rugged maniac OCR 2023
i had the amazing opportunity to join one of my friends for an obstacle course race/mud run for the first time this past weekend! i’ve never run in a race of any kind really, so this was exciting as both a race and an obstacle course! the course was a 5k running course filled with like, 20-30 obstacles including climbing over walls/ladders/fences of many kinds, huge slides, rope net climbing, crawling under barbed wire through mud pits, and so much more.
i stayed with my friends the whole time and i didn’t really train, so we walked a good chunk of it. there were tons of hills, sandy trails, forest paths, and other terrain that made running even harder anyway. safe to say i definitely wasn’t running for time, just for fun!
it was so incredibly fun to push my body and just let myself have fun and go crazy. it was like an adult playground on steroids!! the endorphin rush was incredible and even a few days later i still feel so excited and proud just talking about it. i am 100% doing this again, and would recommend to anyone else who’s thinking about it!

DB Bench press (T2): 3x8 30lbs
Lat pull down (T3): 3x8 75lbs

🏃🏻‍♀️💨 did a 5k training run today… had to stop twice to catch my breath. It was a blast. I’ve taken the last few weeks pretty easy in terms of exercise and it felt good to push it again.
Also 🤬 tumblr for eating my photo quality but y’all had better be used to low quality photos from me by this point 🫠

pics from my last long run!! pre-run, post-run, and trail pics.
i set out last saturday to do a 10K and i did it! the stars must’ve aligned, bc it was cool out (low 70s F), a little breezy, not too sunny, not humid, and i felt SO good. i kept telling myself, just keep running as slowly as you need to. keeping my steps short always helps so much, and i was able to go the entire way running, only stopping to walk for about 30 seconds - 1 minute maybe 3 times total?
in case it’s not obvious, i NEVER run that well for such a long period of time, so this feels like a huge accomplishment. i still can’t believe im the kind of person who enjoys running now, but it’s really all i wanna do lately.

here’s a screenshot of my stats as well - as you can see, i got slower as i went on, but my average pace was still below 12 minutes/mile!
this is really solidifying my feelings that it’s time to turn the focus more to running for the summer, and dial back the weightlifting a bit. i want to do the things that make me happy, and these runs make me feel so good!!

some recent workout pics!
i decided on a whim to go on a run after work yesterday, and it was great! (unfortunately, humid and VERY buggy, but still nice) i tried to keep running the whole time unless i was at a crosswalk, and i only stopped to genuinely take a walk break once! as you can see, running on a low elevation on roads and not trails brought my pace way down to 10:39/mile!
second set of pics are from a weight lifting workout on sunday. i did NOT want to go and i stayed in bed for most of the day, then finally dragged my butt out of bed at like 2pm to go to the gym. i was really dreading weightlifting and just wanted to go on a light jog or ride the stationary bike, but once i started working out i got into it. i thought i was going to backslide on everything since i haven’t done weightlifting in a week prior, but i actually made progress in so many areas! this was the first time i was able to get 3x12 shoulder press at 25 pounds! i’ve been working on that for like, a few months now. the dumbbell cleans also felt so smooth and easy, and i felt so good by the end i even added in some leg raises for shits and giggles! sometimes the workouts i dread end up being the best ones!
im very sore and tired now, but feeling good that i’ve been pushing myself!
