Riva there is never something as too much curry (I say as I have over 3 kilograms of various curries in my fridge)
Three kilograms! :0 I guess there isn’t too much per se, right now I just don’t like the outlook of eating the same thing for three days straight lol.
But today we had it with rice so I might make some quick bread tomorrow and have it with that for a little variety.

something very heinous about queer people finally finding a real community of other queer people in the fandoms of tv shows only for the networks to notice and start increasingly cancelling all of them

this was too speculative to add even to the tags of the previous post but the image of a student not knowing what film was made me think about literacy and specifically about the trend to fill classroom libraries with books as contemporary as possible because the assumption is students like those better because they’re more relatable but i have a hypothesis that students often dislike older books because they are harder to read (both because children’s literature has gotten easier to read over time - i read an article that claimed this but am too lazy to track it down - and because if your reading skills are shaky it’s easier to read something where the vocabulary is familiar so you know more words and also where the situations are familiar or potentially familiar so the story you make up in your head while your eyes go across the page, if you’re one of those students, is easier to make up in your head), but i feel like a lot of ambient background knowledge i have around the world comes from reading older books and being like “huh i guess this is how things were.” but then again i had an unusual reading profile and one thing i have learned tutoring is that it is so much harder to get students to be like “oh i guess this must be the case in this portion of text, didn’t know that was a thing before” than i would have thought. so idk.

im so done with seeing articles about kids and screen time that doesnt mention parent behaviors even once. “kids are always on their phones” so are the parents! which the kids look to for how they should behave! ipad babies didn’t chose to only play on their ipads, thats what their parents gave them!
an anecdotal example: when i was a kid, all my parents would do in their minimal free time was watch tv and then they would be surprised when in my sister and i’s minimal free time we would also only watch tv/play video games. they scolded us for not reading books, but they never read books. they scolded us for not going outside but they never went outside.
“kids are always on their damn phones” my mom is in her 60s and opens up candy crush anytime she’s sitting — it isnt just the kids

the amount of ways we have to qualify the geoncide in gaza in order to get people to care is actually sickening to me. “it’s a feminist issue!” “it’s a disabilities issue!” “it’s an environmental issue!” like i’m sorry but even if this was happening solely to able bodied men and was causing no harm to the environment, it would still be wrong because it’s a genocide and these people are being bombed and killed and starved every fucking day. you shouldn’t need an extra label to give you a reason to care about people that are dying.

frankly, the people whose kneejerk reaction to bisan asking for a global strike form the 21st-28th is to say that it takes years to organize a general strike are really unhelpful! no one is saying otherwise, but palestine will be a smoking crater if we all wait for years to do anything - bisan is asking us to do something now. Like are we only supposed to do something if we can do it perfectly??? At some point it’s a valid critique about the work that goes into social movement, and at another point I feel like some people are just trying to absolve themselves from not putting any effort into observing a week of economic inaction.
like idk! I get it, okay! People have bills to pay that don’t magically go away for a strike, we don’t have nearly enough social infrastructure in place to support people to fully stop going to work for a week. But fuck, dude! Stop immediately responding in such a defeatist way! Cut out unnecessary purchases! Try to shop local! Put more effort into promoting Palestinian voices online! Attend a protest, call a local rep, do something!

i hate that every time i look for color studies and tips to improve my art and make it more dynamic and interesting all that comes up are rudimentary explanations of the color wheel that explain it to me like im in 1st grade and just now discovering my primary colors
