This is super comprehensive and helpful. Here’s some fun additions.
On the film set, it was canon that Yon-Rogg's pinky toe gained photon powers from the explosion. He was standing too close when Carol shot the energy core XD
There's certainly more than meets the eye when it comes to hexagons and the Kree. In Midnight Suns, the player engages in a conversation with Carol, where she remarks, “I was extremely confused about Kree biology. Let’s say I can never look at an octagon the way I used to.” A dialogue about Ancient Kree takes on “population husbandry” and diagrams with geometric shapes for representation lol.
The Kree Capital consists of two layers: Lower and Upper Hala, each with distinct layouts and purposes. Upper Hala, the uppermost layer, housed units like the Starforce Tower. Its most notable feature was that every building formed a piece of an intricate jigsaw puzzle, creating a protective shield over the city below.
About their technology: “We were still playing with the idea of using liquids - water as data or a sci-fi transmission medium. So a lot of those images have rippling water puddles as a form language for designing (the S.I.) space. The inspiration was ferrofluids.
Das't is a common swear word among the Kree.
+ There's literally zero evidence on Yon-Rogg being racist towards Carol... but nice try
“[…] [Yon-Rogg] is also a mentor to Vers. He found her in a very early confrontation that led to her becoming super powered. He brought her back to life with Kree blood and she has been his pet project. He feels responsible for guiding and containing her skill set, honing her abilities, and trying to keep her mind from drifting into more human, emotional places, and becoming therefore more focused, driven, and less emotional, which is more of a Kree and certainly more Star-Force’s way of doing things. They have a tight bond, but Vers’ humanity still comes out, and I think that is hugely attractive to Yon-Rogg. I think he finds her irresistible, and it’s her human elements that he really warms to.” — Jude Law [Captain Marvel the Official Movie Special (ISBN-10: 178586811X)]
Canon worldbuilding lore on the MCU Kree to help you with your fanfic
They rule over multiple planets. Hala is the capital.
Hala's star is called Pama
In the comics there are around five known planets in Hala's system - it's unclear if Hala is 4th or 5th planet because it's been confused with another planet, Turunal.
Hala is located in the Larger Magellanic Cloud
Hala had oceans and forests (rip to those tho lol)
Leader of the Empire is called the "Supremor"
The Supreme Intelligence was basically god
The collective is one idea of the afterlife — if your brain is worthy it joins the Supreme Intelligences database when you die.
The spiritual afterlife is called the Etherplex or something idk
Their technology is somewhat water based (need more info on this)
Architecture is heavy on metal and stone and is very geometric. Buildings are detailed but there generally isn't too much furniture.
Cyan and purplish lights for a big chunk of Hala, golden lights for the Supreme Intelligence.
No hanging paintings... If you want art you have to hire someone to paint your wall lol
Starforce generally have one room apartments, I couldn't see a kitchen in them.
Stuff like wardrobes, book shelves, cupboards and drawers are more likely to be inserted into the wall to save space.
Like Carol literally lived in a single room with a bed, nightstand and a hexagonal cup. The ideal female living space.
They have hexagonal cups (I just thought that was cute)
The military is a big deal! Other respectable careers involve teaching, medicine, typically intelligent jobs that give something to society.
Kids are trained from a young age in the military. They're called "recruits". There's a deleted scene of Yon-Rogg teaching some.
The military hierarchy is likely Supremor > Accuser > Starforce > Kree Army > Non Kree Army > War slaves.
The Accusers aren't just extra bad military. They uphold the law, make arrests, hold trials, decide punishments, etc. I'd imagine that this is typically done for more important criminals or prisoners of war. That's why Dar-Benn holds an Accuser hammer as Supremor — she's upholding the law.
Kree Law is vaguely structured around the Tablets of Koth — they aren't definitive but they are the main basis.
Questioning your leaders is technically illegal
The worst crime of all is being "un-Kree".
Kree supremacy is big. In the comics it's illegal for Kree to have children with other species. They will tolerate other races if they’re feeling nice about it, but ultimately the Kree come first. This is important in the context of Carol's relationship with Yon-Rogg.
There's racism of blue Kree > non blue Kree in the comics but it doesn't appear to be present in the MCU. Keep it in mind though.
The Kree originally evolved to have blue skin because of low oxygen levels on Hala. Non blue kree came later as a result of mixing with other species. Since making babies with another species has been illegality for probably millenia, non blue Kree are now just another skin tone of the species.
Sexism isn't a thing. Yon-Rogg isn't sexist to Carol he's being racist too her lol
There are groups of noble families with some quite strict rules about battle. If a noble is cornered in battle with no way out they have to drink the special suicide juice or else they are shamed.
The suicide juice is called Odium, which means hate in Latin. If you sip it you go crazy with rage, get super strength and start trying to fight everything until it makes your heart explode
In the comics the Kree have double that of human organs — ie two hearts, four lungs. Brain is probably an exception. They have stronger bones and heavier muscle mass.
Kree blood has healing properties strong enough to bring a species with simple DNA (like humans) back from the dead but it's super duper painful and like 7/8 of the people that have received it have been given some kind of amnesia afterwards
Carol was one of those humans lol rip queen
Apparently the amnesia thing isn't even hard to do? In Agents of Shield a Kree had a tiny little hammer and he'd slap people with it and they'd loose their memories (I doubt that Carol was slapped with a tiny hammer but you never know this might help you)
Propaganda art - there are some gorgeous statues and murals in the Captain Marvel concept art.
Fashion is generally dark. Black, grey and brown for most people. It's not too complicated. White appears to be for underclothes/sleeping wear.
Well it's not too complicated unless you are the Supremor. Remember, Dar-Benn is succeeding the position from their idea of god. She's dressed to the tens and stands out the most from literally everyone. Her stuff is more detailed and metallic and she's wearing a lot more jewellery.
Also notice how Dar-Benn changes outfits literally every ten minutes. I need Marvel to stop killing all the cunty villains because I deserved to study her entire wardrobe thank you very much
A few Kree women (including Carol) have the style of one side being braided and the other let down.
The Kree are encouraged to experiment with as many genders as possible
So technically Carol Danvers lesbian sex canon
Some people grow babies in big tanks. Why? To make them strong or something idk. Carol's comic half sister was born in a big tank bc they wanted her to be strong asf to serve as an Accuser
Swear words — I only know da'st. No idea what it means
They don't have a word for candy </3
Normal space currency is called credits. Kree currency is called kreedits. If that's not the funniest fucking thing ever I don't know what is.
Kree names are "your name-family name". Eg Yon-Roggs given name is Yon, but his surname is Rogg. His daughters name is Una-Rogg.
You generally don't separate the name. Yon-Roggs name isn't Yon, it's Yon-Rogg. Obviously there's exceptions, but that's the general naming rule. It wouldn't be outright wrong to call him Yon, it would just be uncommon and slightly weird.
The Kree have beef with every species ever. They had multiple wars with the Asgardians and the Xandarians.
I've probably missed something lol
Anyways: Arab.org daily click to help Palestine 🍉

Exactly what I was looking for, where has this one been my whole life?? Here's my small contribution:
Yon-Rogg: "Okay team, find me some evidence that Vers is compromised."
Att-Lass: “Uh, Commander? Are you sure that's what you want?”
Bron-Char: Suspicious. Is the Commander alright?
Yon-Rogg: “Oh right... find me the proof that she isn't!”
it seems u don't take prompts(?) but honestly u're the best yonvers writer i know and my writing sucks so i'm gonna take the risk. could u pls write something like, during those 5years in Hala(and now its a little off-canon) a Skrull tried to infiltrate Starforce taking Yon Rogg's form and NOBODY notice the difference... except Carol 'cause OF COURSE SHE WOULD REALIZE, THEY KNOW EACH OTHER SO WELL, EVEN THE WAY THEY BREATH-
To say the mission didn’t go as well as they had planned was quite an understatement. It should have been a normal scouting mission, one so easy that Vers – and probably the rest of the Starforce as well, even though they would never admit that – wondered why they, out of all the people in the Empire, had been chosen to do it. But it was an order, by the Supreme Intelligence nonetheless, and Yon-Rogg insisted she would take this task as serious as any other mission. She shuddered at the anticipation of a boring day, while Yon-Rogg was hoping for exactly that – an uneventful trip to a border planet of the Empire. However, looking back, she wished it had actually been what Yon-Rogg had envisioned.

"What If...?" Season 2 drops, and what do we get? The unexpected return of Yon-Rogg, voiced by none other than Jude Law. Somebody pinch me. Alright, reality check. Mixed feelings. This Yon-Rogg really took a detour into sketchy territory. A far cry from the character we embraced in the main MCU timeline and not the same Kree I’ve come to love. Just look at the line "You don't have to worry about Xandar anymore. Ronan has big plans for it"
A cartoonishly evil, overly theatrical version of himself, no motivation for actions. The complexity and depth I admired was replaced with generic villainy, leaving a cardboard cutout. Albeit a very cool animated one, loved the design btw. It's a tough pill to swallow, even if it comes in the form of a very stylish, animated capsule. But for ten seconds I was overjoyed hearing Jude Law’s Yon-Rogg voice, and now I know this Kree warrior still exists.

In a recent conversation with The Direct, Iman Vellani dropped some truth bombs about Marvel needing to reconnect with its audience by making them care about the characters once more. She expressed, "I don’t know if it’s about just getting bigger and bigger and bigger because then, like, what’s left? You know, I think it’s just about making the audience care about their characters."
Well, guess what? I'm here to pick up the care baton, especially for those underappreciated characters from Captain Marvel that deserved a proper sequel. And where do I start? Deleted scenes, of course! Starforce edition.
“HEADING TO TORFA” Also known as the Starforce banter scene because it unveils glimpses into the diverse personalities of the elite Kree team. This scene begins with all six members returning to reality after seemingly communicating with the Supreme Intelligence. Here are their individual reactions:
Yon-Rogg and Korath emerge as the epitome of calm and composure, a rational response befitting their roles as commander and second-in-command. It’s reasonable to assume that the Supreme Intelligence is engaging them in strategic discussions, sharpening their minds before embarking on their mission. The camera skips Minn-Erva's reaction. (In an interview with Jude Law and Gemma Chan this question popped up, but they only talked about who Yon-Rogg sees) Moving forward, Vers exudes an air of control, her immediate attention directed towards the chip at her neck. In contrast, Bron-Char's sharp exclamation upon opening his eyes suggests a momentary disorientation or surprise.
Yet, Att-Lass clearly takes center stage. Att-Lass, my poor blue boy, is depicted blinking through tear-filled eyes, a solitary tear tracing a path down his cheek. WHAT could evoke such a strong response from him? The Supreme Intelligence is known to be cruel, but in this context, it doesn’t make any sense. So I have no clue, but here’s a quote from the actor Algenis Perez Soto, “He looks up to her [Vers], as a big sister, and I’ve really liked this closeness that they have in the film.” Considering Att-Lass's reputation as someone who shares deep connections within Starforce, it’s possible that the emotional impact stems from the sight of all his comrades assembled together? I bet they had to remove this scene because the test audience liked it too much, and because it makes Att-Lass’ last line “Don’t make me do this” 100x more heart-wrenching.
“STARFORCE RECRUITS”. Now this stands out as my favorite scene for numerous reasons. Brie Larson's words that Vers and Yon-Rogg share "a very loving relationship" isn't an exaggeration; this scene, clocking in at under two minutes, serves as living proof. Here are a few noteworthy observations that have already resonated within the fandom:
Yon-Rogg assumes a surprisingly gentle demeanor akin to a teacher addressing children, prompting a smile from Vers, who then teases him not once, but twice. Yon-Rogg reciprocates with laughter, seizing the opportunity to commend her greatness. Interestingly, he appears entirely comfortable with being teased. However, when a question surfaces that he knows has the potential to hurt Vers, he immediately shifts gears, halting the conversation and maintaining a vigilant gaze to ensure her well-being. This brief scene captures the nuances of their relationship, highlighting moments of warmth, banter, and a protective instinct. But of course, there’s something more. Here is a quote from Vers I keep coming back to: “The Commander is right about the Skrulls. They took everything from me. My HOME, my family, my memory. Our leader, the Supreme Intelligence SAVED me, gave me purpose, and this implant-...”
It's not the specific choice of words or how Vers delivers the lines that perplex me; rather, it's the subtle yet intriguing background action that unfolds. At the precise moment she utters the words emphasized in capital letters, Yon-Rogg's head abruptly whips around to look at her. And what makes this all the more intriguing is that it happens not just once, but twice. Whether it's a matter of timing or editing decisions, I initially found it somewhat humorous. However, with time, the humor faded, leaving behind a sense of sadness. Let me explain.
Vers, indoctrinated by the Supreme Intelligence, firmly believes that Skrulls were responsible for the devastation in her life, including the loss of her family. Yon-Rogg, on the other hand, is entrusted with selling this fabricated narrative. He feeds Vers the lies, and she, in turn, echoes them to those around her, continuing the circle of lies that only intensifies with each retelling. So back to the observation. Is Yon-Rogg cringing at her words because they were scripted for her, or is he discontent upon hearing Vers credit her salvation to the S.I? Whatever the case, the scene should’ve been included.
“WHO DO YOU SEE?” Each member of Starforce, and indeed every Kree warrior, has a distinctive relationship with the Supreme Intelligence. Jude Law even says, "My character has a very particular relationship with the Supreme Intelligence which becomes revealed and is quite complex, ultimately very revealing of what motivates. I’ve kind of based him almost on a sort of, not religious fanatic, but he’s got a kind of divine sense of purpose because of his relationship with this greater being."
Complex is a good word because I don’t think I can fully explain the scene, but it changes everything. This scene serves to confirm Yon-Rogg's feelings for Vers, particularly evident in the line "You were blinded by your feelings for her." Throughout the movie, he consistently makes decisions in her favor, showcasing a stark departure from his earlier stance on "not letting emotions rule one's head." This shift becomes strikingly apparent when she’s in peril, and Yon-Rogg takes decisive action to protect her. His choice to mislead Ronan the Accuser is one example. The scenes also shows the brutality of the Supreme Intelligence and it’s uncertain what happens to him after the film. I’m hoping he could return at some point in the future of the MCU.
As if the included deleted scenes weren't enough, the mere thought of what's been shot but never published has me on edge. But that’s for another post.

A lovely gif + the seconds later are even more interesting...
Four years later, and there's still a lingering mystery about the deleted scene titled "Starforce Recruits" that continues to gnaw at me, particularly its conclusion. Here is a quote from Vers I keep coming back to:
“The Commander is right about the Skrulls.
Is Yon-Rogg cringing at her words because they were scripted for her, or is he discontent upon hearing Vers credit her salvation to the Supreme Intelligence? Whatever the case, there's an underlying, mysterious dynamic at play between the lines.

If I remember correctly, Yon-Rogg's only (reused ofc) voice line in The Marvels is "You can't do this." Still not sure why the movie was kind enough to include that specific line.

What almost happened in The Marvels
Carol: We’re off to save the universe! No obstacle too big,
Monica & Kamala in unison: Yeah!
Carol: No danger too great,
Monica & Kamala: You said it!
Carol: Together we'll save the universe, or die trying.
Kamala, shocked: Die?

The Marvels review
Okay, long, long post. I’ve seen The Marvels thrice now and it’s time I shared my thoughts.
I was funnily enough aware of the plot fifteen months in advance. Someone posted on reddit ‘unconfirmed plot details’ and the same leak was shared on various sites, e.g. the article from July 29, 2022 “Is Captain Marvel a villain in The Marvels? Plot leak hints at yes.”
I mention this because I want to make comparisons to the early concept and the actual movie we got. First off, the leak was very accurate. Carol being perceived as The Annihilator and Dar-Benn & Co hating her for destroying Hala. But here are some interesting differences.
The movie didn’t make a huge plot twist on Carol being the villain - after all, she was only seen as a villain from the Kree’s perspective, not from her own really. And hey, mistakes happen to even the best of us right? No Big Deal.
It was even suggested that Carol kinda ghosted on fixing things for 30 years. On top of that, she was constantly trying to inconvenience Dar-Benn, bumping into her Kree squad at every intergalactic pit stop. It's like she's got a hobby: messing with their plans. Meanwhile, Hala's sun is looking like a BBQ pit, and Carol's just chilling like it's not her problem. Bit weird.
Carol, the Unintentional Walking Disaster:
“Death seems to follow you”- Dar-Benn
And that brings me to the “Kree-Skrull Peace treaty” between Supremor Dar-Benn and Emperor Drog’e on Tarnax. So, did Carol's intervention send the peace treaty straight into disaster mode? Dar-Benn was untrustworthy, and made last-minute changes to the agreement much to the annoyance of the Skrulls and she seemed very impatient when it came to ‘unnecessary precautions’, so who knows. Either way, Dar-Benn was ready for a showdown with Carol. It's like she knew our Hero™ too well and had her villain defense kit on standby. It's cosmic irony at its finest. Carol shows up to be the hero, and next thing you know, Dar-Benn's activating the bangle, and stripping the colony of its breathable atmosphere without evacuating its inhabitants first.
In a scene prior to this, Fury tried warning Carol to stay away but she still chose to play into Dar-Benn's hands.
Which makes the next scene so incredibly flat. Kamala promises a now orphaned Skrull child that Captain Marvel will fix things when 1) Carol has broken her promise to Monica, 2) She hasn’t yet found the Skrulls a new planetary home, and 3) Hala's suffering is apparently just background noise to her.
They could at least have explored the trope Never meet your heroes, or included more flashbacks. Don't get me wrong, the trio's banter and teamwork are cute, but that "lie" following Carol around is like a clingy ex – it just won't let her be. As a superhero journey, there could have been more emotional depth. More stakes. Ahem, more length to the movie, perhaps?
Tumblr media
→ A rumored deleted scene that would have changed everything:
Captain Marvel had a lot of deleted scenes. Some were featured in  the extras, like Yon-Rogg visiting the Supreme Intelligence and seeing himself, and, Yon-Rogg teaching a class of young students about the Skrulls. And all those scenes which were only mentioned in the interviews :/
There was a short frame featured in the official trailer for The Marvels. And I think the scene went something like this: Monica and Carol land on Hala. But there's something different – rain, a phenomenon the Kree survivors have never experienced. It's a celestial celebration, thanks to none other than DAR-BENN, who brought atmosphere and water back to their desolate world. As the rain falls on Hala for the first time, Carol has an epiphany. The Annihilator label isn't just some cosmic exaggeration; it's the bitter truth from the Kree's perspective. She gazes at the struggling survivors, realizing that in their eyes, she's the great villain who razed their home. The weight of her actions hits Carol like a cosmic punch and she grapples with the realization that stopping Dar-Benn might mean destroying Hala all over again.
Tumblr media
Kamala, the Marvel We All Need:
So, the first time I rewatched the movie was all thanks to Kamala <3 She's like the beacon of hope in the MCU, bringing a fresh vibe that we didn't know we needed. Who wouldn't want her as their superhero BFF?
Tumblr media
Dar-Benn, the Fashionista Villain?:
Now, let's talk about the 'queen', Dar-Benn. This Supremor's got style for days. Three different outfits or more. At least. Earrings, nail polish, rings on both hands – she's like the Empire's fashion icon. Wonder if that was intentional… hard to tell because there was zero backstory on her! Did she know Vers and Yon-Rogg? She was a Starforce operative after all. What about Ronan? In the comics, Dar-Benn had a joint Emperor Ael-Dann. Is that character also gender-swapped? What happened to them?
But, oh, that villain smile of hers that we loved? Poof, gone. A tragedy that hit me harder than Thanos' snap lol. Now she’ll just be another forgettable tale in the Marvel universe, "Why, writers, why?". But I'm not ready to say goodbye to my Supremor crush just yet. There will be a whole post and a new fic dedicated to Dar-Benn soon.
Now the last act annoyed me. Dar-Benn, exhausted from carrying the weight of saving Hala solo, faces a three-on-one beatdown from Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Monica. Where was her army? Bodyguards? I mean, seriously? The Kree Empire, with all its might, couldn't spare a helping hand? Heck, even her right-man Ty-Rone, who was practically her personal fussing machine? Did they all vanish into thin air, or did Carol perhaps pull another "I'll fly through your spaceship" stunt?
Either way, it's like the ultimate cosmic irony – the most stylish Supremor left to face the music alone.
Tumblr media
CGI Magic and a Sudden End:
The scene where Carol returns to reignite Hala's sun – pure cinematic wizardry. The first time had me on the edge of my seat, especially since it mirrored the iconic frame from the comic "Captain Marvel: The End." But then, bam! We're abruptly whisked away from the Kree people celebrating to Carol, looking all majestic. Cut to the next scene, and I'm left staring at the screen like, "Wait, what happened to Hala?" Their leader is gone (again), and there's still the looming shadow of famine. I need answers, and I need them now. Did the sun reignition fix everything, or is Hala still stuck in a perpetual struggle? Did the Kree people get the closure they needed, or are they just left in limbo? It's like Marvel handed us a box of questions and said, "You figure it out!"
Closing Thoughts: A Marvelous Cosmic Ride
Great movie. Would I watch it again? Absolutely. Each time unveils new details and new emotions. Waiting for the deleted scenes and the official art book.

Just watched The Marvels and decided to write a fic about Dar-Benn. She really deserves more attention.
Summary
They say she’s cold and ruthless. Unfeeling. Your typical wayward Accuser. Her sole life purpose: hunting down Captain Marvel - a reckless obsession consuming everything she once held dear. But here’s the truth; Dar-Benn was once a lot like Vers. A Starforce recruit with a heart full of ambition and every opportunity to excel.
The destruction of Hala changed everything.
