Hey y'all! I'll be catching up on tag games and chapter 1 here soon, I've just been a bit busy this week (started a couple of my online kitchen courses and just became head cook where I work and moving during a snowstorm).
Feel free to keep tagging me and you're always welcome to drop asks in the ask box! Writing, husband and cat rambles, and life updates are all fair game for the ask box.
See y'all soon!

— looking for more fantasy writeblrs! ⚔️
after a few years of hiatus, I’m back! but…that means almost everyone I followed went inactive. please like, reblog, or reply to this post so I can find some folks to follow!!
particularly interested in writing blogs that…
- write fantasy, especially fae/elves or less popular fantasy “species” (dwarves, angels, orcs, you name it!)
- write myth, fairy tale, or folklore retellings
- have things published (whether that means on a retail site or just on your blog; I want to read!)
- write lgbt+ characters, double points for lgbt+ fantasy stuff
- write new adult or adult books. i love YA too but I write and read more new adult these days!
— about me
I’m a 20-something author who writes…pretty much what I described above. Fantasy novels that focus more on emotions and characters and world than wild adventures, often with lgbt+ characters or romances. I love elves of the Dragon Age variety, Greek myths, fairy tales, and moral ambiguity.

Enter Illyich and Erastus. A young thief too skilled to keep his humanity and a vampire bent on closing the rifts into the Red. Both want to improve the lives of those around them, but life is dark inside the Clockwork Cities and every path is paved in blood.
Prologue beneath the cut.
Erastus stood atop The Spire, a bell tower between the three walled Clockwork Cities.
The Clockwork Cities. A place where the night was red and the days were a never ending gray twilight of rain and shadows. The walls stretched high enough to hide most views of the outside world, and no mortal would ever wander beyond the enclosed and windowless tunnels that allowed travel between the three hubs of humanity in an otherwise barren wasteland. Once upon a time, he had hoped that when he reached The Spire, he would see sprawling forests and blue skies, but there was no such hope.
He had done what the humans of the Clockwork Cities could never do. He had left the walls, reached The Spire, and ascended to the top. But the view offered him no new insights. The world was as barren as it was said to be beyond the walls, with dead dirt and prowling hapless creatures stretching to all four horizons. Perhaps beyond those horizons, there would be something else, but he didn’t dare try to traverse the wastelands. Between the walls and The Spire, at least there were tangled gardens and old castle walls and bits of underground sewers. It wasn’t much, but it was some cover. But beyond the cities, there was nothing but open space. Even here, he saw nothing but conglomerations of misshapen monsters that had been badly mutated in the Red. No doubt they once roamed the waking world as more beautiful creatures.
He wanted to remain hopeful. He wanted to believe that beyond these lands, there were places like those he had known so many eras ago. That they weren’t lost. That this world could still be saved and maybe, just maybe, even be rejoined with the Afterworld.
But as the sky overhead crackled and split open and the red haze began to descend upon the cities, that hope faded ever so slightly.

Roll call: writer time
Who works either part or full time
Who is a student either part or full time
Combos? Neither?
I'm just wondering who of us has what kind of time technically available to write (golly that sentence)
I'll start. I work full-time. I am not a student, and I have exactly two non-work engagements that eat into my "writing time". Chances are, when "I really should be writing" I really should be working. Or sleeping.

Are you currently published or publishing a novel in 2023? Are you a writeblr or active writer on tumblr?
Hey everyone! I want to dedicate two months in 2023 to reviewing the published works of indie and self-published authors of tumblr. The current state of the publishing industry frustrates me as both a consumer and future author, but I see the imaginative works of so many fellow writers through this app and hope that we can collectively shine a spotlight on the talent showcased here. My reviews will be posted across social media platforms and shared on all major book review sites (like Goodreads, Amazon, B&N, Indigo).
I do not want free ARCs or copies of your work. I personally believe it’s important for us to increase the book sales of smaller, debut authors so they can find a larger audience. I will pay for all of my copies, as I have the means to do so.
I do want you to please reblog this post and share the title, link, genre, and description of the book you have published or will be publishing in 2023.
Feel free to use or adjust the below sample template, or respond with your own.
Please reblog and boost!
Author name:
Relevant social media: (any social media you would want potential readers to seek out)
Book title:
Genre:
Word count:
Summary:
Trigger warnings:
Publication date: (if known)

AND WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!
The poll for the first round of tales has ended! Here's the order of posting:
3. Tales of a Dream Mage
2. Tales of the Old Forest
And finally, our winner and the official first tale:
1. Tales of the Clockwork Cities!!!!
Get ready for a dark fantasy brimming with heists, creatures of the night, and deadly spells as our rainbow colored cast of characters discover what led to the creation of The Red, a festering wound that is slowly destroying the heart of Aravir the Afterworld, and how they can stop it (if they even can).
Welcome to a world where the sun never shines and every path in life is paved in blood.
See you all in the first few excerpts! And in chapter 1 once I finish the first round of edits 👀

Another Heads Up 7 Up
I’m playing catch up with some tag games today! Thank you @mariahwritesstuff for tagging me. Here’s the rules:
Rules: Post seven sentences from your latest WIP and then tag (up to) seven people to do the same
I tag @a-fox-who-writes @notwritinganyflufftoday @raevenlywrites @aquixoticwrites @the-orangeauthor @mattwritesmonsters @writing-is-a-martial-art and whoever else would like to do this!
Here’s 7 lines (and maybe just a tad extra) from Tales of the Old Forest (which you can vote for to be posted next here ):
"Magic is as unnatural as those who wield it!" their leader barked, still fighting the magic that bound her hands to the ground.
"I don't believe that," Cedric answered, refusing to let his voice falter.
"Let em show you something beautiful," his voice echoed with the casting of a spell.
Orbs from Aravir descended from the sky, pulsing with soft multi-colored lights.
They floated about on the breeze, bouncing off of the people and sheep and dogs.
A rainbow of flowers never seen before blossomed through out the entirety of the field; the trees grew taller, reaching for the sky, and glowing with the faint blue light of the Afterworld Gateways.
“This is magic,” he told them and dropped his hands, releasing the guards, except for their leader. Some stood, some stayed on their knees, all of them looked around as the most beautiful things of Aravir bled into the waking world.

Heads Up 7-Up Tag Game
Thank you @mattwritesmonsters for tagging me!
Rules: Post seven sentences from your latest WIP and then tag (up to) seven people to do the same.
I have several WIPs that I’m working on. I typically work on 2-4 of the tales at once, so here is 7 lines from “Tales of a Dream Mage” Which is up for vote to be posted here. Now, onto the lines:
It was his clothing that stood out most to Cecilio.
The crest of the monster hunting guild from the eastern-more fields was sewn into the half-cape over his left shoulder.
Two mismatched shortswords were fastened to a belt that hung lopsided at his waist.
Monster-hunting mercenaries were rather infamous for earning most of their equipment through contracts or having them fashioned from the scales, talons, or fangs of their targets, leading to notable collections of patchwork gear that became the stuff of legend.
His gaping silence must have made Idalia unnerved because she bristled and handed Baby Viviana to Cecilio before repeating herself.
"How can I help you?"
"I'm looking for the Dream Mage."

Hello! My name situation is complicated, but go ahead and call me Ram or any of the given names in my bio. I've been in the writeblr community since 2019, but decided to separate my ramblings and my writing and figured a new intro was in order:
I'm 25
Pronouns are he/him
Write primarily fantasy and romance with main casts of LGBTQ and disabled characters (content is 18+ on this writeblr)
Am a cat dad
Am so gay that the rainbow spilled out of my sexuality and got all over my gender. Or vice versa, it was a very chicken or the egg situation
Can be found at @briefconnoisseurwolf as well, in case you also want to see funny little posts and ramblings about my cats and husband
I'm bad at these, but I think I've got the bases covered! Thank you for reading and welcome to The Tales
