This is so fucking funny, apparently “war bad” is liberal propaganda now??? Yes, war IS bad you fucking dipshit.
All Quiet on the Western Front (the original book) was written by a German WWI veteran who was determined to show just how utterly horrifying, disgusting, and senseless the war- and by extension all war- was. The book and its adaptations take great pains to portray the suffering endured by the common soldiers on both sides, who didn’t even really want to fight but were manipulated/forced into it by those in power. The book was even banned in Nazi Germany and the author had to flee the country because the Nazis believed the book was “anti-German” and would hamper their war efforts by showing the German people the real horrors of war.
So in some ways I guess history is repeating itself, more right-wing idiots are hating on this brilliant piece of anti-war media 🙄

wistfully remembering how people (pretended they) cared about antisemitism when it was primarily coming from the right. like there are pre-2023 posts with tens of thousands of notes about antisemitism. now any mention of the existence of antisemitism (when its worse than it ever was) doesn’t breach containment outside of jewish circles. its almost funny how quickly people stopped caring when it was inconvenient.

Before every appointment (minus for my allergy shots) my body gets so stressed and triggered because of medical trauma and my mind becomes more negative and pessimistic. I get so frustrated with everything and I am very short tempered with things that become out of my control— my pain, dropping things, stuff not working correctly, my inability to be calm because my body goes into fight or flight.
I feel scared and I hate admitting that because it feels like a weakness that I cannot overpower, but instead it takes over every part of me, forcing me into the darkest space in my mind because all of the memories I have of being gaslit, called crazy and being dismissed. To me being dismissed triggers my problem with abandonment (due to my bpd) and it makes me angrier that they even think about ignoring me and leaving me to just get worse.
I can’t stand doctors, I can barely handle nurses— like the one who congratulated me for losing so much weight even though I told her I was literally starving. I hate not being in control, as if I have any control over my own body. It’s so unfair, it’s demoralizing and exhausting to live in a body that doctors just think is stressed. Like yeah of course I’m stressed, my body is always going AHHHH and you calling me crazy or dismissing me obviously will make it worse.

Okay look. Stephanie Meyer contributed four (4) cool things to the contemporary fantasy genre, which I shall now list here in the hopes of getting it out of my system. In descending order of importance:
1. Writing a story about a girl who wants something. Plot driven by a woman’s (non-vilified) desire. Truly dreadful execution but still a good idea, sort of a literary incarnation of the “he a little confused but he got the spirit” meme.
2. The fact that when Bella becomes a vampire she can still breathe but “there’s no relief tied to the action” which I remember verbatim because it fucking slapped. The idea of human physical sensations being partially defined by our mortality and the sensations still exist after you become undead but your experience of them is fundamentally different because you no longer need any of it? Extremely cool. The closest Meyer came to taking an interesting stance on vampires being dead.
3. Werewolves are immortal but they can literally stop whenever they want. That shit’s hilarious. Curse of immortality who.
4. The fact that vampires don’t sleep or get tired so their communally-raised baby doesn’t have a crib because she is always in someone’s arms. That was extremely cute and there’s a different, better book contained somewhere in that specific concept.
