Background: Once upon a time, Cassandra wanted a kid but her on again off again boyfriend, Andrew, wasn't available to have kids so they used Varian (this is when he was around (30) as a donor and Hannah was the result. For the first few months of her life, she was passed between her four parents (Cassandra and Andrew: Hugo and Varian) until Gothel murdered her bio parents. She was found by Captain Hook who along with his wife, Zarina, adopted her. Thus how she became Hannah Hook. She eventually went on to become a pirate captain after winning her ship in a poker game at 6. She is every bit her parents' child. All of them. In one. Even though she doesn't know it.

Summary; How Hannah Hook won her ship. From Blackbeard. In a poker game. When she was 6. Barely a year after she got her hearing aid and glasses. A story Peter Pan has been dying to hear. Featuring Barnaby, an oc of my friend @saveme-storybrooke-potc .

Trigger warning; a bit of threatening behavior, Homicidal thoughts, death threats, swearing and very brief and probably incorrect description of a poker game.

15 year old, Hannah Artemis Hook groaned into her hands in annoyance-- blood boiling with frustration. Feeling like she was gonna scream as her older/(younger?) brother flew in circles around her, like he had been for the past hour.

"Please please please. I wanna hear the story. Tell me the story. Please please--"

He'd been like this for days, nagging her whenever she had even the smallest bit of free time to tell him a story. But not just any story. The story. The story of how she won her ship in a poker game when she was 6.

Hannah hadn't had a moment's peace in nearly a week and was silently contemplating the pros and cons of shooting Harry for causing of all this. He had been the one to mention it to Pan, after all. If any one was responsible for the misery he was causing her and deserved to be punished, it was him right?

"Pleasepleaseplease pleeeaaasssssssssseeeee. I wanna hear the story. Tell me the story. Please please--"

Hannah's grip on her book tightened. Her knuckles turning white as she tried in vain to focus on the words on the page. Like she had been doing ever since her brother had popped up in her room.

"Come on. You gotta tell me. How can you not tell me such an awesome story? Can you, please--"

Hannah slammed the book shut, cutting Peter off and causing him to stop in midair. "OKAY, OKAY FINE. I'LL TELL YOU! BUT. If I do, you have to shut up, sit down, sit still, and let me read after. Deal?"

Peter immediately lit up and flew down to the floor, taking a seat. "Deal! Now tell it!"

Hannah ran her hands down her face, taking a deep breath. Shoulders shaking. "Okay, so it all started 9 years ago--"

Captain Hannah Artemis Hook hadn't really existed to the rest of the isle until she was 6 years old.

Well, she had existed but not by name and not by face. She had been known as the Phantom of the lost and the Pirate Phantom who was only ever seen on the rooftops at night. The Phantom with glowing hair and glowing eyes that didn't even try to quieten their steps and laughter.

And, though no one really connected the two legends, the rumored 4th kid of Captain Hook, who no one was really sure existed but swore they had seen toddling after the Hooks and hiding in their jackets for years.

And for the first 6 years of her life, that had been all she was. A legend. A myth. A Spooky story parents told their kids to trick them into being evil. Because she never left her house except at night or with one of her family members. Leading to only the pirates and her parents' friends knowing that Hannah really existed.

And well... what happened on the wharf stayed on the wharf...

All of that changed a year after Hannah finally got her seeing eye goggles and hearing aid, when she was 6.

A year after she had finally been able to see what tricks the pirates played at their poker games and how to really play it.

A year after she had silently taught herself how to do each and every trick.

A year after she had silently taught herself how to sneakily undermine said tricks without anyone noticing.

"Daddy, can I play with you next round?" Hannah had asked her father innocently while he played poker with the other legendary pirates of the isle.

Davy Jones, Jack Sparrow, Captain Flynn, Long John Sliver, Red Jessica, Sharky, Bones, Beatrice Le Beak, Beardini, Captain Chen, Captain Colossus, Captain Fisher, Captain Claw, Captain Buzzard Bones, Captain Bluebeard, Captain Quixote, Captain Gizmo, ShiverJack, Captain Frost, Captain Wraith, Captain Treasure Tooth, and Blackbeard just to name a few.

Her father just shrugged, glancing back at her before giving in. "Sure, I don't see why not". He had brought her and her friends, Skia and Luke-- who were fast asleep on the floor near a bored looking Harriet and Anthony-- here with nothing to do after all. He might as well show them the ropes of the game so he could tell Zarina that they at least learned something while they were here.

"Teaching 'em while they're young now, are ya Jamie?" Red Jessica, Hook's childhood friend and crush, commented teasingly.

"Might as well. Wee one is probably bored out of her mind by now" He defended without any heat. And no one really protested the decision.

They all had kids of their own, after all, blood or not who they had taught the game to. And most of them were already fond of Hannah from all the time she spent around them, so they didn't see any harm in it either.

Even if a couple of them were grumbling about a kid joining in on the fun. Mainly Blackbeard.

And when the round was over, James swapped out with Hannah, and stood behind her shoulder to watch her play. Occasionally whispering in her ear on what to do, which Hannah chose to ignore in favor of continuing on with her on strategy.

Which was shown to be a good idea when she won that round and the next. Frustrated that he had already lost all of the money he had on him to an ill child younger than his own son, Blackbeard sat up and said "If she can beat me in a solo round, then she can have my ship. If I beat her, she'll give me all of her winnings."

That little bet caught everyone's attention, drawing a few gasps out of the crowd. Hannah just grinned at him, showing off her chipped tooth as she stood on the barrel she was sitting on and held out her hand before her father could stop her. "I accept your bet, Blackbeard."

And then theyy shook on it.

The game was on.

The six year old proceeded to destroy Blackbeard throughout the game.

Bluffing her way through it, maintaining her indestructible poker face the entire time. Ignoring the tips her father gave her and thwarting her opponent's every attempt at cheating. A smug look in her eye the entire time.

Eventually, time ran out and it was time for the showdown.

Blackbeard showed his hand;

His cards read 2.3.4.5. 6.

Then the littlest Hook showed hers;

Her cards read 6. 7. 8. 9. 10.

Blackbeard's jaw dropped, his eyes widening in disbelief as shocked cheers broke out. All the while Hannah just sat on her barrel, smiling innocently at him. Knowing that she had won the game and his ship fair and square.

"YOU CHEATING LITTLE BI-" Blackbeard lunged at her "I'LL KILL YOU!"

"And that's how I won my ship. There. Are you happy now?" She asked exhausted. "Can I go back to my book?"
