100) For my hundredth publication, I've decided to suggest one of those movies that you could watch dozens of times and never get tired of it. I'm talking about Fargo, by Joel & Ethan Coen. A desperate car salesmen hires two criminals to kidnap his wife in order to extort a ransom from his wealthy father in law. But things start to get serious after some incidents. I must say that probably this is one of the rare cases of a perfect movie. The direction by Coen bros is impeccable, some shots and camera moves are so precise that it's hard not to say that, from an aesthetic point of view, this is a masterpiece. Contrasting colours, in particular red and white, the cinematography by Roger Deakins is as always fantastic, characters depicted in a strong way, in which every decision they take will have consequences. This little town of Minnesota, is witnessing some bloody homicides, and the only one capable of resolving the case is a police officer interpreted by Frances McDorman (Oscar winner). Every single actor here is simply awesome in his role, also The Coens add a little bit of black humour in the story, without sounding overwhelming. A cult movie that received critical acclaim shouldn't be missing from your collection.
