OOOOOOO OKAY

So this isn't a main ship of mine, but I actually do really like it. Especially in the context of last nights episode. Although we don't see Tolkien in it- the whole context with the farms and exploring Stan and wealth has me thinking about them.

I understand that this may not be the popular interpretation of the pairing since Stan is down to earth, but i'm inclined to write/feel what I know soooooo let's go.

They could so work with the despondent wealthy youths spending money on fast cars just to feel something trope. I think Tolkien would handle it better, but take Stans dysfunctional upbringing/new found wealth/proximity to Tolkien. Do you know the song Super Rich Kids by Frank Ocean? Yeah.

Thinking about them as late teens/young adults exploring that strange distance where they relate to their peers, and are still down to earth, but also have many new privileges that wealth provides.

At some point they're going to enjoy it and let fucking LOOSE. Because maybe the stress at home is too much, and maybe their friends are being shitty, and it's really easy to blow off steam when you have a little extra cash. I like the idea of them getting lost in a wild youth, and maybe experiencing things together that feel disconnected from reality because they can AFFORD to disconnect from reality.

Of course in this- theres kindness and gentleness. These are good kids. So maybe it gets taxing, and although the sex and glamour of exploring new freedoms is fun, sometimes all they want is the simplicity of a trip to Starks Pond, or a night camping in the woods, sleeping in the bed of Randy's old farm truck. They can vent about expectations, and how much they want to live for themselves, not what their family expects. I see them really enjoying the outdoors, quality time over anything else, and a really stable romance.

Also MUSIC! They would 100% both be into making each other playlists of whatever they're feeling. I think they are both okay with words, but music translates better. They're in Tolkien's room with a vinyl on, just talking until 2am because they feel so comfortable with each other- and the silence with just a song in the background, and Tolkien playing with Stans hair is just as comfortable.

About language brainrot. Imagine writer creator reader who finally learns how to write in Teyvat's weird symbols and they want to publish their book. They decided to do it anonymously to avoid the "aaaaaah our creator wrote the holy scripture" sort of situation. Except it didn't work. The reader's style is too different from the rest of the world, so even if they tried to simulate the flowery speech it wasn't effective.

Another thing. Reader who decided to read some local books to practice their reading. They asked for something simple and similar to their speech. But the only books merely similar to it are 2000 and more years old. It's funny how the older text is the more you can understand it. On this note. If reader write something i feel like it would be hard to understand for Teyvat's people.

Imagine a reader who is autistic or has any other NDs imparing their communication skills. They practically trained themselves to say sertain phrases in sertain situation. But it doesn't work in Teyvat. And everything just stacks at each other. Difference in speech, being a God (so people react weirdly to you), bad communication skills, not understanding nonverbal cues and so on. There's gonna be a lot of misunderstanding. I imagine how followers would walk on the eggshells not to upset and angry their God and reader who does the same not to say something people will get wrong. Again.

Reader who regained all their memories of creating Teyvat, they're super powerful and stuff. But they still struggle with the modern language. Because all the memories are like millions years old.

I feel like your approach to criticizing a certain fandom was the wrong way of doing it. Don't get me wrong, you are a hundred percent right about the lack of representation for certain characters. But you had to have known that you would've gotten backlash for insinuating that the only reason that content is being made is because people are... misogynistic? The characters are well-written; that's why they get attention. The women are also well-written, you're right! But instead of getting mad at the people who enjoy specific characters, you could contribute to what you want to see in the fandom. Make fanfiction, make art, talk about your favorite ships, talk about your favorite characters, talk about the head-canons you have for them, connect with other fans of those characters, make AUs with them, make the fandom you want to see! But I don't know what you were expecting when you come out and say in the tags "you must be misogynists for liking these characters and you must be awful people for playing around with AUs" even though every fandom on this website does that. That was hostile and was only going to get a hostile response in return especially when you specifically put it in the tags for fans of those characters to see. Because it reads as you insinuating that fans of these characters existing is why you don't get any representation of your favorite characters. Or, alternatively, that everyone only likes certain characters because they're misogynists who hate women characters. People make content of them because they like them and because they want to make content of them.

Want more content of the things you want to see? Pay or support the artists and writers who make that content or start making it yourself. Its not helpful to complain that some characters get more attention than others but then make no attempt to contribute to it in any meaningful way. You cannot just get mad at people for liking characters and expect the fandom to magically decide its going to give you the content you want.

This is a long-winded way of saying you are correct in that the fandom seems to hyper-focus on some characters over others. But the way you approached that discussion was combative, hostile, and unhelpful, and you're not going to motivate a community into making content by being passive-aggressive to the people making the content they want to make. Be the change you want to see in the fandom, or support the artists and writers who make the content you want to see.

Its like... You can't complain your garden isn't growing if you're not watering it and not adding seeds, and instead are blaming everyone else for having plants in their gardens that you don't like.

okay so i KNOW what post you're referencing but i cannot fucking find it. but it's about grollis and qais's qpp. btw you want to read the last best dream by waveridden so bad (although this deviates from that somewhat, it's what got me thinking about them)

the exact post was something along the lines of, "aro ppl can write aro characters in relationships but if an allo person wants to do that they need an essay explaining why." and i added tags along the lines of "i could write this essay about grollis and qais, even tho it's not really romantic." which is funny because i've realized now that i'm probably arospec. but anyway. then i got this ask and went "wow! i should do that" and then couldn't find the time and energy to dedicate to it. but today my body is forbidding me from doing anything that isn't laying in bed and thinking about blorbos so here we go.

grollis was formerly in a qpp with yusef fenestrate and a friend group (brokyo) with yusef, coolname galvanic, val hitherto, and gerund pantheocide. ze naturally grew apart from them, especially when they got shadowed in season 20, and fell into a weird in-between state where ze didn't definitively know where ze stood with anything or anyone. blaseball is going up in flames, hyr personal relationships are full of ambiguity, and it doesn't seem like anyone in the world has a clue what's going to happen next. grol has never handled not knowing things very well. ze's not really good at going with the flow, but ze has literally no other choice now.

qais dogwalker is the captain of the miami dale and, like, the party guy. im convinced they've never made a plan for anything. it's a good temperament to have with blaseball. after the death of their partner jenna, qais sort of lost interest in dating. they're arospec and feel romantic attraction very, very rarely. and, despite feeling aromantic attraction more frequently, they never really got over the whole watching-their-girlfriend-die-in-front-of-them thing. they're not afraid of being open or forming relationships, and have tons of friends and acquaintances, but in the back of their mind, becoming "a thing" with someone leads them into a disaster zone. one of them will die. it's happened with a ton of the big blaseball couples: allison and kichiro, tillman and declan, caligula lotus and beck whitney (that one they got to witness first hand, with cali dying the day after the dale got beck in the feedback). it seems like every other week, the tabloids are reporting on how so and so has died or been alternated or feedbacked to a different team and how it's affecting their relationship with their friend/partner/whatever. subconsciously (and somewhat consciously), qais has a superstition that once The Universe is aware that you have someone you really like, romantically or not, one of you is going to die. and, again, qais has a ton of close friends. but they're all, like, the same level of close. qais doesn't have a best friend. and it's not like they're particularly upset about any of this, but sometimes it hits them that it would be super cool to have a special someone(TM).

so grollis is in a state of trying very desperately to fight against the current, so to speak, when ze meets qais. well, ze has technically met qais plenty of times when they were playing games against each other. but back then, qais was like... a celebrity. and technically grollis is too, but ze doesn't think of it like that. the lift's fans don't even like grollis. qais seems to be universally liked. loved, even. qais talks to people easily, doesn't ever seem to get nervous, and is comfortable with being the center of attention or on the sidelines. qais has a smile that stretches ear to ear and laughs easily. qais loves being at big loud parties and acts like socializing is the easiest thing ever. grollis set foot on the party yacht once and left about ten minutes in, and that was one of the sensory friendly parties. grollis doesn't really hang out with the dale, mostly because ze doesn't care too much for a team centered on partying, but also because there's not many places to meet them that aren't a game or overstimulating. qais remembers grollis as a pitcher for the lift, and... that's pretty much it. they could recognize grollis, but they never spoke. until...

neither of them really remember why or how they started talking; they just kind of did. but, it was during season 21 party time (hosted by the seattle garages). grollis had just gotten out of the shadows and was feeling more disconnected from hyr friends than ever. qais, however, had a very uneventful* season and was pretty damn bored. qais noticed grollis's patchwork coat and came up to hyr to ask where they got it. grollis reponded by telling them ze made it, and they got into a conversation about making clothes, then fashion, then so on and so forth. eventually, one of them had to leave, and grollis had enough courage to ask for their phone number. they began hanging out fairly often, and grollis became well-known amongst the dale. conversely, grollis didn't really introduce qais to any of hyr teammates, and many of them didn't know much about qais, or that they were even friends until much later. but engine eberhardt, the one person grollis still felt somewhat close to, mostly because she refused to let them "sulk in solitude," got to know qais. as did val, who ran the beef wings stand qais frequented.

both of them share common interests in fashion, detective media, urban exploration, "bad" movies and books, movies and tv shows in general, and trying new foods.

now. this is all well and good. but what do they gain from being in a qpp? what does it add narratively? well.

first off, qais has to come face to face with that subconscious-ish superstition. although they know jenna's death affected them, they didn't realize how much it still influenced their everyday decisions. because of their (aromantic) (i cannot stess the nature of this relationship enough) (there's a capital D Difference between romantic attraction and aromantic attraction. no i don't know how it works) attraction to grollis, qais has to decide whether or not they're going to let that superstition continue to inform how they make relationships. here's someone that would love to be their Special Someone(TM), but they have to get over the fear that something bad will happen. and that fear takes the form of, like, beginning to ghost grollis a little -- not enough that it's obvious, but there's that danger of becoming too close, and then The Universe hears and strikes you dead. so qais takes longer to respond, or sometimes just doesn't. but with the help of the lazarus pit and supportive teammates, they get to process All Of That more and get back to normal with grollis.

secondly, grollis strikes me as the type of person who wants a special someone. whereas qais would be totally okay being single forever, grollis wants to have someone that's hyr go-to. ze like having someone to cuddle and kiss and talk about movies with. although ze don't want romance, per se, ze wants a partner. and! having a partner that's not only able to go with the flow, but able to do so excitedly, really helps grollis feel more comfortable not always having a plan, or knowing how ze feels.

however. grollis and qais cannot live together. they tried around season ß1 and just couldn't. grollis needs a home to be a private place of refuge, while qais needs a home to be a community center for all of their loved ones that's open any time they need. that's just inherently not compatible. so they live apart and see each other often.

*i assume it was an uneventful season. i can't find much on the blb wiki that suggests otherwise

Daily WoF Designs - A Retrospective

Here we are! Three hundred thirty one designs, eleven months, and one very, very tired high schooler. I’m writing this at two am after finishing Freedom’s design and wow. Just. Wow.

In case you dont want to read all my sappy stuff and just want to know about the future of the blog- I WILL be posting new designs if any new characters are introduced in new books (the dragon guide, any future winglets, etc). I will also answer any asks. There just wont be any more designs for a while.

Onto the sappy stuff!

I got the idea of this while working on my Sirens animatic, because I thought to myself that a reference would be useful to have right about then. About a month later, I saw someone mention that one of those “drawing every warrior cats” blogs had finished (ive looked and cant find it anymore, but im sure I saw that post!). So, I got the idea in my head and wondered if this was a good idea because- really? four hundred designs? (in concept I was going to do the humans too. I decided against it partway through book 2)

So, who better to ask than my hashtag besties who I’ve known for years?

I immediately disregarded her, of course. But it’s the principle of the matter.

This was a project I started on the tail-end of quarantine, and it gave me something to do with myself once the school year started up and I went back to in person school for the first time since eighth grade. It was something to keep me grounded. I knew that if I had nothing to do, I could always knock out a few designs while listening to a video essay.

Even if theres some designs I’m not so proud of (looking at you, tsunami and deathbringer), I always enjoyed it. Trying to figure out how to make every character look interesting, how to go beyond “brown scales” or “black wings”. It helped me improve my character designing skills, that’s for sure. If I were to go back to some of my book one designs, I’d probably do things differently. But I know if I go back to redo book one, I’d end up redoing EVERY design. Best let sleeping dogs (or dragons!) lie.

Anyways, now that I’m here, I’d like to shout out followers (or just those who frequently interacted) that I noticed a lot. If I missed you, I’m very sorry- theres just SO many of you and I’d like to keep it short haha.

tbf it's isak. HAD TO BE HIM. gabby Jesus is a safe space cuz they both are PRINCESSES (too diva-ish im afraid, doesn't work as a romantic relationship but as buddies? yes - besides Martin likes tall men eyyyyyyyy). isak... wow. their banter... isak is so deadpan and sassy and actually loud. Martin has different personality when he's with his Norway teammates, and isak is from Sweden I guess their humour click better.

in my vanilla series, they were exes when they were younger, before Martin went to cambridge to study law and isak went to MIT. I haven't written this, buuuuuut I think they broke up because of the distance lmao.

so i saw your fic wayy earlier in the morning today, i accidentally scrolled past it bc i was searchin for something specific in the mike tag but the name must've stuck with me. i go onto ao3 wayyy later in the night and i see it and im like 'oohh i remember this i should check it out!!'

this is genuinely such a good fic i have been yelling to each and every one of my friends about it for the past 30 minutes(as one does when he finds a good piece of media online, whether his friends are in the fandom or not) and I CANNOT GET OVER IT!! the way you write is SO fun to read, and i absolutely love taxi!! idk if you've had this oc for a while or if you made em for the fic, (btw, what's taxi's pronouns? for some reason i can't find them anywhere) but either way TAXI IS SO INTERESTING. their family's naming conventions, their possible backstory, and their kinda hilarious fear of zombies is just SO... i don't even know how to put it, i just love em

We made Taxi specifically for the fic, but we have been working on everything since February, so it has been a while in that regard lol.

As for pronouns... We have no idea. Taxi has pronouns of some variety, but neither coauthor knows. We could not decide, and at this point we have committed to never referring to Taxi with pronouns, not cuz Taxi doesn't have them, but because we do not know lol. So no worries on not being able to find them, that's intentional XD

I'm glad you like Taxi! Taxi is super fun to write. Literally just a random person who gets dragged into the insanity that is this franchise lol. The planning doc is literally "Taxidermist is the best FNAF character" or something, so glad to know we're on the same page there lol

As for Mike, glad you're liking the direction we're taking with him! And yeah, I know I don't want to deal with maggots, and I don't think Liz wants to deal with maggots, so he gets to deal with Not That lol

I don't know if people really understand the effect simple things have on others. As a fanfiction author, yes I write my weird little stories for myself, but once you get a comment or a kudos or a vote or whatever it may be, everything sort of shifts.

It gains a sense of responsibility yes, but it also gains a new excitement. For example, we've all been that little kid scribbling away with a crayon. We're going to do other similar crayon drawings, but nothing feels as good as showing that little picture to your parent, guardian, or whoever else. I and the other authors/artists are that little kid with the crayon drawing.

If you leave a comment, I will always remember that. Even if it's just 'good chapter.' or 'im about to commit murder 😃🔪' or '❤️❤️❤️'. Authors and artists remember these things!! If you are one of the people who leave essay comments, I have to sit down and take a minute to calm down enough to have a coherent reply. You dear friend, are wonderful.

If you keep coming back or leave multiple comments, I REMEMBER YOU!! I may even consider you a fandom friend or in Tumblr language, a mutual! I see you!!!!!

If you make art, or a story of your own, or make a translation,,,,,, I would die for you. I save the art. I look at it. I downloaded it to my camera roll and favorite it. I read your fic. I comment on it as well. I recommend your translation in the authors note because that may be more convenient for people to read.

I try to express just how much it means to me that you did any of the above things especially the things in the last paragraph. The words don't word. I end up going, "I absolutely love it!!!!!!!!" And "jteaykrsktrsotaptd" and it doesn't work. Well, not entirely. That may send the message across mostly. You see that on your side of the screen and on my side, you would see me pacing, talking to myself about how wow that is amazing and so sweet and oh my heck I would die for you, and doing a weird jazz hands thing and putting my hand over my heart, and sitting down because I need a minute-, and I never forget.

It makes me want to do so much more. It makes me love my weird little creation that much more and grants motivation. I ALWAYS remember. And I think about it all the time. And when I post more I think, 'oh, I hope this meets their expectations and I hope they like it!!' And 'wow I'm getting better at this, I wonder if they noticed?' And 'wow I love and appreciate you so much!'

Even if it's a little thing, it means the world to us little crayon drawing people.
