. This shouldn’t be happening.

Ao3 is a website founded by a proshipper, made for proshippers. It’s a free website, and no one is allowed to profit off of it (looking at you, people who bind and sell fanfiction on eBay. Not cool.). The lack of censorship is the price every user must pay for that.

If content you consider problematic is a dealbreaker for you, then maybe you should find another website.

I recently got a job. and I love it! its a great job, I work 15 hrs a week. which... is the dream. but I find myself staring at the clock the last hour. additional info. I loved the barbie movies when I was a child. so when I find myself looking at the clock, I think to myself "there's only a barbie movie of work left. then I go home." and replay parts of the barbie movies in my head. and it makes time faster. now idk why this works. but pro tip. if ur bored at the last hour of work. just think of your favourite movie as a child. time flies.

Good. I hope for season 3 they look ancient to you. I hope David Tennant’s crow’s feet are deep enough to drink wine from. I hope Michael Sheen’s waist grows another couple of inches and pops a button right off his waistcoat. I hope they add a little grey to Crowley’s signature red and I hope Aziraphale walks with a cane.

I hope between now and season 3 you can open your mind to the fact that they are by far the best two actors to fill those roles. And if they kept portraying Crowley and Aziraphale right through their 90s it would still be canon and be fucking epic.

I just had a fight over the word 'ew'

context: a friend was called ew in the server, and came to me for what I later found out was comfort. instead I went on to say 'ew isn't a big deal, its like calling a cup of tea ew cause u dont like the flavour. it isn't that serious, but whatever tea u are, I like u and that's all that should matter" instead what he took from this was 'suck it up and get over it u bitch its not that big of a deal stop being a crybaby' this is not at all what I meant but he kept insisting I did mean that. while actually all this time I liked him and he shouldn't listen to people he didnt even know IRL, and ew really isn't a big deal and its not as serious a insult as hes making it out to be. now im confused, cause when someone says im ew, I just shrug, im not everyones cup of tea, and that's okay, there is alot of different tea out there, but just cause u think im ew, doesn't mean that I am in fact ew. their 'ew' on me, is an opinion. not fact. so I guess what im asking is. if u were called "ew" by a stranger on the internet, would u let it ruin your day? and if it did ruin your day, and your friend used my analogy of: "you aren't everyones cup of tea, and that's okay!" would u feel more hurt? idk its pretty stupid, but my autism makes it hard for me to understand, and im just trying to look at other perspectives. I did apologise to him, cause I didnt want to push him away and not see him for 6 months over a little fight.
