Throwback Thursday-- In Mandarin class last grading period, we did an analysis of two poems and connected them to one common theme with a drawing of our own. This was at the same time our band @scalewulf was preparing for our debut performance, and I felt a lot of the words from each connected to the theme of our first song we were performing there at the same time. ••• The lyrics are very personal to my experiences with dissociation and existential dread, unhealthy attempts to cope with pain by avoiding it. Rather than teaching oneself to grow cold and denying of hurt's conceptuality, I believe it is important to acknowledge the intensity of our feelings in the moment before we question the presence of our perception as elements in an omnipresent universe. In time, succumbing to sensitivity will help not only oneself escape from a black-holed spiral, but also learn to be sensitive for other beings, creating one's own meaning to accept the unknown. After a year of reminiscing over Jul Maroh's 12/12/2021 interview in San Francisco at the California College of Arts, I've finally built up the courage to post a piece I had drawn on the exact same day/year for the amazing graphic novel "Blue is the Warmest Color" I had read and had signed by one of my favorite comic artist @julmaroh themselves! Blue is The Warmest Color is a bittersweet tale which tells the tale of young girl Clementine's awakening in lesbian identity. It takes you on an emotional rollercoaster and puts you in the intimate boots that walk through the complexities of love in queer perspective. It tackles many issues and philosophies with moving quotes from characters navigating pride, passion, heartbreak, and more. Blue is the Warmest Color is a must-read. After an entire year of procrastination, I finally finished the cover artwork to celebrate @girlinred coming to SF for performances April 11-12th(the one I'm going to tomorrow)!! Happy Birthday to GROM! It has been exactly 1 year since Episode 16 of The Owl House season 1 "Enchanting Grom Fright" aired on Disney Channel, sparking the first piece of explicit LGBTQ+ representation for a main character Luz on Disney Channel, and a new era of LGBTQ+ cartoons for mainstream kids media. It has been over two weeks since the day of last year Breonna Taylor was shot while sleeping in the false safety of her home. Today, the same cops walk free, while racist bootlickers and elites alike defend their murder. Once in 6th grade, there was a competition on drawing a poster about peace. To switch expectations of the white dove, I decided to draw a rainbow dragon who breathed only peace.   Though I have always worked for social progression, I also always have a lot more to learn. Back then, I thought peace would simply happen if we all stopped fighting. Though that may be the final result, the destination must not be confused with the journey. We must not let the authorities tell us to stay still while they continue to inflict harm. Before peace, there is another substance that's made, it is action. It is fire. It becomes harder for the system to ignore the dragon's raging breath when it beckons across the village, the city, the nation, the world. We must make our voices heard and make them understand why we peace dragons roar in their faces for a change, so they no longer ruthlessly pillage our brother's and sister's homes like animals. Even once justice is served for this one horrible time, there is still so much more to fix before this red-heat can cool down to true equality, but that should not stop us from speaking up now and never stopping, it shall put that motivation in our hearts to work for at least this person in the moment who suffered an unjust experience of systematic racism and bigotry. I cannot give less of a shit about upsetting the people who still do this. Yes, we burned a blue lives matter flag. Yes, we flipped the bird of no forgiveness right in the faces of the people who chose to be pigs, but none of that is nearly as horrible, none of it is important as the life we lost, and the many more we have lost, are losing, and will lose if this doesn't stop. ARREST THE COPS WHO KILLED BREONNA TAYLOR. INDICT THE SYSTEM THAT CONSTANTLY PUTS BLACK LIVES BELOW HUMAN.
