Re my recent post on that matter... I somehow think woodruff would be a good Middle-earth flavour. Probably rather uncommon for Men, other than as a “ah, we walk in the woods in May” smell. Elves probably use it for special wines or something to celebrate the beginning of Summer... Hobbits, on the other hand, use it just for anything: dessert, ice cream, etc. Including syrups that last throughout the entire year.
