You ever see those videos of dogs being protective over the family's unborn baby and leaping and nipping at the fathers getting near their pregnant wives? Imagine Zym doing the same to Callum when Rayla is pregnant and Ezran translates it's his turn to protect the baby prince/princess
Given that Zym's grown as much as he has in the last 2 years... and I don't see Rayllum even thinking about having kids until they're like 27 at least (that said whatever a TDP epilogue chooses to give us I will happily accept)...
I don't think anyone will be hurting his lil human nibling anytime soon

Looking at some of the post drafts I wrote at the height of my fever and feeling very relieved that I did not finish or publish any, bc the last thing I needed to do when I already felt like shit was take a big ol’ swing at a hornet’s nest
Tumblr media
#girl why did you TAG IT#(also didn't finish a more vitriolic but far less interesting 'anyone who thinks this show is as good as AtLA has serious brain worms' post)#anyway I still feel bad but now it's just bc my seasonal bronchitis has been reactivated#Guess who's gonna be coughing up mucus for the rest of the fall. yaaaaay#Kumari comments#Kumari procrastinates irl#ngl this was on my mind bc I spent most of my time in bed watching cartoons‚ TeeDeePee included#I revisited a couple episodes from the first and third seasons and I was reminded how much weight was put on 'destroying the egg'#and Harrow being like 'it's horrific' over Viren's choice was just. weird#at least considering all the stuff he /didn't/ take a moral stance on before that point#You could be like 'well some guy destroying a fertilized egg unprompted is very different from someone making a choice about their own body'#but an actual pro-lifer wouldn't make that distinction! any narrative about an innocent unborn life is useful to them#in fact it's /very/ useful that Zym and his mother are completely separate bc then you have to leave the issue of autonomy at the door#that way the story can focus wholly on the importance and beauty and wonder of the egg#and how only evil people would want to destroy it#and just bc it wasn't intentional doesn't mean it's not there (I'm sure the writers didn't intend to write ethnic cleansing apologia either)#idk if I missed someone pointing this out when the show first aired but it is a subject I'm genuinely interested in now#just … maybe not a subject to bring up with the fandom at large#Kumari abuses the tagging system#(Also I revisited that Twitter post and the number of reactionaries in the replies was. significant#not overwhelming but it was clear that some of them weren't random keyword-seeking trolls and actually did watch the show)

152.
When Rayla says her parents, Ezran imagines a mom and a dad, or maybe mom and a mom, or a dad and a dad. He imagines they're people that look like her and sound like her, people who share her sense of humour and took care of Zym when he was an egg at the Storm Spire. He imagines people he would like.
He does not imagine that one of them is the elf that killed his father.
The thought by itself makes him mad. King Harrow was a good king, a just king, and a loving dad who was only doing his best. He didn't have to be assassinated. He didn't have to die. He shouldn't have died, and yeah, his dad did bad things too, but he recognised that, didn't he? His last letter to him and Callum told them that they were free, that they didn't have to continue on this stupid path and this stupid war, that their decisions were theirs and theirs alone. Rayla was fifteen when it all happened, still a child by most standards, raised to be an assassin and sent on a mission to kill him, and she still made the decision not to for a chance at peace. Runaan knew about the egg, they showed it to him and everything, and he still—
Ezran scowls.
It's a whole mess. It gives him feelings he doesn't want and anger he doesn't know what to do with. Rayla keeps the coins with her at all times, and there are moments he just wants to toss them into the ocean or melt them down into something else but how can he do that without hurting her? Without causing her the same pain Runaan caused him?
And when Callum had offered to help—
Ez doesn't like thinking about it. He'd been so angry. He said things he shouldn't have. He and Callum fought like they've never fought before, and at the end of it all...
He's sitting at the edge of a boardwalk now, feet dangling over the edge, the leather of his boots dark with water as he skims his toes over the surface of the sea. He's never hated someone like this before. He's never felt rage or sadness or grief so big.
"You okay?"
Ez sniffles and doesn't look up, even as Rayla drops into the spot next to him and leans her elbows on her knees.
"Fine," he mutters. "What—um—what's up?"
Rayla pauses, her lips pursed, her eyes searching and sad. She was there. She saw the fight. Ez feels like he should apologize but there's a part of him that doesn't want to. Why should he? Is it so wrong for him to hate the elf that killed his dad?
"You don't have to be fine," she says at last. "I know there isn't... really much I can say. Runaan... was like a dad to me but—"
"Don't excuse him," he snaps. His throat hurts. He curls his hands into fists. "Don't."
"I wasn't going to."
"Weren't you?" Ez scowls at her, his anger getting the better of him, growing bigger than he can control. "But what? But it wasn't his fault? But he was just following orders? You had the same orders and you didn't follow through. You were fifteen! You could have lost your hand! What the hell was his excuse?"
"Ezran..."
"Don't Ezran me! He killed my dad! And you and Callum want—" He stops. He swallows. He's crying again, he thinks, but he doesn't care. "I don't care that he was like a dad to you," he snarls. "He killed mine! He killed mine knowing that he didn't have to! And he gets to come out of the coin? He gets to live and my dad doesn't?"
"I'm sorry, Ez—"
"Stop it! Don't act like that means anything! Sorry's not going to bring him back!"
Rayla says nothing to that. She fiddles with her fingers, head bowed, her hair over her eyes, and in the pause, Ezran sees it—the shake in her shoulders, the tears on her cheeks. His anger falters. He hadn't meant—
"I'm sorry," he mutters at last, but Rayla shakes her head.
"You're allowed to be angry," she says. "You're right to be. Sometimes being angry is part of the grief." She sniffles. "I don't blame you for not wanting us to do it. I wouldn't want to, if I were you."
"But you're still going to."
Rayla doesn't answer.
Ezran looks away. The silence between them hurts, but he leans against her anyway, not because it's okay, but because she's basically his sister, and grief and anger and big feelings are easier when they're shared. Her arm curls around his back, a promise that she's there for him no matter what happens, no matter what he feels, and they sit together, and cry together, until it feels like there's nothing left.
"I wish things were different," whispers Rayla.
Ez sniffles. "Yeah," he mutters. "Me too."

It's so cool that the Viren-Claudia-Callum foil triangle each have a different approach to the "I would do anything for you" sentiment that they all define themselves by.
Pre-coma Viren doesn't fully mean it even when he believes he does. He says that his loyalty is to the best interests of his family and humanity, but as K'ppar points out in his dream, he keeps putting his own ambition and self-importance before anything else. He doesn't consider sacrificing his life for Harrow until Harrow brings it up. Even after that, he never once thinks of giving up the dragon prince's egg; the belief that the prince was killed is part of the reason the assassins are here and returning him to them might appease them, might at least make them spare Harrow's son, which the man Viren loves as a brother would obviously want. He orders Soren to kill the princes to guarantee Viren the throne. He orders Claudia to save the egg instead of Soren if she had to choose. Harrow, Ezran, Callum and his own child are not worth losing the power of Zym to his enemies for. He isn't willing to sacrifice his power or vision, his selfish interests, but is instead willing to sacrifice the people he loves, which is why he's evil. The promise is conditional. But what lets him redeem himself is that the love at the base of it really is unconditional. He still loves Harrow and genuinely expresses this in his dream, overwhelmed with relief when he appears to be alive. He still loves his children, even after all the horrible things he does to them and the lack of remorse he shows for those actions until his death. The coma reminds him of that enduring love, and makes him reevaluate how he dismissed it.
Claudia is the opposite. When she says she'll do anything for someone, she means it with everything she has. Herself, her moral integrity, other people's lives, the fate of the world - nothing is more important to her than her perceived responsibility to her loved ones. Including what her loved ones themselves want. But she can also change her mind about who she loves, at least enough to see them as against her rather than with her. Callum is her friend, until he isn't. Soren is her family, until he isn't and only Viren is worth protecting. Like her father’s did before her, her value of Soren’s wellbeing has been slipping from “That’s all that matters” to “That doesn’t matter!” People can be disqualified by opposing her desires and ideology. The promise is unconditional, but the love isn't.
And then you have Callum, who seems to have the best approach of the three. He means his promise when he says it and will never rescind it later on. His devotion is both absolute and everlasting. He will do anything for Ezran and Rayla, putting them before his own interests; and he would never consider them expendable. That's great! After all, having conditions of worth in relationships they don't belong in is bad. It leads to Viren and Claudia hurting, manipulating and betraying their family and friends, and such behaviour feels viscerally wrong. They're traitors. They're abusers. Those are serious crimes. Those labels are grievous insults meaning ‘Bad Person’. But unlike both Viren and Claudia, Callum doesn't have the arrogant belief that he always know best to warp his love into something self-serving. His genuine selflessness prevents him from ever becoming that kind of person. He does cut ties with Claudia, but only after she proves to be untrustworthy and have enduring harmful intent toward him, his brother and Rayla, so it's a perfectly reasonable boundary to set. His version of "I would do anything for you" just makes him caring and heroic. Right?
Until you realize that technically, if he had to kill everyone else on the continent in order to save Ezran and Rayla, all evidence from canon suggests that he would.

If Dark magic is set up to be morally wrong no matter what, we ought to be shown that anything is better than using it.
That Viren *should* have let Soren and the hundreds of thousands of people die starving, that Callum *should* have let Pyrrha and Rayla and Soren and himself and Ezran and Zym be tortured.
The characters must choose to not use it knowing what horrible consequences this choice will bring, and these horrible consequences have to actually happen and have dreadful long term repercussions, and NOT to be Deus-ex-machinaed away.
So no new Arcanum somehow unlocked or dragon somehow showing up just in the right time or anything like it. Just the plain consequences, however horrible.
The closest we got was Harrow's death way back in season one, and even it's consequences were Deus-ex-machinaed via the egg and the frankly insane gamble that Zubeia would agree to stop the war to thank the protagonists.
So far, every time someone used it, it was framed as wrong and unjustifiable no matter the circumstances.
So, okay.
Show us why not using it to save your kid, your friends, your people, and let all of them die, is actually the right thing to do, the right, moral, "no shortcut" path.

Callum Possession Scene (MAJOR SPOILERS)
Callum is sleeping when suddenly he gets up and starts sleepwalking into the dark mage secret cave where Zym's egg was hidden (meanwhile one of the baitlings is following him). He touches the prison pearl, and we see Callum inside the room where Aaravos has been trapped in. Callum inspects the books a bit, sits down in a chair, then notices the broken mirror. We get a shot of Aaravos with the prison pearl in his hand and Callum inside; Aaravos throws it onto the ground and smashes the pearl (just like when Callum dreamt of smashing the sky primal stone during his dark magic dream). Then Callum wakes up with his hands on the prison and he starts to panic. The end!

There is one thing i'm really wondering about.
When did Rayla fall in love with Callum? I mean i get the why, and i ship it "yay" but she was so good at hiding her emotions i can't really pinpoint when she tipped over from "Callum is a friend." to "I can't lose him."
You can pinpoint when she turned from weird ally to friend. It was when Callum asked her to go to the Banther Lodge, his "heartfelt speech" was relatable to her.
We know she was already aware of her own feelings regarding Callum by the time he did dark magic.
We also know she was already very protective of Callum by the time Villads had to stop the Ruthless because of the storm. "If you die out there, i swear i'll kill you."
Before that they were flying on Phoe-Phoe, and before that they were staying with Lujanne where the only thing remotely suggesting any of her feelings was that she was disgusted by Claudia's clear approach to Callum. Which i hardly accept as Soren was also disgusted eventhough he showed support for Callum's approach to Claudia before. And also because... as an aroace i did find it cringe too. Somehow Claudia's romantic relationships end up being cringe.
I'm sorry, idk how to say it nicely but she doesn't seem to do well in romantic relationships. She is very Azula-esque in many ways(i mean... duh) They are both very close family oriented characters, both are essencially victims of their broken family, both are incredibly talented and powerful despite being hella childish because parents forgot to raise them, oops. And being raised so fked up they seem to be unable to form actually functioning romantic relationships.
Even with Terry, i felt like Terry loves her and Claudia is just happy to have a mostly yes-man by her.
But this is a Rayla post, sidenote over.
On Callum's part i'm fairly sure by the time he used dark magic he returned Rayla's feelings, as unaware of it as he was. I mean dude pretty much decided on a whim to throw his principles out the window for Rayla's sake(and ended up corrupting his own soul in the process but he didn't know that)
You'd think that he didn't love Rayla when they were still with Lujanne because he still had a crush on Claudia, but that's not entirely correct.
In the novelization of season 2, when he hangs out with Claudia he is acutely aware of Rayla's whereabouts and opinions and doesn't want Rayla to see him with her even in pretty normal circumstances. The guy just... didn't think it's weird to be hyper aware of someone who he apparently has no feelings for.
So... what's my guess on when Rayla started feeling more than friendship towards Callum?
Hmmm.
Probably when they made up on the frozen lake where they dropped Zym's egg.
And Callum eeeehhh probably earlier he just didn't know? I mean in chapter 14 "the sad prince" he was completely unaware he drew Rayla and he quickly hid it from her when she returned, eventhough Callum is not shy of his drawings.
Siiigh... book 3's novelization is still months away, i wonder what insight that's gonna give.

I was rewatching TDP and in s3e6 Avizandum says to Viren and Harrow that he'll spare their life 'cause that day was a day of life
Tumblr media
Avizandum: today is a special day. Today is a day of life.
Why would he say that? He could've avoided all those sentences and just said he'll forgive them 'cause he wasn't in the mood to kill.
But he emphasizes it's a day of life. What if Zym's egg was due to hatch on that day? The weather seemed stormy enough.
If Harrow and Viren had arrived at least a day after, I'm sure the story would've changed because maybe by then Zym would have been already born
And what if they even arrived a week later? Would The Dragon Guard still be there? I don't think so.
Tumblr media
Lain tells Rayla they will return when the egg is hatched. They wouldn't need to stay longer.
If Harrow and Viren had been a day later, maybe Zym could've been born. If they'd been a week after or so, maybe Rayla's parents would have been with her

Something I think people typically forget about this scene:
Tumblr media
Rayla: Say the word and I'll go back into that tower with you.
Is what happens immediately after. Rayla gives Callum an opportunity to go back into the castle and save his stepdad...
...and he chooses to return the egg.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which is actually an incredible, character-defining moment for him. So many fans keep insisting that Callum prioritizes his personal loyalty over everything else yet in this moment right here he prioritizes the Right Thing over his own stepfather.
And he does this knowing that, in all liklihood, his stepdad won't make it:
"Callum, do you think Dad will be okay?" Ezran asked as they turned back to look at the tower one last time. Callum didn't want to lie to Ezran, but didn't want to distress him even further. After a long pause, he said, "Our dad has the finest guards in the kingdom defending him." "Yea, that's true," Ezran said, sounding relieved. "Yea, of course things will be okay." Rayla gave Callum a look. Certainly, the finest guards were defending King Harrow. But both of them knew that might not make a bit of difference.
Book 1: Moon (Novelization)
Returning Zym - even before he got to know him - is more important to him than anything else.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To Callum, it seems, doing the right thing is more important to him than personal bonds, not the other way around.

hii can u write a cuddle session with yuuta?
Tumblr media
Summary: Just a lazy day cuddling and watching The Dragon Prince.
Paring: Yuta x gn!Reader
Word Count: 874
A/N: Thank you for requesting this. I love cuddles with Yuta, he’s just so sweet. I couldn’t help but use the dragon prince as the show they watch while cuddling because it’s one of my favorites right now and if you’ve watched you should understand my comparisons, if you haven’t watched it I highly recommend, it has such diversity and has the same feel as Avatar the Last Airbender, plus there are a bunch of easter eggs for atla because one of the creators was also a writer and producer on Avatar. Anyway, enjoy this lovely piece and let me know what you think. MINORS AND AGELESS BLOGS DO NOT INTERACT
Dating Yuta has been a dream come true. He is the sweetest guy I have ever met and it feels like he understands me better than anyone. It’s almost like he can sense when I’m having a bad day because today he suggested that we skip hanging out with our friends to just stay in and watch one of my favorite shows. So, that's exactly what we are doing right now, we’er cuddled up on my bed with a bowl of skittles on my lap watching The Dragon Prince on netflix.
I just really enjoy laying with him and commenting on the little jokes each character makes or judging Viren for being a horrible father. We also like to try and figure out which character reminds us of each other and our friends, that’s the current debate we are having.
“There is no way Toge is Claudia, if anything he’s Zym. Because one, he can’t talk, and two he likes to cause trouble. I don’t think any of our friends are evil enough to be Claudia.” I said completely flabbergasted that he would insinuate that our best friend would be able to do such horrid things to people and animals.
He laughed and said “I wasn’t saying that because I think he’s evil or something, I was saying it because in the first few seasons Claudia is a complete dork, yeah she sucks for doing dark magic but she does dumb stuff as well. Anyway, now that we have Inumaki picked, who would Maki be? I personally think Rayla is an exact copy of her; they would both roll their eyes and slap someone for being an idiot.”
I chuckled at his defense, “I completely agree. Maki is also too stubborn to ask for help when she really needs it. Panda is Ezran, I will not accept any argument, he understands Toge and encourages his dumb behaviors.” I started with no room for argument.  “Also you are Soren, don't try to fight it, that's my final decision and I'm sticking to it.”
“W-what how am I Soren?” My boyfriend looked at me obviously confused by my statement. “I’m not disagreeing, I’m just curious why you think that.”
“Well for one you both use swords to fight. But most importantly, you are both extremely kind in spite of the fact you have both been through a lot. Soren spent years being gaslite by his father into doing horrible things, and when he tried to make his sister see it she also tried to gaslight him. Once he finally realized his family was doing horrible things he made the hard choice to leave them and change for the better. Now I’m not saying you have the same past but I know you struggled and suffered for a while. Having Rika lash out everytime something even came close to threatening you and not understanding it had to have been difficult, but instead of giving up, you decided to keep fighting and try and make it so no one else has to go through what you did.” I pointed out the major similarities between the two swordsmen. “Also I think you are both adorable.”
He just watched amazed by my reasoning, thinking I was just gonna say it was because they both use swords and are dorks, but no it was like I had thought about this alot. “I-i- Wow, you’ve thought about that a lot haven’t you?” he asked with a light blush.
I smiled up at him. “ Yeah I have, you have been through a lot and I'm proud of you for it. Now the most important question, what character am I?” I asked, trying to see his brain work.
“Oh definitely Bait.” He said confidently as I looked at him in shock.
“Excuse me, I just gave a college dissertation level speech on why I think you are a handsome swordsman, and all I get is a toad.” I said sitting up and turning to fully face him.
“Well yeah you are both adorable when you’re grumpy, both love shiny things, and you have a massive sweet tooth.” He said, defending his choice, reaching to try and pull back to lay with him. I begrudgingly layed back down resting my head on his chest, I felt his arm wrap around my shoulders as he placed a kiss to the top of my head. “Now shush, one of your favorite moments is coming up.”
I just nodded and snuggled closer to his side as I turned to watch as general Amya accidentally ruined her own engagement. I always find it funny, like yeah I get wanting to propose in a flashy way but seriously. Amya is a high ranked general who doesn't seem like someone who enjoys random surprises, what else would you expect to happen ambushing her with what look like flaming whips. I chuckled at the scene before closing my eyes, just enjoying the time I get to spend cuddling Yuta. I whispered a quiet “I Love you” as I drifted off to sleep.
Right as I let sleep take over, I heard Yuta respond with his “I love you too” before we both feel asleep to the sounds of dragons, elves, and magic.

They said that, sometimes, we make sacrifices so that the ones we love don’t have to. It’s part of protecting them—part of protecting you. Taking on hard choices and going to dark places is an act of love. It’s a gift. So, please let me give you this gift, Callum. Stay safe, and stay in the light. / We emerged into darkness and quickly got to work. This place held both the promise of our salvation and the threat of our destruction.

honestly I'm looking forward to the moment when Runaan sees Zym for the first time, especially considering how much he melted at the sight of his egg. the precious thing his best friends dedicated their lives to defending, and the thing he almost sacrificed himself to avenge. he's gonna be full of feels and I can't wait.

heyo! so i stumbled on this theory of yours 2 days ago and aaa i love it —
https://www.tumblr.com/beautifulterriblequeen/184887201620/mirror-checks-runaan-and-aaravos?source=share
but i’m so curious, could you explain?
what’s the reversing effect and reversed reflection? i’m a bit confused from this point, i looked a bit into one-way glass and im still confused yeah :P
somewhat unrelated but this theory is SO` much to me if it’s true bc i’ve been wanting to write aaravos povfor ages and it would basically solidify that 1. aaravos can see out of the mirror when the other side is still light as long as his side is dark (it wasn’t clear in canon if both sides had to be dark for him to see out) and 2. he can tell when he’s being watched and 3. i just find it interesting that he would have possibly been watching runaan in this case so yeah odsjfsdkafasldjfsldkf so yea i’d really like to learn more about what it means/is based on 🙏
Aww I love this old theory! The tldr is this: when someone's reflection in a surface is backward from how it should appear, there's magic involved.
We see this happen multiple times, but not everywhere that it probably should, so it could just be a repeated animation error. Still, it's been entertaining to think about, all these years.
Runaan's reflection should show his chest markings and broken horn on the other side of his body if this was just a normal mirror reflection, but instead it looks like we're looking directly at him, instead of at a mirror image. It could've been a single error with his reflection, but since I found more like this, it made me think the mirror might be up to something.
Tumblr media
Rayla's reflection in Ethari's sword is actually correct - but Ethari's is wrong. You can see his fringe right there in the frame, yet it's not reflected correctly, it's oddly on the far side of his face, which should not be possible unless magic is at work. Or, again, animation error.
I thought this might have to do with the fact that he ghosted her, and the Moon magic was affecting the reflection. But in the pond outside the tree house, both of their reflections are correct. So hmm.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here's Viren, before and after "activating" the magic mirror. If you watch his hair specifically, you can see his reflection goes one way, and then the other. This felt deliberate, and made me think there was something to the other scenes, and to the idea as a whole.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When the dragang looks into the mirror back in the Storm Spire in S4, everyone's reflections are correct, but we don't get a shot of them just as the mirror is turning on.
Tumblr media
In the end, it's inconclusive. It's very possible that, in earlier seasons, more reflection errors just happened and no one caught them, but as time went on more of those scenes were animated correctly. Time will tell, but honestly I've set this theory down as "it's really fun but I don't think it's canon."
As for your points, I would love for Aaravos to have the power to look out anytime he wanted to. His powers are diminished, but he's still incredibly gifted with magic. If he could see out at any time, that gives him so much information to work with! He would have seen any conversations that Avizandum and Zubeia had. He'd have seen Zym's egg. He'd have seen Viren pondering how to turn the thing on.
And just like you mentioned, he'd have seen Runaan getting coined. I've checked - the mirror was definitely pointing in such a way that an observer would have seen it happen.
Tumblr media
These are all situations that give Aaravos information, which is his bread and butter when he's trying to get what he wants - freedom. So I do hope he can do that.
One thing he can definitely do is your 2nd point, though! When the dragang and Zubeia turned the mirror on in the Storm Spire, Aaravos immediately knew even though his back was to the mirror, and he turned around to approach, seeking who had activated it.
The way that little spin immediately told on him for fooling Viren back in S2 though 😂 omg. All that business with adjusting cloaks and going in and out of doors and pretending to search the shelves for a book but just leaving instead, and the great dramatic reveal that Aaravos could also darken his room and see Viren, thereby catching up to the great and clever human mage and owing him everything for making contact... it was all for show!
Aaravos knew Viren was there from the very beginning, just like he knew Callum was there, and he led him a merry chase, getting him curious and intrigued and hungry for power before closing the trap and binding them together with the caterpillar spell that resulted in Sir Sparklepuff and a (hopefully) foolproof way to free him from his prison as long as the human played his role.
Oops!
The mirror is broken now, so we might not get any further lore or interactions with it, but it sure was a fun magical artifact. I'm never going to look at a reflective surface quite the same again.

How long did king REALLY stay in his egg
My theory :
Ig this is a question lots of fans have, and something fans theorize about which I didn’t really know until recently. I had a really fun conversation about this theory so I decided to write my entire theory!! At first I thought maybe the egg was dormant and only started developing later, BUTTTT if you consider the fact the king says he heard a great roar that came from his father and papa titan definitely died like millions of years ago- that probably isn’t the case. If you think about it a creature THAT BIG would take a MASSIVE amount of time to fully decay, and then it would also take a long time for the titans body to be able to grow trees and grass and other stuff on its bones, to become inhabited. Bonesborough also had to be built, which would take a-lot of time. We also have to take into consideration that all that happened before belos arrived onto the boiling isles and in present time he’s been there for hundreds, maybe even thousands of years.
Tumblr media
I think that it simply took a REALLY long time for the titan egg to develope/hatch. It’s not uncommon for really powerful or mythical creatures’ eggs to take a super long time to hatch, for example in the dragon prince zym’s egg had roughly a decade of incubation time (according to the fandom wiki) and took even longer after that egg to develop and hatch.
Tumblr media
Since papa titan and the rest of the titans were killed off millions of years ago, and king claims to have heard his dads voice he had to have been already a little bit developed inside the egg. (Or maybe the roar was both papa titan’s death and kings creation) It probably took a millennia or so for him to fully develop and hatch, and we have no idea how long he was in the tower after having hatched. We also don’t know what kings canon age is, although many people believe he is implied to be 8-9 years old. The fact that titans grow to be such a large size could also contribute the why king took so long to hatch
So in conclusion, it just took a really long time for king to hatch, thank you for coming to my Ted talk
