"Stati di allucinazione" (Ken Russell, 1980)

Ispirato alla vita dello psichiatra statunitense John Lilly, "Stati di allucinazione" è tra i film più interessanti sulle sperimentazioni scientifiche. Protagonista è Eddie Jessup (interpretato dal bravissimo William Hurt) uno scienziato intenzionato a scoprire le origini della coscienza umana, utilizzando una vasca di deprivazione sensoriale e assumendo alcune droghe allucinogene, in modo tale da isolare il cervello da ogni stimolo esterno e portando la coscienza stessa in uno stato primordiale.

Un esperimento rischioso per la salute psicofisica di Eddie ma allo stesso tempo affascinante. Talmente tanto che lui stesso ne sarà ossessionato.

Ken Russell è noto per le sue opere visionarie e oniriche, tra cui l'indimenticabile "I diavoli" che a mio parere resta il top della sua filmografia. Avevo già recuperato "Stati di allucinazione" tempo addietro ma non mi aveva convinto appieno, forse per la complessità dei temi utilizzati o per la presenza di parecchie sequenze psichedeliche che mi avevano fatto storcere un po' il naso. A distanza di anni invece, sono rimasta letteralmente ipnotizzata da questa pellicola che mi ha ricordato a tratti il capolavoro di Cronenberg "La mosca", tra body horror, mutazioni genetiche e metafisica. Un fanta horror davvero imperdibile soprattutto per gli estimatori del genere.

There have seemingly been countless adaptations of #RobinHood over the decades. 🎯 From Errol Flynn to Kevin Costner to Cary Elwes, and everyone in between. One of the seemingly forgotten ones was this 2010 film directed by #RidleyScott and streaming on @hboasia. ➡ You'd think reuniting with his Gladiator co-conspirator @russellcrowe, they'd have made a killing, but this film apparently didn't reach those heights. This star-studded version includes #CateBlanchett as Marian, #OscarIsaac (before becoming a star) as Prince John, @mrmarkstrong as Godfrey, #MarkAddy as Friar Tuck, @thekevindurand as Little John, #WilliamHurt as Marshal, and #MaxVonSydow as Walter Loxley. It's a slightly different take on the Robin Hood legend but the basic elements are there.
