u mentioned in the tags of one of ur posts that u couldn't find a comic so you payed for it, so here's a tip: readcomiconline.li has pretty much all comics in history LOL! new chapters are uploaded with like, 16 hour delays at most :)

I actually always read new releases from there haha. The only reason I paid this time was cause I’m still waiting on my physical copy and that particular issue wasn’t up for about 2 days (I have 0 patience lol).

But thank you! And for anyone else who wants to read comics but doesn’t know how to find them for free, in my experience that website will pop up if you google “<comic name> <issue number> read online”. They have (I think) every & any comic that isn’t a current current new release (and even those typically get uploaded after at most a few days of the official release date, like op said). It’s a really good source, especially for people who are new to comics who maybe want to start with older runs.

Every summer, Bruce would have the field behind Wayne Manor cleaned, trimmed, and tended to. The grass would be cut, the trees would be cleaned up, and overall, the field was maintained. Bruce even added a man-made stream to divide the field in half. 

There was reasoning as to why this said field was properly maintained, and so much effort was put into it. This reasoning was the Wayne’s Summer Fun! (At least, that is what you called it)

Every Summer, your family would choose one day out of the week to camp, cook out, and stay in the field to play games all week long. 

Bruce and the boys gave up their vigilante antics for the week so you could spend quality time together. Plus, you just wanted the boys to feel like they had a good childhood, and it wasn’t just full of training and fighting criminals once the sun went down.

It was the end of the week and tomorrow the boys would go back to their normal schedule, and you and Bruce would go back to work. Every year, you would end “The Wayne’s Summer Fun” with a game of capture the flag. The boys loved it, and every year, you would switch up team members so the games would stay interesting. 

And every year, one of the teams would receive a trophy, that was normally given to the winner of monopoly, and every year, someone would end up in a fight. (But that story has already been told: click here to read).

This year, your team consisted of Bruce and Damian. Jason, Dick, and Tim were the blue team, and your team was the red team. Alfred was merely just the mediator, and he would sit in a deer stand that Bruce had built just for the purpose of this game. 

Alfred always explained the game, even though everyone knew how to play. “Each team has a flag and will hide it at eye level, but not in direct site. Each team needs to have an offense and a defense, and a spot they call jail.” he said, and he cleared his throat. “Switch offense and defense often. Those who are in offense will go and try to capture the other team’s flag and take it back to their side of the field. Those in defense, will capture those who try to take the flag and put them in jail.”

Jason sighed, “Alfred, we know-”

Alfred spoke over Jason, “HOWEVER, players of the team that has captured members, can retrieve their partners from the jail and take them back to their base. As always, protect your flags! The first team to retrieve a flag and get it to their home base, will receive this, trophy.” Alfred smiled as he held the gold trophy in his hand.

Each side had an equivalent number of trees, and you, Bruce, and Damian took off running towards your home base. Damian held the flag, “Okay, between these trees will be perfect. The bushes cover it, and its eye level, so technically we are not breaking any rules.”

You and Bruce looked over at each other, “Sounds good to me. Now, Damian and I will obviously be offense and you be defense.” Bruce said, and your hands went to your hips.

“Why am I always defense?” you asked, and Bruce and Damian stared at each other. 

Last Year

You were placed in defense, and your team consisted of Tim and Dick. Jason, Bruce, and Damian were a team, and Damian happened to sneak past you. The sound of a twig snapping caught your attention, and you jumped into action.

Damian was standing next to your blue flag, and about to take off with it. But when his eyes met yours, he bolted, making you chase after him. You threw a few pinecones at Damian, but he dodged them all. He was quick on his feet for being so little, but you jumped, and tackled Damian to the ground.

“Come on Dami, give mom the flag!” you shouted as you tried to grab it out of his hands. Damian flailed like a fish, and shouted, “NEVER!” You started tickling him, until he dropped the flag. 

Damian laid on the ground out of breath from laughing. You stood up, picked up your flag, and picked Damian off of the ground and took him back to your bases jail. “Don’t mess with momma.” you said before leaving Damian in the "jail".

End of Flashback

“I wasn’t that bad!” you exclaimed, and Bruce smiled.

“Mom, you were throwing pinecones at me! And you tackled me to the ground!” Damian said, and you gave them both a nervous smile. “Okay, that wasn’t my best motherly moment. But in my defense, I am competitive. I can’t help it.” you say as you ruffled Damian’s hair. 

Bruce pressed a kiss to your lips. “That’s why I married you, honey. I like your competitiveness.”

“Okay, guys, we need to get going. Alfred just blew the whistle.” Damian took off running, leaving you and Bruce behind. 

MEANWHILE....

“Jason, that’s cheating!” Tim exclaimed as Jason placed the flag on the ground behind a big rock. “It’s not cheating.” Jason said, as he turned to look at Tim.

“Alfred said, the flag must be eye level. So, having it lying on the ground is cheating.” Tim explained and Jason rolled his eyes.

“Tim, look down.” Jason said, and Tim looked down. “Can you see the flag?”

Tim nodded, and Jason clapped his hand to Tim’s back. “Okay then. It’s eye level.” Dick looked between Jason and the flag and smiled. “He’s got a point.”

Jason stood up on the rock, “I have decided I will be the defense, while you two be the offense. Damian will always try to be the first one to get the flag, and I want to be the one to put the spawn in jail.” he said as he hopped off the rock.

The boys heard the whistle blow, “Let’s go win us a trophy, now break!” Jason yelled, and Tim and Dick took off down the field.

...

You and Bruce had waited for Damian to return, but he never did. The sound of twigs and sticks snapping caught both yours and the Batman’s attention. Bruce held a finger to his lips and crept off through the trees. You waited patiently, and Bruce came back with Tim and Dick by the collars of their shirts.

“They thought they could sneak past the bat.” Bruce said, and he led them away to the place you guys picked as jail. "You did not just say that..." Dick said as Bruce tossed them both into jail.

When he came back, he smiled, “They made the mistake of sending out two scouts. I am going to check on Damian and I will be right back.”

You checked on Tim and Dick and they were lying on the ground. “Why would you send out two of your scouts?” you questioned, and they shrugged their shoulders. “It’s the last time we let Jason call the shots.” Dick mumbled, and Tim threw a rock. 

Ruffling both of the boys’ hair, Tim spoke, “Well, at least it was dad who got to us. Mom would’ve tackled us both.”

“Or worse, she would’ve thrown pinecones at us, or landed us in the ER..” Dick shuddered, and you rolled your eyes. “Have fun in jail, boys.”

You ran back to your hiding spot. and Bruce came back with no sign of Damian. “He must be up in a tree strategizing. He’s not in jail, and he’s nowhere to be found.”

Both you and Bruce heard a sneeze, and you looked around frantically. Bruce pulled you behind a tree, and the two of you peeked out towards the left of the field. Jason, Dick, and Tim were all creeping around, and you turned to Bruce. 

“It was a trap! This was Jason’s plan all along!” you whisper shouted, “That little shit....” you whispered, and Bruce chuckled. “It’s not funny, Bruce! If we lose this--” 

 Bruce placed a hand on your shoulder, "It's just a game of Capture the Flag honey, it's not that serious-"

You looked Bruce straight in the eyes, "If we lose this, I'm divorcing you." 

Bruce sprang into action, and the two of you went after one of the boys one at a time. Jason was the hardest to catch; somehow, you were able to climb a tree, and once Jason walked underneath, you leaped down at him. 

Jason let out a scream and hit the ground, “OUCH!” Jason cradled his arm, and pain raced up through your left leg. Bringing your leg to your chest, you held onto it, and Bruce, Tim, and Dick came running.

“What happened?” Bruce asked as he raced to your side.

“Mom jumped from the tree like a blood thirsty gremlin and tackled me to the ground. I think my arm is broken...” Jason said, and Bruce looked at you with an eyebrow raised.

“I think my leg is broken....” you said, and Bruce shook his head. He lifted you up off the ground, and Tim and Dick helped Jason off of the ground. “Another trip the ER. They might as well give us a room with our name on it.” Bruce mumbled.

LATER THAT EVENING

Your leg had a cast, and you were on crutches. Jason had a broken arm, and you had a fractured leg. “Your competitiveness has gotten the better of you. Again.” Bruce said as he helped you into bed.

He pressed a kiss to your forehead, “I thought you loved my competitiveness?” you questioned, and Bruce laughed. “I do, trust me I do. Sometimes I think you should have been a Navy Seal Operative.” 

 Alfred walked into the room and Dick trailed behind him with Damian in his arms. Damian had a red flag wrapped around his mouth, and duct tape around his wrists and ankles. 

“Oh my gosh, who did this?” you say and you motioned for Dick to place your youngest son on the bed. You tried your best to untie him. One you took the flag out of his mouth Damian coughed.

“I was outside for three hours! Where were you guys?” he asked, and you looked down at your leg. Damian stared, “Woah.  How’d that happen?” he asked, and your cheeks turned red.

Bruce sighed. “Your mom and Jason were the ones to get in a tussle this time around. But- what happened to you exactly?" Bruce asked and everyone turned their attention to youngest Wayne.

"It was Jason! I almost had their flag, and he jumped me from behind and tied me up!" then Damian started looking around the room. "Speaking of which... where is he?" Damian looked past Dick and seen Jason trying to creep out of the bedroom.

Before you and Bruce could grab Damian, he leaped off of the bed and hurled toward Jason. And a loud smack could be heard around the world and Jason's pained scream could also be heard in a thirty-mile radius.

"Don't mess with me!" Damian shouted as he bowed up at Jason. Alfred walked into the bedroom with the trophy in hand, "I assume that I get to keep this trophy?"

Bruce and you shared a glance at one another, "Because I have captured both flags." Alfred said as he smiled and waved both flags. That year, Alfred was the Wayne Summer Fun Victor.

This is the first addon I install on any new Firefox browser. It's an adblocker, but at its core it can remove pretty much any HTML element from a website, and it comes with pre-configured lists for removing everything from ads to cookie banners to those annoying popups that ask you to sign up for email newsletters.

Tab Session Manager

Have you ever accidentally lost all your open browser tabs due to a computer update, or even just accidentally closing Firefox? With this addon you no longer have to worry about that - it automatically saves your open tabs and windows every time the browser closes, and autosaves a restore point of tabs every few minutes in case the browser crashes unexpectedly. Opening all your previous tabs and windows is a one-click deal.

Sauron

Ever wished your favorite website had a dark mode? With Sauron, now it can! Sauron attempts to intelligently figure out how to edit the color scheme of the web page (including text) to make it dark-mode friendly. It preserves the original color of images, but dims them so that they don't blind you. You can disable image dimming or dark mode on a site by site basis too. It's not perfect since it is making guesses about which colors to change, but it goes a long way toward making the internet an enjoyable place for me.

Bypass Paywalls Clean

This addon removes paywalls from hundreds of news websites around the world or adds links to open the article in a wrapper that provides the article text (like the Internet Archive etc.)

Auto Tab Discard

Ever wanted to keep a tab open for later use, but you notice the browser getting slower and slower the more tabs you have open? Auto Tab Discard will automatically "hibernate" tabs that you haven't used in a while so that they use less resources on your computer. It's smart enough not to hibernate pages that are playing media (like YouTube) or that have forms you haven't submitted yet (like job applications). You can customize how fast it puts tabs to sleep too and exclude certain websites from hibernating at all.

Video DownloadHelper

This addon can download streaming videos from most modern (HTML5) websites, and even finds soft subtitles that accompany the stream and downloads those too. Just browse to the webpage that has the video on it, click the icon in the Firefox toolbar, and select the video you want to download and click "Quick Download". For YouTube I would recommend using a YT downloader website (like KeepVid) to download the video directly, but Video DownloadHelper really shines for websites that aren't popular enough to have dedicated downloader websites like that. I've used it download videos from a Japanese film festival streaming portal, news websites, etc.

Highlight or Hide Search Engine Results

This addon allows you to blacklist websites and completely remove them from Google, Bing, or DuckDuckGo search results. Don't want to see image search results from AI websites? Blacklist them. Searching for tech support advice and getting frustrated by all the auto-generated junk websites that stuff themselves full of SEO terms to jump to the top of the search results without actually providing any information at all? Blacklist them so they don't come up in your next search. Conversely, you can also whitelist websites that you know and trust so that if they ever come up in future search results, they'll be highlighted with a color of your choosing for visibility.

TWP - Translate Web Pages

(compatible with Firefox for Android)

Does what it says on the tin: auto-detects a website's language and provides a button that can translate it to a language of your choosing. You can also just select individual text on the page and translate just that. Note that this sends whatever text you translate to the servers of your selected translation service (Google, Bing, Yandex, or DeepL), so keep in mind the privacy implications if you don't want your IP address associated with having read that text.

Edit: As of version 118, Firefox now has the ability to translate text locally on your computer, without needing to send it to a cloud service. You can enable this in Settings -> Translation -> Install languages for offline translation. Note that at this time (Oct 2023), only 8 Western European languages + English are supported. More info here.

UnTrap for YouTube

(compatible with Firefox for Android and they have a Safari for iOS extension too)

This addon lets you tweak the YouTube interface and hide anything you don't want to see. For instance, I hide all the "recommended" videos that come up when you search YT now. They have nothing to do with your search, so they're essentially just ads YT puts in your search results. I also hide Explore, Trending, More from YouTube, and Shorts sections, but you can customize it to fit your preferences.

Note: depending on the particular set of tweaks you want to make to YouTube, you may prefer to use YouTube Search Fixer instead. User preference.

Indie Wiki Buddy

I loathe Fandom.com wiki sites - they are cluttered and filled with ads and autoplaying videos that follow you down the page as you scroll. The organization is also hostile - if a community tries to leave their platform and bring their content to a new wiki hoster, Fandom bans them from the platform and reverts all their deletions/changes. Indie Wiki Buddy attempts to find an independent alternative for the wiki you're trying to browse and automatically redirects you to it, and if one doesn't exist, it will redirect you to a proxy site like antifandom or breezewiki that shows the Fandom content but removes all ads/videos/background images so you can actually, you know. READ it.

Cookie Auto Delete

(compatible with Firefox for Android)

Websites store "cookies" - little text files with info about you - on your computer as you browse so they can track you as you browse the internet. This addon automatically deletes cookies from a website a short while after you close the last tab you had open for that site. You can customize how long it waits before clearing cookies too. Note that this can sign you out of many websites, so you can whitelist any site you don't want cookies cleared for.

ShopSuey - Get Rid of Ads on Amazon and Ebay

Removes the ads/recommended products that clutter up Amazon and Ebay search results and product pages.

LibraryExtension

This fantastic addon recognizes when you are viewing a book on many popular websites and can automatically check whether that book is available in any of the library systems or subscription services you have access to, including how many copies your library(ies) have and how many are currently checked out. The best part is it shows the availability for physical books, ebooks, AND audiobooks at supported libraries. The extension currently supports libraries in Australia, Canada, Germany, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States, but it also supports some global repositories like the Internet Archive and subscription services like NLS Bard for the blind and print disabled, Kobo Plus, Libro.fm, Anyplay.fm, Bookmate, and Everand. Great extension for people trying to support their local library and also save money.

Filtering+ for Tumblr

This addon lets you add tags or phrases to your tumblr tag filters with two clicks, without leaving the dashboard. I've been asking Tumblr for this tag filtering behavior on their mobile apps (i.e. press and hold a tag to get a filter option) for at least a year now in asks and surveys, without ever stopping to see if someone had already implemented this on desktop. More fool me. This addon is from the author of XKit Rewritten. Note that the right-click tag filtering only works on the dashboard; it will not appear if you are on someone's blog. Right-clicking selected text to filter the phrase works everywhere based on my testing.

Can I ask if you use OBS for streaming? And also any tips for an aspiring streamy girl? *looks at you with the wettest eyes*

I do use OBS ! If youre not really familiar with it, its totally worth looking up some simple tutorials for. Once you can get a grasp on the program in general, its super modular and fun to mess around with. I think my biggest pieces of advice for streaming are like. 1: IGNORE those numbers queen. It can be super easy to see streamers with anywhere from 29-100 viewers and feel sucks about an average of like. 1-4. but literally anyone who uses twitch- or any platform- has to start there unless you're already situated on a different platform!

These are my average viewers from 2020- its taken me a long time to do anything on twitch, but its been a hell of a lot of fun, and its let me meet some of my best friends in the world because of it! Streaming is a great way to meet people, which brings me to point 2: Absolutely be careful who you meet! I've met a lot of really great people on the site- but as much as small streamers gotta stick together, there's some real stinkers out there who only want to 'network' with you. I won't pretend im BFFs with everyone I interact with on the platform- we're like neighbors <3- but I can confidently say I've never spoken to someone with intentions of clout chasing. The internet's the internet- stay safe out there lmao Ironically this becomes less of a problem the more you stream, you kinda learn to spot it, but back when I was at around 300 followers I absolutely had some incidents where people were playing some real booboo games to try get closer to me. Lots of streamers have promo channels in their respective discords- places you can link your stream when you're going live- just make sure you're an active-ish member of the community if you plan on doing that! Chatters are way more likely to stop by if they recognize you- and its pretty rude to be completely silent in 45 discords unless you're going live- 3: have fun!! Twitch is still just a hobby for me- its admittedly helped me out of a few rougher financial months at random points in the last few years- but im still very far away from making it my full time job in any capacity. Pace yourself- play games with your friends- and have fun! Worrying about growth and money is a pointless endeavor- because twitch will not help you grow! 4: Use Other Platforms: (as well, i mean) There's a lot of youtube videos and tutorials debating the best streaming site- "ahh heres why i left twitch forever vs aahhh heres why im leaving youtube forever" but it boils down to Sites Is Sucks ALWAYS. Forever. If you want to grow on twitch- or any site- make sure you're posting about your streams elsewhere too! Not JUST stream promo posts, but highlights and clips as well! If you can get some sort of editing software, subtitling them expands their reach a TON across the board, though it does take more time to subtitle them. People wont know what youre doing unless you tell them! Now, this does mean you might have to download the dreaded tiktok- I can't speak for the quality of that site in terms of getting people to watch streams; but twitch itself has sent me emails in the past recommending I post clips to tiktok. Plenty of streamers do it- use your best judgement, and what sites you think you can adapt to! Tiktok honestly might be better for getting your clips out there without a preexisting audience- when I first started streaming, I had 6000 followers on tumblr and my promo posts regularly got 1-4 notes- Nothing against those 6000; a promo post is tragically similar to an ad! Of course they wouldnt click it. They dont know how sweet and awesome and silly i am and how my friends mash me with hammers. Theyd want to see that. [The Promo Posts Were Also MID] Some of these things might sound weirdly specific or erratic but its 1 AM and im just recounting some random knowledge ive gained- none of this is a science of course, people might swear the opposite for some of these things. But! Have Fun

Don’t judge me, I’ve been brainstorming: Kenneth biased fanfic from Sugar’s pov- “Missing You”

A sigh escaped my lips as I entered the apartment I shared with Chris, letting out my verbal exhaustion once noticing that his keys were missing from the bowl. Tossing my own in, another groan left me as I made my way to the kitchen, searching for something quick to microwave before plopping in front of the tv in the living room. It must have been an hour or so before I eventually settled on watching the usual: nature documentaries narrated by either Morgan Freeman or David Attenborough. The food was long gone, and the loneliness began to set in. Sure, there were a few new programs added to the streaming sites every few years, but I had always come back to the same ones….’The same ones I watched with him…’ Not that Steph or Chris wouldn’t watch these sorts of shows with me from time to time….there wasn’t a single person who really enjoyed watching them with me like he did. I could just imagine Steph now…on their phone while only listening in periodically when I really wanted their attention on some sort of new fact I learned or some animal I liked the coloration for, suggesting to use them as inspirations for their next body paint project.

Another sigh left me, and despite trying to shake off the thoughts….I couldn’t. Hot tears had already begun to spill, and I cursed myself for feeling this way. “I-I should hate him…..I just feel bad for being alone….” I mumbled to myself, looking down at my hands and cursing again. Kenneth had cheated on me with my own sister- sure, we didn’t have the greatest relationship, but I’d think she’d care more about me than to cross that line. Another twinge of guilt, ‘It wasn’t her fault,’ the little voice in my mind spoke up, ‘she’s just a child…you know his way with words.’ Another sigh, followed by the same uncomfortable stimming reflex of rubbing my eyebrows, then my eyes, then scratching the rest of my face. I hated this, definitely not the position I ever wanted or thought of being in. What had changed? Sure….it was weird enough that their marriage was to make their parents happy….but….were all those years just a fluke? Did Kenneth really not feel anything for me…? I could feel my expression darkening before the door clicked, and my usually enthusiastic and energetic roommate entered through it. Quickly, I forced myself to shake off those feelings and pause the documentary that I had long since forgotten about, “Hey, bud! How was your workout?”

If Chris noticed the crack in my voice, he didn’t say anything about it. He was nice like that. “It went good, what are you watching?” I glanced at the tv and then looked back at Chris, “Just one of those old lion pack documentaries, it really stood with me how the lioness was able to live past a broken jaw due to the closeness of her pack.” “That’s cool.” I shot Chris a glance, and he was wiping himself off with the towel from his gym bag. “If you want…” I hesitated before shuffling further to face my roommate, “I-I could restart it….or we can just watch from here…” Despite wanting to appear more confident, I could hear my voice falter, and my gaze turned away from him again. Chris stared at me for a moment before smiling, “Sure, we can rewind it. Let me just take a shower first, I stink.” He chuckled while pointing to the shared bathroom. I knew he was pitying me, just a little, but I appreciated the company and knew that Chris didn’t mean anything bad by it. I gave him a nod, and turned back to the TV so I could rewind the show. “Thanks…I…..I-it means a lot…” I whispered the last part….not even daring to look back at Chris’s reaction, in case I worried him more. Once I heard his footsteps trail down the hallway, I called back with a, “Let’s watch a sports movie for you too, we can have movie nights a little early sometimes,” not wanting Chris to feel too obligated to something he didn’t enjoy that much. “Sounds good to me dude!” I could hear the wave in Chris’s voice….although, maybe a hint of fear? No, I was just imagining that, he was likely sore from the workout he did earlier. That’s probably it.

I once harassed the shit out of Starz Entertainment on facebook for publishing a highly misleading ad that preys on dark patterns and sending glorified cyberbullies to try to abuse me off of facebook.

I got 3 of their social media goons to ragequit. I won't post a screenshot of the first ad, primarily because I don't have one. Suffice it to say that it was very obviously a screengrab from the show "Outlander" and had a 10 minute "timer" (read: gif) that warned that, at the end of the "timer" a special deal for 6 months of a huge discount on their streaming site would expire.

I decided to test this by sitting and watching the timer to see it expire. As was totally unsurprising, it was definitely just a gif meant to get reaction-clicks, more traffic to their site and algorithm, and potentially prey on someone with a gambling addiction (like my grandmother) or other compulsion-causing condition to unwittingly throw their money at the ad to make it stop counting down. This is a real anxiety many gamblers and neurodivergent people have, and I have seen quite a few people with autism and/or ADHD and/or a slew of other conditions reveal that those kinds of malicious ads have indeed gotten them to part with some of their money just so they would make the timer go away.

Now, I decided to make this known to Starz by commenting under the ad itself where thousands of other people had also commented. To wit, I simply explained the sheer number of manipulative tactics they were using with this particular banner ad and how, upon reading their subscription TOS and the real terms for the discount (which wasn't fake), I also elaborated that the special discount lasted for several more MONTHS. Not just 10 minutes on facebook.

So I got mouthy. I didn't say anything directly defamatory or even intentionally insulting; I just wrote a small thesis paper on how their ad was the perfect example of Corporate Manipulative Tactics That Are Bad. The comment was 100% intended for anyone who really wasn't sure if the 10 minute timer ad was legit or not, and I would've rather had people know than remain ignorant before signing on with Starz since they're willing to lie 6 months down to 10 minutes.

I mean, I understand haggling, but come on.

Anyway, I post my response, and immediately I get a funny feeling. Mostly because within minutes, I receive a reply under what I wrote from a very generic (but real) person on facebook who forgot to lock their FB account and I could see in their "about me" section that they worked for Starz. This person called me stupid, that I was full of shit, that I was pathetic, that nobody cared what I had to say etc. etc. I only replied by using their replies and facebook's own algorithm and to continue my little TED talk about dark patterns using this person's attempts at cyberbullying as my soapbox. I stayed at the top of the comments section for a few days thanks to that.

Finally, someone shows up in my DMs. Calling me all manner of things, but pretty much the most boilerplate "I'm A Middle Aged Ad Exec And This Sounds Mean To Me So It Should Work On You" insults and harassment.

For the record, do not attempt to do this unless you have a lot of energy and a very open schedule, because I come from the era where 4chan was tricking kids into mixing bleach and ammonia to make "crystals", but really getting them hospitalized or buried for phosphene/mustard gas poisoning. "Goncharov" is a cute troll, but it's just that. Cute.

So Ad Troll #1 has to close down their FB account after I doxxed them when they told me to literally kill myself.

Less than 24 hours later, in comes some other person who totally isn't Starz affiliated ( /s ) to continue the same line of attempted verbal abuse. I mean, I find cold reading at a magic show boring, but they weren't even trying that. It was just schoolyard insults, again. I replied by mentioning she had the countenance about her that reminded me of a weather balloon full of Botox and tanning lotion had crash-landed on a topographical map of the Rocky Mountains. She stopped harassing me, closed her FB account, and disappeared after her nephew started pissing himself in the comments and saying "This is why nobody talks to you at Thanksgiving, Carol."

Third one? It gets fun. That's when I just started posting screengrabs of what these advertisers/social media whatevers were saying to me in FB chat, and I just began posting every screenshot directly as a reply to the very Starz ad they decided to behead me over. Tagging Starz's real company and corporate offices very. single. time. Probably well over 50 times, while continuing to give a long explanation about target manipulation and the tricks they use in Las Vegas casinos. I lived in Vegas for about 10 years or so and both my mom and dad worked within the contract and legal departments of MGM.

Suddenly, Troll #3 just disappears. Mid-insult. Curious that my wireless might've been acting up, I refreshed my facebook page just to make sure the game was still on.

The manipulative ad with the fake countdown timer had disappeared, and was replaced by this:

It was the kind of a joke you’d make in high school. If things don’t work out, I can always become a stripper. That, or work at MacDonald’s.

Well, things were not working out for Kuvira.

Waitressing was … not her thing, and it turned out that being a stripper was less degrading that being yelled at for less than minimum wage. Or, at least that’s what Kuvira was imagining while she surfed her way through the first page of Google results that came up when she typed in ‘camgirl website’.

She needed supplemental income. Or even just income. Kuvira was still settling into Republic City and maybe her landing was currently kind of rough.

But the idea of dancing or stripping online was tantalizing.

Working from home and not having to interact with real people in the real world sounded ideal. No more hour-long bus rides to and from a restaurant that would make her clothes and hair smell like onions and where she’d regularly get lectured by miserable old women to be more polite and by miserable old men to smile more (two different but equally unpleasant kinds of customers).

And, given that Kuvira had finally broke down and told a customer off, it’s not like she really had a choice anymore. She’d walked out on the job only to keep them from firing her on the spot. It was really this or MacDonald’s. If Micky D’s would even take her now that quit her last food industry job.

It was a joke. Obviously. But it abruptly became less funny as Kuvira got to a screen that demanded she make a profile and she obeyed. No turning back.

Kuvira dumping her money into Dance at Zaofu Academy was maybe not her brightest idea. But, allegedly, you only live once. Allegedly, you should chase your passions. Unless your passion is Dance, in which case that’s a waste of money, according to Kuvira’s parents.

“Look at me now, mom,” Kuvira grumbled to herself, filling in the bare minimum information the profile required.

She loved dancing. While her family wasn’t supporting her, she didn’t need their support. She needed … she needed to consider stripping as an option, apparently. Scholarships couldn’t cover everything after all. Not that Kuvira was getting a ton of those, either.

Kuvira had settled on the second website that came up, since it seemed the least sketchy. But a part of its less sketchy nature had it prompting her to complete a profile. For free, it claimed, though they still made her fill out her credit card information. The actual giving and taking of money came later, they promised.

The name Dancer was taken. Kuvira clicked her tongue in annoyance and added a few Xs to her username until she found one that worked. xxDancer it was.

Kuvira just wanted to check out this website. Apparently, it was one of the most prominent and exclusive sites. If there was some kind of niche Kuvira could fill, she could probably make decent money here. Enough to take the edge off, at least.

She clicked submit, and her webpage was quickly overwhelmed with a barrage of boobs and smatterings of below-the-belt content.

It was a lot.

If Kuvira was any more prudish, she would’ve clicked away. She averted her gaze – even though these women probably didn’t mind, given that this was the whole point of the website. They knew what website they were on, even if Kuvira clearly did not.

But Kuvira knew she couldn’t beg for yet another minimum-wage retail job. It was just going to end the same way – with Kuvira putting in her two weeks notice before a full two weeks had even elapsed.

She’d have to at least give stripping or camming a try.

Kuvira was hot, maybe too muscular for some guys, but she knew how to move. If anything, dancing on camera would just be more practice for her.

She scanned through several streaming screens. The diversity of bodies was surprising. She’d always thought men liked a specific type of woman but … that type of women wasn’t exactly common or even realistic, so maybe she shouldn’t have been surprised.

Most of these girls looked, well, pretty but also kind of average in their own way. Average wasn’t the right word. Human. Kuvira really didn’t know what she was expecting to see here. It wasn’t like she’d looked up camgirls before, but she had expected that they’d all look airbrushed. Stick thin with wispy straight hair, big boobs, and perfect makeup.

Their makeup was often pretty good.

But they were also stunningly normal. Some people had big boobs, most were average or small. Saggy, perky, completely flat-chested. Even just – nipples alone, Kuvira analyzed, ranged from peach to dark brown, large to pinpricks. Kuvira wasn’t someone who was overly self-conscious about her body, but … it was strangely reassuring. It wasn’t – it wasn’t sexual, her admiration. It wasn’t – she wasn’t attracted to most of these women. But undeniably, some of them were pretty attractive.

One girl in particular caught Kuvira’s eye. It might’ve been because she was still wearing clothes. Maybe she always would – Kuvira didn’t really know how far people were expected to go on here, or how far she herself would be comfortable going.

The woman was pretty, if a little plain. She wasn’t wearing makeup, or at least not obviously, and she was one of the few girls Kuvira had seen with short hair. She had a small chest, which was fortunate for Kuvira since Kuvira’s chest was paltry in comparison to what she expected people who used these websites were hoping to see. It boded well, that’s all.

Kuvira’s mouse hesitated over the window, then clicked. The woman – username AirNomad – was chatting about something as she sat back on her bed.

“– I came back here, obviously,” she was in the middle of saying, “I made a promise, right? Couldn’t leave you guys hanging. Plus, I’m kind of an introvert. That’s probably enough social interaction for a week.” She laughed.

Oh, so her persona was … quirky. A pixie dreamgirl ‘not like other girl’ types. That was … a little bit grating. But, well. Kuvira was here to get a lay of the land. It sounded like this camgirl stuff required a little more talking than Kuvira had been planning on, but maybe it was easier if you weren’t actually talking to people directly.

“Oh, I see we have a new attendee today,” AirNomad said, sounding a little amused. She read out Kuvira’s username, “Ex Ex Dancer.” She leaned in closer to the camera, having the incidental affect of showing off her cleavage. Her boobs were small – they definitely weren’t nonexistent. “Are you a dancer?” Kuvira’s mouth dried up.

She hadn’t expected to be noticed, much less addressed. She had the strong urge to just click out of the window.

But … what was she so scared of or intimidated by? Sure, she’d expected to just anonymously blend in with the rest of the perverts, but clearly a part of this woman’s schtick was that she was personable. A fake girlfriend. As perky as her boobs. Kuvira could play along with that, probably.

She glanced down at her keyboard, trying to remember herself.

She typed out, “I’m considering it.”

“Considering it?” AirNomad asked, leaning back. She had been carefully waiting on Kuvira’s response. “That’s a little vague.”

Kuvira felt ridiculous. She hadn’t expected for Nomad, or anyone, to notice her presence and she felt like the camgirl was shining a spotlight on her. She forced down her instinct to just log out.

“I’m considering becoming a camgirl,” Kuvira explained. “I just wanted to check out this site and I had to make an account.”

“Scope out the competition?” Nomad asked, grinning broadly. “That’s valid, I guess. But I hope you’ll use a different credit card for when you make your actual account.” Dumbass that Kuvira was, she’d just used her regular credit card. “The security on this website is apparently pretty good, but it doesn’t hurt to be extra cautious.”

That was actually very generous of AirNomad. Kuvira felt kind of bad that the two of them were in this situation. Like she’d been caught spying on her – though the woman hadn’t done anything compromising yet.

“Sorry if this is awkward,” Kuvira typed out. AirNomad smiled.

“What,” she asked sardonically, “stripping in front of another stranger online? I think I passed the awkward stage awhile back.” She shifted on her bed. “Speaking of, I guess I better get started?”

If Kuvira had anything to add, it was soon swallowed up by other commenters. Kuvira resolved to not look at the chat if she didn’t have to. After all, it wasn’t like she was tuning in for the chat.

Nomad moved backwards on her bed, leaning over the side so that she could put on some music, exposing the soft line of her stomach as she did so. Kuvira shifted on her bed, balancing her laptop on her thighs, trying to get a better look at Nomad’s set-up.

Nomad had a larger bed than Kuvira, and she could kneel comfortably on it. She was lit well too, clearly she had a ring light or something at the foot of her bed, and LED strips across her ceiling that provided extra brightness and colour. She also had a high-quality camera – Kuvira could see detail even in the shadowed areas. Kuvira wondered if she’d have to do some initial investment, beyond just showing up and taking her clothes off. Especially when she wasn’t sure if she had the nerve to take her clothes off.

But then Nomad settled back onto the bed, smiling at the camera like she was looking directly at her audience, and Kuvira stopped thinking about the interior design.

Nomad was dressed unexcitingly, like any random girl on a sunny summer day. She wore a red sundress, and beneath that – shorts – like she’d just come back from doing some errand and had hopped onto her bed with little preparation. It went with the kind of sweet, airy personality she gave off, like she was the wholesome girl next door. It was not the kind of vibe Kuvira could give; she was too severe.

AirNomad spread her legs and kneeled forward on her bent knees. “Okay, you guys,” she said breathlessly. “What should I take off first?”

I had the money set aside to purchase a 5D3 – I was just waiting on a sale to drop the price a couple hundred bucks so that I could feel good about getting a “deal”. I just wasn’t using my 60D anymore, although I truly loved the camera. My intent was always to move the to the MK3, and after making the changes to my kit, I realized that I wanted to replace my surviving crop sensor body (Canon EOS 60D) with a second full frame body. I had to go through the process of re-orienting my lens kit, eventually selling all the crop only lenses (EF-S 15-85mm, EF-S 10-22mm, Tamron SP 17-50mm f/2.8, Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 ) and replacing them with full frame equivalents during this time frame. My MK2 has served me very well over the past year and a half, and has produced many of the best images that I have ever taken. I still feel that this was a good decision, for although I was initially disappointed in the MK2 for its (aged) handling and AF, the great image quality won me over. I bought a MK2 instead, deciding that I would use it in the interim until the MK3 price dropped somewhat.
