A Mini Essay about our new record and the state of things. Don't be afraid..
So a lot of people have been asking us exactly what is going on with our new record, and rightfully so, as the observant amongst you are aware we completed ‘III' nearly 3 months ago.
We recall a time when bands released multiple singles from albums, radio stations played them, people got genuinely excited, bought them with b-sides, MTV played decent videos, we watched them over and over, and had the songs constantly on repeat.
We’re trying to take it back in a similar way, visually.
We released ‘Chrysalis’ as a video 2 months ago today, and that was the first song you heard from ‘III’
We’re doing it again this Christmas/New Year for another song from the record called ‘Sleepwalker’
Once we’ve seen how that goes down, we might even do it again for another song from the record.
This is how much we believe each song has its own story to tell.
The films we’ve made, and are continuing to make that accompany our music, express their content in a way that we love, and it will always be a perfect outlet to tell these stories, and hopefully you agree.
So when will ‘III’ be out in its entirety? At this point we genuinely haven’t decided, but tentatively it can be expected, with, or without label support sometime around February/March 2015.
Sob stories aside, it is tough to be an independent band, to get people to listen to music and stay interested these days, especially when trying to keep you informed via social media that sadly restricts our reach and attention spans, but we’re trying our best.
We hope you'll stick with our approach, and trust us that the record in its entirety is one worth waiting for.

So me and Lloydo went and watched this on our man date on Friday night. I'm not going to ruin it by "reviewing" it. Just go bloody watch it. It took us about an hour (and 4 drinks each) to stop feeling weird afterwards. Incredible stuff.

I’m always such a softie for sweeping, cinematic indie alt rock music. I’m also, obviously, quite the anglophile when it comes to music, without really meaning to be. On the other hand, I’m such a staunch supporter of home grown music and a lover of the sunshine warmth of our gorgeous American coast lines. The Cold Start is a perfectly balanced combo of all of these things. They’re originally from England, moved over to Los Angeles, and now reside in Orlando, Florida. The band has just finished recording their 3rd EP, titled III, and they’ve released a video for the first single, Chrysalis, a beautiful Coldplay meets Bastille and Houses treat that ebbs and swells with endless emotion and shiver inducing beauty. Its luminosity and earnest sentiment seem to mirror and embody all of the places The Cold Start has journeyed from and to.

So we found out this week that we were featured on episodes 9 and 11 of the third series of Best Ink (Love, Hate, Sunset is on episode 9 when everyone is crying because they have to say goodbye to their partners. Episode 11 I don't have a clue about because I've been watching too much football but it's Safe + Sound). We're currently awaiting our invite onto the next Fall Out Boy tour as that's how it all goes in the business. Cheers for getting us on TV to our best mate Pete. Good lad.
