Summary: Lazy day with Martin, taking the break you desevre

Warnings: None

Notes: This isn't the Martin fic I was talking about, this is different. That one is coming but yall need to be fed so. I was listening to Until I Found You by Stephen Sanchez and Em Beihold while writing this and its really short. (I was also pretty sad when I wrote this and in need of comfort so um, sorry)

Today was just one of those days where you just didn't want to move. The only issue with that was you were currently using your boyfriend, Martin, as a pillow and he would most definitely need to do at least something today. You sighed, taking in the peaceful moments you had before he woke up. You moved your arm toward the ceiling, something you found yourself doing sometimes whilst laying down.

"Oh, you're awake! Good!" You tilted your head back to meet eyes with him, seeing him wide awake. You were suddenly overcome with guilt, thinking you woke him up - even though you barely moved a muscle. "Oh, I didn't mean to wake you up, Im sorry Martin. Go back to sleep, please. I'll get out of the hammock-" He effectively cuts you off by tapping your nose.

"Oh let me hold you, please. I think we both need a break for at least a bit." He practically begs whilst holding you tighter, his body seeming more comfortable than before. You let out a content sigh before closing your eyes and nodding a bit. "That sounds great."

After a while of not seeing his brother or you, Chris decided he should at least look for you two, knowing all the mischief you two can cause. He walked into the main space in the Tortuga before looking around, seeing Aviva, Koki, and Jimmy Z but not you or Martin. "Where are the lovebirds?" All three of the Wild Kratts crew turned to shush him. Aviva pointed to the blue hammock the couple often shared. Chris looked at it and then smiled at what he saw.

Just you and Martin snuggling close, having the day off you both earned.

Rosa Martín character sheet Wild kratts self insert/oc

She is a brunette but dyed her hair pink after playing the game Celeste ( ;D ) and since she related to Madeline’s determination and struggles.

She worked as a fashion illustrator (this was inspired by the fashion illustration class I took last year) for Donita after showing Donita some illustrations she had made from Donita’s clothing and other designs based on them…but once Rosa realized the animals on the fashion clothing Donita was talking about, that she had been illustrating and designing during her job that she had been in for some months, were not plastic or robots but were actually alive she secretly worked against Donita to release the animals, releasing them with her secret hero identity “Lady Scarlett bird” (with a costume looking like a mix of a detective’s trench coat and a hero costume with a design based on the lovebird). She is still working with Donita as a fashion designer and photographer but now it is also to gather information and save the creatures as her secret hero identity.

However, one day, she met the wild kratts. She had been fighting again with Donita as she always does while in her Scarlett bird persona but she realized it was getting more and more difficult with Donita’s pose beams that Donita had gotten from Zach as a gift after the Villain seminar to try to salvage his image…after he had vomited the shrimps in front of her. Little did Scarlett Bird know that just when Donita was about to unmask her, the wild kratt were there to save the day but were surprised to see a new face, and someone dressed like a superhero at that. They saved the creatures and released the hero. Scarlett wouldn’t reveal her secret identity but she was grateful and told them everything. She then showed them the geckos she had hid in her pockets that she had grabbed from Donita and that Scarlett was going to release back into the wild.

That, combined with Scarlett being caught in a posebeam and struggling to get out convinced them that she was on their side. They tried to get her to join them but she refused. She liked staying undercover since she would be able to save more creatures and also since photography and art were her true passions alongside protecting creatures.

The wild kratt crew understood but before she left Aviva gave Rosa something that would make being Scarlett easier. She got a new suit of a similar design to the original but now the wings could glide and she had special boots that let her dash short distances to glide fast, like Madeline from Celeste, and that let her climb on many surfaces like a lovebird could. Rosa was overjoyed and hugged Aviva. Then she quickly left back to Donita’s Jet.

She sneaked into the window leading into her room and hid her new upgraded costume at the back of a Messy drawer that she had filled full of books and work supplies which would make it a nightmare for anyone except her to find anything in (kind of like Martin lol). She checked the door which was still locked (she made up a lie about her needing it locked to keep her concentration up and keep her creative flow going when actually it was so she could keep her secret identity) and she pretended to have always been diligent at work on her new designs. Later, Rosa came out of her room/office pretending to be really stressed out from “Whatever those crazy crashing sounds were”. She just saw Donita on her fancy pink couch grumbling over Kratt brothers and a Scarlett Bird, but she just kept walking since she was just a humble, small town, fashion designer and photographer ;) and none of that had anything to do with her ;) ;) She went to the airplane’s kitchen to make some dinner for herself and called it a night.

I was not expecting this to become a mini fanfic but i’m happy :) . I’m going to be making her character design later in both Rosa Martín form and Scarlett form. I have so many ideas for her design, I can’t wait :D !!

Aviva smells like lavender, fresh and wild. She smells like oil and metal and that fruity body spray she shares with Koki that the two insist on stocking up on whenever they’re in Germany. Black coffee and espresso shots and energy drinks, she smells like too much to do and not enough sleep. Gears turning and a fire burning in her belly, a desperate fight to make sure her hard work will one day pay off and her legacy will be remembered. Constantly striving to be better; a better inventor, a better friend, a better human. The same hand lotion Chris uses, but she is humble enough to admit that it smells like fresh cut grass. Pride and confidence and the skills to back them up.

And yes! @celestetheseaunicorn also requested Aviva, and you both are so right, we have to give Aviva a butterfly just a unique and wonderful as she is!

I honestly wanted to assign her a yellow butterfly, but I feel like we need a purple butterfly for her because that’s the color of her creature power suit! So for Aviva, the world’s greatest inventor…shhh don’t tell Zach!… We have the….

The Colorado Hairstreak (Hypaurotis crysalus)! 

I know I just did a hairstreak for Paisley, but the Colorado Hairstreak is such an awesome butterfly! I could not pass on the opportunity to assign this beautiful creature to Aviva!

A few factoids about this interesting insect! Below the cut!

1)This butterfly is of the genus Hypaurotis and it is the ONLY species in this genus! The butterfly earns it name from the state of Colorado in the United State: the Colorado Hairstreak was designated the state insect in Colorado in 1996. So this butterfly, in many ways, has made a name for itself, just like Aviva has through her thoughtful and creative inventions!

2) The butterfly can be found throughout the Southwestern United States, extending into northern Mexico. Gambel Oak trees located in this region are a major part of this butterfly’s life cycle. They lay their eggs on the leaves, the caterpillars eat the leaves, and once they have transformed into butterflies, they use the trees as a location to roost. The Colorado Hairstreak, then, enjoys the dry, sunny, desert like environment just as much as Aviva!

3) As with a few of the other butterflies included in this series, this butterfly does not feed on flower nectar. Instead, the butterfly feeds on tree sap and honeydew, and I don’t mean the melon! Honeydew is also a sugar based liquid produced by ants and other insects. The butterfly, then, is an unconventional eater, as Aviva is an unconventional inventor, in the best of ways!
