one thing i love is how attentive will is to james. every time james is in the room, it's like will laser-focuses on the guy. he pays so much attention to the little details, james' micro-expressions.

but at the end of dark heir, there's none of that. will doesn't notice if james' lips are quirking, doesn't notice if james looks and sounds genuine. doesn't notice how james is parroting his every command.

he's so caught up in how it feels to finally, finally, have someone on his side, someone who knows the truth and still chooses to stand by him, to believe in him and the person he could be.

that he just. doesn't see it. doesn't see it at all when any other time, he probably would have. he doesn't see it, and when he finally does, it's too late.

So I devoured Dark Heir in one day as I knew I would lol so many fic ideas. But also. I remember the wait between Prince’s Gambit and Kings Rising and all the theories people had… an elite time. So what are some of the theories for Book 3?

I have more questions than theories if I am honest, but I’ll throw some out.

The Sun King will be the final enemy. Many questions on who he is though, is he Reborn, is he a character we already know?

I don’t think the Collar is “corrupting” James’ thoughts, I think he is genuinely on Will/Sarcean’s side precisely because he “remembers everything”.

A bit confused by Devon at the moment but I am sure he will play a bigger role towards the end. He has forgotten some of it but he is the only character who has seen/lived through everything.

Also confused by Violet vs Tom… I think they will fight on the same side eventually even if Pacat loves siblings fighting.

Curious to hear people’s thoughts!!

Well, first off, Cyprian’s character did not improve…

Honestly all the Stewards have been hella annoying except for Ettore and maybe Marcus.

Visander and Sarcean plus Phillip!?!? So delicious. I surmised some of the plot twists but totally missed ‘Sandy’. No wonder Visander felt pulled towards Phillip on the ship. But also who doesn’t love our savior Phillip?

So, dude, Sarcean was just going at all of ‘em in the past huh? Anharion, the Queen, and Visander? No wonder they all want him dead lmao!!! Luckily Katherine is gone and Will can focus on James. 😉 (but also that would have been incestuous—tbh this whole book is so incestuous)

I am disappointed by Violet, but then what’s a story without some friendship drama and misunderstandings. I have a feeling she’ll come around sooner rather than later though. She’s the only one who noticed that Will was truly focused on the ‘war’ and not being all Dark King.

James breaks my heart. He’s really the other side of the coin, just like Will. Betrayed by adults and betrayed by friends from a very young age. Talk about trauma. And now he has to prove himself to Will. Sigh. Damn.

And Will… that ending… it’s such a shame that it’ll probably take a whole other book or two for him to realize that James chose him on his own before he got Collared. They’re gonna need to work that out. I really hope James isn’t going to lose all of his personality.

Will is such a badass character. Like for real. This is not one of those books that keep saying how awesome a character is but never actually demonstrates it. Will is the King!!! He is actually smart and powerful.

He’s definitely the ‘King’ in the prophecy, right??
