WRITEBLR RE-INTRO
Hello beautiful people of Tumblr! It’s me Yejide again! You might’ve been wondering where my account went, and it’s because I accidentally deleted it all! I was trying to delete a blog I accidentally created and then I didn’t realize I was deleting my entire account, so after my mental breakdown I’m here now. I’m doing a re-introduction to those who know me and don’t. I’m going to try to rebuild this account as much as I can and store four years of memories here!
About Me:
My name is Yejide, but I go by Yeji or 'Your Mutual'. I'm a minor and Nigerian-Canadian. My pronouns are she/her.
My interests are writing (obvs), dancing/performing, reading, playing music, watching cartoons, watching YouTube, creating long Twitter threads and listening to k-pop. I am a student at some random-ass high school in Canada.
About My Writing:
I've been on writeblr for about three years, but since I accidentally deleted my account, there's no proof of this, so take this as you will. I love being in a community with other writers, so PLEASE tag me in tag games and talk about your WIPS with me!
My favourite genres to write are speculative fiction and contemporary fiction. I'll dabble in mystery or historical fiction once in a while.
I currently work (volunteer) at two online publications, so I'm excited to get literary experience and work with other writers.
My top two current WIPS are The Order of the Key (science-fantasy) and You and Me [Plus Everyone in Between Us] (contemporary). (reintroductions coming soon!)
I have a young adult, sci-fi/cyberpunk series called Rogue that's currently published online! It's about a girl and her friends who try to prove themselves to the gaming world in a virtual reality competition. However, must now defeat a deadly hacker who plans to merge reality and virtual reality.
I'll be making more posts in the future!
You can read my sci-fi duology Rogue HERE!

tens but tag II
tagged way back when I first invented it and it was making the rounds by @jessica-writes22 and @yejiwritesthings
the rules are to use the "they're a ten but" meme to explain something about your characters.
I'll do it for City Story.
Jet - he's a ten but he tends to try to punch his problems instead of talking to them
Copper - he's a ten but he will ask you how you're feeling exactly when you don't want him to
Rune - she's a ten but she'll keep secrets to your face
Moss - he's a ten but he'll take care of you without you knowing
Yarrow - he's a ten but he will get chalk dust on everything
Hawk - he's a ten but he thinks math is fun
Shadow - he's a ten but he's always hungry and will never say so

WIP intros but make it AITA Tag
Thank you to @theglitchywriterboi for the tag and also for coming up with this game! These were a lot of fun to write!
AITA if I forgot to tell my traveling companion that I was possessed by a demon? I [27F] lived a pretty normal life until I learned I was going to hell and asked a demon [?̴̧̢͔̩̤̖͎̰̼͚͊̌͠?̴̧̰͖͇͈͈̗̤̥͚͎͉̪̝̼̂̊́͛͆̾̓̐͐̑̋̊̕͝?̷̛̛̺̙̻̠̭̹̘̰͙̔̎̓͋̉̔̈́̓͐̍͌͋̚] for help in exchange for sharing my body. I then ran into an exorcist [26F] and she offered to help me run the demon's errands. I may have lied about also being an exorcist and didn't tell her about the demon. I can't let her exorcise the demon, but I feel bad about lying to her. The demon's suggestion is to just ditch her on the side of the road, but I probably won't stoop to that yet. AITA? [WIP: H2H]
AITA if I don't tell my best friend that I accidentally killed him? I [15M] and my best friend [15M] both go to a boarding school that I semi-recently figured out is in a time loop. I remember what happened in the previous iterations, but he doesn't. One iteration, a little while back, I may or may not have set off a chain of events that left him dead. We've looped back now and he's alive again, but I still feel guilty about it. I can't tell him or he'd never look at me the same again, but it's hard to keep such a huge secret. AITA? [WIP: MBP]
AITA if I abandoned my family to deliver a file to someone that might be dead? I [17F] am traveling with a group of friends [17M, 18M, and 17F] to deliver a file to a scientist on the west coast. We don't know much about them except for the location, but the person who gave them to us told us the scientist would be able to stop the zombie apocalypse with them. We weren't with our families at the time, but between running from zombies and wanting to deliver the file, we never got a chance to see if they were okay. I think that it's for the greater good, so we're in the all-clear, but my friend thinks we should have gone back and saved them. Who's the asshole here? [WIP: WTRL]
Tagging (no pressure): @sapphic-story, @writingforevren, @lividdreamz, @yejiwritesthings, @bookish-galaxy, and anyone else who'd like to join (especially since it's a relatively new tag game!

Favorite Tropes Tag
Thanks for the tag, @yejiwritesthings!
TW for some non-graphic whumpish answers from the first two.
FAVORITE BIG DRAMATIC FIGHT TROPE
When two people who used to trust each other have become enemies and meet on the battlefield for the last time. Bonus points if one of them is driven to tears about it. And there's no discussion during the fight, no "why are you doing this" or "you don't have to do this," just throwing themselves at each other, and you can tell that as they're fighting they're mourning the past they used to have.
FAVORITE BACKSTORY REVEAL TROPE
When Character X discovers a scar (physical or mental) that Character Y has been hiding and Y says they don't want to talk about it, but then X convinces them to open up somehow, so Y just like... recounts the most horrific backstory in a deadpan way and acts like it's no big deal. Y only realizes how messed up it was when X brings them in for a hug or starts to tear up.
FAVORITE PARENT/PARENTING/CHILD INTERACTION TROPE
When a kid is stuck with some dude who is very much not prepared to be a parent, but he grudgingly realizes the kid's kinda cute and they end up becoming each other's found family.
FAVORITE ROMANCE TROPE
Can I be basic and say Enemies to Lovers? But not enemies as in "he calls me horrible names and talks down to me but he's rich and hot and he called me pretty once so now I'm in love with him." I'm talking two people on opposite sides of a war or something, each convinced the other is a terrible person because of who they serve or something they did. Maybe they end up stuck somewhere and can only get out of the mess they're in by working together. Maybe they spill a bit of backstory accidentally, discovering the other isn't the monster they thought they were. And they get out of that situation, but they can't stop thinking about each other, even if they hate to admit it. They encounter each other a few times and their angry fights end up more flirty each time they meet. You see where I'm going with this? I'm envisioning one of them ending up hurt and the other nursing them even though they wouldn't have cared before, or one of them basically doing my "backstory reveal trope" answer and the other one going on a rampage for them. Enemies to Lovers.
I'm trying to do Enemies to Friends in WARRIOR but I have to keep slapping my own wrists to not take it to Lovers because I just really like it. Me @ my characters: please play nice, please play platonically
FAVORITE CHARACTER ARCHETYPE
*sigh* Rat bastard...
Alternatively, snarly morally gray/villainous edgelord. Who is also a rat bastard. There are a few of them.

/ all excerpts from TO FORGET A PRINCE /
SIGH //
“I didn’t do anything,” Yulei said finally, but might have been lying.
“You jacked up the altar!” Haithe shouted. She tossed her arms when she spoke, disheveled uniform crumpled at her elbows, sleeves without rank or sigil and still glaring with the passion of a blood feud. “And then everything just rearranged into something else, even if it smells like the same piss—”
“We’re only deeper inside the canyon,” Diorre insisted.
“We’re far from the canyon.”
“No,” he told Monik, relentlessly calm, “this wall must hide the way back.” Diorre gave the cave a tentative push, then a few well-meaning shoves, and one hard press with the full strain of his shoulders. He scoffed at the audacity. “Then there must be another way to the temple.”
“Maybe this is the temple,” Kon said.
Ahead of them, the torch-guided passage sighed in anticipation. It sang like an invitation.
SHAKE //
For a slice of a moment, the stone chilled in her palm. Yulei dropped it as her breath caught, and the stone landed in the grass with a thud much heavier than it felt.
“What’s wrong?”
Yulei swallowed. “It just surprised me...”
But the sudden crisp CRACK surprised her more. The stone split down the middle, spewing flakes. Both Yulei and Kon scrambled to stand, momentarily breathless, but before either managed an inhale—a terrible whine drowned her.
Yulei doubled over, gasping, gagging, a shock splitting her thoughts like a shriek of lightning and convulsive thunder. She felt Kon grab her shoulder and shake—the hurricane worsened, nausea crawled up her throat—and with a starved breath, Yulei forced her eyes open.
And found it was utterly silent. And the grasslands were gone.
SHIVER //
A shiver seized him. The hallway was terribly cold. It showed along the walls in swirling patterns of frost and frosted the breath along his lips, although the Further left Nara so feverish he was slow to notice.
Still crouched beside him, the woman released a long exhale. “I don’t know where we are. Or where anyone else is.” She glimpsed at him, then turned again. “I don’t even know who you are.”
“If the Further didn’t kill them, the others won’t be far,” Nara said. “That emblem was mostly bluster.”
“Whatever you say.” She tapped her nose.
Lifting a hand to his, Nara pulled away with blood on his fingers.
STICK //
Twelve years ago, Nara visited the Graveyard for his very first meeting with an outlaw client, and his teacher gave him the lead. Nara was charmingly certain he had everything under control. That was the first time he was stabbed. “Wish it pierced your kidneys instead, boy. You deserve worse for not holding your tongue.” But the shiv hurt plenty sticking from the muscles in his back, and so Nara learned to keep his tongue silver and meticulous.
SMILE //
She crooked an elbow over her nose and ignored the mutterings behind her. She wove through the debris without touching any of the frayed support beams. Sand stung her eyes and dulled her progress, but the pulse in her heart sharpened as the distance closed. An old friend and an old wound, Yulei trusted the song of arcane even inside the Khyvenek.
A flat, purposely carved wall waited at the dead end. And there was the anticipated door, grounded inside the stone on four golden beams. The final torch sizzled beside it.
Yulei allowed herself a broad, haughty smile. With minimal condescension, she eventually persuaded the Steelguard to look for themselves. They entered the shambled passage with ample complaint.
Kon arrived at her side first, brow rumpled at the sight. “I… missed this. Somehow.”
SINCE //
The furtherblood academy was constructed roughly eight centuries ago and most of the place looked a century worse. Lichen and purple-leafed vines shrouded every surface. The streets were built narrow and crooked, leading Yulei through bursts of garden and under root-twisted archways. Hulking gnarls of birch patched the most timeworn of the original white stonework, and ever since the inferno ninety-four years ago that claimed four class halls and most of the north stables, smoke lingered behind every scent. Plenty of the place was a safety hazard, but nobody argued much for rebuilding. Academy scholars insisted the buildings were historic, and the guilds with any heft in their pocket scoffed at funding such a project; they dreaded the annual donation quite enough.
MIND //
“It’s not a lie, the further calls to… wait.” Yulei halted, eye catching on one of the paintings. “This one isn’t a portrait.”
It was a landscape: brush strokes heavy and illustrating a cavern in vibrant oils, the cave walls serrated by belts of gleaming crystal. It had a simple frame and hung just above her shoulders. When Yulei moved to inspect the painting, her neck bristled. Her skin itched. Like something watching.
Breath leaping at the unfamiliar brush of further, she swiveled around – but nothing paid her mind.
Except for the hundreds of oil portraits, each with glowering eyes.
Except for Kon, now staring at her. “You think it means something?”
OPEN //
The morning began pleasantly enough – Nara woke with the usual degree of aching bones and bedhead, and early enough to brew tea and savor the sunrise from the temple’s porch. But a messenger arrived around his sixth sip; throwing open the garden gate with an expression warped by bad news.
“Disaster, Nara, tragedy and disaster! You must come quick!”
Grudgingly, Nara lowered his mug.
CRUEL //
“Sounds like a wise man.”
“Sometimes.” Yulei scratched at her wrists again. “Arie was mostly arrogant. Called me his hopeless case. He was really hard to impress.”
In the wake of the words, Yulei’s expression shuttered. She teased her lips to a grin that didn’t carry substance, and the warm memory faded from her eyes when she looked at Nara again.
Deflective, she said, “Bet you had a wise teacher, too.”
“I did.”
Yulei waited.
Everything Nara could say about Kesiro boiled in his mouth. Nara managed only, “He preferred the further’s cruelty.”
SMIRK //
Hovering between skeptical and contemplative, Yulei studied Kon; his sides bare of weapons, the casual clothing and small fungi lantern, and her gaze settled on the steadfast shine in his eyes. “You’re really here for a friendly conversation?”
“Yes.”
“What makes you think I want to talk?”
“You’re always talking.”
“You’ve only got ten minutes, then the guard returns for a head count.”
When Kon glanced cautiously down the hall, Yulei laughed.
“Well, well, maybe you are here in secret.” A smirk tugged one corner of her mouth. “I wonder how Patri would feel if he found out.”

This is from Fairweather, a one shot set in the Cardinal Sins world but has its own standalone story.
"You humans and your embarrassment," she laughed, "…it's just a body, it doesn't mean so much, everyone has one of those." Her hand then came out to rest on my chest, the scales shining with water in the starlight and the lone flame that burned from a lantern. Her sharp nails didn't strike any fear in me, for a moment I almost wished for their pressure. "—It's our souls that matter."
Our eyes met in the low light. Her face was so close and her hand must have felt the way my heart shook in the cavity of my chest. I felt, for a moment, that I would disintegrate in that second, enraptured by her, by her voice and her magic. I knew I would never find another person who could remotely compare.
"We should sleep," I whispered.
"We should," her lips brushed a smile as she looked down at me. I wanted to pull her back into my arms, drag her to the warmth of a bed, and bury my soul into her voice. I did none of those things.
"Good night, Fairweather." I held every syllable on my tongue with respect, I loved the way it tasted.
"Good night, love.”

Last Line Tag CCLVII
I was tagged by @ashen-crest for this one!! Thank you!
Another bit from Poppet WIP prequel [at this rate I’m going to have to give the prequel and the main story proper titles and intros]:
“Are you an adventurer?” she asked.
[Dutch] snorted. Most who called themselves adventurers had very romantic ideas of how the world worked. They thought they could find their fortune by slaying monsters and uncovering ancient tombs. They hadn’t yet learned that the pay for monster slaying was shit and that ancient tombs had good reasons for remaining lost. “Something like that.”
[...]
“A soldier?”
“A sword-for-hire,” Dutch said, not wanting to prolong the guessing game.
The woman’s face soured. “A mercenary.”
“There are semantic differences between the two, but sure, I’m not picky.”
“A profession full of liars and thieves,” she said acidicly. “I suppose I should be glad you didn’t rob me in my sleep.”
“That’s an odd way to thank me for picking your unconscious ass up off the floor,” she said. She didn’t really care, it was a reaction she was used to, but she didn’t like the woman’s tone. “If you’re done crying now, I’m going back to sleep. That way you won’t have to worry about me robbing you, as thieving while unconscious is beyond even my abilities.”
Dutch just wants to get some sleep.

2023 WRITING UPDATE | January 3, 2023
Tumblr media
☀ INTRODUCTION ☀
After a very fun comeback to Tumblr, here are all my less-ambitious goals for 2023!
☀ STATISTICS ☀
Projects I've worked on: You and Me (Plus Everyone In Between Us), The Order of the Key, and assorted short stories and poems.
Proudest Accomplishment: Getting published in a small indie magazine!
☀ COMMENTS ☀
Halfway through this year, I gave up on every single writing goal I set for myself last year, prompted by burnout that caused almost a year-long writer's block. It felt very bad, but also relieving because I had to re-learn why I loved writing in the first place.
This year I quit Camp Nano twice, but I also finished editing and publishing Enigma online which was nice. I also got published twice in some small press magazines, which helped to kickstart my writing career.
I got into writing poetry this year and took my chances submitting to magazines and journals. I got rejected from most of them, but accepted into two. I've also started two writing-related volunteer jobs, which could be helpful for the future and gaining experience!
This year I'm taking my writing career more seriously because I want to write in the future. I also want to focus more on not exerting myself and burning out again. This means fewer novels, more editing, and more focus on short work. I realized less is more.
☀ GOALS ☀
Edit and edit The Order of the Key.
Outline and write one new novel for NaNoWriMo.
Write more poetry and short stories and submit them to more publications.
Outline the rest of The Order series.
If all goes well, make editing plans for Misfits and You and Me (Plus Everything In Between Us).
Do consistent writing updates throughout the year.
That's it! Let's hope 2023 is easy!
You can read ENIGMA HERE!

The Great OC Alphabet Caper | hosted by me, Sleepy
and my hosted I mean that I have decided within the last ten minutes to do this thing, and I'm welcoming anybody who wants to join to do so. there's no time stretch that I'm working in, because I know better than that, and no limit for how many OCs in a day, or anything. I just want to ease myself back into writing now that I have some time to do that, and my favorite way is with my characters. and since I have a lot of them, I thought I might challenge myself a little.
I'm going to go through the alphabet and introduce every OC, letter by letter.
I intend to use this format:
name: age/pronouns: brief physical description: brief list of defining traits: optional excerpt depending on if they actually belong to a wip, and if I have written anything for that wip, and if I've written anything for this OC in that wip, and if I've written anything that illuminates the character in that wip, etc.-:
you can use this too, or just say "this is Zan, from Summon Story, he likes sewing and cheering people up, his fatal flaw is that he'll give anyone a second chance when it's their thirteenth and they're totally betraying him right now" or use whatever format you want.
(if the OC is a major protagonist I might give them their own post, but otherwise will just do a combined post unless I'm underestimating how many OCs I have again)
and then I thought maybe some of you crazies (great lovers of your OCs) would perhaps like to do this with me? since there's no structure besides the alphabetical thing and no ending date, you can join whenever you want and post as slowly or as quickly as you want. I'll follow the tag #the great oc alphabet caper and mayhap will interact with some of your posts!
if nobody else wants to do this, it doesn't matter, because I'm going to do it, because I want to.
I'll tag some peeps who probably won't mind me tagging them even if they're not interested to get some eyes on this and I'll start posting today!

Seraph: They're a 10 but they'll rat on you to the cops with no second thought.
Thalia: She's a 10 but once she starts talking about demons she will not stop.

OCs as "Tens But" Tag
Thanks for the tag, @catharticallysarcastic @talesofsorrowandofruin @yejiwritesthings and @eccaiia!
rules: list your ocs as “tens but” to give us a not at all comprehensive scope of their characters
I just did the War Machines last time, so this time I'll do the ones I didn't list!
Briar: he's a ten, but all his role models are robots and fictional superheroes
Margot: she's a ten, but you won't remember it unless she lets you
Proto: she's a ten, but she won't stop talking about her "missing component" and frankly it's a little weird
Ozz-rek: she's a ten, but her quest for a peaceful life is ripping her apart
Taa-bi: she's a ten, but she's somehow headstrong and impressionable at the same time
Beyy-ma: she's a ten, but she blends into the background until trauma breaks her out of her shell
Eleni: she's a ten, but she'll turn your mind into cotton and laugh about it
The Engineer: he's... he's a, um... he... I can't bring myself to call this man a ten I'm sorry
William Arrow: he WAS a nine (never a ten). But he got an order to develop anti-Pather weapons, and actually followed it. Then he gushed about them to Margot, a Pather, and uh...

all excerpts from at the bottom of the waterfall
RHYTHM //
“Oh. Yes.” They suffered a terse silence, Ysabelle resistant to nostalgia and Louis quite lost in it, but the aching in his expression spoiled her immunity for a moment. “You know,” Ysabelle cleared her throat, losing her rhythm and fighting awkwardness, “I actually stole the idea.”
Louis furrowed his brow.
“Yes. Shamelessly. But I was the clingy younger sister, and Seraphine graduated to magi years before I managed it. Naturally, I had to do everything the same way she did. I don’t know if she minded. Your mother was…” Ysabelle struggled to find a word.
When she couldn’t, Louis said, “You never talk about her.”
ROAR //
“I found something.”
Lo didn’t reply. They’d dissolved into fog. Dissolved into the spell.
“I found something,” she said again. Her revelation tasted like ash. “A, a patch of it, maybe, I think just across the river.” Black spots hovered her vision, so Ysabelle closed her eyes. “It’s small. I could, I could purge it from here. It hasn’t noticed me. I could…” She reached again—
Every choice you make belongs to us.
Immediately and relentlessly, Ysabelle roared into her Spark.
RACE BRACE //
Louis snorted. “And what the fuck do you expect to teach me?”
Fabian didn’t seem overly phased by the bite of the remark. “You were curious on the subject, and I wanted to show you. What you learn is up to you.”
“So, this is charity work?”
Then Fabian braced his jaw, and Louis caught the first glimpse of a motive, carefully guarded in the shade of his eyes. Fabian tried to answer, but he perhaps ran out of fancy words and long-winded distractions because he abandoned the effort and asked instead, “And what do you think this is?”
ROAM //
The door swooped open under his knuckles. Louis blinked to Fabian’s glowing smile and enthusiastic eyes. He was either coming home or leaving, dressed in a fitted jacket and sturdy shoes, a satchel hanging loose from his shoulder.
“Louis! I’m thrilled you decided to visit! Or, if you believe in fate, I would say you’re here right when you were meant to be. So, are you ready to go?”
It took a moment to overcome his bewilderment. “Um, go where?”
“To the chasms, of course! Nothing serious, just a bit of mild roaming. I’m returning this evening. And I encourage you to join me!”
“Right—right now?”
“Don’t gawp! You have everything you need—a strong heart and a good pair of shoes. Though, I’d usually recommend a hat to spruce up the image... but no worries. I’ll buy you one when we get there.” Fabian locked the door using a key around his neck. “Well? Would you like to come?”
RASH //
One moment shuffling around near the windows, Ysabelle appeared two steps down like a gentle breeze. She caught the slip of paper midair and then caught his gaze.
“Why are you so eager to travel south?”
Louis scoffed. “I think it’s obvious.”
“Obvious? Yes. And unoriginal.”
“My home is buried there.” He refrained from adding a cruel name. “Of course I want to go back.”
“To nothing? To a soiled memory?”
Louis glared at her. He had nothing to say. This conversation was familiar.
“Hm.” Ysabelle tapped the list to her chin. “If you’re so eager to explore the chasms, then I have empty luggage in the closet. But that’s a rather rash decision, given you’ll likely die there.”
GARDEN //
“And—” But Ysabelle cut herself short, something rarely done, and released her grip on the door handle. Frozen on her doorstep, she paused for a long, lingering moment, long enough to be sure. “Someone was here,” she uttered at last.
“Who someone?”
“I don’t know who someone. Someone not welcome. A nosy stranger, or another solicitor. You know I’m getting more long-winded letters from our darling archmagi. Three years later, and she stills thinks I give a damn about politics.”
Content with ignoring her, Lo peered over Ysabelle’s shoulder and considered the door. They had a soft face and smooth features, fluid and fluctuating and never quite the same between glances, but that was the nature of wisps. Lo was mostly mist and only a danger to her garden, and they seeped like a rolling fog over her coat sleeves.
ROSE //
Louis cringed, convinced it was a polished performance, and he really didn’t want to chat with two shopping bags crooked in his elbows. “Magi Lavonde is available through appointment only,” he tediously recited. “And she’s never interested in political solicitations, so if that’s your angle…”
“No, you misunderstand! I’ve a query for you.”
“Well, I don’t talk to strangers. Go away.”
The stranger chuckled. He removed his tall, pointed hat and swept it to his chest in a bow. Louis thought it was sarcastic until the stranger rose and gave himself a proper name and prestigious magician title.
“Fabian Daye?” Louis echoed. He narrowed his eyes. “Why does that sound familiar?”
DIRT // PLANT //
Ysabelle stood over the withering creature with ruthless eyes. “It’s here in this forest. Tell me where.”
“You ssearch for a monster living in your head.”
Ysabelle tightened her grasp, and all the plants around them sagged. The wisp gurgled on another insult.
“Tell me where.”
“Releassse me,” they choked.
Cold strangled her thoughts. Her breath frosted around her lips. Ysabelle chipped together an intention and fed the hate in her stomach.
But then the wisp said, “You could never find it anyway, corpsse. It already knowss you. It knowss your heartbeat. And it knowss your dirty, traitor friend too.” The wisp glanced around for Lo, but the coward was hiding as usual. “Jusst die and ssave it the trouble.”

My words: hands, murmur, hair, and mess
These snippets are from: Neon Glow in Gold Dust
Hands:
The elevator takes long enough for him to start becoming annoyed. By the time April’s reached the third floor (which is technically not the third floor on account of the fact a lot of the actual floors got knocked down), he’s already got the grate open and ready, sprinting down to the walkway to punch a code into the door to Ari’s workspace.
The first thing he’s rewarded with, per usual, is a rush of steam. He pays it no mind, slipping through the cloud into the main room, which is hot with the sensation of melting metal. He looks up to where what was once a floor has been replaced with a metal walkway and steps. He can see Ari there, leaning against the railing, his eyes are open and unseeing, lost in thought, hands clasped together as he absently cracks his knuckles.
He gives a small sigh, briefly locating Ember’s shock of red hair and realizing, with the closest he can feel to heartbreak, that he really does not have the time to even feel that hair beneath his touch. Besides, he really wants front row seats to the train wreck that is the Jordan-Close brothers. He presses his fingers into his mouth and whistles, loud and high over the few clangs of tools that the early morning brings.
Murmur:
N/A
Hair:
A polite knock at his door does not help the frustration he’s just managed to calm, lifting his tired head to utter an inflamed “come in.” Whilst he expects to tell whoever it is to fuck off and leave him alone, he eases his bad temper when he sees Edward stood there.
“April sent me up,” he utters, looking borderline terrified to be there. Ari sighs, closing his eyes. “He said you needed some help.” His eyes drift to the piles of folders and stray papers, and the bottle clutched like a lifeline in Ari’s hand. Drunkenly, the other man tries to stand, the desk creaking under his weight as he uses it as a crutch.
“I’m quite alright,” he mutters, pushing his hair out of his eyes and placing the bottle on the desk. “I just…need to figure out which order these are all in.” Edward straightens up a little.
“I-I can do that!”
“I really don’t need any-”
“I will do that,” Edward decides, nodding his head. “You just sit down, I will do it.”
Mess:
He was hoping, somehow, he’d have more time. As he steps into his bedroom and closes the door behind him, resting his head back against the wood. “I’m going to have to tell them today,” he utters softly, “…tonight.”
“Are you sure this is your mess to clean?” Alicia replies gently, her hand coming down from the hairband she’s tying out of cloth in her hair. Her eyes are full of worry, not just for her husband, but mostly. She’d always known this was the situation he’d been tied up in.
“I lied to them, the burden is as much mine as is his,” he pinches the bridge of his nose gently, before leaning up. “I can’t just push them together and leave them to figure it out, I can’t do that to Neptune.” Alicia seems to consider this a moment, before she nods, then she holds out her arms for him to come closer, wrapping them around him.
“They seem like an understanding person, you were put in a difficult position.”
“Would you forgive me, if it were you?”
“That’s hard to answer, I’d forgive you for anything.” He smiles warmly, resting his forehead against hers. She takes a deep breath in, and so does he. “Neptune knows that Ari was always a headstrong person, and you’re very important to them, so I think they will forgive you, but…" she trails off a moment “...don’t expect it, it’ll be hard work for something that may never come.”

SUMMARY
17-almost-18-year-old Ezra Thompson is tired of two things. First, is constant chatter about Dilemma, an all-boy rock band, led by the dreamy frontman Andre Robinson that somehow has a universal grip on every teenager in the world. Personally, Ezra doesn't see the appeal. Second, of all being valedictorian, Harvard-bound with an irresistible scholarship, and having parents who are conditionally proud of her. Ezra couldn't ask for a better life. Except she wants to. The thing is, Ezra can sing. Like really sing. Only her overbearing parents treat it as a juvenile hobby and she could never sing in front of people. Ezra couldn't possibly be a popstar, with millions of adoring fans. So for now, her shampoo bottles get front-row access to her once-a-night concert in the shower.
When her younger, spirited sister, Maria (self-proclaimed to be the biggest Dilemma fangirl) secretly signs her up for an audition to be on a singing reality show Finding Solstice, Ezra is mad but secretly grateful. What she doesn't expect is to actually pass the audition and be invited out to Los Angeles, for the reality show meant to discover the next global popstar. All Ezra has to do now is convince her parents to let her travel to Los Angeles for the summer.
Now thrust into the cutthroat music industry, suddenly Ezra is at the forefront of a whirlwind competition full of fame-hungry singers. Tasked with weekly competitions, all gunning for the same prize, Ezra must defend her love for music against the manufactured forces of the industry. What doesn't help is her blossoming romance with both another sweet-faced competitor and an unlikely run-in with a celebrity. With rising tensions in the competition, Ezra finds herself amid a burbling Hollywood scandal crusaded by a bloodthirsty blogger and must stay true to herself or be taken over by fame.
