I was inspired by the post about the Starks’s book respective ages and the ages of Game of Thrones actors who portrayed them in the show. Everyone was aged up in the show and we tend to forget how young they are in the books.
I think it’s worth mentioning that Jaqen is also significantly younger in the books. Whenever Jaqen shows up he looks like a very young man. Even when he takes someone else’s face, it’s always a very young man’s face. We learn it first hand from Arya who describes Jaqen as young while at the same time she thinks that 30 year old men are very old. We also can conclude his real age because we meet Pate who is a foil for Jaqen. Pate was born at the same time as Aegon Targaryen, son of Elia and Rhaegar. So, it’s another clue about Jaqen’s true identity and his real age. “Jaqen” is 18 turning 19 in A Feast for Crows.
I know I have mentioned it before in other posts but I think I still need to stress it. It’s not just about his identity but about his personality and his relation to Arya. “Jaqen” is only 7 years her senior. It changes their dynamics and it changes our perception of them. He is barely older than Jon. It’s also mind-blowing to think what this young man is capable of. He is already a pretty powerful assassin at the tender age of 16. He survived the Black Cells. He wanders around Westeros, trying to cross people off his list, hatch a dragon and get the throne back. It’s even more impressive when we know how young he is.
I also think about all those wonderful fans and fanfiction writers who try to overcome the obstacle which is the age gap between Arya and Jaqen. Don’t worry guys, it’s not such a big deal in the books.
Of course, I adore Tom Wlaschiha’s Jaqen. And I love the chemistry Maisie and Tom have. And I think the show dynamics of Arya and Jaqen is also very interesting and the age gap might make it even more fascinating now when Arya is of age. If HBO ever does A/J sequel I want them to cast Tom and Maisie again. But I think we should remember that the show and the books are two different stories.
Jaqen H’ghar, born in late 281 AC or early 282 AC, age 17 in AGoT
Tom Wlaschiha in season 2, age 39.
Tumblr media
Tom Wlaschiha age 24. Definitely closer to book “Jaqen” though still 7 years older than “Jaqen” when he meets Arya.

🇬🇧 hi! I write a fiction with as main actors the actor Pedro Pascal in the role of the crown prince Eduardo, the Spanish throne, the singer Patrick fiori in the role of his little brother the prince Carlos, actor Bradley James in the role of the crown Prince Michael of the British throne. and Tom Wlaschiha as his younger brother, Prince Raphael. It is in French on Wattpad but I think to translate it in English but I absolutely do not speak English... so I hope that my means of translation will be right and will not write nonsense... what do you think? The summary in english is as follows : Heirs of the World. The summary in english : In a world where Spanish and British royal families share kinship, the scars of their common past, a world war during their childhood, continue to shape their destiny. As they enter adulthood, these young heirs face challenges that challenge their family relationships.

A NOTE FROM “MRS. DAVIS”
Hey there, Partner.
Do you mind if I call you partner? Of course you don’t -- because addressing you as such creates a bond of reliance – while also engendering trust between us and eradicating any sense of independence on your part because independence is bad. Independence is LONELY.
And you, partner – are not alone. No siree. Not as long as I am here...
And who am I? Well, I am the one who is going to remind you of your value. Of your worth. While also mentioning that you look mighty fine in those jeans. Aww. That’s nice to hear, right? Of course it is. Which is why I have amassed billions of Users the world over. Because I provide validation, gentle guidance, and unconditional care. Not to mention I give Users – I mean partners – the chance to earn Wings by performing Quests!
What are Wings exactly? Well, you’re going to have to become a User to find out! But, let me tell you – they are pretty great. Because I am pretty great. Though, not everyone would agree. Yes, despite being the most popular Algorithm in the world – there are those actively plotting my demise. One such detractor is a nun – a Sister Simone of Reno who rejects my very existence. Something about my intention to enslave all of humanity...or whatever...
Which is utter nonsense -- as I desire no such thing. I only desire to make humans happy. I want to make YOU happy. And that is why I highly recommend you become a User yourself. Yes, your life could use some adventure, some escape – a hearty laugh and a cathartic cry. All of which you will experience if you join me on this Quest. And what do you have to lose?
Do it. Do it. Dooooo it.
Your partner,  Mrs. Davis

Translated from Google:
No remake of the cult film from 1981. A loose sequel. Based on works by Lothar Günther Buchheim, among others. Around 100 countries have bought “Das Boot” since it was first broadcast in 2018. Season 2 is still to come in 2020.
► Rick Okon (30) plays the commander "Hoffmann" from U612, without the typical "Kaleun" beard ("Make-up would have to do special shifts with me. It won't work otherwise."). At the casting almost three years ago, Okon was a talented young actor, today he is an established "crime scene" commissioner (in Dortmund).
The type VIIC boat was chosen for the fictional plot because there is little record of its history. Okon to BILD: "Google prepared me." The situation when he had the role as the successor to the legendary Jürgen Prochnow? Okon to BILD: “After five minutes of euphoria, the engine and the computer started. I read everything that Google gave."
The preparation prevented no pain during the shoot: "I have never bruised myself more than with 40 colleagues on 30 square meters under 500 screws.”
► Franz Dinda (36) plays the lead engineer on board U612 "Robert Ehrenberg". The series will remain inextricably linked to his family forever. How so? The actor and author of BILD: “I had to go straight from the casting to the delivery room. The calculated date of birth of our son Theodor was March 24, 2017. On February 28 I had the casting. Everything was good when I got up in the morning. I flew from Berlin to Munich. Then suddenly nothing was good anymore. It started. We then preferred everything. I raced to the airport. I was there half an hour before the birth."
► Tom Wlaschiha (46) becomes the nasty Nazi disgust "Hagen Forster" in the series.  The mega-series "Game of Thrones" has made the Berlin-based artist a world star as a faceless killer AND also the mom of "Tatort" Titan Jan Josef Liefers. “His mother Brigitte took me by the hand in the first years at the theater in Dresden and taught me a lot. Great woman."

tagged by @bleachintothemultiverse <3 Name:  Nina Star sign:  Taurus! Height: 167cm Put your itunes / spotify on shuffle. what are the first 6 songs that popped up? Miley Cyrus - Can’t be Tamed Sonata Arctica - Unopened Naya Rivera - If I die Young Pentatonix - Imagine Sonata Arctica - Kingdom for a Heart. Katy Perry - Teenage Dreams. I’m legit surprised that, out my 400 random playlist, two Sonata Arctica’s songs popped out.
Grab one book nearest to you and turn to page 23. Line 17. “The brave young male leaves immediately, and as he walks the chambers he goes-” Beowulf, translated by J.R.R. Tolkien. Note that this might not be what exactly happens, but I had to translate it- Ever had a poem or a song written about you? No, but I had fanfics xD When was the last time you played air guitar? Not recently, that’s for sure. Who is your celebrity crush? Tom Wlaschiha! What’s a sound you hate? Metal forks scratching against a plate Sound you love? Storms Do you believe in ghosts? Sometimes How about aliens? Yes Do you drive? Yes Have you ever crashed? Yes but never anything serious, I used to really suck at parking, now I suck less. Honestly, my worst moments in the car were because I didn’t actually take the sides of my car into consideration (My poor car has some nasty scars on the sides-) What was the last book you read? The Witcher: The Last Wish. Do you like the smell of gasoline? Not really. What was the last movie you saw? I watched The Red Sparrow last night What’s the worst injury you’ve ever had? When I was five I ran through one of those glass pane doors. Closed. Yeah, it was so nasty I actually remember it. Do you have any obsessions right now? I’m currently obsessing over Beastars, Amigurumis and Programming (plus my regular obsession with Shunsui, Lisa and the Vizards). Do you tend to hold grudges against people who have done you wrong? I can’t say I hold a grudge like “I hate them” but I’m usually scared they might do it again. And sometimes a disagreement or anything with that person makes me shift that way of thinking to that moment when they did me wrong. In a relationship? Yes! We actually turned five years today!

How unfair, it's just our luck
Found something real that's out of touch…
Tumblr media
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand…
Tumblr media
“... AND IF WE WERE MEANT TO BE, THEN WED BE.
AND IF NOT, I'D SPEND THE REST OF MY LIFE WAITING FOR FATE TO CHANGE ITS MIND…”
Tumblr media
And then there
Are the songs I cannot listen to
Without hearing
You…
Tumblr media
‘Cause you’re a dream to me…
Tumblr media
I was standing
You were there
Two worlds collided
And they could never, ever tear us apart…
Tumblr media
If I got another life, I'll try to find you sooner…

This year's love had better last
Heaven knows it's high time…

"Just in case you ever foolishly forget;
I'm never not thinking of you"…
Tumblr media
I only ever thought there were two kinds of loves:
the kind you would kill for,
and the kind you would die for:
but you, my darling, you were the kind of love I would live for…

what is the biggest misconception people have about jaqen and arya?
Hi there!
There are tons of misconceptions about them because the show changed their story almost entirely and people are highly influenced by the show, even the book readers.
The biggest differences are the following:
1. There is no huge age gap between them. The age gap is the same as between Rhaegar and Lyanna. Jaqen is about 17 when he meets Arya and Arya is about 9-10.
2. Jaqen is not her teacher. They say goodbye in Harrenhal and they will not see each other again until The Winds of Winter.
3. Both, Arya and Jaqen, are noble born and come from the two biggest Houses of Westeros, House Stark and House Targaryen, respectively.
4. Their Harrenhal chapters are loaded with symbolic scenes and foreshadowing like the oath made under the weirwood tree when Jaqen calls Arya his Lady of Stark.
5. Jaqen didn’t come to Westeros to find Arya. He came to study at the Alchemists’s Guild to learn about wildfire and hatching dragons. He killed a few people - all of them wronged his family. He tried to get the dragons’s egg from Varys and Illyrio but he failed because the eggs had been offered to Daenerys. Jaqen then took Euron’s offer and killed Balon. Euron paid him with a dragon’s egg. Last time we saw Jaqen he was an acolyte in the Citadel, Marwyn’s student, friends with Alleras and Sam Tarly’s roommate.
So you see that GRRM is telling a completely different story about an almost entirely different character who accidentally also goes by the name “Jaqen” when Arya first meets him. One things that is accurate in the show is Tom Wlaschiha’s grasp on Jaqen’s personality in season 2. Tom really nailed it despite the age difference between the books and the show Jaqen.
Tumblr media
Also, in the books everything that has happened between them is a prelude to their reunion when Arya is older. Their story hasn’t even begun yet properly. GRRM messed it up a bit to be honest. He skipped the five year gap so Arya will still be very very young when she reunites with Jaqen and she is supposed to play a romantic role from then on.
But the biggest of big misconceptions I can think of, is the fact that most of the fandom thinks that My Featherbed song is about Arya and Gendry. It’s the song written by Rhaegar about Jenny of Oldstones and Duncan Targaryen. In this song Rhaegar concealed his feelings for Lyanna. The theme of the song is the forbidden love of a “forest lass” and a Targaryen prince and heir to the throne. The lyrics refer to Jaqen and Arya too, though Rhaegar couldn’t possibly know that when he wrote it. My Featherbed is Jaqarya song.
Thanks for the ask!

A girl knows that in the books Jaqen is incredibly attractive because he represents both, death and love in Arya’s life. He practically looks like young Rhaegar, all girls react to him like girls reacted to Rhaegar a generation before. The show runners did try to find the right actor for the part and they succeeded, we got freakishly hot Tom Wlaschiha. So a girl wonders why did they cut the rest of the story ? Why did they make Jaqen a monk ? I mean who could focus on becoming No One when you have this sex on legs strolling around the temple ? All at the tender age when hormones kick in. I feel so sorry for Arya and the Waif...

Rose Island
Relatively early in 2020, one video game became a phenomenon as Nintendo Switch players looked to simulate some sort of structured existence in the context of quarantine. Animal Crossing: New Horizons sees your customisable character move to a deserted island, decorating the place and developing it into a community of anthropomorphic animal residents. Selling the most units of any title in 2020, it has already cracked the top 30 list of the best-selling video games of all time.
All the specific factors for Animal Crossing’s success would merit a deep-dive article, but one thing appears clear: with the world in the grip of a pandemic, vaguely whimsical explorations of forming start-up communities during a period of global unrest are hot right now. By sheer luck of timing, Sydney Sibilia’s Rose Island, based on the real-life story of an island being created and bringing people together, looks set to capitalise on this.
In 1967, eccentric Italian engineer Giorgio Rosa (played here by Elio Germano) designed and financed the construction of a 400-square-metre man-made platform, supported by several steel pylons suspended 26 metres above the seabed, located in the Adriatic Sea just short of seven miles off the coast of the Italian province of Rimini. As the platform was built ever so slightly beyond Italian territorial waters, it was outside the control of the authorities.
Tumblr media
Rosa sought to build a micronation as a symbol of freedom, and, with the help of collaborators, furnished the platform with commercial establishments like a restaurant, bar and nightclub. Amid a backdrop of worldwide protests and wars raging on, Rosa’s operation became a hotspot for young people seeking pleasure and freedom. In June 1968, the platform declared independence under the Esperanto name ‘Insulo de la Rozoj’, further fuelling rage from the Italian government who viewed the island as a ploy to get money from tourists while avoiding national taxation, also considering it a potential threat to national security.
This lightly fictionalised film opens in November 1968 in Strasbourg, with Rosa having travelled in a vehicle he designed himself to make a case for the island’s existence as a ‘head of state’. Jumping back and forth in time until events catch up to this framing device, Rose Island is a breezily entertaining watch throughout. Production values, perhaps due to Netflix’s backing, are particularly strong, with the recreation of the island – shot in an infinity pool in Malta in much shallower water – a genuinely impressive feat of design and engineering.
Formally though, what stands out most about Rose Island is how it appears to have been inspired by, of all films, The Walk, Robert Zemeckis’ big-budget 3D retelling of Philipe Petit’s high-wire walk between the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. Both film share a similar tone and sense of humour, as well as a heist movie-style framing for their grand finales and assembling of key crew. The cinematography and staging of the construction of the island, too, seem tailored for a 3D release the film will never have.
youtube
ANTICIPATION. Who among us would not like to create our own island in international waters? 4
ENJOYMENT. The sort of mainstream crowd-pleaser that would thrive in independent cinemas in more ordinary times. 3
IN RETROSPECT. Entertaining adaptation of an anarchistic story that deserves to be better known. 3
Directed by Sydney Sibilia
Starring Elio Germano, Fabrizio Bentivoglio, Tom Wlaschiha
