I'm so happy to say I finally was able to buy a few headscarfs for veiling! It was a very nerve wracking experience, but I'm so excited to take this next step in my faith!

you can start the ritual already wearing your veil, holding the material you veil with, or do the ritual while tying it on.

when using this ritual, I follow the belief that: fire is the element of the south and rules the physical air is the element of the east and rules the mental earth is the element of the north and rules the spiritual water is the element of the west and rules the emotional

facing one of the cardinal directions (I start with south) recite the following: "I call upon the element of [element] in the [direction] to protect me from [type of protection] harm."

this would look like: "I call upon the element of fire in the south to protect me from physical harm."

then set your intention for how you want it to protect you, for example: "protect me from illness and dangerous situations."

then turn to face a new direction and repeat. the direction you choose to turn can also correspond with whether you want to attract (clockwise) or banish (counterclockwise.)

once you are done calling upon protection from all four elements, you can finish with "so mote it be," "blessed be," or whatever other prayer or mantra you want to use.

this is the ritual I use every day and obviously will not work for everyone! protection is the main purpose of my veiling, if you veil for modesty, devotion, or any other reason(s), this might not fit for you. feel free to modify this ritual however you'd like to make it work for you, and let me know if you do, I'd be very curious to hear!

I feel as though my energy has been sucked out of me. I was laid off, and now it's been weeks of me stalling, wondering if everything was all for nothing.

In this time of despair, I remind myself that I am loved and connected to the Divine. The universe has a plan for me. A new door has opened to me and it's exciting to discover where it leads.

My Sacred Mothers have always taken care of me and kept me under their Holy watch. I am thankful to them today and always.

how to read candle flames

How to read candle flames  

High steady flame: yes 

Low steady flame: no 

Dancing flame: reground and put more focus towards your spell/question 

Violent flickering flame: strong no do not reattempt this spell or ask this question again 

Sputtering crackling flame: there is a more complex answer than a yes or no it could mean maybe or possibly 

Dual flame: thinking, wait for the answer 

Left leaning: yes 

Right leaning: no 

Will not light: try another time 

Will not go out: you are not done with your spell or question yet 

Candle goes out before you are done: wait now is not the right time

Aphrodite isn't answering, now what?

(Here's my advice, but remember it's different for everyone! Your worship, your rules.)

I've seen a lot of baby witches who try to contact Aphrodite, but receive no answer. Offerings, Altars, Prayers, and nothing! What could be going wrong?

Let's start with basics of a person: mind, body, soul.

Mind: Is your mind clear? Are you focused on worshipping our Goddess Aphrodite, or are you focused on what she can offer you? Aphrodite is more than just the Goddess of Beauty, she is Beauty, and because of that she deserves your full attention. Don't think about how she'll "magically make you pretty" or anything like that, it's selfish and she won't waste her time with it.

Body: Are you cleansed? Spiritually cleansed, but also physically cleansed. A good way to worship Aphrodite and show that you're her follower is to just look good. Clean hair, clean face, clean body. Practice self care! Glamour magick can be brought into this as well!

Soul: Do you take care of your soul, your very essence of being? Self love is important to a healthy soul, as self-loathing will swarm you with negativity and create a vortex of bad energies that you will never truly be able to get rid of until you begin to love your soul. Aphrodite can't force you to love yourself, and she can't make you want to. You need to want to help yourself before she can help you.

So you've done all of the above with no answer? Look into what you're offering! Aphrodite is the Goddess of Beauty, forged from Sea, keep that in mind when making offerings!

Sea shells, mirrors, fancy lace, money (even coins!), good smelling candles, jewelry, all of these things are wonderful offerings!

Be patient. Don't expect an answer automatically, even if you've done everything right.

✨ Planning 2024 with witchcraft ✨

Blessed 2024 to all.

Some tips if you're spending the day, as I am, reflecting and planning ahead for the new year.

🔮 Be aware that making a wish isn't manifesting. When making new year's resolutions, spend time scheduling and planning the goal you have in mind. Manifesting only works if you dedicate energy and time to it.

🧹 Clean your home to get rid of old energies and make space for the new. I like to start from the room that is furthest from the entrance, and make my way to the front door.

🛁 Cleanse yourself with a bath/shower ritual. Use scents of rose and lavender to attract love, lotus and cinnamon for success, or eucalyptus and mint for health.

🃏 Use Tarot to prepare for the new year. My favorite readings for New Year's Day are Past-Present-Future, or 1 card drawn for each month of the new year.

💌 Write a letter to yourself, to open at the end of the year. Be specific about who you hope to be then, while keeping in mind compassion and self-love.

🌛🌝🌜 Play with the rule of 3. In magic, the number 3 has strong properties and can be really powerful. Use it to write down 3 main goals or 3 habits you'd like to tackle in 2024. Check this post where I am using the rule of 3 to plan a magical year.

Sage Alternatives

So you learned that you shouldn't use sage to cleanse... what now?

I've been practicing for many years now, and here are some of my favorite alternatives that work amazingly well for cleansing!

Lavendar: Great for cleansing and protecting your mind, body, spirit, and heart!

Rosemary: Smells very good and burns well. Aids in protecting you as well as cleansing.

Cinnamon Sticks: You might have to relight it a few times, but it smells amazing and is fantastic for cleansing away negative energy. You can also burn cinnamon sticks as an inscense.

How to make a wish/prayer candle

First, you'll need your supplies:

A tall white candle, encased in glass

Cinnamon sticks

Star Anise

Fresh or dried Jasmine

Fresh or dried Lavender

Any crystals of your choosing. (I picked selenite and moonstone)

Ribbin of your choice (optional)

Let's start building!

Burn the candle in preparation, you'll want the wax melted in order to place our ingredients in. Burn with a clear mind and good intentions. Wait for the melted wax to be about 1/2 inch deep.

Snuff the candle (DO NOT BLOW OUT, SNUFF) when ready and place inside your Star Anise. This will aid in psychic abilities and prepare you for communication with the divine

Sprinkle in your Jasmine. This will help in cleansing your auras and bringing in relaxation

Add in your Lavender. This will bring protection, as well as love and relationships. This includes love to yourself and to what you worship

Prepare your crystals and cinnamon stick. The cinnamon stick will be used for cleansing yourself, your altar, and your home. You may burn it whenever you pray. The crystals will serve as energy enhancements.

Wrap the candle in your ribbon and tie it off with a beautiful bow 🎀

There you have it! Burn your candle whenever you pray, make offerings, or if you just need lady luck on your side! 🤍 Stay blessed, friends!
