So uh, if you want to know what Wizards of the Coast is up to, they allegedly sent the Pinkertons (a private security guard, which is a fancy way to say for-hire thugs) to the person who leaked a Magic: The Gathering set. Who wasn't under a NDA or anything (not that it'd justify said measures).

The Pinkertons went to his home, threatened to put him in jail, seized a bunch of his stuff and made his wife cry.

Anyways, uh, I wonder if there's still gonna be bootlickers trying to defend WOTC on this?

There are a lot of perfectly reasonable complaints to level against Wizards of the Coast, but I legitimately don't think any of them are ever going to supplant "sent the Pinkertons to a guys house".

‘Mystic Remora’ releases as a print Thurs 15th Jun, 12PM (PT) 🌊 This was probably the coolest piece I did for Magic the Gathering: Secret Lair collection! I remember when I first got the brief I was shocked… how the hell was I going to paint a creepy looking fish in my style, let alone make it mystical?

Remora fish have this strange shaped suction cup atop their head. Which made me think… what if the pattern of the suction cup head was instead magical runes! And so,  after all sorts of trial and error, I managed to make something that kept true to my style and fit within the world of Magic — a sorceress of the sea drawing upon the the magical powers of her companion, a mystical runed remora.

Wizards of the Coast has (once again) used AI for their products

I won't get too lenghty with this, but... Yeah. Wizards of the Coast had released a statement promising to not use AI, mentioning they value artists, etc. Except they didn't take long to show (again) they are not keeping any promise.

There were some more AI-made pictures in this ad campaign (in other languages), and so far they simply denied it was AI made and... kept posting ads for Magic The Gathering and ignoring any backslash. People have mentioned that these did probably get touched-up by an artist to hide some of the AI artifacts, but a good bunch were left over on the way.

Anyways, I don't think this is surprising at all. I just wish people stopped putting their trust (and money) on a company that is constantly getting into scandals. Don't forget the OGL, don't forget the Pinkertons.
