Offerings and their Removal
Disclosure, this may not apply to everyone! Cherry pick it if that works for you, or take none at all. Just no hate or arguments in the comments!
Definition- Offering - Something given to an entity or deity to show appreciation. This can also be something done or said to show appreciation.
~~~~~Types of Offerings~~~~~~
Food- In ancient tradition, the first bites of food were thrown into the fire to be sent through the gods by smoke. However, this isn't an option for many people these days. Alternative methods are favored.
Fire - The old methods are still applicable if available. If one has a bon fire or fire-place/hearth, the first bite of food can still be "smoked" , per-say.
Prayer - A small prayer can be said over food before the first bite is taken. Just a simple "Entity/spirit, please accept this offering, Blessed Be" or something similar can suffice. This, for some deities like Hestia can be done at the end too. This is more convenient for a hidden practice and for those who can't afford to waste food.
Altar- If you have an altar, or ever a small bowl, they can place the first bite of food there for the deity entity too.
Objects and Trinkets- Just like us, deities/entities love little trinkets. Whether it be a few coins you find nice to a statue or an engraved candle. Whatever it my be, it can be given to an entity with a prayer and/or on an altar in their honor.
Removables - There are some things that can be placed on altar and taken off. I like to call them removables. When placed on an altar, one could say "Entity/Deity, bless this object, with your energy and blessings." let it sit for a moment or cleanse with incense. If a clothing item, accessory, or perfume, you can take it off and use/wear it. Just remember to put it back to refresh the energy and discuss before taking it off for the first time.
Actions - There are also things that one can do in offer of a deity or entity. They can be small things, like prayers, to full-on rituals.
Prayer- This is probably the easiest in my opinion. It can be a small "Hey entity/deity, I appreciate you." on the go, or reciting a hymn or a prayer by the altar. It's incredibly diverse and can meld to any practice.
Chores - This can apply more to some deities than others, but just Keeping your room and house tidy can be done in honor of a deity. Altars specifically can be cleaned or re-arranged as an offering
Art-In ancient times, arts of every kind were offered to deities ant spirits. And it can fit most anyone's style.
Music- written specifically or just a song you think reminds you of them. Drawings/Paintings- try thing that reminds you of the deity or how you see them can be drawn or painted. Others- Pottery, Dance, Crocheting or handy crafts, or even more. All can be done in offering to a deity. Specifics - If you have done research into who you're offering to, you can offer specific things. Sleep for Hypnos, Baking bread for Hestia, Rehearsing if in the arts for Dionysus, etc. Self Care- This not a lot of people think applies, however the gas most want you to be kind to your self. whether it be a bath with oils, flower petals, and all the works to just brushing your teeth at night. All would make the gods/entities very proud of you!!
~~~~~~~Disposal~~~~~~~
This is something a bit more difficult; You did the thing, you think it's time, now what do you do? A decent chunk of this section was taken from @khaire-traveler. Obviously, actions cannot be "removed" Once the action is complete, the offering is sent.
Food- khaire narrowed it into 4 options that I really like. Just remember, when on an alter, don't let it sit too long for health concerns (rotting, bugs, etc.)
Consume - After praying aver the food like I had mentioned before.
Bum - Also mentioned before, but can be done after sitting at an altar for awhile.
Bury- Food offerings. if safe for local wildlife, can be buried. "My logic in burying them (only if environmentally safe) is returning the offering to the earth in a sense." (khair-3) (Yes its MLA cited, AP capstone has rotted my brain) If that fits Your practice, it is a good option.
Dispose, - This, like everything else here, must be done with respect. Clarify with the entity/deity that you aren't doing so out of disrespect, rather because this is your preferred disposal style or your only option
Objects/Art Pieces- If you have this ability, talk to your entity/deity about it, clarify there is no disrespect in the removal, and give the deity some time to de-attach to it. Slowly, the energy will fade from the object when kept away from the altar. This doesn't need to a ritual, but can be if that's what you prefer
Thank you for reading! This is my first fore into the pagan-sphere, so if this is something a lot of people like, I'll continue! Blessed Be, Alyssa the Witch!

About Me
Hello!!
I'm The Witchy Witch, also known by the names of Azami and A. J. Snow. I use she/her pronouns and I’m a Leo sun, Taurus Moon, and Scorpio Rising!
I consider myself an eclectic witch, and I'm Muslim-Pagan. (I'm always open to questions about this!)
Currently, I'm focusing on practical magic, and I'm in the process of learning more about Appalachian folk practices. A lot of my practice is rooted in Middle Eastern beliefs and practices as well.
A lot of the plants I use in my practice, I collect myself from outside! I live in West Virginia, and it is full of amazing plants that have both medicinal and magical properties.
Some of my favourite forms of magic include sympathetic magic, poppet magic, container spells & magic, sigils, candle magic, kitchen magic, divination, astrology, potion brewing, perfume witchcraft, and using magical oils & powders.
A large part of my pagan practices specifically are centered around kemeticism; I'll also say now that it's simply a coincidence that I'm also Egyptian. You don't need to be Egyptian to be Kemetic. The Egyptian pantheon is open! It is not a closed practice <3
I also work with (president) Caim of the goetia, so I reblog information related to demonolatry even though I don't consider myself a demonolater.
Please feel free to ask any questions!

Resourcefulness in the Craft
You can divine by throwing twigs and pebbles onto a graph you made with a sharpie and some printer paper, or use said printer paper to make your own cartomancy deck.
Use cool stuff you find outside as offerings if you want.
My mom taught me how to make wreaths out of porcelain vine or wild grape vines when I was a child, try it. Or teach yourself how to weave a basket.
Use dried "kindling" twigs to make a small besom in the fall.
Find interesting places outdoors, mark them on maps. Create your own correspondences for components you find while out and about.
Raid your own art or office supply storage boxes.
Use twine or tape for binding spells, use staples for curses, fold origami for attracting abundance, use paperclips for memory spells.
And sticky notes for sigils. And felt for poppets.
And a binder with loose leaf notebook paper for your grimoire! Spice it up with dividers for different topics!
Spending money on the tools and ingredients to make a money bowl is incredibly counter-intuitive. Grab stuff from the kitchen like rice, cinnamon, and basil, and stuff from outside like broadleaf plantain, blades of grass, and a cool rock. Scribble some sigils on yellow or green sticky notes, gather some loose change, and toss it all in a bowl you already have with your intention layered between your ingredients and components.
Magical practitioners have always used what was around them. Being resourceful is part of the practice :)

Palmistry 101
Alrighty y’all so this is the first informational post in my palmistry post series, where I share my personal notes and information I’ve gathered through experience as a semi-professional palmist. The first post, Palmistry 100, is available here if you’d like to read it.
This post will be a bit long, so everything is available under the cut!
Okay so the first thing we’ll cover is which hand to read. Short answer? We absolutely read both hands. We do this to get a more complete and full understanding of someone’s personality. The dominant hand shows the outward personality, actions, and what they’ve done with what they were given, sorta like the sun sign in astrology. The non-dominant hand shows the more inner workings, someone’s inclinations, and more of their way of thinking/reflections, sorta like the moon sign in astrology. Think conscious versus subconscious. So what do we do if someone is ambidextrous? First, I ask them which hand they default to when it comes to writing. Most of the time, they will tell you clearly. On the rare chance that someone says they write with both, check the flexibility of their thumb—the hand with the less flexible thumb is their dominant hand.
That’s cool, now we know to read both hands, now what? How do we study this before going out into the world offering our friends and families readings? Because that’s a lot of pressure. Slow down there tiger, you’ve probably got a long way before doing an in-person reading, especially for someone with a lot of questions. The best way to study palms can be broken down into 2.5 parts.
Number 1, take a print! All you need is some paper and ink. Cover your hand in ink (one at a time of course) and push firmly into the paper. If done correctly, you should be able to clearly see the lines in your hands and even your finger prints and palmar ridges. Here’s an example:
Tumblr media
Prints are fantastic for learning, because not only are you able to clearly see the lines and use them as a reference for study, but now you have a print that you can use to compare your hands in the future, because a lot of the lines in your hands will change over time. Having a print allows you to take your time when studying and learning to read palms, much better than asking your curious mom to check her palms and then getting a borage of “What do you see?” and “What does that mean?”
Number 2, pictures! Phone cameras have come a very long way over the years, and most people are able to capture a fairly good image of someone’s palm. The reason this is less preferred than a print is because not only will some of the minor lines and the palmar ridges be basically invisible, but you also won’t be able to measure the fingers against each other (which we’ll get into in a different post). That being said, they’re still a great resource to have, especially if you’re not able to take a print for any variety of valid reasons.
2.5? 2.5 includes pictures of celebrity hands, which can be found accompanying readings from other palmists sometimes, just like is done with celebrity astrology. I would recommend to ignore the other palmist’s reading and just study the palms, especially of the dominant hand, and try to match your findings with the way said celebrity portrays themselves, especially in interviews. For example, Hillary Clinton has a simian line, which in short, makes a lot of sense for her based on her career in politics. Jim Carrey has a long ring finger, sometimes known as the Apollo finger, which is found in a lot of people drawn to being the star of the room, and some people in the public eye like actors and comedians (and I’m not just saying that). You can also find plenty, and I mean plenty, of palm pictures on reddit, specifically r/palmistry, which I will absolutely recommend to beginners as a studying resource once you learn a few things to pinpoint.
So we’ve identified some great ways to get your hands on some other hands, which is fantastic. Learning to read for strangers helps you to build you objectivity when reading—it removes bias from your readings, which sharpens your knowledge on the topic.
In the next post, we’ll begin the discussion on the major lines of the palms, which is where I usually start my readings.

Omg not to hijack your post but:

I have a rosary too!! I also made it myself so it's totally infused with positive energy and I love it so much. I frequently wear it as a necklace :D
Tumblr media
Not a great photo, but I created my very own witch's rosary! I am absolutely in love with it. I used a jewelry elastic so it would be easier for me to use. And that way it has some extra give to it in case it gets caught on something. I have also written my own prayers to go with it as well. I made this to help me have a deeper connection with the deities I work with. Just love it so much.

the mundane nature of astrology is often overlooked. even a simple category such as a pen can be described as having many differing planetary qualities depending on its innate form and context.
A classical ballpoint pen used for writing is mercurial. A dashing fountain pen used for calligraphy is Venusian and yet also saturnine in the nature of the controlled spurs of ink that spiral out from its tip.
A pen used for lawmaking or recording important truths is jupiterian.
a soft thick nibbed pen used to write feelings is lunar, though the colored highlighter used for quick remarks and the angry scratching out of imperfections in wording is as Martian as a bloody fist.

Nervous about using a sigil
I’ve recently been learning about sigils as I saw something about them online and they really called to me and interested me alot. I’ve done a bit of research and I really wanna try it but im kinda nervous..I feel like I shouldnt been controlling my life like that?
Idk how to explain it exactly but, I wanted to make a sigil to give me motivation to write more frequently but I wasnt sure if I should do it because how would I know im a good writer or set a good writing routine if im using a sigil yk?
Or, I wanted to make a sigil to help me focus in school but ive also started taking adhd meds and how will I know if they work if im using a sigil as well? Idk those are the kinda worrys im having rn and id love some insight.
Thank you!
Hey anon!
I understand your worries behind sigil magic, so I'm going to address them from my own personal perspective.
Using a sigil for motivation doesn't mean that you're not a good writer, just like how using a sigil for creativity doesn't mean you're not naturally creative. We all go through periods where we're not exactly at our full capacity, and that's normal. Using a sigil doesn't detract from your natural or inherent abilities.
When it comes to your medicine, try going a few weeks without any magic related to focus so you can be sure that your medicine is working as intended. Follow all the advice your prescribing physician is giving you. Once you know everything is working as intended, then you can try using a focus sigil whenever you need a bit of extra attention, like during tests for example.
You're able to make big changes to your life however you choose and however you see most fit. If that includes sigils, great! If not, that's fine too! It's normal to be nervous when you're first getting into magic of any kind, but don't pressure yourself into doing anything that makes you uncomfortable, okay?
I hope this helps! Feel free to send another ask if you need to :)
