Bellamy was hurt not mad
I have see a lot of posts about how Bellamy and Clarke needed to have an explosive conversation. In fact I sincerely thought they would because they would both be so angry with each other.
But we see Clarke forgive Bellamy when she is talking to Echo and then Madi. She realized that what Bellamy did was to save his people. She didn’t need him to apologize or explain himself to her. She forgave him the minute she found out he was alive.
And Bellamy forgives Clarke after a four sentence conversation with Madi. I think this is because he was never really mad at her, he was just hurt. Clarke’s memory is what made him become who he is. He thought of her everyday in space. So when she left him to die, he thought she didn’t care about him, and that hurt him the most.
He thought he had his Clarke back here. He was so in awe of her for surviving alone, and when she leaves he realizes that she is closed off.
This is right after she slaps him. Look at his face. He feels guilty for betraying her. He isn’t filled with rage that she slapped him.
Right before this Madi tells Bellamy that Clarke cares about him, and he snaps back “so much that she left me to die in the pits”. He was not ready to forgive her, and he looked like nothing Madi said would make a difference. Until she tells him that Clarke cares so deeply that she called him every frickin’ day for six years. He immediately turns to look her. Unable to believe what he’s heard. Hope returning back to him.
If he was truly angry that would not have made a difference to him.
That’s why when he sees her again after they are all back inside he is back to his old self with her. He had time to process that she does care about him, and that’s all he really needed.
He looks like he wants to say something else, but stops himself, he’s happy with her having her back on his side.
The line about the commander making him not be angry at Clarke was him flirting. Obviously he wouldn’t take Madi’s orders on that, and he wasn’t angry so it was easy to say that.
They are so comfortable with each other here. There is no akwardness. He just pulls her closer and she accepts.
Something to think about: what would have happened if Echo walked in on them? That’s not a quick hug, that’s a I’m holding on to you for support and comfort. I know I wouldn’t be happy if my SO was like that with someone else.
I know Jason’s interviews don’t give us much hope. But I think season 6 will be great for Bellarke fans. They are finally starting a season together (the only other time they were together was season 4 - which was amazing). And not only that, they are on the same side. So we’ll get a lot more bellarke content and I’m excited.
