BLEACH: The Thousand Year Blood War Ep 10 Reactions and Thoughts
Overall reactions:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whelp, I don't know about you, but I was an emotional wreck after watching this one. I was so in awe of after watching Kenpachi and Unohana's fight that I forgot Renji and Ichigo were even a thing in this episode. While there isn't too much tot talk about in this one compared to last week's episode, I still just wanted to rant and rave about how much I loved the highlights and talk a little about Unohana's death.
Highlights:
Kenpachi vs Unohana continues and concludes: I cried, I almost screamed, I fell out of my chair again, and I even choked. WHAT A FIGHT! This is right up there with Yamamoto vs Yhwach for sure! There was stunning moment after stunning moment, JUST LOOK AT SOME OF THESE:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The last one in particular just screams 'HYPE!' I love this change from the manga. Even without context, each moment as a gif or as a clip is incredible to watch. You could freeze on most of these frames, take a screenshot, and chances are it'd make an epic screensaver or background. But the part that takes the cake for me is Unohana's bankai reveal. The moment she said 'Bankai', I choked. The seiyuu absolutely killed it, giving Unohana just right amount of menace as she speaks throughout the reveal. And to finally learn what it does, it's the cherry on the cake for me! I was hoping we would get more filler for the first time Unohana and Kenpachi met, but it was still a great moment, and seeing Kenny emerge from the massive mountain of bodies definitely got em hyped. And even though I knew it was coming, I still gasped and started to tear up when Unohana got impaled and Kenpachi threw his sword away. Just, look at this moment and try to tell me you don't feel anything:
Tumblr media
Kenpachi's voice actor also did an amazing job throughout this moment, conveying the regret and grief he feels for killing the one person who brought him the greatest fight of his life. And then hearing Kenny's zanpakuto...AAAAAAH! In fact, this adaption was s effective it made me temporarily forget why I wasn't really a fan of why Unohana got killed off. Even when I go back and reread this fight, as much as I love it and looked forward to seeing it animated when the anime was announced, I still hate that Unohana had to die. Yes I know, if we had two kenpachi-level captains the war would probably be over within hours. Yes, I know removing Unohana, a master healer, raises the stakes for the other Shinigami because now who's going to bring them back from near death? Yes, Kenpachi needed some development to become OP as heck for end and finally get that bankai everyone wanted to see, but did it really need to happen by killing Unohana? I think I feel this way because Unohana is one of my favourite characters, and her character got more layers added to her during this fight, only for it to come to an end just as quickly as these layers were revealed. That's just a personal gripe of mine and has nothing to do with animation staff, who not only knocked this adaption out of the park, they blew it out of the water and into the stratosphere.
Renji and Ichigo - aka the dorkiness continues: more silliness with Renji and Ichigo, this time with Oetsu, who makes them do this famous pose:
Tumblr media
I only wish we got to see the whole post rather than a pan down, but this still got a laugh out of me. Actually, considering how serious most of this episode was, the silliness was welcomed to offset some of the sadness. That being said, when Ichigo failed to find his zanpakuto and was sent back to the World of the Living, I couldn't help but feel a little hyped for what's come to.
So if I understand right, next week we're getting two episode back to back? Well, regardless, I am VERY excited for the next episode/s. We're getting Everything but the Rain arc, and we all know what that means!! :D

When everyone woke up that morning, you were all greeted by Coach Foster standing in the middle of the living room, hands on his hips with the team’s bus driver standing beside him. Wearing the standard black jackals' themed t-shirt and jacket.
“Today you’re going on a trip, go pack your bags” those were the only things Coach Foster said, straight to the point and no more opening speeches to begin it with.
Those words barely registered into everyone’s mind but the moment that their brain did manage to process it. They all dash back into their respective room, grab their suitcases, and stuff their essentials. Everyone was excited, a trip? Like just a normal getaway and not some sort of out of the city training? Hell yes!
They have been dying to have one, because of their new and improvised training regimens. It was rigorous, brutal, but overall worth it because results show it all.
Quickly, they ran downstairs, backpacks on their back, suitcases on their hand. Whilst they try to put on their shirt or shorts all the while sprinting towards the bus. Again, too excited about the trip.
“Where are we going?” Takato asks as you stood beside him, waiting for the driver to load the luggage into the bus’s compartment. Coach Foster remained silent and instead gave you both a smile in reply, patting both of your backs then pushing you towards the vehicle’s entrance.
Watching from the bus’s glass window as he waves you all goodbye, you and Takato shared a look. Not having any prior knowledge of your trip was a bit concerning on your parts as managers. However, Coach Foster would not arrange a trip that could potentially harm his players, so you hope that he will send a message when you arrive.
You hope.
«──────────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ────────────»
“Where are we?” they look from left to right, as they try to decipher which part of Japan they were dropped off to. Apparently, sleeping during the entire ride was a bad idea, because now, they were standing beside a dirt road.
In front of them were rows and rows of pine trees stretching as far as their eyes could see. Behind them, was a hill with a big wooden building seated on top and a footpath decorated with stone lamps on each side leading towards it.
“Please tell me that’s where we’re staying” all heads turn to Takato who also has no idea. It was clear to everyone that Coach Foster did not discuss this trip to any of the members, not to the managers nor to the captain himself. Because Shugo’s standing behind the group while scratching his head with an obvious question mark floating above it.
“Let’s go up there and find out” grabbing their bags, they walk up the stoned footpath, and towards the big wooden building. The hill thankfully was not very steep, they had packed quite a lot of clothing that carrying it uphill might become a problem.
“Wow”
The big wooden building turned out to be a guesthouse, a traditional guesthouse to be exact. It was big and very spacious; from the front porch, alone they could figure out that it was not just a house, but a mansion. From its lavish and intricate designs to the furniture and other decorations placed outside was an obvious sign.
“This is so cool!” Hinata exclaimed, taking a seat on a wooden swing bench, Bokuto joining him.
“There might be a caretaker we can talk to” Inunaki examined one of the potted plants displayed on the wooden deck. The leaves all green and healthy, its soil still wet, meaning someone was just here a while ago.
“Look at that beautiful home!” all heads turn to see the Adlers’ team reaching the peak of the hill, their bags in hand as they walk towards the open area in front of the house.
After noticing that they were not the only ones there, they pause in their tracks as they stared at each other. Their reactions a mix of surprise, confusion, and delight.
“Let me guess, Coach Suzaku surprise you when you woke up” Shugo watch as the rest of the Adlers members drops their bags on the wooden floor. Fukuro nodded his head, sitting down as he pulled his jacket closer to his body.
“Coach Foster too?”
“Yeah”
“I don’t get this” you look up at Takato as he stared at his phone, dialing Coach Foster’s number while his other hand scratch his head. “Are we supposed to share this trip with Schweiden?”
“I’m not sure” Takato answered, before he held up a finger, bringing his phone on his ear. Walking away from the group as he talks to the person on the other line.
You just stood there, wringing your fingers together as you watch them interact with each other. They may be rivals on the court, dead set on beating each other on volleyball, but once they are outside they actually get along quite well. Although, there is still an air of competitiveness floating around, what more could you expect from a bunch of pro athletes?
“Listen up everyone” Takato called out, pocketing his phone as he went back to gather with the group. “I just called Coach Foster and he said that this was prepared by both him and Coach Suzaku. He didn’t say anything else, other than we’ll be staying here for a week, to enjoy this trip, and to keep the damage to a minimum”
In the last part, the eyes of the older ones immediately turned to look at the troublesome younger players. If there was one thing they could all agree, it’s that their younger members were by far the most chaotic people they’ve met. After knowing each other since their high school years, they all have become so comfortable enough to show their true colors.
“Did he say who owns this mansion?” Tatsuto voiced out the question that was on everyone’s mind the moment they saw it. Surely, the house must have belonged to a close friend of their coach, or maybe another generous sponsor. It didn’t matter much, they just want to know the name of the owner.
Takato shook his head. “He didn’t say anything, but I’m assuming it’s a mutual friend of theirs”
They accepted that explanation and didn’t question any further, who were they to complain? Everything’s free, and their coach themselves said to enjoy, so they were going to enjoy their one-week break from their training.
They went inside the house, each one of them letting out a sound of amazement at the interior. The living room was the most spacious part of the house, in the middle was a sofa with two love seats of both sides and a coffee table in the middle.
In front of the sofa were a fireplace and a flat-screen TV installed on top of it. On both sides of the fireplace were two hallways leading to the deeper parts of the huge house, and on both sides of the living room were two sliding doors leading to the garden.
“There are nine bedrooms in total so we have to sleep by pair. (Y/n) gets to have a room of her own of course”
From behind Sakusa’s mask, Takato could see the way his lips just bend downward. Clearly not happy having to share a room with anyone, not totally convince that they are free of germs.
“There’s also a hot spring at the back area…” Takato trailed off as he stared at the text Coach Foster sent him.
“A hot spring?!” Bokuto and Hoshiumi jump from their seat in excitement, wide eyes staring expectantly at Takato for confirmation.
“Yes that’s what it says here”
“Whoever owns this place must be crazy rich” Inunaki mumbled as Adriah nodded beside him, agreeing to the libero’s words. Of course, they must be rich, only those with money can afford to build their own home a personal hot spring after all.
“Let’s just go to our own rooms and we’ll discuss the rest once we’ve settled”
They nodded their head, grabbing their bag and making their way towards the area where the bedrooms were located along with their preferred roommate. Each one choosing which room they like best, you walk past Hinata and Kageyama who were fighting with Atsumu and Hoshiumi for the bedroom with direct access to the gardens.
You just shook your head at their squabbling, adjusting your backpack on your shoulder. Finally choosing your room, you opened the door just a little bit to see if it’s occupied. It wasn’t, opening the door a little wider you gave a wave and a smile to Fukuro and Toshiro who walk past before you continue to drag your suitcase inside.
The room didn’t have much furniture in it aside from the wooden cabinet on the side, and a wooden table on the other. With another door for the bathroom. You pushed your suitcase towards the cabinet and opened it; the futon, blanket, and pillows you are going to use later were inside. Neatly arranged in a pile.
You quickly unpack your bag, placing your clothes inside the cabinet, and just as you’re stacking the last piece of shirt inside. You heard Bokuto’s laughter in the room beside yours, meaning he and Takato were in the room next door.
Once you were finished, you stood up and walk out of the room towards the kitchen to check if there were any groceries. Takato was already there going through the fridge, while Shugo and Fukuro were checking the cupboards.
“The good thing is we have groceries” Takato closed the fridge, looking over to Shugo and Fukuro who are still going through the rest of the cupboards. “They’ve just been brought in this morning by the caretaker, but I doubt it’ll last us a week”
“There are canned goods over here” Fukuro patted the four cupboards, he was just checking earlier.
“I saw like 3 packs of pasta here along with some spices” Shugo gestures to the remaining cabinets.
“We could buy some from the farmers here” you shrug your shoulders, leaning on the table.
Takato nodded his head. “We will look for anyone selling tomorrow, for now, let’s rest”
All three of you nodded your head at his words and left the kitchen. Walking back to your rooms to get that much-needed sleep, and shoo away the fatigue from that long travel.
«──────────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ────────────»
“Ah~ I could get used to this” Adriah closed his eyes in content, resting his arms on the edge of the pool. The warm water rippling around his body as it calms him and his tense muscles, the effects of the training from a few days ago still evident on his body.
“I could stay here all night” Toshiro rolled his shoulders, cracking his neck. Those familiar sounds of joints popping reaching his ears.
The hot springs were most definitely one of the best spots in the house, and everyone could agree to it. Just sitting on the pool’s rock floors, with warm water to soothe their bodies and the peacefulness of it all were just purely therapeutic.
“I might just build myself my own private hot spring if I get to feel this relax every day” Shugo states, as he runs a hand through his wet hair.
“Invite me sometimes when you do” Nicollas replied from beside him, eyes scanning the space they were currently in until they landed on Sakusa situated on the farthest side of the pool. With Ushijima accompanying him. “Kiyoomi, are you alright over there?”
Sakusa just nods his head in response before resuming his conversation with Ushijima, Nicollas was worried that he had made the Sakusa uncomfortable by persuading him to join everyone at the hot springs. When Takato had suggested that they would enjoy the hot spring together, Sakusa was the only one to deny and instead prefers he use their bedroom’s bath instead.
However, Nicollas wanted to spend time with all of them, this was a once in a lifetime opportunity after all. Their team may be rivals in sport but there’s nothing stopping him from making friends outside of it.
“Seeing you with your hair down is so weird, Kotaro” Tatsuto observes the multi-colored locks. “You look like a completely different person”
Bokuto laughs, his voice echoing throughout the huge bath. “I do?”
Takato chuckled, before adding. “The first time I saw you, I thought I was looking at a stranger”
“Gahahaha Kageyama you should’ve seen your face!” All three men hear Hinata’s loud laugh. Turning their heads, they saw him pointing at the setter after splashing his face with some water. His hair, sticking to his forehead. Kageyama glared at his former teammate, before placing his hand on top of Hinata’s head and pushing him down.
“Take that you idiot” Kageyama smirk watching as bubbles float around the area where Hinata was earlier. Removing his hand, Hinata shot up, splashing him again, pouting.
“Bakeyama! I could’ve died”
“Careful” Takato reminded as Hoshiumi push them both down into the water, cackling as he and Atsumu share a high five.
Takato let out a sigh before he remembers that their other manager was alone on the other side of the wooden divider. Moving a little closer to the wall, he gave it a few taps before he called out.
«──────────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ────────────»
“(Y/n)? are you okay over there?”
“I’m fine, Takato-san!” you replied before a shriek from the other side was heard, followed by Hinata and Hoshiumi’s laughter.
‘I wonder what they’re up to now?’
You thought as you try to listen to the commotion happening from the other side.
“Shoyo-kun, Korai-kun. Gimme back my towel!”
“Atsumu, you might wanna cover your junk”
A few rounds of laughter was heard, Atsumu screaming for Hinata and Hoshiumi to give back his towel before Takato spoke to you again. “You were so quiet; I thought something happened to you”
“I’m fine”
You rest your head on the edge of the pool, a warm towel over your eyes. Listening to the voices coming from the other side.
Flapping noises reach your ears, a hooting sound followed right after. You remove the towel, wanting to see what it is. There, at the top of the wooden wall was an owl, a barred owl to be exact. Looking down at you, its head cock sideward.
“Oh my” you slowly leaned forward, wanting to have a closer look at the creature. “Hello”
It let out another hoot as if responding to your greeting. You chuckled, this was the first time you have ever encounter an owl out in the wild, you have seen them in zoos or sanctuaries before, but in the wind? Today was a first.
“You look so beautiful” you continue to observe it a little more, it doesn’t seem to be bothered by your staring though. Whenever you would tilt your head to one side, it would mimic it. Whenever you spoke to it, it would give a hoot in response; you look like an idiot for talking to an animal.
You were thankful that it was just you over there. Although, you’re sure that the guys could hear you.
“Where are your friends?”
As if on cue, another one landed beside it, your eyes widened. Its familiar black and white feathers and the little horns at the top on its head reminding you of a certain someone.
“No way” you wanted to laugh aloud at the coincidence, a barred owl and a horned owl sitting side by side together. Watching you bathe, somehow this duo just reminds you of a certain duo as well, the ones you have spent your high school with.
“Why didn’t I bring my phone with me?” you muttered to yourself. You really wanted to take a picture of them and show it to Bokuto later, you were sure he was going to be ecstatic about it.
You watch as the horned owl moved closer, preening the barred owl’s feathers. You press your hands on your mouth to stop the loud squeal from leaving your lips. That was just so cute, are these two a couple? You were hoping they were.
“Best day ever” you sighed in content, watching as they jump around the wooden fence, flapping their wings occasionally. Not only did you wake to the news of going on a trip, but you also get to stay at a wonderful mansion as well, and you have two owls keep you company. If that’s not considered a great day, then I don’t know what is.
“Hm? Are you two leaving now?” their heads were turned towards the thick body of trees just outside of the wooden fence. Flapping their wings a few times, before they eventually flew away. Their bodies disappearing into the night.
“Bye, see you again” you wave, hearing one last hoot from them before it became quiet once again. Even the chatter from the other side had stopped.
Did they go back to their rooms already?
“(Y/n)? Have you gone loco?”
You giggled at Hinata’s question, his voice lace with genuine worry. You had not realized that they had stopped talking to one another and decided to listen to you instead.
“I’m alright Hinata”
«──────────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ────────────»
The next morning, you were awoken from your sleep by a series of knocks on your door. You turn around, pulling your blanket over your head, the knocking continued and it seemed like it would not stop.
You crawled over to the door and opened it. Atsumu’s grinning face greets you, you almost slammed it shut but a hand prevented you from doing that.
“Get up, we’re going on a run” Atsumu opened your door further, to reveal the rest of the monster generation waiting outside. You just stared at them, still half asleep, observing through sleepy eyes their attire. They are already changed into some track pants, shorts, shirts, jackets, and running shoes.
“Why?”
“For exercise (Y/n)!” Hoshiumi replied, a little too loud for your liking. You deadpan at them, a look on your face clearly saying. ‘Seriously?’
They seem to be determined though to get you to join them. Although it’s just Atsumu, Bokuto, Hinata, and Hoshiumi, the rest didn’t really care much. You let out a sigh.
“Alright, give me a few minutes”
“Great! See you out front!”
Then the door slammed shut, you rub your temples, staring at your futon longingly. You really wanted to get back to bed, but you were sure that if you do, they would probably come back and drag you out. You slip into a pair of track pants, sweater, and running shoes. Brushing your hair, you tied it into a ponytail, then spraying yourself some cologne before walking out into the front porch.
“I thought you went back to sleep” Takato laugh at the look on your face, waking up early was not exactly your forte. You would pretty much prefer to claim every second of sleep you could get. Now that the team was on break, he was sure you were hoping to sleep in. However, that does not seem to be the case today.
“Why am I doing this too?” you yawned, squinting your eyes a little. It was still a bit dark, the only source of light was from the lamps near the footpath and the light installed at the porch.
“Alright everyone stretches first!”
You copied their routine counting along with them. The warm-up exercises were slowly helping you dispel the sleepiness you were still feeling, your joints cracking with every bend of your limbs. When that was done, each one chose their jogging buddy before going down the footpath.
You joined along with Nicollas, Takato, and Oliver. Listening to them discuss family stuff.
“Is your wife going to be okay on her own, Takato?” Nicollas’ face twist in worry, having experienced the fear of having a pregnant wife alone at home. “She’s eight months along now, right?”
Takato nodded his head, as you fastened your pace a little. “She’s with her parents right now, so she’s fine. I also visit her during the weekends”
Nicollas hums before turning to Oliver. “You also visit your family as well right Oliver?”
“On the weekends I go home to them”
Nicollas let out a groan. “I envy you two; I haven’t seen my wife and son in six months. I miss them” he sniffled, as you stretch out your hand to pat his back in comfort. Going to another country for work has many cons, you get to leave your family behind, and not see or touch them for long periods of time.
You could imagine just how upset he must be, to not be able to see his family.
“How about you (Y/n)?” Oliver turns to you, as you look up at him. “I haven’t seen you visit your family before”
All three men turn to you as they waited for your reply, their pace steadily matching those who were in front. Just to make sure, the group stays together.
“My family migrated to (c/n) when I started college. So I can’t really visit them whenever”
“Oh (Y/n), you must really miss them huh?” Nicollas rest a hand on your head, sharing the same sentiment as you. Unable to be in close contact with their family.
“There are times where I just want my mom” you laugh, feeling embarrassed at the prospect of still relying on your mother even though you were already in your early twenties. “I just want to taste her cooking again”
All three men express their agreement at your words, also feeling the same. No matter how old they may be, there is still that longing of wanting to feel their mother’s love again.
“Now I’m also starting to miss my mom”
The four of you fell silent; now enjoying the scenery you are passing by, on your left and right were rows of rice field. The crops have grown quite well and ready for harvest, you may not have like it that you were woken up at 4 am but you were grateful in the least.
It was peaceful, the breath of fresh air, the spectacular view. You can’t experience something like this in the city.
“Hey look!” Bokuto held up his hand and pointed to the mountains, the sun slowly rising up from behind the two landmasses. Everyone stops in their tracks to admire the wonderful sight.
“Beautiful” Toshiro whispered, holding up his phone and snapping a few photos of the sun. Saving the picture for when he will upload it later on his socials.
The sun slowly moves out of its hiding spot, its rays gently covering the croplands with its warmth. Drying the morning dew that came from the previously cold night.
“I guess it’s time we go back” Shugo suggested and everyone started stretching their bodies once again. Preparing themselves for another long run.
“I’ll race you there Kageyama” Hinata jumps on his spot. The setter shot him a smirk, accepting his challenge as he cracks his neck.
“Woah, Woah. We’re jogging, not racing” Atsumu reminded them when he saw that they were serious. “No one’s racing anyone”
“Last one back to the house will have to eat a handful of jalapeños” Hoshiumi added, ignoring what Atsumu just said earlier.
“And where are you going to get these jalapeños?” Sakusa rolled his feet, both hands on his hips.
“I saw a bunch of them planted at the house’s backyard” Hoshiumi replied, preparing himself as he positioned his body.
“Alright, let’s do this!” They immediately dash away. Leaving Atsumu in the dust, coughing at the dirt that he accidentally inhaled.
“Tsum-Tsum! You better start running or else you’ll be eating those jalapeños later!” Atsumu curse under his breath before running after them, catching up in no time.
The rest of the members that were left behind just blink, watching as they quickly disappear from their line of sight. You let out a sigh, knowing well that you need to go after them to make sure those idiots don’t do anything stupid.
Even though Sakusa and Ushijima - the more responsible ones - are present. They also get swept away by challenges that they sometimes join in as well, and today was just an example.
“I’ll go after them” you run, mentally thanking your PE teacher for having you run laps around the track field almost every day. Because now, it had proven to be very useful.
“That girl’s a blessing, don’t you agree?” Tatsuto looks to them as they nodded their head. The black jackals’ members witnessing firsthand how (Y/n)’s inclusion in the team had helped them keep everyone under control.
They started making their way back home, going at their own pace. Passing by some of the residents who were now up and about their day. Some were on their way to check their crops, while others were on their way to go out into town.
Once they reach the house, they immediately went into the kitchen to see you already washing the rice. “Where are they?” Inunaki opens the fridge, taking a bottle of water and drinking it.
“Over there” you gestured to the open door leading towards the garden, they peek through the door just in time to see Hinata stuff his mouth with a handful of chili. The others watching him with interest as he chews the spicy plant.
“They were actually serious?” Adriah questioned in disbelief, watching as Kageyama did the same thing Hinata had done earlier. “I thought they were just joking”
“At this point, I’m not even surprised anymore”
They step aside as the two ran through the door and towards the fridge, frantically gulping down some cold water to help the pain from the spiciness.
“Sakusa, Ushijima. Why didn’t you two stop them?”
“We did try to stop them” Ushijima answered, watching as Hinata fans his mouth with his hand as he took in deep breaths. “But they refuse to listen”
“Something about their manly pride at risk if ever they don’t do it or whatever it was” Sakusa shrugs his shoulders before he and Ushijima went back to their shared room to change.
«──────────── « ⋅ʚ♡ ɞ⋅ » ────────────»
“Is it this one?” Kageyama gestures to the river in front of him, looking over his shoulder as the rest slowly emerges from the canopy of trees.
“Yes, this is the one” Takato place the bucket on the stone covered ground, wiping the sweat running down his face. While they were eating breakfast earlier, Coach Foster sent another text saying that there was a river a few kilometers away from the mansion. With many fishes swimming by and that they can go there and catch some fresh fish if they want to.
Since half of them have never gone fishing before, mainly the younger ones. They collectively agreed that after breakfast they would go to the river, catch some fish, and maybe enjoy a little bit of nature.
“The water is so clear” you crouch down near the riverbank, running your hand through the cold water. The river’s current is not very fast so it was safe to go down there and cool down if ever the heat becomes too much.
“Alright, boys! Let’s catch some fish” Nicollas seems to be overly enthusiastic about this, the man looks so happy to be fishing.
There were not enough fishing rod for everyone, so some had decided to forego them and chose to catch the fish by hand instead. The group split into two, those with the fishing rods stayed in the same area while the rest moved a bit farther away.
“The mosquitos here are so unforgiving, sheesh” Inunaki hand landed on a particularly big mosquito on his arm. The insect squash in between his palm and wrist, with its blood, splattered on his skin.
“I have some insect repellent here in my bag” you sat down on one of the rocks, rummaging through your bag and pulling out two spray bottles of insect repellent. Giving one to Inunaki who started spraying the area around him, before giving it to Sakusa who quickly sprayed his body. Just the thought of insects and other disease-carrying pests landing on him or even just biting him makes his skin crawl.
“Ah Wakatoshi, you got something!” Ushijima grips the rod tighter as he pulled it back. The end bending down at the weight of a possible fish caught at the end of the line. With a flick of his arms, the fish finally jump out of the water, wiggling its tail as it grips the bait in its mouth.
“Oh~” it was a catfish, a big one about the size of one forearm. Ushijima drops the fish in the bucket you gave him as he took another bait from the can and swings the fishing rod back to the water.
The rest stared at their respective floaters, calmly floating above the water, still no signs of it attracting the fishes. They could see the silhouette from their spot, but somehow it seems like the fishes are not satisfied with a bait they offered.
“I think they don’t like it” Adriah muttered as he watches the fish swam past his rod and into the other end of the river. Towards the area when the rest were channeling their inner bear skills.
“Should we go join them? They seem to have caught a lot already” Toshiro pointed to where the rest were concentrating on catching some fishes. They watch as Hinata crouches down tongue struck out in concentration, hands ready, before it strikes fast into the water. Effectively catching a fish.
“Heiwajima-san, you got something” you tap on the libero’s shoulder as he immediately focuses his attention on his fishing rod. He stood up, grab the handle, and started pulling, excited for what it caught.
“The hell?” it was a clump of algae, with sticks sticking out on the sides. The fish that he hopes to be at the end of that line was nowhere to be found.
“The fish outsmarted you” Nicollas pats Toshiro’s back in consolation, as he too is yet to catch his own.
Meanwhile on the other end of the river, just like their other teammates. Some were blessed some were not.
“I mean, catching them wouldn’t be hard right?” Fukuro eyed the fish swimming around his feet. Slowly, he leaned down, before striking his hands into the water to catch the fish, unfortunately though, it swam away.
Shugo snorted, leaning on the rock to balance himself. “This isn’t some sort of survival show; catching one wouldnt be that easy”
“Oh! Kotaro nice one!” they heard Tatsuto exclaimed, looking over to where they were. They saw Bokuto holding out a big fish with both hands, a wide grin on his face, proud of his catch.
“Good job! Korai, Shoyo!” Oliver’s voice followed, the two mentioned players holding their own fish, as they carefully wade through the water as you stood at the edge of the river. Holding out the bucket for them to drop the fish inside.
Fukuro shot Shugo a look. “You were saying?”
“Nevermind”
The two captains went back to whatever they were doing, determined to catch some fish.
“I think there’s a high chance we’ll catch some on the deeper parts Tobio-kun” Atsumu pointed to an area that was a bit darker than the rest of the river’s area. As he slowly walks over to it.
“Isn’t that a bit dangerous though Atsumu-san?” Kageyama followed behind the older man, as Atsumu waves his hand. Dismissing the younger player’s previous worry.
“Atsumu, Tobio be careful” Oliver called out from the side when he saw them going closer to the parts where there were a lot of rocks protruding.
“It’s fine, it’s fi- ack!” Atsumu stepped on a slippery rock, losing his footing as his body crash into the water. Disappearing into the dark pools.
“Atsumu-san?!” Kageyama stared wide-eyed to where Atsumu was just standing earlier. Atsumu had slipped on a much deeper area of the river, and he doesn’t really know what was down there.
Atsumu emerges, shaking his hair, running a hand on his face to wipe off the running water. “Great, now I’m wet”
He walks towards the shore, the water dripping off of his body and down on the ground.
“Told you to be careful” Inunaki handed him a towel, thankfully. You had prepared towels and extra clothes for everyone in case an accident like Atsumu’s would ever happen. Although the house isn’t too far away, it wouldn’t hurt to be prepared just in case.
“I feel like water went inside my ear” Atsumu mumbled, as you place the bag you brought with you in front of him. He crouches down, pulling out his spare shirt and shorts, before pulling his wet t-shirt over his head.
“Uh… Atsumu?” Toshiro stared at his back wide-eyed, waving your over then pointing at whatever he saw. A gasp leaving your lips.
“Yes? Heiwajima-san what is it?” Atsumu looks over his shoulder, by now Sakusa and Ushijima walk over. Staring at his back in a mix of disgust and fear.
“Miya, do you feel anything?” Atsumu’s eyebrows furrowed at Sakusa’s question.
“What?”
“Atsumu, touch your back” the setter followed Ushijima’s simple instruction; carefully he reaches behind his back, patting it before his hand landed over something slimy. His eyes widened, turning around and looking at them in shock.
“What the fuck was that?!”
His outburst caught the others' attention and went over to him.
“Atsumu-san, y-your back” Hinata stuttered in fear, watching as the animal clung on his teammates back. “There’s a leech on your back”
“Leeches actually” you corrected, shuddering.
“There’s more than one?!”
“Atsumu, hold still” Takato push him back down to sit on the ground, a Swiss knife on his hand.
“Get them off, get them off”
Nicollas and Toshiro went over to assist him. While those who were in the river earlier, immediately started checking their whole body in fear that they too had one.
“This might help” you pulled out a jar of salt from your bag and grab a handful of it before drizzling them on top of the leeches sucking on Atsumu’s back. Their screeches, reaching your ears as their hold on the skin loosened.
“Why do you have salt with you?” Toshiro asks, as you grab another handful and covered the one that Takato successfully removed, killing it.
“I actually don’t know” you laugh, covering the last one with salt, killing it. “I think I accidentally grabbed it earlier”
“Is it gone? Did you get them all?” Atsumu shakily lifts a hand, running it over his back. Letting out a sigh in relief.
“Anyone?” Takato looks to the others as they shook their head; thankfully, none of them was a victim.
“How did it feel Tsum-Tsum?” Bokuto crouches down beside him, as Atsumu shuddered, remembering how he could feel its tiny teeth sinking into his skin and sucking his blood.
“Horrible”
No one went back into the river after that and instead opted to switch using the fishing rod. They stayed there until the sun was high up, and the heat becomes too much for them, so they made their way back towards the house to prepare their food.
«──────────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ────────────»
“What are they doing?” Takato observes with curiosity the younger members of the team as they gather in the middle of the living room. With you standing in front and doing weird gestures.
“Charades, I think” from their spot on the deck, they watch with interest how you tried to act out the word you’ve gotten. They aren’t sure if this is a competition or not, the group wasn’t exactly split into teams.
You draw a ball on the air, and just as you were about to add another figure. They all collectively answered. “Volleyball!”
Shugo and Fukuro laugh at the exasperated look on your face.
“Do they have anything else on their head aside from volleyball?” Nicollas shook his head, chuckling. Taking a sip of his tea as he watches you act out the word again.
You draw another ball on the air, then drop it on the ground, and started doing a kicking motion with your foot.
“Soccer!” you shook your head. Bokuto crosses his arms, furrowing his eyebrows as he tries his hardest to guess what it is.
“It’s not soccer?” Ushijima asks as you shook your head at his question. Before doing the kicking motion with your feet again then gesturing to the whole living room area.
“What?”
You pointed to the view outside and made an x mark with your hands, then gestured to the whole living room and did an okay sign.
“So it’s soccer but indoors…?” Hinata trailed off, as you excitedly nodded your head and urge him to find the right word for it. “I don’t know”
“Futsal?” Sakusa added as you clap your hands at him, finally happy that you could move on to another word.
“What’s futsal?” both setters questioned as you took another piece of paper from the bowl you placed on the coffee table.
“It’s basically indoor soccer, but the rules are different. I’m not good with explanations but you can search it up once we go back” you pulled out the paper, and on it ‘little giant’ is written.
You stared at the paper for a few minutes. When you ask them earlier to write down random words on the pieces of paper you gave them, you didn’t expect their choices to be quite hard to act out.
You sighed then pointed at Hinata and Hoshiumi, and gestured to their whole body.
“Short?”
“Hey!” Hoshiumi kicks Atsumu on the leg as the setter glares at him in response.
You shook your head at the answer.
“Tiny?” you settled with that one then you pointed to Oliver. The tallest person within the group.
“Tall?”
“Big?”
“Bald?”
“Atsumu, I heard that!” Oliver’s voice boomed from the outer deck as Atsumu flinch. Not expecting him to hear it all.
“Giant?” you nodded your head at Hinata, before he immediately understood what the word was. “Tiny giant?... no little giant!”
“Yes”
You sat down on the floor, crossing your legs. “Let’s play another game, my hands and feet are tired”
“I think it’s best we all go to bed, that was enough brain exercise”
Everyone stood up, saying their good nights before going back to their own room.
«──────────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ────────────»
The next day you were once again woken up at an hour earlier than intended, not because someone was at your door. But because of that rooster crowing endlessly since 1 in the morning. You weren’t bothered by it a few hours ago, but now at this very moment, you want nothing more than wish for it to shut up. It’s so loud too, every time it crows a few more follows.
“These damn chickens” you sat upon your bed, grumbling. Your sleep ruined, listening to them flap their wings a few more times before letting out the signature cock-a-doodle-doo.
You got out of bed and went to the kitchen instead, a delicious cup of coffee now on your mind. You entered the said room and found Takato already sitting in the table reading a newspaper.
“Good morning” he greeted, that smile on his face had you wishing you were a morning person like him. You could do so much more when you’re up the moment the sun starts rising.
“Morning Takato-san” you took the kettle and filled it with water, before putting it on the stove and turning it on.
“Ah, Coach Foster sent me a text last night” he turned on his chair to look at you. “He said he had to cut our break short, the doctor wanted to do the medical check-up for this month a little early. So Coach we’ll be sending the bus to come get us tomorrow”
“Schweiden too?”
“Yes, Coach Suzaku doesn’t trust his team without anyone else to look after them”
You laugh, turning off the stove, and pouring hot water on the mug you prepared. “He doesn’t trust his players unsupervised?”
“No”
You started preparing your drink as Takato continues reading the newspaper, flipping through the pages every few minutes, whilst drinking his own cup of warm beverage. Sitting down, you stirred your coffee, your ears capturing the footsteps approaching the room you’re in.
“These mosquitos are killing me” Kageyama enters the kitchen, scratching his arm, his nails leaving traces of red marks as he rubs off the itch left by the insects. A thin layer of skin peeling off at how harsh he’s been rubbing, but he seemed unfazed by it though. All he wants was for the itch to disappear. “The rooster too, I can’t sleep with it so noisy”
“You too? I thought it was just me, the others don’t seem to mind though”
More bodies entered the kitchen. Yawning and rubbing the sleep from their eyes.
“I swear if I see that chicken I’m going to cook it” Hoshiumi grumbled, flopping down on the empty chair beside Takato. Resting his head on the table as he closes his eyes.
“Right? I can’t sleep with it cock-a-doodlin’ every few minutes”
Each one of them took an empty chair and sat down on it. Waiting for the water Kageyama was heating up so they could have their own cup of their preferred drink.
“I guess us leaving tomorrow is good news then”
Everyone perks up at that, now alert, properly awake, and their faces sporting questioning looks. “We are?”
Takato nods. “MSBY’s monthly check-up was rescheduled to an earlier date-“ he points to the Adler’s team members. “-and Coach Suzaku wants them home too. He said he doesn’t trust them alone”
As expected, the reactions were a mixture of disappointment and relief. Some still wanted to stay, while the others were already excited to go back home.
“Well, what are we going to do today?”
“Remember the old couple we met in one of our jogs?”
Everyone nods their head. “I saw them again yesterday, and they invited us to come to their farm to visit. It’s not too far from here”
“Sounds good”
With that, they prepared their breakfast settling on a light meal. Cleaned themselves up and walk to where the farm the located.
The farmland was wide, rows and rows of vegetables neatly planted side by side, fruit trees standing high and proud. Aside from that, they raise animals as well; pigs, chickens, fishes, and cows. All these crops and produce were either sold to whoever comes to visit their farm - or sent to the market.
“This is such a beautiful place Hisano-san, Jiro-san” Hisano –one of the owners- smiled, with her husband Jiro standing beside her.
“Thank you”
Everyone volunteered to help the couple around their farm, just so it would lessen the stress on their old body.
You stayed near the farmhouse, Hisano was about to collect the eggs from the chicken and she needed the extra hand. You, Bokuto, and Atsumu volunteered to go inside the coop to collect them all whilst Hisano stays outside to collect the baskets.
“Bokuto-san, careful. That hen doesn’t look too happy to see you” you warned, eyeing the hen that was already standing on her nest, feathers spread out in a threat, ready to defend her eggs if needed.
“It’ll be fine” Bokuto reassured you, slowly approaching the animal.
“(Y/n)’s right Bokkun, ya might wanna go to another one first” Atsumu moved to the deeper part of the coop. While you collect the eggs from the chicken that was just beside Bokuto’s.
Bokuto crouch down, the chicken following his movements. He stretches his hand to take the egg at the edge of the nest when the hen pecks his arm.
“Ow hey!”
“Told ya to go to another one” you heard Atsumu say from the back as you turn to Bokuto nursing the spot where the hen’s beak hit, the bruise glowing red.
You expected him to move to another one, but Bokuto being Bokuto, he can be very persistent at times. As expected, he stayed on his spot, having a staredown with the chicken.
“Okay here, listen” he started, eyes never leaving the animal. “I mean no harm I just want t- ow stop that!”
You sighed, shaking your head then standing up from your spot as you walk towards the door. Passing the basket towards Hisano, then grabbing another empty one. Bokuto still has not gathered at least one egg, and now he seems to be giving that chicken a lecture.
“Bokkun, you’ve gone nuts” Atsumu said as he walks past him, fortunately after 4 failed attempts. The chicken has had enough and just let him take the eggs. Bokuto happily collected them all, saying a little thank you, gave her a few pats on the head before giving the basket to Hisano waiting by the door.
You stood there dumbfounded, staring at the chicken that had a beef with Bokuto earlier. Now calm, and sleeping on her nests.
“What just happened?”
The three of you continued to collect the eggs, filling up basket after basket with the produce. Until only one hen was left, and she seems to be more aggressive than the one Bokuto dealt with earlier.
“Calm down I’m not gonna hurt ya”
You and Bokuto stood behind Atsumu, watching at the hen spread her feathers even wider. Angry eyes staring at his colored hair, Atsumu didn’t notice though, too focus on the eggs that were near his reach.
“What the – ow!” the chicken seems to dislike Atsumu’s hair and it now pecking it endlessly, the blond Miya shooing her away, but failed.
“Gah! (Y/n) you deal with this one!” Atsumu pushed you towards the hen as you instinctively held up your hands in defense. Afraid that it might start attacking you as well. You kneeled down, carefully you took the eggs, all the while making sure she doesn’t peck your eyes out.
“Thank you for the help” Hisano says as she accepts the last batch of eggs, arranging them in the tray. Then moving the trays inside the farmhouse so it could be pick up later.
You walk over to where Adriah and Sakusa were washing up the vegetables, a crate on their respective side of the sink filled with the freshly washed vegetables.
“Those cherry tomatoes look so yummy”
“Right? They’re tasty too” Adriah gave you one as you took a bite of it, popping one into his mouth as he chews on the fruit. Ushijima and Kageyama arrive with another batch of eggplants and cabbages. Placing the crates near the sink.
“Ushijima-san, Kageyama. Have you tried these?” You pointed to the tomatoes, Adriah pouring the last batches of tomatoes was washing.
Kageyama took a smaller one, chewing on it as he hums at the flavor. “It actually tastes nice”
“They are” Ushijima added.
“Don’t eat too much of those yet, they need to be sorted first. Some might have worms in them” Sakusa reminded as you both nodded your head. He took a few pieces of eggplants them putting them under the running water.
“(Y/n)!” Bokuto calls you, as you turn to where he and Atsumu were standing. Carrying a hook and some crates. “Hinata and the others needed help with the mangoes, can you come with us?”
You jog over to them and walk towards the area where the mangoes were planted.
“Those mangoes look really delicious” you stood beside Nicollas, looking up the tree while holding a crate. The mango fruits dangling by the branches were big, the tip was starting to ripen up, the perfect time to harvest them.
“They are aren’t they?” Nicollas watches as Hinata and Hoshiumi started climbing the tree. “Shoyo, Korai, careful.”
“Why are they climbin’? they could just use this instead” Atsumu tap the hook with a net strap on it. He and Bokuto standing in front of another mango tree just beside the one Hinata and Hoshiumi were climbing.
“I dunno ‘bout you ‘Tsum-Tsum, it looks kinda fun” Bokuto grabs onto a nearby branch and uses it to hoist himself up. Atsumu facepalmed, letting go of the hook and grabbing the crate instead.
Mango after mango was thrown at you as you try to catch them all, running left and right to make sure they wouldn't hit the ground. From the other tree, you could hear Bokuto shouting. "Nice receive!" to Atsumu when the setter would run to catch the mangoes he would accidentally throw a bit farther than intended.
"This isn't volleyball practice boys" Nicollas laughs before easily catching a mango Hinata dropped.
"Nice receive" you clap as the Brazilian man lets out another hearty laugh.
You look up to Hinata and Hoshiumi again, the two climbing to another branch, to get the rest of the fruit that was at the top.
“(Y/n), do you hear that?” Nicollas taps you on the shoulder as you look at him.
“Hear what?” you look around for anything he could mean, there wasn't anything out of the ordinary. There wasn't anyone else there either, just the 6 of you. The others were back near the farmhouse.
“It’s some sort of buzzing” He explained as you furrowed your eyebrows in confusion. A buzzing? You look around the rows of mango trees, carefully observing each branch. Before you finally saw what he meant.
“Uh…” you tug on Nicollas’ shirt, he turned to you pointing at the big beehive at the end of the branch Hinata and Hoshiumi were standing at.
“Oh dear” his eyes widened, slowly the both of you started stepping backwards.
“Hinata get that one” Hoshiumi pointed to the mango just above Hinata, the orange-haired male stretch his arms. But because of his lack of height, it prevented him from reaching it.
“Oi don’t jump, you’ll fall” Hoshiumi warned when he saw Hinata crouch down.
“Don’t worry Hoshiumi-san. I’ll be fine” Hinata readied himself before he jumps up, wrapping his hand around the fruit, plucking it from the branch.
“Shoyo, don’t do that” Nicollas warned, pausing in his tracks. However, you were not staying there any longer, not when that beehive is so close to falling.
You saw Ushijima enters the opening to the mango plantation, about to assist in carrying the crates back to the farmhouse. “Is something wrong (Y/n)?”
You silently pointed to the beehive that was ready to fall, taking hold of his arm and pulling him away and back to the house.
“Should we tell them?” he asks you again, but you shook your head. Nicollas could deal with it.
“Where are the others?” Oliver notices that it was just you and Ushijima who came back.
“We’ll hear from them later” Oliver tilted his head at your answer before a scream from the distance reached his ears. He turns around to see Atsumu, Bokuto, Nicollas, Hoshiumi, and Hinata emerge from the trees, a swarm of bees chasing after them.
“Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!”
“Korai-kun this is yer fault!” Atsumu screamed the white-haired male that was running beside him snaps his head to glare at the blond.
“Haaaah?! I wasn’t the only one up there you idiot!” Hoshiumi bites back. “Besides wasn’t it Hinata who thought that jumping on the branch was a bright idea?!”
“It was bright at first! I’m sorry!”
“Now, now. We must not point fingers” Nicollas tried to calm them down. “Although, this is Shoyo and Korai’s fault”
“Nicollas-san?!”
You all watch from the sideline as they round the pigpen. Hinata jumping over the fence, running across the inside of the pen before jumping out again.
“Should we help them?” Takato asks in worry, watching, as the bees were so close to reaching the five men.
“And risk getting stung? No way!” Inunaki vigorously shook his head and the others agreed with him.
“Miya-san jump in the fish pond!” you shouted, as they run towards the pond.
Atsumu’s head whips in your direction. “Are ya crazy?! There might be a leech in there!” he shouts, nearly tripping over a rock. “How come the bees aren’t chasing you?! Weren’t you with us earlier?!”
You shrug your shoulders in response. Not wanting to tell them how you know there was a beehive there in the first place.
“Jump in the fucking pond!” Tatsuto shouted.
“No!”
“Oi Miya, choose between the two, bees, or leeches?” Sakusa asks as he watches them run with mirth dancing in his eyes.
“Neither!”
“Just run, they’ll stop eventually!” Shugo offered, as they dash out of the farm and into the streets. Running away as far as they can.
«──────────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ────────────»
“Ah! Isso dói” Nicollas hissed as you apply a cold compress over the part where the bee had stung him. Offering him an Advil and a glass of water to help reduce the pain faster.
“Fucking bees” Hoshiumi grumbles as Hisano treats him, having the urge to scratch the itch it left. But restrains himself, or else it’ll become worse.
It took them at least 30 minutes before the bees finally stopped chasing after them, they did get stung and thankfully only once. It was like they had run a marathon, Atsumu’s legs were burning with how much he had to force himself to run faster. The heat wasn’t making it any easier for him either and the only thing he wants right now is to go home.
“When you get back home, go and visit a doctor just to make sure” Hisano gathers the materials used to treat them, and went back inside the house to put them away.
“Let’s go back” Atsumu says as he lays down on the wooden floor, brushing his hair away from his eyes.
“We will in a few minutes, I need to talk to Jiro-san and Hisano-san first” Takato stood up and went inside the house to talk to the couple, as they all waited outside enjoying the afternoon breeze.
They stayed there for a few minutes, feeling the cool air blowing past them as dark clouds start rolling in.
“Okay guys let’s go”
They stood up, dusting away the dirt that got into their pants. Waving goodbye to the couple, the group started their trek back to the guesthouse. So that they could finally get the rest, everyone had been wanting.
Just as they reach the foot of the hill where the house was situated, the rain unexpectedly dropped down. Drenching the dried out soil, and watering the wilting plants.
Later that evening as everyone was lounging around, having had finished packing their things. Fukuro approaches you, his hands behind his back.
“(Y/n)” he called out, you look up from the book you were reading to see him smiling at you. “I heard your birthday is in a month” he showed to you what he had been hiding behind his back. It was a white-colored gift bag with a little gold ribbon tied to the side. “Here you go, an advance gift from me”
He passed you the bag as you accepted the gift with gratitude, thanking the older man. The others now curious as to what it would be, placing it on your lap, you gently opened the bag. Hinata and Bokuto now glued to your side to see what is inside.
“No way” you gasp, as you pick up the signed album of your favorite band. The members’ signatures and their little messages catching your attention. “Hirugami-san thank you so much!”
He smiled at you ruffling your hair. “No problem kid” he went back to where he was seated moments ago. Leaving you to fangirl on your seat, Bokuto and Hinata joining you as they too were a fan of the band.
“I know what you’re planning” Shugo narrows his eyes at the Adlers captain, as Fukuto sat down on his spot among their little circle. “It’s not going to work”
Fukuro help up his hands in defense at Shugo’s accusations, feigning innocence. “Hey, I’m not planning anything”
“Just give it up; (Y/n) won’t leave us for Schweiden” Shugo shots Fukuro a smirk as the Adlers captain mirrored it with his own.
“We’ll see”
The rest could see the spark that flashed between their eyes, challenging each other to yet another unsolicited competition.
“Okay stop it you two, we have a game to play” Oliver calls them out as they snap out of it. Finally focusing back on the card game, they were playing a few minutes ago.
«──────────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ────────────»
The next morning, the bus of both teams had arrived early at around 8 am. They loaded their luggage into the vehicle, making sure nothing was left behind. All the bags and other souvenirs they had pick up from randomly walking around were stuffed inside and ready to be brought home.
“The next time we see each other again, it will be on court”
That was the last thing they said to one another before they piled into their respective bus. Situating in their chosen seat as the driver starts the engine, then driving back home.
"This was a fun trip" Shugo nestled himself in his chair, leaning on the window as he eyes the passing scenery. "Wouldn't mind going back here again"
"Yeah"
They stayed quiet after that, once again falling asleep through the whole ride.
"Wait guys, where's (Y/n)?" Inunaki's voice rang through the bus as their eyes snap open.
"What do you mean? She's over there" Bokuto pointed to where you were usually seated, but the spot was void of your presence. He stood up from his seat, looking around the empty seats but his eyes never found you.
"Was she still inside the house?" Hinata asks in worry. Takato's phone rings your name on the caller ID. He accepted the call and put you on speaker.
"(Y/n)!"
"I can't believe you guys left me behind!"
"We're sorry (Y/n), we thought you were inside the bus already. Where are you right now?" Takato says as Oliver tells the driver to turn around to get you.
"I'm in Schweiden's bus, I'm riding with them"
"Wait what?" Shugo stood up from his seat and motioned for Takato to give him the phone. "(Y/n), where are you?"
"I'm with Schweiden" Shugo heard shuffling from the other side as the phone was pass to another person.
"Shugo!" Fukuro's voice rang from the other side of the phone. "Thanks for the new manager!"
Shugo's eye twitches, as he listens to the man laugh. Cursing under his breath as the bus drives back. The driver going as fast as he can, all the while making sure to keep them from any accidents.
The next time you go on trips they really need to keep an eye on you, or else you will get snatched away.

Happy HK secret Santa  @emmmmiru !!! I hope you don’t hate this lmao, I’ve discovered I really need prompts when writing christmas fics so I combined like several and I think it sort of worked???  Also plz excuse my ER/hospital knowledge it’s very outdated because my reference hasn’t worked in an ER for like years so I did my best lol. So, without further ado plz have Doctor Toshiro/Nurse Karin and mistletoe, for some reason I really just like RAN with the mistletoe thing!!
Karin was twitchy. She’d been waiting in the Starbuck’s line for a solid fifteen minutes before her order was finally taken. Now here she was, stuck waiting another ten minutes for the actual drink to be made. There were four people in front of her too.
Today was her first day at her new hospital. She was finally escaping the shadow of her brilliant family at Karakura General Hospital, KGH. Both her father and brother were well known and highly sought-after doctors. Ichigo, a renown neurosurgeon and Ishhin, probably one of the best ER doctors around, training a number of great pupils in emergency medicine. Even her own twin sister was well known, Yuzu was one of few dietitians in Karakura and a good one at that.
Karin herself was a damn good nurse and she knew it, but she got rather fed up with being known exclusively as Kurosaki Junior. Yuzu didn’t seem to mind the nickname as much, but of course Karin wasn’t as nice as Yuzu.
So, here she was, a town away at a brand-new hospital starting her first shift on Christmas Eve, just her luck.
And now her need for Starbucks and caffeine was going to make her late.
“Venti gingerbread latte for Karin.” The barista finally called out and Karin practically sprinted to the counter.
Quickly grabbing a lid and pushing it onto the cup Karin briskly turned around ready to get to the hospital ASAP. Only to run smack dab into someone, immediately spilling her precious gingerbread latte all over this nice someone’s crisp white dress shirt.
“Oh my gosh I’m so sorry! Are you okay?” She asked before looking up at the very attractive man she had spilled her hot drink all over.
He was probably one of the most attractive men she had ever seen with white hair, piercing blue eyes and a very attractive face. An attractive face that was decidedly unimpressed with situation as his white shirt dripped latte. He brought a hand up to his face, pinched his nose and muttered, “It’s fine, don’t worry about it.”
“Wait, Toshiro?” Karin asked, his unimpressed scowl triggering a memory of that very same face but much younger lecturing her about proper hospital etiquette.
“Karin?”
“Yes! How are you? It’s been so long; dad really misses you.” It was really her who missed him, but he didn’t need to know that.
“I’m doing just fine Karin, but I think I’d be much better if we could have this discussion when I don’t have coffee all over me.”
“Ahh right! Let me get you a paper towel, I’ll be right back.”
And then she disappeared quickly, trying her best to calm her heart rate.
Toshiro Hitsugaya had been one of her father’s most promising medical interns and Isshin had loved him so much he became part of the family. Did a young nursing intern, happen to find him very attractive? Yes. Did that same intern also happen to develop a huge crush and sulk for weeks when he finally left to pursue his career at a different hospital? Also, yes. But she still had her dignity dammit!
The current twenty-five-year-old Karin was not the same as twenty-one-year-old lovesick Karin, she would not be caught pining over Toshiro Hitsugaya. She was better than that.
Grabbing a wad of napkins, Karin returned to Toshiro and resisted the urge to dab at his well-muscled chest with them. Instead, she handed them to him before seeing the time. “Toshiro, this was great, but I really have to go, I’m late to my first shift!”
Toshiro had no chance to respond before the dark-haired beauty was gone and he was left still sopping wet with latte. Classic Kurosaki.
Karin barely managed to make pre-shift, sliding into the nurse’s station just as the charge nurse started giving everyone the basic rundown of how the shift would work.
Karin knew the brief layout of the hospital and how it worked from her few training shifts, but she wasn’t sure she was entirely ready to be thrown into a Christmas Eve shift just yet. Unfortunately, another nurse had come down with a nasty flu and Karin was forced to cover for her. Since Karin had never worked a Christmas or Christmas Eve shift before she had absolutely no idea what to expect.
She really hoped Christmas Eve wouldn’t be as insane as it was on Gray’s Anatomy.
After pre-shift ended Karin approached the charge nurse to let her know of her newbie status. She was a kind older woman named Yuki and Karin knew immediately she’d like her.
“Oh, don’t worry too much dear. Christmas Eve usually isn’t that busy, this is probably a good first shift for you to learn how we work here. But just to be safe I’m going to assign you to beds 6-12, they’re usually not as hectic as the trauma room. The doctor on tonight is also one of our best. I’m sure you’ll have no problems but if you need anything don’t hesitate to ask him. He’s very thorough in his work so I’m sure he’d be more than happy to help you learn the layout here.”
As Yuki finished speaking Karin spotted a messy head of silvery-white hair walking towards them and she quickly realized exactly who her ER doctor would be tonight. Just her luck.
“And speaking of, there he is. Karin, this is Dr. Hitsugaya and he’ll be the doctor in charge of the emergency room tonight.”
She could have kicked herself; she really should have put the pieces together. What was the likelihood she’d run into Toshiro at the coffee shop next to the hospital before her night shift randomly? Very slim.
“Hello again Karin.” He said with a small smirk, and she couldn’t help but notice the new green dress shirt he was wearing underneath his white coat brought out those piercing eyes of his. He was really so unfair.
“Toshiro.”
His eyebrow twitched; an annoyed reaction Karin was thrilled to evoke.
“Karin how many times do I have to tell you it’s Dr. Hitsugaya.”
“Oh, you two have already met then?” Yuki interrupted innocently.
Yes, yes, they had. She had an embarrassing schoolgirl crush on him, thought their weird sexual tension might lead somewhere only for him to leave after his residency never to be seen again. She was only a little bitter. But it was FINE.
“Yes, we used to work together at another hospital.” He smoothly replied and Karin was thankful he didn’t bring up her family and exactly which hospital they’d worked at. She didn’t want to be known as Kurosaki Junior again and he seemed to understand.
“Well, I hope we have a good shift Toshiro.”
His eyebrow twitched again, and she couldn’t help but feel pride at how she could drive him so crazy in such a short amount of time.
As it turned out Karin did have a pretty good shift with only a few hiccups. Thankfully, nothing too insane happened and as Yuki promised beds 6 to 12 were pretty relaxed. The most notable patient was a man who had smashed his hand through a fish tank.
Karin was forced to carefully tweeze out the glass while one half of his family yelled at him across the bed about his recklessness. From what she could gather the two sides of the family were arguing about some family recipe and it had led to an all-out brawl.
She was a little chagrined when the other half of the family arrived twenty minutes later with his cousin who had third degree burns from cooking said family recipe.
Overall Christmas Eve wasn’t that bad. Karin had learned about the hospital staff more than anything. Mostly that they were a bit crazy. At first Karin hadn’t immediately noticed the mistletoe pretty much EVERYWHERE in the hospital but the more she paid attention the worse it got. Every doorway, archway, hallway, and windowsill were covered in the plant. There was even some hanging off the light fixtures. She privately thought it was a terrible fire hazard but whatever.
After hours of encountering, it at every corner of the hospital during her shift she caved and asked what it was about on her lunch break. Matsumoto, an impressive veteran ER nurse whose only goal in life seemed to be to drive Toshiro insane, was more than happy to let her in on the hospital gossip.
Only for Karin to find out it was all over some ridiculous wager. Apparently, there was a longstanding bet in the hospital about who could catch a certain white-haired doctor under the mistletoe first.
In four years running, not one had ever been able to kiss him. Doctors, nurses, and X-ray techs alike had all tried their hand but to no avail. Not a single soul had ever gotten near him.
Karin couldn’t help feeling a little pleased about this. So, what if she still harboured a little crush on the man and was smug no one had snagged him yet? Who could blame her, he was hot.
It was widely believed Toshiro was some sort of ninja in his spare time because he’d never been spotted near the mistletoe which was an impressive feat seeing as how it covered every possible surface.
“So why does everyone want to kiss him so bad? Other than the bet of course?”
“Karin have you seen that man, who wouldn’t want to kiss a face like that?”
“Fair point.” She was willing to admit he was indeed a very fine specimen.
“So, who are you betting on this year Matsumoto?”
“You.” And with that ominous answer, Matsumoto winked, grabbed her empty tray and left the cafeteria.
Karin could only gape at her back.
The rest of her shift was just as relaxed as the beginning and for that Karin was thankful. Her mind was now completely filled with Matsumoto’s last words. What was she supposed to do with that? Why would she have a chance of winning that bet with Toshiro. Did Matsumoto know something she didn’t? Sure, they’d shared some heated looks at her old hospital and yeah, people usually told them to get a room whenever they argued but that didn’t mean he was interested in her right? She definitely would have known if Toshiro Hitsugaya, star ER doctor had a crush on her. Or would she?
It was these thoughts that occupied her mind as she put on her street clothes and exited the hospital for the night on complete autopilot. There was no way she could have missed her first love liking her back. No way. Or at least she really hoped not.
And it was these very same thoughts that caused her to make her way down the main stairs in a daze. As she turned onto the empty sidewalk right outside the hospital, she was so engrossed in her thoughts that she failed to notice the black ice covering the previously snowy sidewalk. She promptly slipped and fell onto the concrete and after that she really didn’t think of much at all.
Woozily looking up, Karin heard him muttering to himself, before her blurry vision became clear.
“Injured slipping on the sidewalk, trauma to the head, likely has a concussion.”
And then he looked up from her chart and finally noticed just who his patient was. “Karin, for fuck’s sake.”
“Hey Toshiro.” She awkwardly waved and after a moment added, “You know you have a terrible bedside manner.”
His eyebrow twitched, “It’s Dr. Hitsugaya.”
“Ya, Dr. Hitsugaya whatever, what’s my prognosis, can I go home? I want to go to bed.”
“Too bad. You’re not sleeping until I know your brain is fine or someone’s there to wake you up every two hours.”
Unfortunately, Karin’s list of people to monitor her for concussion symptoms was very short and consisted solely of Yuzu. Yuzu, who was also conveniently at her boyfriend’s for Christmas eve. Her brother and father were both working tonight and she was unsure when they’d be off. Toshiro seemed to sense this because he started to open his mouth, probably to suggest she stay at the hospital and she immediately cut him off.
“I am not staying at the hospital tonight so you can forget that.”
He gave her a withering look before responding.
“Karin, I can’t just release you and you know it. Stop being stubborn and just stay here.”
“No.”
There was a long-suffering sigh in response and then, “I guess it’s up to me to keep you entertained then.”
“Aren’t you the only ER doctor on right now? Don’t you have like other patients to deal with?” She asked defiantly, she would be going home to sleep even if it was the last thing she did. Which, it very well could be if her brain was seriously injured but she didn’t really want to worry about that.
His eyebrow began to twitch again at this. “Yes, Karin but they’re all in stable condition for now and contrary to popular belief we’re not usually that busy on Christmas. Besides my shift is almost over anyways. I was just going to go chart for the last half hour.”
“So, I can go to sleep then?”
“No, you can nap on the couch in my office and I’ll wake you up and take you to Ichigo’s. Rukia should be home if he isn’t.”
She almost argued back but then she saw the infamous unimpressed look on his handsome face and knew not to bother. This was not an argument she would win.
“Whatever.”
Karin was momentarily confused when instead of responding Toshiro left the room, practically sprinting through the archway to avoid the mistletoe. She eased herself off the bed to follow and quickly became aware which parts of her body had taken the brunt of her fall: mainly her butt and her head. What a great Christmas eve this was shaping up to be.
She managed to settle herself just as Toshiro appeared around the corner rolling a wheelchair. “Toshiro, no.”
“Karin, yes.”
This conversation repeated several times before Toshiro simply took it upon himself to forcefully shove her into the wheelchair and Karin found herself being awkwardly wheeled down the hallway. Today was definitely not her day. She supposed having one of the most attractive doctors in the hospital dote on you wasn’t the worst thing to happen.
Toshiro’s office was exactly what she expected it to be like, overly organized and painted in different shades of grey and blue. He brought the wheelchair to a stop next to his predictably grey but very comfortable looking couch. He moved to help her to the couch, but she waved him off.
“I’ll be back I just have to go collect some paperwork. Take a nap and I’ll wake you when it’s time to leave.”
She didn’t need to be told twice, she had already maneuvered herself onto the plush couch and was ready to conk off. The last thing she saw before her eyes closed was his scowling face as he ripped a sprig of mistletoe out of the doorjamb.
She woke next to blaring hospital lights as she was once again wheeled down the hallway, this time towards the parking garage. “Do I want to know how you got me back into this wheelchair without waking me up?”
“With great difficulty Kurosaki and that’s all you need to know.”
“Yeah, I definitely don’t want to know. So, there’s no way I can convince you to just drop me off at my apartment, right?”
“Not unless I stay the night Karin and to be honest me sleeping on the couch in that situation is not how I had imagined that would play out.”
Was that flirting? That was definitely flirting but she wasn’t going to call him out on it. She didn’t have the presence of mind to verbally spar with him right now. But clearly her sleep deprived brain had other ideas.
“So, tell me Toshiro who do you think is going to win the hospital mistletoe bet this year?”
Why did she bring that up????
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He replied easily as they arrived at his black BMW.
“Yes, you do, and quite frankly I’m impressed I’ve never seen someone literally somersault away from a group of nurses.”
He groaned as he courteously opened her door before helping her inside his of course perfectly clean car.
“Karin it’s not funny, it’s gotten to the point where I dread the Christmas season. I considered an extended leave of absence for the whole month of December.” His face as he started the car told he was 100% serious.
“Why don’t you just kiss someone then?” She asked as he started the car, making his way towards her brother’s apartment. His unenthusiastic grunt was her only response.
“You could even rig the betting pool; I’d bet Matsumoto would help you and you would make bank.”
“Of course, you’d suggest something like that Kurosaki.”
“Yeah, just so long as I’m in on it, I want a piece of the cut.”
This time she got an amused look in response instead of annoyance.
“No but for real just pick a cute nurse, give her a smooch and it’s all over. Four Decembers is a long time to deal with this.” Somehow, she managed to refrain from suggesting she herself be this cute nurse, but she was sure if he really wanted, he could figure it out.
“They usually start in November.”
“Even worse.”
The rest of the ride was spent in their usual amicable silence. A few times Karin almost nodded off but was pleasantly awoken by a swift smack in the arm each time. Stupid doctor Toshiro.
They arrived at her brother’s apartment soon enough and she nearly had to fight Toshiro so he wouldn’t go inside and apprise Rukia of the whole situation. “I may be tired but I’m not tired enough not to let Rukia know I probably have a concussion.”
“Could have fooled me.”
“Yeah, yeah. Anyways thanks for taking care of me, I owe you a favour.” She said as she dragged herself out of the warm car and around towards the building entrance. She was about to give one more wave when the driver’s side window rolled down and Toshiro beckoned her over.
“Can I collect on my favour now?”
She gave him what she was sure was a very confused look, what could he possibly want from concussion Karin at 4 am on Christmas morning?
She bent down closer to the window to ask him what the hell he could possibly want from her when suddenly her sleepy brain was made aware of the fact that Toshiro Hitsugaya was suddenly holding something above her head, and it was mistletoe. Her eyes went back and forth between him and the plant for several seconds before she finally spoke.
“Really this is your big move. I’ve been waiting for this since I was 21 stupid.”
“Whatever Kurosaki are you going to put me out of my misery or do I have to spend the next 4 Decembers avoiding this stupid plant again.”
He looked entirely too pleased with himself but really Karin could deal with it if she got to kiss one of the hottest ER doctors. Who could complain?
The next morning Matsumoto won the betting pool and was seen discreetly sharing her earnings with a certain white-haired doctor and his new girlfriend in the break room a few days later.

Fateful Encounter
Hello everyone! So I likely won’t be able to write anything for tomorrow and so i’ll leave my final day message here. It’s been fun to participate in this year’s Hitsuhina week. Everyone in the fandom is so sweet and talented im glad to be a part of it. I’ll see ya next year form more material on our cute ship.
Ok so onto the fic. This AU is currently in development for me as it will have many ships, but since Toshiro and Momo’s roles are already taken care of, I thought they could be used in this one-shot. In this AU, Toshiro is a barista and Momo is a secretary. They both work at a college. I hope you like!
@hitsuhina-week
Hitsuhina Week Day 6 - Fate/AU
Fateful Encounter
"Yes, Mrs. De La Rosa, I shall take a break but only after I get these reports done. The whole group is depending on them so we must be on time!" Momo had her phone in one hand, her ice coffee on the other and a variety of book bags. As the secretary of the Science department at her college, she needed to make sure everything was ready for the new semester
The coffee shop was full. Many students were struggling to catch up on their subjects, along with teachers making their lesson plans. Momo was careful to evade the tables and get out of there as fast as possible.
She headed for the elevator before it closed however someone was running towards it.
"Keep the door open!"
Momo obeyed, pressing the button until the person came in. He was a boy about two years younger than her, he had white hair and a barista uniform, she recognized him by the name tag.
"Toshiro-san?"
"You remember my name?"
"Of course, you're usually the one who makes my drink. I see you on the daily."
Despite being tired from the run, Toshiro looked happy. "You forgot your change back at the shop."
"Oh, that's right. Thanks for bringing it to me. I'm just really busy."
"I can tell. You look like I do during rush hour."
That made her laugh, but the happiness was short-lived. The elevator made a screeching sound and suddenly stopped, the emergency lights came on
"A blackout?! At this hour?! It can't be. I don't have much time."
She tried to hit the door but nothing happened. Momo began crying.
"Hey hey, no don't cry. People know we're here. My coworkers will call security." Toshiro tried to comfort her, softly patting her back.
Momo hugged him without thinking. "It's just, I have a report to make and- and I have to finish it tonight or-"
"You need to calm down Miss Momo. Look if you have spare paper I can help you. We can work on your report until we get out. Is that ok?"
With the anxiety subsiding Momo nodded. "Ok."
***
'This is why I don't like office work.' Toshiro thought as he finished another page.
He glanced at Momo, the secretary was immersed in her work, even though they were almost finished.
"I'm sorry," she muttered.
"Why do you apologize?"
"Had it not been for me, you wouldn't be trapped in this hunk of metal, writing a report."
"I don't mind. I'm glad I can help you. Besides I needed a break from my boss, she's a chatterbox."
Momo laughed. "I know. Rangiku is very sweet but she's a handful. Can't be worse than working with the wife of your ex-crush."
"Wait, what? How did that happen?"
"I applied to this college because the man I had a crush on was the head of the law faculty. Unfortunately for me, the only job was secretary of the science faculty. I soon found out the head of the faculty was his wife."
"That's rough."
"Not anymore. I've gotten over him. His wife is really sweet and he's happy with her. That's all that matters to me, I'll find someone that wants me one day."
Toshiro bit his lip. He couldn't tell her he'd been secretly crushing on her for months. The secretary was smart, kind, and very cute. Sometimes he felt flustered just by looking at her smile.
"You'll find your prince charming one day. Amazing women like you, will always find a good person."
"Thanks, Toshiro. That's so sweet of you to say."
The lights came back up and the elevator was moving upwards.
"Yes! This is perfect. I'm sure I'll be done with this in half an hour now. Thanks for your help Toshiro-san!" she hugged him.
Toshiro returned the gesture. "No problem. When you're done with the report...can I invite you to lunch?"
"I'd love that."
When the elevator reached the 4th floor, Momo stepped out with her things, she waved goodbye at him.
Toshiro waved back, letting out a sigh once the elevator doors closed. 'Finally, I asked her.'
He felt something in his pocket.
"Dang it, she forgot her change again."
***
"I handed everything to Anna just in time. She was so happy, and then promptly told me to take the rest of the day off."
Rangiku rolled her eyes. "That's cuz you're becoming a workaholic Hinamori-san," Rangiku told her. "I'm happy Annie let you early. Toshiro-san is giddy as hell that you have more time for your 'lunch'"
"Maaaaaatsuuuumooootoooo!!!"
Momo jumped in her seat when she heard Toshiro yell at his boss.
"You better not be telling Hinamori any lies."
"What me? I haven't done anything Shiro~" Rangiku batted her eyelashes a few times and began walking away. "Enjoy yourselves kiddos!"
"Sorry about that. Shall we go?" Toshiro offered his arm. Momo wrapped her arms around his and smiled too.
"Sure! Let's head out."
What started as a stressful morning had become an eventful day thanks to her favorite barista. Maybe this could be the beginning of good things for both of them.

Silence (YR 1) - WRN: anxiety triggers
I wrote a thing for clumsychappy’s work. It’s at 42k right now, but I’m lacking motivation to finish it so I’m just gonna excerpt some of the parts that are decent until I can find the resolve and time to finish it.
I did so much research into this fic that it’s pretty sad that it’s so shit. I wish I was a better writer. These things all sound better in your head than on paper or word documents.
Between accompanying Orihime and bothering Rukia, Ichigo finds his time preoccupied compared to his first week of summer vacation. Ichigo refuses to admit brooding those first few days after Mizuiro and Keigo left, but will honestly admit bored the last few days after aimlessly wandering Tokyo and listlessly staring at his apartment ceiling. Although his promenading in Tokyo wasn't completely wasted since he discovers a bar that he actually doesn't mind too much.
The Black Cat is situated at the end of a cloister of stores and restaurants, almost blending in with the shops surrounding it if Ichigo didn't notice the pulse of music coming from it one night. Inside, the bar's dim, color-alternating lighting sets the atmosphere, exuding class and secrecy. Even from just one look, no touching, Ichigo can tell the bar is made from real mahogany wood, glinting dangerously underneath the low lighting. But for looking so sophisticated, the price is pretty reasonable and it attracts a variety of people with the thrumming music felt from below the establishment, where the later night activities tend to occur.
Yoruichi, the manager, knows Ichigo by name, not because he frequents the place that often but because he literally and accidentally stepped on the black cat his first night there. Yowling, the feline had darted up the hidden stairs behind the bar, notifying Yoruichi of the incident when she caught sight of the cat's tail. He almost got thrown out for that, but after tiring of his apologies she plied him with drinks to shut him up. After that--which Ichigo can't recall for the life of him--she always teases him like they have been good friends for years.
Ichigo also hasn't seen that black cat no matter how many times he's gone back.
He can't get it out of his mind either since Rukia likes to remind him of his cat murderer status, every time. Yoruichi assures him that it’s doing fine too, "It'll show up when it wants to."
Which is how he finds himself heading out to the Black Cat every night just to prove his point to Rukia, oftentimes dragging her along to bear witness to his innocence. Rukia puts up a fight every time, kicking and digging her heels in, but surrenders once they're around the corner. Ichigo likes to think it's because she gets to pet and feed the other stray cats that hang around the establishment.
"You play with the cats and I'll be inside." Ichigo tells her every time they do this. Rukia simply sticks her tongue out at him, then resumes her deadly rub down on the furry victim of the night.
'Those poor cats.' Ichigo can't help thinking as he slips back through the backdoor of the Black Cat, heading towards the stairs that lead down to the lower floor, dubbed 'Grounds' by the regulars, whom Ichigo has slowly become acquainted with:
There's Matsumoto Rangiku, a third year in Sociology, who's more like a resident than a customer. From what he hears, Yoruichi always finds her in the morning passed out in random places of the Black Cat. There's even a small room built for her in the bar now, for her to properly pass out in. Ichigo suspects the bedding is still brand new.
Hitsugaya Toshiro, a third year in Mathematics. He doesn't speak often and tends to occupy the least crowded space in the Grounds.
Madarame Ikkaku, a second year in Engineering, that likes to butt heads with Ichigo constantly. One time they nearly drank down Yoruichi's entire bar, almost forcing her to close for the night. When they kept going at it though, she billed their open tab plus collateral damage for all their drunken shenanigans to their respective address. Upon receiving it, they both understood it was a threat. Ichigo's tried behaving ever since, but sometimes Ikkaku makes it too easy to be destructive.
Ayasegawa Yumichika, a second year in Oriental History with eccentric tastes and a narcissistic personality. When Ichigo first met Yumichika, the vain male had commented on Ichigo's drool-worthy form and firmness that Ichigo's been unable to erase from his memories. So, he avoids being alone with the upperclassmen. Based on their interactions though, Ichigo assumes Ikkaku and Yumichika have a history together. They bicker like an old married couple.
And then there's Hirako Shinji and his gang of friends that Ikkaku cautions against associating with, but doesn't explain why. Regardless, Ichigo gives them a wide berth. Although, when he catches Hirako talking to a frozen, wide-eyed Rukia in her usual spot of the alleyway, Ichigo throws a punch at the blonde without thinking. Perceptive, Hirako dodges it easily with a mocking laugh and biting words, "Want to try that again, boy?"
Provoked, Ichigo prepares to throw another punch but stops when Rukia's own fist flies past him, landing squarely on the side Hirako’s face. Stunned, Ichigo and Shinji remain fixed in their position, Ichigo with his fist still in mid-air and Hirako on the concrete with his hand accessing the damage. From this angle, Ichigo can't see what is happening, if anything is happening at all, but something must be if Rukia's clenching hands at her sides and Shinji's resigned expression are any indication.
"Did that idiot do something stupid again?" A voice from behind Ichigo asks.
Looking over his shoulders, Ichigo sees the short, pigtail pipsqueak that's always hanging around Hirako. Ichigo remembers Hirako calling out her name on several occasions, Hiyori or Hiyoko*?
"I deserved it this time." Hirako divulges, allowing Hiyori to help him up.
"You deserve it every time." Hiyori corrects with a scowl, poking the bruise that's already starting to form on Hirako’s face.
"Oooowwww oww! Not the face!" Hirako pleads, his screams cut off when the resounding shut of the back door to the Black Cat closes.
Left alone now, Ichigo approaches Rukia, coming around her so she can see him, not wanting to alarm her. They stand like that for what seems like the end of the hour, Ichigo waiting and Rukia agitated. With a deep, long exhale though, Rukia's tension slowly begins to ebb. Only when Rukia finally untucks her chin, meeting Ichigo's eyes, does Ichigo ask, "You alright?"
Rukia closes her eyes briefly, as if thinking of the answer. It's slow to come, but the unconscious subtle bob of her head answers Ichigo's concerns for her and they leave it at that. Ichigo should've known better than to accept that as her answer though.
Especially when the subsequent nights at the Black Cat start changing Ichigo and Rukia's routine.
Rukia no longer plays with the cats in the alleyway instead mingles with the crowds in the Grounds. Although she doesn't mingle so much as stand next to Toshiro or is hauled to the dance floor by a drunk Rangiku, only to be promptly abandoned after the busty woman finds her next prey. Sometimes Ichigo will catch her talking to Shinji or his friends, her lips appearing to move as if she were actually conversating, but Ichigo blames it on the flashing lights or alcohol in his system. There is no way Rukia is actually speaking to someone, let alone someone she just punched by way of introduction.
It takes Urahara, the owner of the bar who appears and disappears randomly, pulling Ichigo aside before he starts realizing something is off.
"Kurosaki-kun! You're practically here every night now, you know?" Urahara emerges from a random sliding door next to the wall Ichigo is leaning on, nearly scaring the younger man.
"What the hell, Urahara!" Ichigo yells, backing away from the enigmatic bar-owner. Ichigo could've sworn that wall he was previously leaning against was as smooth as his last drink.
"I can't but notice that Kuchiki-san is spending more time down here than outside with the cats."
"I guess. Maybe she wanted a change in scenery?" Ichigo scoffs, searching the said woman out in the swarm of bodies and bright lights. Rangiku pulled her into the middle of the floor earlier with promises of showing her the proper moves of the hips.
Ichigo finds it difficult to immerse himself into the sway of the music, company of his friends, and drinking games when he knows Rukia is nearby. So, the past few days have been spent sulking like Toshiro while keeping his eyes trained on Rukia. Eyes that Rukia sense even in the intensity of the Grounds or feel dancing on her skin amid a throng of people. Rukia's berated him about it several times, comparing him to a guard dog to drive her point across.
Still, Ichigo couldn’t shake off the urge to seek her out. In fact, he’s never been able to since the start.
"I don't know Kuchiki-san personally, but I hardly think this is her kind of scene." Urahara frowns at Ichigo's nonchalance.
"I thought so too until a few days ago when she wanted to join me down here." Ichigo defends himself at Urahara's accusative look.
"And you weren't curious about the sudden change of heart?"
"Of course I was!" Ichigo retorts in annoyance at Urahara's persistence about this, "But I didn't think to ask her becau--"
"Because she probably wouldn't have told you." Urahara finishes for him as if he was privy to their relationship from just one glance.
"If you know then why are you asking, shaggy-clogs?"
"I don't know." Urahara smiles mysteriously at Ichigo before becoming the most serious Ichigo has ever seen, "But I do know where she goes two times a night when she's down her in the Ground."
"What?" Ichigo’s eyes widen.
"Don't you ever notice how she disappears around the same time? How pale and sweaty she looks afterwards? The way she smells sometimes, and I'm not talking about the alcohol." Urahara hints and with each observation he lists Ichigo's head starts thinking instead of noticing and feeling.
"Shit." Ichigo curses, having pieced it all together.
"Yoruichi has already secured the ladies room." Urahara imparts to Ichigo who has already taken off.
While pushing his way through the sweaty bodies of the Ground, Ichigo can't help admonishing himself,
'How stupid of you.'
'Why did it take this long for you to realize?'
'When did Urahara notice? Yoruichi?'
And specifically, 'Why didn't she say anything?'
Finally, out of the fog of the Grounds and in the lull of Black Cat's main room, Ichigo's head starts spinning from the sudden expend in energy and shift in his surroundings, but he doesn't take a moment for himself at all, only thinking of Rukia.
"Ichigo! Wait!" Yoruichi attempts to stop the younger man, but Ichigo ignores her pleas, brushing her off as he pushes open the door to the lady's lavatory.
It's eerily quiet and spotless as if there's no one in here, but Ichigo already knows once he steps into the restroom that someone is in here. Ichigo doesn't have to look into every stall to know where Rukia is, his feet already taking him to the one she's hiding in: the one furthest from the entrance.
With shaky hands and trepidation, Ichigo knocks lightly on the unlocked door of the stall. He doesn't want to enter without Rukia's permission, but he's also too anxious to just stand around that he starts speaking without realizing it, "Rukia. Rukia? Are you ok? Talk to me? ...Just say something if you're fine so I know, un?"
Silence.
Ichigo almost feels his heart stop when he hears slight movement from behind the door and then a cry of anguish that steals his breath and thoughts.
"I'm sorry, Rukia. I'm coming in." Ichigo announces before cracking the door wide enough to slide through.
The first thing Ichigo notices in the dark stall is the smell, poignant enough to halt him. Closer to the source now, it smells of putrid acid with a heavy air of self-doubt and self-contempt, with all of it coming from the wretched form draped over the toilet.
"Rukia!" Ichigo calls out, kneeling on the floor to take a better look at his friend. Lifting Rukia's head, Ichigo sweeps her hair back from her face while wiping her face with the hem of his shirt. She looks out of it from what little light filters in from over the stall. Fearing for the worst, Ichigo promptly checks her vitals while supporting her neck. From Rukia’s erratic breathing, her airways aren’t blocked. Feeling her pulse, Ichigo confirms that she’s in no danger, even if her pulse is slower than normal. Her hands are cold, but her face is warm: signs of a panic attack passing. Upon closer inspection too, she's so very pale and perspiring.
Ichigo concedes to call for medical emergency if Rukia doesn’t rouse within a few minutes.
“Rukia.” Ichigo whispers as if he’s afraid of the quiet.
“Rukia.” Ichigo tries again, this time louder.
When that doesn’t seem to work, he tries a more physical approach: shaking her gently, pinching the pads of her fingers, rubbing the warmth back into her body, and unconsciously stroking her pulse points as if that would be enough to shock the life back into her.
After having done everything in his ability and training, Ichigo succumbs to his emotions and as a [last ditch] effort collapses back against the wall of the stall with Rukia. Tucked in between his arms and legs, Ichigo keeps repeating her name, hoping it would rouse her. Only when his lips are almost brushing the pinna of her left ear does Rukia start to stir, mumbling incoherently, except her noises quickly dissolve into broken garbling cries as she tries to claw out from within Ichigo's body caging her in.
Heart seizing, Ichigo struggles to remain the calm one all through the noises escaping Rukia like gurgling glass. He tries to calm her first by reassuring her that she's fine, that there's no danger, that it's just him--Ichigo--but when her movements grow even more frantic, he worries she'll hurt herself if she keeps struggling. So, he does the only thing sure enough to stop her: Ichigo clamps his legs together, tighter, restricting Rukia's thrashing then cups Rukia's face between his hands and leans forward, sealing his lips over hers.
Rukia stills instantly, eyes flying open in surprise as chaotic violets finally meet honey amber.
When they part, eyes still on each other, Rukia's expression morphs in inconsolable anguish. So close to each other, Ichigo sees it all, her fall from grace: in the way the light dies in her eyes, the way her brows crease severely, the way the lines around her eyes sink further into her skin, the way the bottom of her lips glisten, wet from his kiss, and quiver. Tormented, Ichigo tucks her further into his arms while trying to erase her expression from his mind before his heart is crushed against it.
Nestled against chest, with her breath against his neck, Rukia mouths apologies into Ichigo's skin. Ichigo's only reply is to hold her even tighter like the vice around his heart, suffocating him and rendering him broken.

Hey sweets! So, the captains go camping. Kinda like those corporate retreats where they test their mettle by being in the wildness for a week. Who is the natural survivalist? Who can’t cope? Who surprises themselves by rising to the challenge & adapting with some impressive skills? Have fun! ❤️😘
Tumblr media
Lol, these ask! I had too much fun writing these! When I was making them, I kept finding myself saying this the same thing in each ask or making too many references to others, so I decided to combine them and address each captain and lieutenant by their respective Division. I wrote these as if they all went on the same camping trip together. I hope readers enjoy them just as much as I did! 😂😂😂
Ah! And thank you @shadowsnlace for letting me use your hc!
SHUNSUI KYORAKU AND NANAO ISE
The head captain is a lazy bum even while camping. You'd think he's helpless and can't fend for himself, but in reality it’s just that his laziness knows no bounds. He'll try to mooch off Nanao, but she won't let him. So his next go-to will be poor Jushiro (who doesn't have the heart to turn him away). Nanao will nag Shunsui for bumming off of Jushiro. She’ll use a can of mosquito repellant as a substitute book for whacking Shunsui in the head each time she deems he needs it. Nanao will have a camping guide in her hand at ALL times, and she will utilize Shunsui as a pack mule when they're heading to their campsite with their fellow campers. Shunsui will be whining having to carry literally everything, while Nanao leads the way with a map in hand.
-Shunsui: Why are you so mean, my little Nanao-chan? 😭
-Nanao: I refuse to let you get the both of us lost in the middle of the woods!
Alas, despite Nanao’s greatest efforts, Shunsui will be drunk before its time to make the s’mores. Before they had left the Seireitei, Nanao had gone behind Shunsui and removed all of his packed n̶e̶c̶e̶s̶s̶i̶t̶i̶e̶s̶ sake. Unfortunately for Nanao, however, she and Captain Hitsugaya failed to do the same thing for Rangiku- and drunkards help drunkards. Nanao will be fuming next to a certain snow-haired captain.
SUI-FENG AND MARECHIYO OMAEDA
If it were not for special circumstances, these two would have never stepped foot outside of the Seireitei. Sui-Feng can't be bothered by something as “childish” as camping, but what got her into kahoots with this was listening to her lazy Lieutenant nag about how camping is not an appropriate activity for a “rich and handsome” man. T̶h̶i̶s̶ g̶a̶v̶e̶ S̶u̶i̶-F̶e̶n̶g̶ a̶l̶l̶ t̶h̶e̶ e̶x̶c̶u̶s̶e̶ i̶n̶ t̶h̶e̶ w̶o̶r̶l̶d̶ t̶o̶ b̶u̶l̶l̶y̶ h̶e̶r̶ l̶i̶e̶u̶t̶e̶n̶a̶n̶t̶. Similar to Nanao, Sui-Feng utilizes her lieutenant as a pack mule. The only difference is, Omaeda is carrying HER, too.
-Omaeda: Captain, why do I have to carry you AND all of the stuff?
-Sui-Feng, is sitting on top of the luggage strapped up on Omaeda’s back: Shut up, and follow the other pack mule in front of you (s̶h̶e̶ i̶s̶ t̶a̶l̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ a̶b̶o̶u̶t̶ S̶h̶u̶n̶s̶u̶i̶).
Later on, Omaeda soon learns that the double-tent that captains and lieutenants are sharing will be off-limits to him; Sui-Feng will say it is part of his training. Poor Omaeda has to sleep in his sleeping bag outside; Sui-Feng uses the extra space in the 2nd-Division themed double tent as an open room just in case Yoruichi decides to go camping with them. There is a cat bed and an extra sleeping bag, so that Yoruichi can decide which form she'd rather sleep in. Sui-Feng spends the rest of the night fantasizing about sharing a tent with Yoruichi. Forces her enslaved Omaeda to find wild catnip just in case Yoruichi drops by for a visit.
ROJURO "ROSE" OTORIBASHI AND IZURU KIRA
The only thing Rose packs for the trip is his guitar. He doesn't see a need for anything else. Kira, the ever worrisome cinnamon roll, will borrow Nanao’s camping guide to make sure he has everything. He also visits Unohana to get a brief lesson in identifying dangerous plants, like poisonous mushrooms and poison ivy. He also asks Hanataro if he can borrow the best, most up-to-date medical kit the 4th Division has.
Kira will haul a wagon for their stuff, and Rose will be in the wagon, singing and playing guitar songs to the passing scenery. After they get to the campsite, Rose will help Kira pitch a tent, but he will want their duo-tent to have a more “dramatic” feel to it. So he leaves to gather some beautiful plants and flowers to decorate the area. Kira has a mini heart attack when he recognizes one of the plants as poison ivy. Kira freaks out when he further realizes that of all things, he forgets to bring poison ivy cream- something that is not included in the medical kit. Rose and Kira have to go see Captain Mom (Unohana).
Later on, Rose will insist to play his music, even though his fingers still suffer from poison ivy.
-Kira: But, Captain, you're still-
-Rose: No, Lieutenant! The show must go on!
-Retsu: I'll be over here when you next need me.
RETSU UNOHANA AND ISANE KOTETSU
Retsu will find enjoyment in any activity that involves interaction with the great outdoors. Isane will be nervous, but if she sees her captain taking this into her ever present grace, Isane will give it a whirl. Unohana will use Minazuki to transport her and Isane’s needed essentials. Given her history, Unohana will be an expert living off the land. The only problem there will be is if she can't spice her food the way she likes; Unohana prefers strong foods, so she will be packing a basket special for adding savory spices and seasonings to her dishes. Meanwhile, she will realize Isane is following her like an imprinted duckling, so Unohana will encourage Isane to start trying new and different things. This is when Isane will find that she is a prodigal child at identifying wild plants. Isane won't initially realize it's because of all of those lessons from Unohana over the years; In her free time, Unohana travels into the Rukon to gather wild herbs, so Unohana can do the same. Unohana will chuckle and begin to teach Isane new stuff.
Later, Isane will grab her camera to find Nemu to go take pictures of stuff around the campsite, and Unohana steals the opportunity to turn the two of them into kindred spirits by mentioning bird-watching. Unohana “convinces” Mayuri to let Isane and Nemu borrow his binoculars. Later on, while everyone is making s’mores, Unohana will sit next to Ukitake and sip tea while watching her younger friends and colleagues go about with their shenanigans. She will also scold Isane if she eats too many sweets, and she will scold at Zaraki for letting Yachiru eat s’mores for dinner.
After the camping trip, Isane will want to start going with Unohana to the Rukon, as a result of finding her new talent.
SHINJI HIRAKO AND MOMO HINAMORI
First thing that comes to mind: Poor Momo. She has the worst possible partner.
Shinji is not an outside person AT ALL, and he has awful camping experiences in the Human World thanks to Love, Kensei, and Lisa. Shinji makes sure to bring along all sorts of spider killer and bug repellant. (Kensei anticipates this and goes behind Shinji to replace all the poison with sugar water.) Momo gets to choose the tent and she picks a watermelon themed duo-tent that makes Shinji whine. Momo ends up leaving early to walk with Isane, so Shinji soon finds himself on Team Pack Mule.
Once at the campsite, he expertly assembles the obnoxious tent before deciding to go for a swim in the lake. He then has to visit Captain Mom when he comes back with his back covered in leeches. Being extremely anti anything that wiggles and crawls, Retsu has to stomach his whining and squirming while showing him medical assistance. Shinji now can't be caught dead anywhere near the “dangerous” lake. Even Rose tells him he's being dramatic; Now everyone is staring at Rose like HE’S the weirdo.
Momo will sit with Isane and Sajin while Isane explains all the different kinds of wild plants to be found in the woods. Momo then learns about some white flowers and brings them to Toshiro. She discovers Toshiro holed himself up in his tent because “its too hot” and he's “being eaten alive by bugs.” Momo spends the rest of her time drawing Toshiro out to have some fun.
Later on, Momo is eating s’mores with extra chocolate. She happily takes in the s’mores Toshiro rejects from Jushiro. The child in her asks Jushiro for stories by the campfire. Momo is too sweet and innocent for this world.
Later on in the night, Shinji wakes up with the spider the size of a baseball crawling on his face and the rest is history. Momo ends up spending the night with a knocked out Rangiku in the 10th Division tent. Shinji ends up getting pitied by the pure-hearted Sajin and earns a safe place in the dog-themed tent. Lisa and Kensei are blue in the face trying to hold back from laughing.
BYAKUYA KUCHIKI AND RENJI ABARAI
Believe it or not, Byakuya has an initial impression to camping comparable to Omaeda. However, Byakuya is surprisingly open-minded to new things (that are reasonable, of course). He gets looped into the trip when he overhears Rukia and Renji talking about it. Oh? Camping? Where he can show off his independent, manly skill? Where he can exercise his artistic sense in the arts of knots and wood carving? Count him in!
Byakuya will carry only his backpack. Renji joins Team Pack Mule with Shunsui and Omaeda, because you can't expect Byakuya to do THAT. Byakuya enjoys the hike into the mountains to the best spot to pitch camp. He buys a camping guide just like Nanao’s, as well as a map of the local area. While walking through the woods, he will drink in everything: sights, sounds, smells. It's all inspiration for this artistic man.
The duo-tent that Byakuya and Renji share look more like the parent-and-child duo-tents; Byakuya’s tent is huge, and Renji’s looks like it's the kiddie part. The Kuchiki Clan seal is bold on Byakuya’s, while the 6th Division flower is on Renji’s.
After the tent is pitched, Byakuya’s interest will perk when he notices all of the interesting stuff by the lake-side: shells, freshwater crawfish and crabs, birds, and mudskippers. Who knew a lakeside would be home to so much activity?
Meanwhile, Renji will occasionally squabble with Rukia for antagonizing her about her chappy theme tent, and later he, Ikkaku, and Iba find themselves in the mixes with Rangiku’s issued sake challenge.
SAJIN KOMAMURA AND TETSUZAEMON IBA
Sajin will be a natural at camping. Due to his wolf-side, he will feel more at home in the the woods than he does in the scrutinous society of the Seireitei. Having a heart of gold, he’ll offer to carry Iba’s things to him, but Iba won't let him. Sajin and Iba will follow Scout Leader Nanao as she leads the group to the camping site and they agree to pitch their dog-themed duo tent right next to the lake so they can have that awesome view the next morning.
Sajin will want to go hiking, and later he'll bump into Isane while she is exploring the woods and looking for rare plants and herbs. He gets caught up in listening to Isane talk about different herbs and their uses. He'll lay in the grass, staring up at Isane with big bright eyes and nodding occasionally, completely engrossed in everything she is teaching him.
Meanwhile, Iba will get wrapped up with Ikkaku and Renji; those fools are seeing who will be the last to get drunk, a competition originally started by Rangiku.
LISA YADOMARU
Lisa is chill as fuck, just like her old boss, Shunsui. Only difference is, she can get off scot-free with bumming off others. She had perfected the art of slipping past Nanao’s bullshit-sensory radar. Lisa can pitch her own tent, and as she is without a lieutenant, she just has a single tent. Which, believe it or not, is just FINE by her.
Half of Lisa’s packed essentials are actually porn mags. She doesn't bother with packing food because she knows Kensei will be packing his kitchen. After she sets up her tent, she will sit by Rangiku and the two of them will be sipping sake and cooing at half naked girls in magazines. Shunsui will slyly join them eventually. Unlike Shunsui and Rangiku, Lisa can hold her liquor, so she won't be drunk by the time it's time to bust out the s’mores. That's around the time she'll hatch her evil plan with Kensei.
KENSEI MUGURUMA, MASHIRO KUNA, AND SHUHEI HISAGI
Mr. Sexy won't have any problem going camping. As in matter of fact, having lived in the Human World, he's done it before with the other Vizards. So this is a piece of cake. He and Shuhei split the load of stuff together and follow Scout Leader Nanao to the best camping spot available. Shuhei will eagerly follow his role model and he listens diligently while Kensei teaches Shuhei camping basics. Mashiro tags along, too, but she steals Sui-Feng’s idea and hitches a ride on Kensei. Kensei will nag and complain, but Mashiro will get her way.
Later on, Kensei will have attracted a mini-crowd to his cookfire when he makes a makeshift grill out of a thin slab of rock over a fire. People start bringing him stuff to cook up, and Chef Sexy has no issue in doing so. Retsu allows him to use some of her packed spices, and when Kensei starts cooking the meat Zaraki and Ikkaku brings him, Toshiro the meat lover is first in line. After everyone has had their fill, Kensei joins forces with Lisa and the two of them go spider hunting.
Later that night, the entire camp will wake up to Shinji and Momo screaming about spiders crawling around in their dual-tent. The spider prank was meant for Shinji; poor Momo was just collateral damage. Sorry, Momo.
TOSHIRO HITSUGAYA AND RANGIKU MATSUMOTO
Camping? To be honest, Toshiro is just like Sui-Feng on this one. A captain of the Gotei 13 cannot be bothered with such things when there are important duties to be- Wait, all of the other captains are going camping too? Maybe it's not so bad after all. And he cannot possibly say no to Momo. Toshiro decides to use a wagon like Rose and Kira to tote his and Rangiku’s things, with the intentions of them taking turns pulling it. Unfortunately for Toshiro, it doesn't take long for Rangiku to pull a Rose and hitch a ride in the wagon, and thus Toshiro is an official member of Team Pack Mule. Only difference is Rose is serenading the trees and she is making Z’s (I have a Seuss-Muse! 😎).
Toshiro ends up having to pitch the 10th-Division theme tent himself. Rangiku wakes up ready to party and she suddenly starts pulling out a whole liquor store from the bag Toshiro THOUGHT he packed up some paperwork in.
-Rangiku, giggling: Oh, I had to make room for the party essentials, Captain!
-Toshiro: MATSUMOTO!
Shunsui: *casually slides in for the sake*
When it gets super hot, Toshiro is needed to make some ice. Kensei also takes advantage of this, and Toshiro gets his earnings in meat. This boy is a meat lover, and he pitches a fit when a tipsy Rangiku eats off his plate. He also gets yelled at by Mayuri when his “annoying, stupid ice menace” obscures the view of the Mayuri Tree. Sorry, Mayuri.
Later on, Toshiro is pouting with Nanao while watching Rangiku and Shunsui waste themselves into the “young, infant night.” Toshiro tells Rose to quit messing up his self thought narrations with dramatic descriptions of the night. He also has to fend off Jushiro’s attempts of feeding him s’mores and sweets.
KENPACHI ZARAKI AND YACHIRU KUSAJISHI
Yachiru: Ken-chan, let’s go camping!
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is all it takes to get Zaraki camping. To be honest, though, Zaraki technically goes camping ALL the time. Yachiru often gets the two of them lost in the middle of the woods and have sometimes had to spend the night somewhere in the middle of the Rukon. To Kenpachi, THIS time, they were sleeping in the middle of the woods on PURPOSE. That concept misses him by miles, but he'll do it to make Yachiru happy. Besides, SOMEBODY has to protect the camp from cave bears! But, Kenpachi will refuse to carry anything other than Yachiru on his shoulder, thus Ikkaku gets put on the list of things to bring camping and is promptly enlisted for Team Pack Mule. (Yumichika will refuse to go camping; It's not good for his beauty.)
Ikkaku is also tasked with pitching the tent. Mr.Muscles can't be bothered with guides to setting up tents though; he tries to get it done himself until finally Renji and Kira have to show him how it's done.
Meanwhile, Zaraki goes cave bear hunting, and he brings back a lot of meat for Kensei to cook. Retsu makes sure to get her share of his kills. She asks “politely” and who can say no to such a sweet woman?
MAYURI KUROTSUCHI AND NEMU KUROTSUCHI
Only a fool would invite Mayuri camping. First of all, it’s a miracle he decides to even GO, but coincidentally the camp trip date aligns with the days he was supposed to leave the Seireitei to collect fresh, new specimens. Naturally, Nemu tags along and joins Team PM with Shunsui, Omaeda, Shinji, Renji, Toshiro, and Ikkaku. Mayuri brings with him a portable, inflatable tent. Sadly, it didn't last 10 minutes; Yachiru thought it was a bouncy house and it exploded upon impact. There was no way Sui-Feng was giving up the extra space in her tent, so Mayuri gets Nemu to build a treehouse. Said treehouse is built in under an hour and it is where Mayuri will spend most of his time when he isn't out looking for v̶i̶c̶t̶i̶m̶s̶ animals.
Meanwhile, Nemu will be getting whisked away by Yachiru doing god-knows-what. When Yachiru isn't having her doing something that is for Nanao’s despair, Nemu and Isane will get their cameras and go bird-watching together.
Meanwhile, Mayuri will find himself in kahoots with Kenpachi. Zaraki unwittingly took an axe to Mayuri’s tree to make firewood out of it; Mayuri will have none of it.
-Mayuri: You ignorant baboon, don't you see me up here?
-Zaraki: *grunt* ‘Ey, Ikkaku, get a load of this. It's a jive-talkin’ monkey in a tree. Interestin’ huh?
-Ikkaku: Captain, that's Captain Kurotsuchi.
-Zaraki: Same thing.
-Mayuri: Specimens. All I wanted was specimens.
JUSHIRO UKITAKE AND RUKIA KUCHIKI
Camping?! Jushiro will be THRILLED to go camping! He doesn't even mind letting Rukia pick out a chappy themed duo-tent for them to share. Jushiro is the one who makes sure there are enough s’more ingredients for everyone, and he throws in extra sweets for Yachiru and Toshiro just in case. Captain Unohana goes behind him to make room for his medicines and their favorite brand of tea. Rukia adds their load to poor Renji, as she is Byakuya’s younger sister.
Jushiro will be walking with Nanao, chattering about all the fun stuff he'll be able to do with Shunsui the pack mule. Rukia watched Byakuya pitch his tent carefully and managed to pitch Fort Chappy single-handedly. The crappy themed duo-tent came with chappy-themed sleeping bags, equipped with these giant bunny ears. Jushiro is thrilled by how soft it is.
Jushiro finds fishing to be a wonderful thing to do while camping, and he brings the meat to sexy Chef Kensei to clean, prep, and cook. Later on, he busts out the s’mores for everyone and sits next to Retsu sipping the tea she slipped in his bag. She also makes sure he takes his medicine, as he is too excited and occupied to remember to do so himself. Jushiro attempts to feed a certain snow-haired captain s’mores (but ends up feeding them to Momo instead, as well as telling her embarrassing stories about Shunsui in their old, Academy days). This makes said snow-haired captain pout even more.
Meanwhile, Rukia likes to explore the lake-side with Byakuya, exploring all of the nice things there. She is also on constant defense of Fort Chappy against Renji’s jokes.

Lost
HitsuKarinweek2019 day 2 Nightmare.
He was always afraid to lose her, but what he didn't know is that he never had her to begin with.
“Hey Toshiro?” She asked softly. They two of them were sitting on the railing watching the sunset. It was one of those rare times when the ice captain decided to visit the human world, and he ended up helping her with another game. After the game they were just walking toward Karin's home when they saw the sunset.
“What?” he answered without looking up from his phone.
“What are you afraid of?” she asked.
This time he looked up from his phone, because the question had caught him off guard. He never thought she'd ask that. He got up and started moving away from her.
“Who know?” truth was… he was afraid for quite a lot of things, he was afraid that he wasn't strong enough compared to the rest of the captains, he was afraid for Hinamori who was too innocent for the world they lived in, he was always afraid to lose the people dear to him, he used to be afraid of losing control of his power and kill his grandmother or some other people when he was sleeping. But Kurosaki Karin didn't need to know that. In fact she didn't need to know anything about him, after all, he was a captain of the Gotei 13 and she was just a human and Kurosaki Ichigo's younger sister.
She quickly got up from the railing as well and followed him like the last time he visited. Karin sighed seeing that he wasn't going to answer her. She fully expected that, they've only met 3 times times so why would he want to tell her anything about him?
“Well I'm afraid for my family, I don't want to see them in harm, I don't like seeing Ichi-nii injured after a battle and I'm certainly afraid that one day Yuzu might leave me. Maybe I'm even afraid of death, I mean I don't want to be a ghost”
“You will become a soul after you died, you want it or not” he said in front of her.
“Well I guess that can't be helped, now can it?” She said, and he didn't answer so she sighed.
It was always quite awkward when it came to talking with him, Karin realised it that particular day. And for her it never felt the same, he was always pushing her away and she just wanted to be friends with him. Maybe she should try harder next time?
2 years later, she was 14, an she asked the same question again when she saw him. This time he wasn't on vacation but on a mission and the topic of his mission was her. During those two years when Ichigo lost his powers, her reiatsu started to grow and she became the one who protected the family even though she never wanted any powers. When Ichigo never got his powers back she started her training with Urahara's and Yoruichi because she wanted to protect her family and be the one to protect Ichigo this time. So when the soul society found out about her they sent him to investigate.
“Are you afraid of anything?” she asked again. This time they were in Urahara's basement.
“That's none of your business Kurosaki” he said coldly, like he always did. Well at least this time he called her by her name.
After that she stopped asking and stopped thing to talk with him. Somehow it bothered him and he didn't know why.
After that they started to see each other a lot more often when she started to “officially” work for the Seireitei, she wasn't a shinigami, no she didn't want to be one, she was simply someone that the soul society could rely on if they are ever in trouble, like Orihime or Chad. And he was sent there sometimes for training other times to make sure everything was alright, because Karakura was still a common place for hollows to appear and there was no longer a substitute shinigami like Kurosaki Ichigo there to protect it.
All these times that he spend in the human world he started to get know Karin a little better and maybe she could be considered a good friend after all this time. He learned that she was the youngest of all the Kurosaki siblings, he learned that ever since she entered high school she no longer played soccer, he learned that she was strong, stubborn and more mature than the other kids her age. But he still pushed her away when she did her best trying to get to know him.
The next time they had a conversation was when she was 17, this time he was actually the one who started and he realised some noticeable changes in her that bothered him more than they should.
“Good afternoon Kurosaki” he said once he walked out of the gate, into Urahara's shop and she was there sitting on the floor drinking tea while reading a book.
“Good afternoon captain Hitsugaya” she replied without looking a him. It bothered him, first of all she called him by his title, something she never did, not even once during the little time that they had known each other. Secondly she wasn't even looking at him, usually when he visited she'd be the first person to greet him and smile at him (he'd never admit it out loud but he actually loved her smiles and he liked her calling him by his given name).
“What's wrong Kurosaki?” He asked, maybe a little too concerned on his part, considering the fact that they hardly know each other.
“Nothing is wrong, I'm just stressed. Finals are coming up and if I want to get into a good University this is the most important exam of my life. So do you have any business?” She asked.
“Actually I'm on vacation this time” he said. As soon as he said that she got up from the ground.
“Then you should have told me, I wasted all my time coming here thinking that there is trouble” with that she left.
He was confused, he hadn't seen her for 2 years and she changed that much?
“Humans change really fast, she's now a young woman, no longer the child that she used to be. Isn't that right captain?” He turned to look at the ex 12th Captain's words and it hit him hard, Kurosaki Karin was no longer that child he found so annoying back then, this girl, no this woman that he saw was the grown up version of his friend.
Later that week he he was ready to start a real conversation with her that had nothing to do  with business and he found her on top of her roof, she was just sitting there, and she looked beautiful in his eyes, even if she was just wearing pyjamas and her hair was a mess.
“Hey” he said sitting near her
“Ah, hi, Hitsugaya-san, I'm really sorry about the other day that I snapped at you. I really was stressed out with all the exams and all that” she said and he was surprised at her seriousness, usually she was never that serious with him.
“Is fine, don't worry about it. I understand I guess” he was like that too when there was a lot of paperwork.
“Ah good, anyways… is there anything you need? Is the hollows increasing again? I haven't felt anything so far, but maybe that was because my mind really wasn't there. Sorry about that”
“No, I'm on vacation this time” he said.
“Oh I forgot about that, then why are you doing here?”
“There is something I meant to ask”
“Sure”
“Why did you call me captain Hitsugaya? You never did that” when he turned to look at her he could only see the surprise on her face. But she soon composed herself.
She was surprised because she never expected him asking her anything that wasn't work related, back then, she was the one asking none work related questions and he never answered any of them.
“That's because it's the right thing to do, when I was younger I did not have the best manners so I called you by your given name, I'm really sorry if I was rude to you, but it won't  happen again, now that I've grown and realised how rude I was because we are just acquaintances after all, I shouldn't really follow everything that Ichigo did” she said calmly.
Her sentence bothered him a lot, especially the part when she said that they were only acquaintances, he felt disappointed, even hurt.
“Don't worry about it, well I have to go now, see you around Kurosaki" he didn't know why but he just want to get out of there fast, he couldn't understand why his chest was aching.
He decided to ask his lieutenant.
“Captain you are upset because you like Karin-chan, and I mean romantically like Karin-chan, you are sad because to her you are just an acquaintance, while you want your relationship to be something more” Rangiku explained.
“There is no way I could ever involve myself with someone romantically, I'm a captain and I have so many duties” he tried to deny it but it sounded ridiculous even to his own ears.
“Oh that's not an excuse sir, captain Kuchiki was married for many years before his wife died, don't deny your feelings because that doesn't make you strong. Sometimes when you accept your feelings they may be already too late.” She whispered the last part but he heard her anyways.
Well maybe Rangiku did love Gin, but there was nothing that they could do about his death.
He remembered that time she asked what his fears were and one of them was to lose the people he cared for, he couldn't even imagine if he ever lose her, he didn't want to imagine. Maybe this time he was finally ready to answer her questions. He just hoped that it wasn't too late.
“Thanks Matsumoto…” with that he left his office ready to go to the human world again and tell her his answer and feelings.
But he was too late. When he found her by her reiatsu he saw her in the distance, she was walking with someone else, they were holding hands and they were walking really close to each other. He could see that Karin was smiling with that guy and they were laughing, their interaction was nothing like theirs. He decided to follow them but in the end he saw something that he wished he had never seen, Karin was kissing that boy as they arrived at her house.
“I'm too late…” he brought a hand to his face and noticed the wetness on his hand. He wasn't aware that he had been crying this entire time.
When she was 23 he visited once again, this time for a mission and he came with other shinigamis as well, when he saw her for the first time after that last time he couldn't help but think how beautiful she had became.
“Hey Hitsugaya-san” she waved at him when he went pass through the gate.
He waved back “Kurosaki” she still called him by his last name, so formal, so unlike her.
“So is there anything wrong? I heard that you guys were coming.”
“Nothing is wrong, we are here for a check-up” he answered, it was a lie and she knew that.
“Alright them, well if that's all then I won't be needed here” she said rather seriously, he couldn't recognize that tone she used, because he had never seen her so serious before.
He thought about it and maybe it was the right time to tell her about his feelings after so long. Even if she might reject him he just wanted to let her know that. He might never admit it but loving her was one of his biggest fears.
“Wait Kurosaki, can we talk?” He asked and she stopped.
“Sure, what's wrong?”
“It's something… um personal so do you mind coming with me to somewhere else?” He said, he knew that behind him Matsumoto was wishing him the best of luck.
Surprised that Toshiro would act like that, Karin simply nodded “um sure… where would you want to go?”
“The railings”
With that said the two of them walked together toward their destination, it was so awkward.
“You can tell me now whatever you wanted to say” Karin started, trying to break the uncomfortable silence.
“Do you remember that you asked about my fears?” He asked.
Karin thought about it for a second “maybe. I did ask you a lot of questions back then” she didn't really remember that particular question though.
“I fear losing the people I care about.” He answered.
“Don't we all? But I don't understand, why are you telling me this now?” Karin asked both confused and surprised. Surprised because he was kind of opening up to her and confused about why he was doing that.
“You are one of them Karin. I fear losing you. I realised my feelings too late and I've been so afraid to tell you my feelings, I'm in love with you” there he said it, Sand apart from the fear of rejection he felt a lot lighter.
On the other hand Karin laughed, after finally understanding where the conversation was going she realised how silly everything was.
Of all the reactions, he wasn't expecting her to laugh.
“I'm flattered Hitsugaya-san, but do you not see how unrealistic this is? I mean we hardly know each other. How many times have we actually seen each other? I can count the times with my fingers. Not to mention most of the times that we do see each other they are always business related stuff…” she paused and when she started her next sentence, all the humor in her  voice gone, and replaced with a bitter tone. “But you know what? I used to have a crush on you, the time you first saved me from those older kids when you helped me with that game. I really thought you were pretty cool. But of course at that moment I didn't know what a crush was, I didn't know what it was to like someone. But still I wanted to be your friend, so I tried my best, only to realize that you didn't care and you always pushed me away. As I grew older I started to understand more about those feeling and I realised how stupid I had been as a child, I also realised that to you I was only a human, if not just Kurosaki Ichigo's sister, I ended up giving up on you. What I'm trying to say is... you don't have to be afraid of losing me, because I was never yours to begin with, and you were never mind either.” Honestly her words were painful and harsh, but what she said was true. She did try to get closer to him and he had always pushed her away. There was nothing he could say.
“I understand that I have been distant in the past and I'm deeply sorry about that. But to me you aren't just another human, you aren't just Kurosaki Ichigo's sister. You are my friend.” He apologized
Karin sighed  “thank you for telling me that Hitsugaya-san… but…” she didn't want to say anything that would hurt him even if they were true. Her eyes. Looked down at the engagement ring on her finger and he saw it when he saw her touching it.
“I see, I won't be bothering you again then Kurosaki-san” he didn't even leave her time to ask what he meant, he was already gone.
That day she realised that he was gone from her life forever. She didn't do anything because she has already accepted his absence.

Some stupid Ichiruki Squad 13 + Hitsugaya shenanigans I’ve been thinking abt since yesterday night
- Honestly once Ichigo makes VC squad 13 just PWNS paperwork. Rukia’s got so many years of managing paperwork for the entire squad under her belt since even as a VC she was taking on Ukitake’s workload as well, and Ichigo’s a nerd who always hands in his homework on time. Their paperwork is IMPECCABLY neat, alphabetized, colour-coded, and EARLY
- Squad 13 is Nanao’s favourite squad because as VC of the first she has the undesirable job of chasing up everyone’s paperwork and you would NOT believe what a mess the other squads are
- She legit just doesn’t expect anything from 11th. like if they try to hand her paperwork she just turns it down. she’ll do the paperwork for that squad HERSELF at least that way she knows it’s NOT ALL STUCK TOGETHER WITH COTTON CANDY YOU SAVAGES
- Surprisingly, the other squad that’s PARTICULARLY shitty with paperwork is 2nd. You’d think uptight soi-fon would be heinously organized, and she is, but paperwork just doesn’t rank on her list of things to pay attention to (which, fair. I’d be like that too if I headed an assassination corps). She vaguely expects Omaeda to deal with it since that’s what Vice Captains are for, but Omaeda vaguely expects his third seat to deal with it, and so on
- ofc, the reigning champion of paperwork used to be 10th, thanks to Hitsugaya and insomnia, but once Ichigo made VC it was..... game over. Hitsugaya is a perfectionist and also sleepless, but he’s just one kid versus another ice-type perfectionist and a nerd. If anything, Rangiku is a handicap.
- He initially like.... offered Rukia a lot of help during her first few weeks as Captain, esp in regards to paperwork, bc all he really remembers about Ichigo is his fighting style (break everything and then we’ll see) and the fact that he’s Shiba-Taichou’s son, and if he’s anything like Shiba-taichou was then he PITIES Rukia. She has a USELESS vice captain and he knows how that feels so he better give her all the help he can
- and then Nanao announces her new favourites at the next Captain’s meeting and he feels SO BETRAYED
- ???? ????????? ????? Kurosaki???? actually does????? his paperwork???????????
- Life is so unfair why did he get the useless Kurosaki
- Anyway, thanks to being Nanao’s favourite, squad 13 has a much bigger budget than they used to. tbh they need it. Ichigo’s doing kido training and they blow up a training ground every second week
- Also the fact that like... you can tell Ichigo actually respects most of the Captains a fair bit, and despite his appearance he’s actually a pretty polite kid? He’ll affix ‘-san’ to most people’s names, unless 1) he’s fought them (ex. Byakuya, Ikkaku) 2) they’re on no-honorifics terms with someone he’s fought (ex. Yumichika) 3) they’re family or 4) they’re OBVIOUSLY his age or younger. Anyway yes so he’s respectful of the captains, mostly.... except he treats hitsugaya like a literal child about the same age as his sisters and that’s so funny to me
- he doesn’t even call him by his last name he literally calls him toshiro look. look that’s so CUTE
- He’ll call Rangiku ‘Rangiku-san’ but he’ll call her Captain (who Rangiku speaks using formal language to) Toshiro this is so funny to me
- Anyway so yeah I feel like Hitsugaya has........ Grievances against 13 squad ever since Ichigo makes VC. They best him at paperwork, the VC treats him like a kid (he has a conspiracy theory that treating him like a kid is a squad 13 tradition, started by Ukitake)......
- Except he can’t actually, like, outright show his annoyance because Rukia is so polite and formal to him. She still speaks to him with formal language even after her promotion because Rukia’s just Like That
- Except except even THIS is causing him troubles because every time Rukia talks to him like he’s still her superior he can FEEL Kuchiki Bykuya glaring holes into him like ‘she’s the same rank as you now how dare you make her speak with formal language while you still speak to her with informal language. Pick one and stick to it’
- Listen hitsugaya is as happy as the next person that Kurosaki averted the end of the world but he REALLY can’t deal with 13 squad ever since Kurosaki joined. He’s getting a stress migraine.
- that’s it for now but hitsugaya + squad 13 ichiruki is SO cute my heart is crying thinking abt it. Ichigo who treats Hitsugaya like a kid, Rukia who’s respectful to the HILT, and Hitsugaya who is indignant about... everything....... god this is what we DESERVED

Avengers x Bleach X-Over
Ichigo and Toshiro , because a fight with Grimmjaw that breaks the walls between the dimensions, appear in the middle of New York. Happens a few minutes after Loki is caught. Everyone is immedeatly worried that it is one of Lokis guys so the whole team comes to the crash. There are two deep holes beside ech other. One contains the white haired boy (seems around 15 yrs old) and in the other is a orange haired young man(maybe 27 years old). Everybody is able to see them because of an invention of Urahara where a human body immedeatly forms as ssoon as they come into the mortal world. SHIELD immedeatly detains them and putts them in special, for Loki designed cells. Both have to go in on because they only have one of these special cells.
After roughly a mothy, when New York calmed down a bit, they wake up. Fury wants to to talk to them and is very confused when the younger one is the one speaking to him and directing the talk. Fury is very confused by them and and decides on a trial phase where each of the is decided a handler who has to take care of and keep an eye of them. Tony is Ichigos caretaker and Steve is to look after Toshiro. The both of them have to be watched 24/7 so they even have to sleep in the same room. Tony protests but it falls on deaf ears.
In the end it is decided that the two Shinigai even have to sleep in the same room as their caretaker. In the night Tony is plagued by nightmares and starts tossing and crying quietly. Ichigo is wakes up and as the big softie he is deciedes to help Tony. Zangetsu aggrees with and so Ichigo tries to wake him up. When that doesn`t work he lies down next to him and takes him in his arms. When Tony wakes up he immedeatly freaks uout nd tries to get free but Ichigo won´t let him. He calms him down and only when Tony isn´t in danger of a panic attack taht he lets him go.
Steve and Toshiro are alright. Steve is used to the cold and it even calms him down a bit because it is the only thing he knew for a long time.
When their trial phase is over the Tony getts hit by an energy beam in a fight against Loki. Tony looses conscousness and when the others are able to get him out of his suit they notice that the spell transformed his body into his younger self (about 20 yrs old). He still has ll his memories and his arc reactor. Tony immedeatly panics and runns off into his lab and locks it up so nobody can get inside. After almost 2 whole days of working he falls asleep. Ichigo waited for that to happen and carries him into his bedroom to sleep in a real bed.
In the following weeks Tony comes to terms with being in a younger body. Ichigo is even mor protective of him.
One day in a fight agains Doom, Ichigo and Toshiro are watching from the sidelines, he decides to attack the building where the two Shinigami are watching from. It explodes and everybody calls for them to answer the coms as a sign that they are still alive. Tony panics that something happend to Ichigo, who he is very fond of/ has a crush on, and tries to get to them.
When everybody reaches the place the dust decides to settle they see the building in shambles and Ichigo and Toshiro standing infront of it without even a hair out of place. Ichigo just brushes his hair from his eyes and apologises for making them worry but the two of them are completely fine.
When they are back at the tower Fury immedeatly wants to conduct a meeting to talk about what happend but Tony storms away fuming about what Ichigo had done, making him wory like that.
Toshiro `orders` Ichigo to talk to Tony, he will take care of the others and explain everything to them.
Ichigo aggrees and goes downstairs to apologise to him. Tony is trying to work on something else to not tink of Ichigo and how he almost lost him. When Ichig sees how distraught Tony is he feels bad and takes him in his arms and apologises. After a few minutes of holding onto each other they decide to go back upstairs so Tony can attend the meeting and get to know Ichigo and his powers better.

[tw for this solo: swearing  tw for the solos linked below: death, violence, gang] With: Choi Kwak Heeo aka his younger twin sister. [currently npc]
From being on the bottom team the week before to claiming the top spot this week had Minho smack back up to reality. A surge of mixed emotions flaring through him as he stumbles back home that evening. In fact, he doesn’t remember driving back home, trudging to his room and finally ending up in the bathroom under the scorching hot shower, beating against his pale skin.
He blinks furiously, unsure if he was clearing his vision up from the water cascading down his face or from the tears that are unfeelingly rolling down his eyes. Minho was so ecstatic yet he never felt so lonely. It was one thing being surrounded by the same people celebrating one’s joint victory, it was another scene entirely going back home to an empty house with no-one to talk to about this rollercoaster ride. God, he misses his sister so much.
Scrubbing the tiredness and exhaustion away, he quickly dries up, putting on his pjs before falling face first into his bed. Somehow the regret from the decision to live alone, away from his grandparents and his dad, comes rushing into his system. The dancer never thought he’d ever feel this way, especially towards the family that was barely.. well a family. He had just about stopped crying when he got out of the shower, and the urge to do so again annoyingly takes over his fatigue state.
The rapper takes calm breaths, trying to put himself into a trance and unsuccessfully replaying the last few weeks inside his head. He was riding the wave of the first eliminations, feeling terrible of Wonshik getting cut only to have Seola break down on him a few days later before his thought process was cut abruptly by the blaring of his phone. If he hadn’t given her a specific ringtone, Minho wouldn’t have even bothered moving to get his phone out of his discarded jean pockets.
“What’s up asshole?” Her voice radiating of glee and smugness. “Saw your ugly mug on the screen again, Hiro. Trying to look all cool and shit, tsk. These people don’t know you snore so loud you could bring down the house. Not to mention your fart—“
“Shut up, Mori.” He finally breaks Heeo’s obnoxious ranting, chucking sardonically at her words. “We both know you called me because you wanna congratulate me, you little shit. So do it and get it over with.” His winces at the way his voice sounded harsher than he intended it to be.
“Ay fucker, what’s wrong?” She whispers, annoyance and concern so loudly heard in her voice. “Don’t you dare gimme some bullshit nothing answer too. Or I’ll stick Dahye on you.”
He laughs out loud because everyone and their mother knows that Dayhe can whoop his ass into just about anything. “Fuck it, I’ll just hide behind Johnny then.” He manages to mumble out between his laughter.
“Your dumbass laugh sounds like a hyena. Stop it and start talking.”
Minho manages to calm down for a few minutes later, feeling the adrenaline slowly sipping off him as he finally relaxes into a conversation with his twin. “How’d you deal with this shit last time Mori? Like fuck, Johnny just wanted to see if I can get my shit together long enough to do an audition... now, this. Satan’s ass, man. Last week was so intense, we had to do so many things in one week and the week before that… Heeo…” He gasped, trying to calm his spiking nerves. Apparently, once he starts talking he never shuts up. “The week before that… we lost someone through eliminations; Woshik-sii… Fucking hell, Heeo. You didn’t see it, cause they didn’t fucking air it, but Seola-sii had a break down because of that and Goddammit now they just tossing us up into another team again and expect us to act like we’re some expert shit… This is so fucked up.”
There was a brief moment of silence.
“Are you done?” He hears his sister say, her voice sounding angry for some reason. So he remains quiet, waiting to listen to what she’s about to say next. “Because you’re being a such a fucking drama queen, Toshiro.”
He flinches when he hears her use his full Japanese name. “What the actual shit?”
“Now you shut up you overgrown man-child. We’ve both been through hell and back, fuck it we’ve been dragged around Lucifer’s pit through the last year and survived. This shit should be a bloody breeze for you. When the netizens found out about what happened to our stepda— to him, they ripped me apart, Hiro. When you got shot last December, did you fucking die? No. You picked your sorry ass back up and literally moved on. Because that’s what we do. That’s who we are.” Then suddenly just like that, a tired sigh escapes her lips. “Because that’s what we do Ni-chan. We survive…”
The silence between them was both deafening and comforting, it was a splash of cold water and a warm reminder from a loved one, all at once. He takes a moment, he lets this all sink in and he snorts when he realises that she’s absolutely right. He was being a big ass drama queen. “Seoul’s got me going crazy again, hasn’t it, Mori?”
“Yeah, if I didn’t know any better, it’s got you going dumb too.” It was her turn to let out an unladylike sound.
“Now you’re just being a little exaggerating shit.
Just like that, they banter normal siblings once again. Heeo updates him on how the university is going for her, the friends she’s met and the guy she’s interested in. The latter had him rolling his eyes, but he encouraged her to talk nonetheless. On his part, he tells her about everyone they know, his apology to Yooa, how Johnny now has a princess and keeping her updated with the latest who’s whats and whens with their people.
He stifles a yawn after a while, only realising how late into the night they’ve been talking to. She must have noticed as she said, “Get some rest, Hiro. You’ve got a busy week ahead of you.”
“Eeck—Mhmm, use protection-“
“I hate you. Goodnight asshole…oh and congratulations Ni-chan. Ja ne”
“Your emotions are gross…but thanks for kicking my ass. Ja” He mumbles, before hanging up the phone.
Then for the first time since in a very long while, Minho finally gets a good night rest. With his sister’s words echoing through his subconscious, a constant reminder that no matter what shit happens now, he’ll make something out of it. Because that’s what they do. They survive.

BLEACH: The Thousand Year Blood War Ep 11 Reactions and Thoughts
Overall reaction:
Tumblr media
We're finally here! Everything but the Rain. This week we have the return of the fathers, the sons (and sun), and some ghosts from the past. Unlike last week's epic battle, this one goes for of an atmospheric approach, with beautifully animated rain and action, darker colours, and a first meeting that almost belongs in a shoujo series. I don't have too much to say for this one, but I still thought I'd give me two cents about it.
Highlights:
OG Tenth division - aka, the return of the son: I was looking forward to this one, and it certainly delivered. I couldn't stop grinning throughout, starting with Rangiku's appearance all the way to Isshin's exit to the World of the Living. I would've liked to see Isshin's more goofy face when lifting Toshiro, but honestly, that proud, happy smile he gives him is pretty wholesome. Seeing Toshiro act like such a brat had me cackling (out future Tenth Division captain ladies and gentlemen), and Rangiku being the one that's holding all of this division together somehow, she's a champ. If nothing else, it's now thanks to this scene Tumblr has been flooded with gif of younger Toshiro, so there's that!
Gin and Tosen: I didn't expect to react the way I did seeing these two again. They're ghosts from BLEACH past, and I've come to like them for different reasons since the series ended. When they appeared, I clapped and couldn't stop smiling. It was good to see them again for sure!
Isshin and Masaki vs White: I loved how the setting for the fight was animated, with darker colours lit by streetlights and the rain being central. It gave the fight an atmospheric feel, both somber and grounded, it's hard to describe. Isshin's powers looked awesome, and Masaki got to show off too:

And then there's their meeting afterwards. I remember not thinking too much of it in the manga, but here, there's just something charming and sweet about it, like something out of a shoujo anime. My only critique, and it's an absolute nitpick, is that because there was so much detail in this scene, the blood on Isshin looked flat and was a little distracting.
The ending: now that's a good way to end the episode. Again, I love that they've included more content for Uryu, and seeing that moment he stands out in the rain and looks up to see Jugram, I got shivers. Again, they went for atmosphere here, and the lack of dialogue really sold the foreboding feeling this moment gave off.
We've also got more cut content, this time with Isshin comment on Rangiku's, uh, assets. It's interesting what fan service they're choosing to exclude, and it makes me wonder how they'll approach other fan service scenes (if they even include them in the first place). I admit, part of the reason I thought they went for a later time slot was to not only allow for more graphic violence, but also to keep more fan service (just look at what they did with Sui Feng's uniform in the first preview trailer, they ditched the white cloth she used to wear beneath on her chest), so this is surprising to me.
Overall, another solid episode to add to a so far amazing adaption. Final [joint] episode next week! We'll be getting the conclusion of the mini arc and, if the poster is any indication, Ichigo confronting Zangetsu and getting his two blades. I'm not ready for this part of the adaption to end!!

JUST A STUPID LETTER...
hello, I’m new to this. And this is my first time posting fan fics on tumblr. So… anyways. Since this is my first time, I want to try every prompt I can for hitsukarinweek2017. First prompt of the week “mysterious letter in the locker
Summary: she doesn’t like the typical romantic stuff other girls like. But when she saw the letter in her locker, her opinion might be changed. Pairing: hitsukarin Other characters: Yuzu, Rukia.
“Karin-chan look there is an envelope in your locker!” she heard the sweet voice of Yuzu who called her. She turned around to face her twin.
“yeah and what about it? Is just an envelope, is no big of a deal” she replied casually.
“of course it is a big of a deal! Have you even read it?” Yuzu insisted. She was the type of girl who love this kind of stuff, apparently to her a letter in the locker means that a boy just confessed to you. Of course Karin said to her twin every time she talk about that with her friends “oh give that up! We are living in the real world, you know that kind of shit only happen in those stupid romantic dramas or those anime you watch. Besides if the boy is so cool he could have confess it to my face” she always says that and Yuzu never listened to her.
“is there a need to?” Karin asked annoyed
“but Karin-chan I’m curious!”
“if you are so curious about it then why not just open it yourself.”
“because I want to ask your permission this letter is for you after all.” it was a plain white envelope with a Kurosaki Karin written in beautiful handwriting.
The black haired Kurosaki sighed “you should have known that I don’t care about this stuff. If you so desperate to know what’s inside then just open it I want to have my peaceful lunch time thank you very much” she said.
After that Karin watched Yuzu and the other girls teared the envelope like they were wild animals eating their prey. Karin rolled her eyes.
One of their friends took out the paper and started to read.
“dear Kurosaki Karin. You may not know which I am now, but I assure you we’ve talked back in our first year of high school till now, from that that moment I have fall in love with you.
You were different from all the other girls I know. Your are carefree, independent, you act like who you are, you are honest, you don’t care about your appearance and mostly you are definitely not annoying like a lots of other girls in this school. And your eyes, I think your eyes are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. That’s why I’m attracted to you, please Karin if only you knew how I feel about you. I’d be the happiest man  in the universe.
Truthfully yours.
Your mysterious admire.” the girl finished it.
“oh my god! That’s so romantic Karin-chan!” Yuzu said.
“who do you think it’s from?” another asked.
“Karin are you going to find out who your mysterious admire is?”
Karin just laughed “I don’t know and I don’t care. I’m sure is just a joke, well I’m finished. I’ll see you later right now I have kendo practice.” the black haired girl got up from the table leaving the empty bento box on the table then left with her bag.
When she arrived only two of the members had arrived “hey Ikkaku, Yumichika, how’s going?” she waved at them. Those two were in her brother’s class. They were all last years
“Kurosaki, is good to see you here, we are fine, how about you?” the bald one asked.
“nothing much Yuzu and the girls found a love letter in my locker, I thought it was a joke so I told them that I don’t care, other than that life is boring” she said.
“really a love letter for you? Who could that idiot be?” Ikkaku laughed
“what is that supposed to mean?” she said pointing her wooden sword at the older student.
“oh no is nothing Kurosaki, I didn’t say anything.” sweet was already running down his bald head.
“so where us the others? I need to go later to the soccer club, as their vice captain I’m needed” she asked.
“I don’t know, but if you are in a hurry we could always tell you the news later.” Yumichika said.
“oh that’s a great idea, I’m counting on you guys to tell me if something is going on” after that she run off again the time to the soccer field where the captain and the members were already there.
“Kurosaki why are you late?” the captain asked. Hitsugaya Toshiro was his name. Loved by all and hated by her, they are from the same grade and class. They didn’t really get along very well but had to work together as the team needs their captain and vice captain.
“sorry but I had to go to the kendo club first. If you are done talking then shall we start today’s training?” she said.
“of course.”
Soon the lunch break ended and everyone had to get back. Karin walked into the school building with some of her brother’s friends and the others from the team. She told them of the letter, that she got a love letter from someone.
“really Karin who do you think it is?” Renji asked.
“that’s right, tell us who have the balls to write you” another one said.
Karin laughed “come on guys, don’t be annoying. The person didn’t revel his name so I don’t know, but I don’t really care either you know, it just have to be joke!” she laughed.
Toshiro suddenly left them behind and he run into the school building.
“Hitsugaya?!” Hisagi shouted after their captain.
“what’s wrong with him?”Renji asked
“don’t know…” Karin said.
Later in class, she looked at the letter once again, the hand writing truly was great, and it was clean.
Just who could write something like this? “Even if it is a joke I want to find that person and beat him to the hospital for doing something so stupid for me.” She thought.
She sighed and looked at the window. Instead of paying attention to the teacher. Their sensei was putting the students into pairs for some project so she didn’t care much. Her partner whoever they are will tell her everything.
“Kurosaki!” a deep voice woke her up from her thoughts. Was it her or that Hitsugaya Toshiro was somehow colder than usual? Her head must have gone insane.
“what?” she asked.
“we have to work the project together” he said.
“oh, then what do we have to do?” why does it have to be him?
“Kurosaki, were you listening to any of the teacher’s explanations?” he frowned.
“no, so tell me. And stop calling me Kurosaki, my name is Karin!”
“whatever…” after he explained it to her they started to work in silence. But Karin noticed something.
Toshiro’s handwriting. It was just like the one on the letter.
Reality hit her hard, and she realised that this secret admire might be Hitsugaya all along. But what the fuck? Everything just exploded in her head. "Look Karin, whatever this means, don’t panic, think, use your brain, think!“ She thought. She had to admit to herself that Toshiro is in fact attractive, and in some ways he has a nice heart.
She took out her phone and send Rukia a message, Kuchiki Rukia, her brother’s best friend and a great friend of hers as well. Normally shed always go to her when she had problems.
“are you free to finish the project this afternoon?” he asked.
“um… no I’m sorry but I have to meet my brother’s friend Rukia, you know her right?” she didn’t even know why she was telling him all that.
He nodded.
The rest of school took extremely long in Karin’s opinion, because her mind simply choose to betray her and think of things she didn’t want to think like having Hitsugaya as a boyfriend or kissing him. "What’s wrong with me?”
So without even telling her twin and other friends she run out of the school gate to the cafe she and Rukia had decided to meet after the younger girl finishes her classes.
“so what’s wrong Karin-chan?” the older girl asked.
“well you see…” like that she explained everything to Rukia. But leaving out the detail that she already knew who the mystery admire is or at least she think she did.
“so this mysterious boy confessed to you and you don’t know what do. And you have an idea who the person is?” Rukia repeated everything slowing and carefully. Karin nodded and showed her that letter.
“well in that case I think you should go and talk with that person. From this letter I don’t think this is a joke. This guy, he seems serious about you” she said.
“but how can it not be a joke? I mean he's… he’s I don’t know him, and I just can’t imagine he of all people should write me this,  And I don’t think he’d joke around like this either. Is just crazy I guess” she said.
“I know Karin-chan, I know. But why not just give him a chance? After reading this I think he’s a really nice guy, from the way he writes and his handwriting.”
Karin sighed “ok thanks Rukia, I’ll think about it then.”
The next day during all morning she wondered about what she’d say to him and the guy in question had been avoiding her too, only to make the things even more complicated.
But at the lunch break she saw him eating alone below his usual tree ignoring the others like always, so she walked toward him to face the little thing that had been bothering her.
“Toshiro… um could we talk?” she asked.
The boy looked up to see her and his eyes widened for a second before they were back to their usual size, those beautiful eyes of his always made her feel weird.
“what is it Kurosaki?” he asked coldly like always.
“In private” she added, then he got up and they walked to the back side of the school.
“did you write this?” she asked holding the letter to let him see.
“yes but it doesn’t matter anymore now, if that’s what you want to say than just leave me alone” he said, and she noticed the unwanted pain in his voice.
“no! Not until you answer me why. Why me I am just a normal girl, I simply wanted a normal life without so much drama in my life but why did you have to like me of all people? Why can’t you like someone like my sister Yuzu, she’s better than me in almost everything.”
“because that wouldn’t be you anymore, I only like you because you are not like them, is just what I said in the letter, you are you. Can’t you see it? I never hated you, now that you know will you just leave me alone? I know you don’t take this seriously so” he was cut off by she kissing him.
After a while he responded but due to their need for air they had to break away.
“you are an idiot Toshiro. You are truly an idiot” she sighed. “I may not love you like I would like to, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like you. What you said there is the best thing someone had ever said to me. So for that, I’d like to give you a chance, but…” she added and punched his face not to the level that would serious hurt him but to make him uncomfortable.
“hey what was that for?” Toshiro asked holding his face.
“for writing that stupid letter instead of telling it to me in person you idiot! Is all your fault that now Yuzu will insist tv dramas are in real life too.” she yelled but he only laughed.
“Kurosaki Karin, you really are something you know that?” Toshiro smiled.
The girl smirked “yeah of course I know that, now shut up and kiss me”
