every time i play this game it just reminds me of earth 2, but like... modern.
the thing that sticks out most (apart from the whole let's create a colony on another planet to escape the hell of earth and oh no there's aliens here we need to learn to live in harmony with thing) is fucking lum.
it's such a weird insight into what season 2 would've been like with the new macho asshole leader guy the network wanted to bring in. overthrowing him gives me closure to my years of anger over that honestly.
i need to do more to understand the gardeners as well, but there's that sense of it being a living planet or some hivemind or something? and it's so very terrians.
e2 didn't have the time loop or insight into other lives but i feel like sol and uly have a similar role at least, in having insight to these grander planes of existence.
e2 having a merge of classes--devon being a rich girl, danziger being a drone, etc--makes it feel like when the helios and stratos merged too and navigating all of those conflicts. it makes me kinda sad we didn't get to see how the colony ship landing would've changed up dynamics in the show.
like if the eden advance expedition had had more people, or maybe landed the way it was supposed to, it would've felt so much like this and it's just rly nice to get that.

James: You know, Nia, you should really consider Ace's point of view in all this!
Nia: really.
Nia, unspoken: (you can consider someone else's point of view?? after running away like this???)
James: Yes, really-! He was built to race, and he's not bound by tracks or rails like you and me. No wonder he talks about being 'free and easy', and-
Nia: well, I suppose that does explain him being so reckless!
Ace, in the background: OI, I CAN HEAR YOU TWO!

Consider Remmy with a borrower darling. They found one of his doll houses and take the real food from inside for their own dinners and eventually leave him a 'thank you' note despite it being against the rules.
Maybe Remmy thinks his dolls have come to life. Maybe they find out about their new little borrower friend. All he knows is that he finally has someone who enjoys his cooking, enjoys his art, and enjoys his care (as far as he's concerned)
They knew they shouldn't have taken a thing.
The more they borrowed from him, the more questions would run rampant in the mind of the human living in that room. He seemed a little strange a first glance, but relatively harmless over all. It was quick for the tiny person to see he carried more about his dolls and the houses they lived in than himself - sacrificing hours of his day to tend for them, barely leaving any for himself. New clothing, fully functioning appliances, freash food. He worked so hard on everything - it was such a shame to see the real dishes he made for his dolls go to waste. Portions of that size weren't much to a human, but to the borrower it was a feast.
Borrower Darling allows curiosity and their hunger to take control as they happily gorge on the food left behind by Remmy. It was unlike any of the crumbs or scraps of food they scrounged for before stumbling upon his home - leading them to wolf down the entire meal leaving nothing to take back with them. Exhausted from their travels and all the food they stuffed themselves with, Borrower Darling decides to take a nap in one of the bed Remmy sit up for his dolls. It was like sleeping on a cloud. What was supposed to be a quick nap had them in an almost comatose state until the next morning. Remmy wakes up bright and early every day to clean the dollhouse table of the meals he provided the previous evening. His surprise upon finding the table to be empty was stark, but it was nothing compared to the love he felt at first sight of the small human next to his most precious doll.
Another doll? No, the blankets moving in time with each of Darling's breathes proved it if their features weren't proof enough. Like a little angel.... Remmy pinched himself several times to make sure he wasn't dreaming. He feared taking his eyes off them as if they'd vanished into thin air the second he looked away, but - what if they're hungry when they wake up? He isn't sure when they snuck into his home, but it had to be sometime last night - meaning it's been some time since last ate. How did the poor thing feed themselves before they came across his home?
Remmy quietly leaves the room, making quick work of cooking something else for darling to enjoy. He places the food in the dollhouse before going back to bed as if he hadn't seen a thing - setting up his phone atop his bookshelf at the perfect angle to peer into the kitchen windows. He wouldn't want to frightened Darling, considering how hard they tried to make themselves invisible hiding beneath the doll and the bed's sheets to go unnoticed. He faces the wall as his excited gets the best of him, gripping his pillows for dear life to keep himself from leaping out of bed at the wrong time.
Darling is awoken by the aroma of a fresh meal. Sunlight blinds them as it reflects from the mirror within the bedroom they're in. How long had they been asleep?.... Had that human noticed them? All that food they ate last night - yet their stomach howls for them to find out what was waiting in the kitchen. Peering out the windows, Remmy still seemed to be asleep. They hurried downstairs, making quick work of the dish while being mindful enough to take some back with them. Guilt sets in as it finally crosses their mind that they've eaten all the food Remmy has left out for his dolls - not them. They remembered spotting a crayon and notepad in one of the upper room floors. Right next to the bedroom they'd slept. The room where he favorite doll was put to rest every evening.
"Thank you, Remmy <3 All your love and hard work has brought me to live! I'm too shy to move while you're awake, but I'm watching over you every night.
<3, Maribelle."
The note was enough to bring Remmy to tears. Maribelle was the first doll his grandmother ever gave him. Darling must've heard her name as he told her and the rest of his dolls how much he loved them. How long had they been scurrying around his home? He hasn't proofed the rest of the house for them yet! More tears doll as he watches the recording of Darling dragging Maribelle to the kitchen table, tucking the note beneath her folded arms before making their escape out the nearest window.
He super glued it shut that same afternoon.
It wasn't to keep them out or to trap them inside. What if it falls on them while they're leaving? He seals off a few more windows and adds some frences to the fireplace so they can't crawl out that way either. It's only for their safety. The front door will be wide open for whenever they return. From his memory and the video tape maybe he could even tailor some of the clothing he made for his dolls to fit them. He'll spruce up the furniture as well, and maybe add a few more house plants so Darling can really feel at home. He'll make everything absolutely perfect for them. They already appreciate this much from him. If he does everything just right they'll never want to step foot out of his home again.....
A guy could dream...and maybe with enough dreaming all his wishes will come true.

Time for Aus :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Poster/ desings are not final)
Details:
Eclipse:
Takes place after crystallized, the ninja have recovered their powers and got back to the status quo.
Rumors start spreading on the Internet that Kai is actually useless because he's never defeated a supervillain on his own. Kai gets insecure about his worth to the rest of the team, acting more and more rashly out of the need to prove himself. However, everyone else thinks he's overreacting for attention, so in a mission with Lloyd and Nya, after trying too hard and messing up, they snap at him, thinking he just wants to regain his popularity disregarding people's safety.
Much later, Kai is injured on a solo mission and is saved by a mysterious woman (the villain) who secretly aims to manipulate him to turn against the ninja and Ninjago as a whole, taking advantage on his past hardships as a child and his current mixed feelings towards them. She uses dark magic (sort of like Clause) to take and amplify what little is left of the corruption from Chen's elements staff into a mask, to slowly make his own thoughts turn against them all, eroding him from inside out.
At first she convinces him to become a kind of vigilante, killing criminals who might have used him in the past under said mask as Akatora ("Red Tiger"), steadily growing more corrupted.
Once the ninja discover Akatora's true identity, they believe he's being forced to betray them and try to "save" him, which only angers Kai further for not realizing how badly they've treated him.
But when they realize that they're at fault, the team splits in two: Cole, Jay and Pixal can't see a way of saving Kai on time before he self-destructs and takes the entire city down with him; while Lloyd, Nya and Zane try to get him back at all costs.
At first, the villain didn't care which elemental master to use to get the ninja to destroy the city. But upon finding out more about Kai's past, she decides the Ninja are no good for him and wants to "save" him, to get him out of that toxic environment. She even confronts them more than once after taking him under her wing. However, later on she changes her mind...
I have many more details but this is all I'll say for now. I want to make it a realistic and morally grey season where neither the ninja nor Kai are the villain, because the ninja do love Kai, they just have to show it. Also Kai's corruption is going to be slow where you don't really know how of it is Kai's true intentions.
On the road:
This AU is set years after Kai and Nya's parent's disappearence. Despite still living at the blacksmith off Kai's odd jobs, the siblings are fairly neglected by the townspeople of Ignacia. After getting seriously beat up in a fight with some kids who had been passive-agressively bullying Kai for years, they go a little too far by almost killing him and threatening to do the same to Nya. Kai is forced to abandon the hope of their parents ever returning and leaves for Ninjago City with Nya, hoping for a better life.
After travelling for a while they stumble across Ronin. They somehow convince him to take them in for a while in his rudimentary shed and to teach Kai how to hunt and be more self-sufficient for the journey. In the meantime, Nya shows off her handiwork, making toys off scraps for Ronin to sell as thanks. When they decide to part ways, Ronin gives them a map, setting them on the right direction (he's no babysitter, but hey, he actually cared).
Days later, Nya finds a hungry and weary Lloyd along the way, lost after escaping Darkleys and looking for his uncle Wu. After some convincing from Nya, they agree to take him in and start travelling together, eventually bonding and becoming a found family.
The Au is mostly about their (fun) little adventures and Kai being an overstressed mom trying to keep their younger siblings alive and relatively out of trouble (but don't worry, he's actually enjoying it).
In the end, after having taken their shot in Ninjago, they find Wu and are taken in at the monastery. Yes, Wu is actually a good uncle here. They deserve it. Especially Kai.
Kai is 13, Nya 11 and Lloyd 9 (older than canon, no tomorrow's tea)
Feel free to ask any questions about the aus.

What are the weirdest facts about Halo you know. Like just absurd stuff. I mean there’s the worm mechs but I wanna know if there’s more
ALRIGHT let's see what I can remember off the top of my head before I have to leave for the day:
Once upon a time in the most ancient space days before the Halos were fired, everyone in the galaxy thought the San'Shyuum were incredibly sexy.
A scrapped enemy from the early Halos was a gigantic, lumbering one-eyed creature that they were thinking was a whole species the Covenant weaponized. The Sharquoi would later be used as a forgotten Forerunner weapon in a novel that are hive-mind controlled from this metal crown that will dig into your brain.
It's a kind of widely known fact about them, but the Forerunners as a species reached a point where they were not considered to be actual adults until their bodies had been extensively augmented, and it was a signifier of importance and status to go through multiple mutations over the course of their lives. (Which is why they are so radically different from one another in size/shape/appearance.)
The way the Librarian found out about how the Forerunners genocided the Precursors was by traveling out to where it happened and finding a planet where there was a population of Forerunners that had been surviving without technology for tons and tons and tons of generations. (They conveyed this information to her by biting her, so that the bacteria their ancestors had genetically engineered to contain memory and information could teach her about it.)
We have one canonical example of a smart AI living for a very long time... and it's because he was actually two AIs in a trenchcoat who would switch which personality was in charge while the other one went out to live in the internet-of-things between space tractors and cropdusters for a while to recharge.
Jiralhanae smell. They communicate tons of information through scent/pheromones, and are noted to stink noticeably when they're scared.
The Unggoy are a very musical people. They have a 42-storey high building in their capital city dedicated just to the musical arts.
The way the Covenant found the mech worms in the first place was that the Lek'golo worms were eating Forerunner technology and they did not like that, but then they figured out that SOME of them would just eat AROUND the technology so they had an Arbiter negotiate with them and get them to help kill off the other kinds. Normal Covenant stuff.
Huragok are actually living tools created by the Forerunners for building and maintaining stuff. There were once some Huragok that were used by Forerunner Lifeworkers that could work with living tissue the way other Huragok work with machines, but they were all wiped out. (...One does show up in a book but shshhhh I'm trying to keep this simple.)
Ideas of the "ideal female body" humans have are based on the Librarian's appearance because she messed around with genetically implanting stuff into humans so much.
The way you euphemistically talk about Sangheili groups that let their women fight more than is conventionally allowed is you say they have a "strong protector-of-eggs tradition."
The whole splinter population of Sangheili I mentioned recently that didn't want to joint he Covenant, so they went and hid in a Forerunner structure and succeeded for several thousand years.
The planet Onyx where the Spartan-IIIs were trained was actually secretly a Forerunner shield world. Now that it's been brought back into normal space, it takes up most of that solar system. The inner surface of the sphere will take generations of work to explore because it is so large.

BYLER SPACE OPERA AU MOODBOARD
MIKE WHEELER is a senator's son that fell from grace soon after the forced disappearance of his best friend, Will Byers. All too aware that there would be no justice for his friend, or for any of the other missing persons, Mike eventually took it upon himself to find him, wherever he may be. Having fled with a ship he helped modify for off-the-radar travel, he sails the starry seas tirelessly, year after year, trading his hard-earned skills for any information that may lead him back to the light. And though his mission is to find his friend, he's managed to earn himself quite the reputation in the bounty hunting world, too. Mike may come from a high-seated and affluent family, but make no mistake: he cuts the rot from the rind of every village he passes through, and has an uncanny ability to sniff out all that isn't right. It isn't within him to turn a blind eye to evil or those in need of help. What drives him to search for Will is exactly what drives him to aid others: his heart, his undying belief in a better galaxy, and his contempt for the great many that do nothing. He's allied himself with what remains of the now-disbanded Hellfire Club, but mostly travels alone with only his repurposed astromech droid, DST-1N, to keep him company. It's lonely—this life that he's made for himself. So much so that sometimes he thinks he can hear Will come through on the radio, humming a tune from their childhood to soothe his aching heart. Will never responds, not ever, but that's okay, because Mike's coming. He doesn't care what DST-1N, or Lucas, or anyone says. Will is out there—alive. He just has to find him.
WILL BYERS was the first of many forced disappearances in Hokkins, targeted for reasons that still remain unclear. He doesn't remember much of his home-planet, or that ill-fated night. In fact, he doesn't remember much of anything. The life he'd once had, and what recollection of it may have survived, slips through his fingers like little grains of sand—the same sand that makes up his new home now, and wedges itself into every nook and cranny of his existence. All that Will knows is the blistering sun overhead, the strange girl that begs him in that stern, but endlessly wide-eyed way of hers to not question this life they share, and the rules they're to follow if they wish to see another day. Eleven, he soon finds out, won't tell him the origin of his scars, or even the origin of him himself, but she does tell him about other things—about how to listen to the world around him, how to harness the light that lives within him, and how to keep the dark of night from creeping in (even if, sometimes, she looks at him like he's the dark they need to look out for). In turn, he teaches her how to create things, about the joys of music, and how to make a life of what they've been given. Most days, it's enough. He tells himself that when they manage to barter enough scraps for a piece of fruit to share, or come across a particularly fiery redhead and her much-adored hoverboard. He tells himself that when their shack becomes a home, and when scared strangers become friends, become siblings. Still, he dreams. Somewhere out beyond his reach is a world full of luscious green and bountiful life. A world where there's someone to ruffle his hair and fuss over him; to make room when he climbs into their bed after a nightmare, and encourage him when no one else will; to play and learn and grow with him, and make hushed promises that they never wanted to break. He sees them in the flames sometimes—those someones. Most of the time it's a woman with a worn face and trilling voice, begging him to please talk to her. Other times… it's a man. Freckle-faced, with a dark, unruly mane and a fierce gaze—a gaze that softens and turns watery whenever he feels as time and space bend to bring them together, and their hearts beat in sync to play the same wild drumming song. His sister tells him that it isn't real—that these are illusions meant to trick him and tempt him back to the hell she plucked him from, but—but Will knows them. He knows with heart-shattering clarity that his dreams and the light do not deceive him. He knows that man, and he knows in some inexplicable way that he would never hurt him—that the woman, too, would never in her life hurt him. He knows them, and yet… he hides. Because he knows, too, that there's a reason his sister keeps him hidden from the world. There's a reason she keeps him close to the flames at night, why he remembers nothing, and why it is so important that it stays that way. So, no, Will doesn't reveal himself. Instead, he listens. He hums, and he tugs on the strings which connect them all, and hopes that they'll hear him. I'm here, he says. I'm right here.

I promise I'll get back to drawing canon characters soon. But woo- took me three days to finish. But my boi Kaiba is complete! This is probably the most cluttered ref I've ever made haha.
Tumblr media
Potential Rakuyou arc spoilers ahead so be warned:
Originally he was inspired by a post where someone mentioned the artist phenomenon of a canon character basically turning into their OC after awhile.
And it all started with well, I love Kamui. And I love his first official appearance with the bandages obscuring his face - maybe I could work with that. But then I shoved so many of my AU things and other ideas I enjoy into this character that he's mutated so much that he barely has any trace of Kamui left in his character. Definitely not story wise, nor personally, maybe a few elements design wise still along with the fact of being a Yato. Kaiba actually ended up being much more like Kouka story wise than I intended though (*cough* probably because Kaiba was mainly based on my AU of Kamui being the sole Altana mutant on Kouan instead of Kouka *cough*) but eh, I'll live with that.
Despite being a yato and Altana mutant...I may have taken a few creative liberties design wise. But I have my excuses! One thing is, I absolutely love Yato- but wish they had a few more I guess inhuman traits. Like please give them larger canine teeth and reflective pupils please🙏🥺. I thought the reflective pupils for Yato would be really cool, or funny, if Kagura had em too. So I tossed those traits into there. And I know Yato are supposed to be fair skinned- but I had an idea! Since Yato seem to be able to build up a slight tolerance to sunlight, like with Kagura being able to be out in broad daylight, while Housen who hasn't been exposed in a long time immediately started dying. I figured what if during Yato disopra, one of the groups of survivors who had fled Kouan ended up on this sunny desert dwarf planet... probably not by choice. Though there, the survivors perhaps started to build up a higher tolerance to the sunlight. But yet they're still not immune to it. And could have been the downfall of the few generations that had managed to survive for long enough. Kaiba was from this specific clan of Yato that had settled on the dwarf planet. With a slightly higher tolerance to sunlight than the typical Yato, and with the combo of being an altana mutant. Kaiba was free to enjoy the sunlight for much longer before feeling the effects of it, allowing him to gain more of his tanned complexion. Also just shares the same reptile brain as me, with the desire to just lay out in the sun on warm rocks. Though if he's an altana mutant, how come he has a scar? That should just heal right? ... Well, I have absolutely no excuse for that for now! I just wanted to reuse a scar design from one of my older characters because I thought it'd look nice on Kaiba 👉👈.
Now to get a little more into his story and such. It starts off similarly to Kouka's. As again Kaiba is the last member of his clan surviving alone on his birth planet due to him being a mutant. The forgotten dwarf planet, which I've named Ardoros, is covered in reddish orange sands, stone, and a whole bunch of space junk wich collects on its surface. With so much metal and scrap around, Kaiba developed a skill in metal working. And even managed to find a junked ship one day. This was obviously very exciting as he managed to get it to function- just barely. With many days having spent wandering Ardoros previously, he had already discovered one of its altana crystals. Albeit small, he fashioned it into an earring to serve as a battery in a way before he finally left. But being the absolute hunk of junk it was, Kaiba's ship broke down when he managed to land on another planet. And with no money or anything to fix it, he's began relying on hitchhiking. Traveling all over the universe with the aid of strangers. This got to go on for years, exploring new planets, trying new food etc- he absolutely loved it. But, the crystal he wears is almost depleted along with his own altana energy. He continues to hitchhike, yes. But now determined to find his way back to Ardoros before it's too late. Thing is - he's never been skilled at navigating, always leaving that up to whoever he was traveling with. He has also encountered no one else who's even heard of Adoros, no one else knows it's location either. And currently his latest stop during his attempts to get home, is on earth.

OC and Mudlark meandering under the cut :)
So.
In Mudlark, my MC is a ~19-20yo girl named Jade Stellato, who grew up in a threadweaver colony on a planet called Keris, a relatively backwater world that hadn't even been settled for very long so things were pretty low-tech.
(Think 1930s/1940s in terms of how much technology impacts every-day life, but the technology that DOES exist is still futuristic. Like, farmers probably still often use draft animals to plow and harvest, but everyone's got the equivalent of a smartphone. Long-distance travel is more or less out of the question, but you've got satellite internet. Every teenage gearhead has posters of spaceships and hover cars on their bedroom walls, but the planet doesn't have interstates. They have the technology, just not the infrastructure for heavy machinery, etc.)
Threadweavers are people who can interact with and manipulate the "threads" that make up reality (uhhhh atomic theory plus laylines. mm-hm. Sanderson's spren minus the personification aspects. Something like that) and depending on where you are, you're either considered a skilled worker and valuable to society, or potentially a witch or a terrorist. It just depends. Keris is spread-out and colonial enough that every area kinda makes its own rules, but generally is considered weaver-friendly so there are a lot of threadweaver settlements there. The particular colony Jade grew up in was pretty strict on gender rules for what sort of threadweaving was appropriate. Women were supposed to stick to things like medicine and agriculture -- "natural" elements, while men were led more into manipulating inorganic things like stone, metals, etc.
So Jade is in training to go into the medical field, and she's not bad at it, but she really doesn't enjoy it. And one of the things she regularly gets in trouble for is doing things with metals -- shaping little tin dishes for her kiddie kitchen, making beads and stuff, etc. Then she discovers engines and machinery and it becomes a whole THING.
All of which is brought to a messy and screeching halt when the As Yet Unnamed Experimental Corporate Cultists swoop in on her settlement, steal every threadweaver they can subdue and murder the rest. She loses both parents and her brother in the chaos and only survives because she was out in some farmer's back pasture up to her elbows in a tractor engine.
She and the other few refugees get shipped back to the intersystem planets and pawned off from agency to agency until she's had enough and strikes off on her own, ending up scraping together a living as a "mudlarker" -- someone who trawls riverbeds and beaches for valuable scrap to sell to pawnbroker types. The city she's in at the time is pretty unfriendly to threadweavers and it's illegal without a license, so she keeps under the radar and only uses her ability to manipulate metal when she's sure no one is watching (but it does come in handy to find more valuable items in the silt and sand of the river.)
Jade is tall and stocky, and strongly-muscled, with thick freckles over every inch of her skin and dark brown hair that would be wavy if she let it grow longer than a few inches. (She cut it at the first refugee center and has kept it short ever since out of convenience.) She whistles absently whenever she's deeply engrossed in a project, has a fascination with birds (Keris had no avian species), and realized at about age sixteen (when a classmate tried to kiss her at a harvest bonfire) that she's ace.
She deeply, deeply misses her parents and her older brother, Quin. She hopes they might be alive somewhere, but half hopes that they're not -- no one knows exactly what the As Yet Unnamed Experimental Corporate Cultists do with the people they take, but no one ever sees them again, and the AYUECC is powerful enough to be above the law of any planetary system. Conspiracies about brain transplants, human experimentation, and an attempt to breed an army of unstoppable threadweavers come up any time they're discussed.
Jade's story is going to open with her learning of a place simply known as Haven -- a planet hidden from the AYUECC and beyond the claim of any multi-planet confederation, where threadweavers are protected. And there are supposedly two guys at a dive bar two neighborhoods over who can take her there.
So! That's my protagonist. <3 ty for reading, if you got this far!

-continues to root around in here like a wanton hog- gimme Ellie. Both PROPHECY! and Exordium, where different
Tumblr media
putting this under a readmore this time lol
send me an oc + an emoji (or order the WHOLE HOG)
✨- How did you come up with the OC’s name?
Ellis "Elysium 'Ellie' Grimmsbane" Turley-Sessamine started as just Ellis Turley, because it was the most white, boring, bland name to contrast with their chosen chuuni name, Elysium Grimmsbane. (This ended up being a blunder because I ended up making them Korean on their dad's side, but c'est la vie.)
I ended up shortening their name to Ellie for symbolic reasons (Ellis and Elysium acted in different ways, where Ellie was a synthesis of the two), and they eventually found their birth mom, U'tlunt'a Sessamine.
I use different combinations of their name in different settings. More fantastical settings get Elysium where more mundane ones get Ellis, and so forth.
🌼 - How old are they? (Or approximate age range)
Ellie is 13 almost 14 and will tell you the fraction of the year as well. I've also rp'd them in their early 30s once they have kids.
🌺- Do they have any love interest(s)?
They have two canon partners, their elf princess girlfriend Nymra Simeon, and their healer goblin boyfriend Mango Sunwood.
🍕 - What is their favorite food?
Anything with a ton of sugar, because being half-fey they need a lot more sugar to survive. They're rather infamous for canonically making that pizzadilla cake that went viral on here a while back, but making it even sweeter.
💼 - What do they do for a living?
Odd jobs. They ran inventory for a magic shop as a kid, they're in school to become the Night Court Archmage like their birth mom, they're the personal knight for their girlfriend, they're an adventurer, they're a monster slayer, they'll clean your house, they've worked fast food, they're a stagehand, you name it.
🎹 - Do they have any hobbies?
Reading doorstopper fantasy novels that use way too many thees and thous. Singing and dancing. Talking over movies. Coming up with elaborate schemes. In Exordium specifically they like to collect unique old scrap junk they find. Though it's probably not actually from before the war, they like to pretend it is.
🎯 -What do they do best?
I genuinely do think their skills lie in both their big-hearted empathetic nature as well as their meticulous planning ability. They're kind of a middling mage and fighter, but their abilities highly depend on their relationships so it's fine.
🥊 -What do they love to do? What do they hate to do?
Ellie HATES swimming and going to the beach and all that. They also don't really like wearing swimwear or skintight/revealing clothing.
They love watching movies and joining clubs.
❤️ - What is one of your OC’s best memories?
Any one of their reunions with their loved ones after a long time apart. Any successful plan that goes off without a hitch, with everyone coming home safe and sound.
✂️ - What is one of your OC’s worst memories?
They have a few. In Prophecy, it'd probably be the chain of events that led to them giving V'rylla a bit of their soul, tied with them feeling like they contributed to the chain of events that led to Marie's death.
In Exordium so far, it's when they lost their legs, and the whole period of time as they were adjusting to that. They felt like a huge burden on this giant quest that was their own idea, especially not being able to travel on their own.
🧊 - Is their current design the first one?
Nope! Ellie is weird because I was intentionally tweaking their design over the course of their original campaign, Prophecy. They have a slightly different design in all of their aus, and for Exordium as well. They just have such a fun little mix-and-match set avaliable for their various hair/eye/skin colors.
🍀 - What originally inspired the OC?
A large number of things, mainly my own life as a cringe little nerd teen, but also Kaido from Saiki K and Angel from Hatoful Boyfriend. You can still kinda see it in them.
🌂 - What genre do they belong in?
They're so versatile, as a chuuni. They're either a plucky and naive young kid in a high fantasy or a kinda cringe weirdo in a non-fantasy.
💚 - What is your OC’s gender identity and sexuality?
Agender (but not really going for perfectly androgynous!) and poly bisexual.
🙌 - How many sibling does your OC have?
1 that they were raised with in Prophecy and 1 adopted sister. Thrandy is their canon half-sibling in Prophecy as well, and Lyth eventually also gets the sibling treatment. In Exordium they are one of a set of triplets, though they still have the canon brother they were raised with. So, anywhere between 1 and 4 depending on your definitions.
🍎 - What is the OC’s relationship w/their parents like?
In Prophecy, they're very close with their parents but they started the campaign kind of going through a phase where they thought that they were all boring, which was eventually debunked as they learned more about the world. Their bio dad is their adoptive dad's brother and they were a little frosty towards him at first but warmed up quickly. Their bio mom they were terrified of at first before they knew that she was their bio mom (because their girlfriend Nymra was also very scared of her due to a childhood discipline-related interaction) but after getting to know her, they decided that she was the coolest ever.
In Exordium, they're still pretty close with their adoptive parents, but the relationship is more strained because of the difficult living situation they're in as nomadic junk scrappers. When they eventually find out about their bio parents they're going to be somewhat hurt, but eventually come around about the circumstances of their separation.
🧠 - What do you like most about the OC?
I love how many layers and sides to Ellie there are. They really shine in facets. They're fun to angst about, they're fun to do shenanigans with, they're fun to write some serious storyline with, they're fun to use as an excuse to overanalyze things.
✏️ - How often do you draw/write about the OC?
I don't draw them NEARLY as much as I used to, but I still write for them from time to time because of all the active rps they're still in, in one form or another.
💎 - Do you ever see yourself killing off the OC?
Many times. But never permanently. I just like to scare my friends with the notion.
💀 - Does your OC have any phobias?
They have a fear of deep water. Originally I was going to give them a repressed memory of an almost-drowning. They also canonically had a general fear of vampires due to a repressed childhood incident with one. This also kind of manifested as Ellie simply never behaving normally when forced to interact with the vampire NPCs and enemies in the campaign.
🍩 -Who is your OC’s arch-nemesis or rival?
The trapped angel, V'rylla, is kind of the ultimate enemy in every one of their settings. She always is close to Ellie and often in their head, subtly manipulating them into giving their soul away in pieces to her.
🎓 - How long have you had the OC?
I made them in 2020ish, so about 4-5 years!
🍥 - What age were you when you created the OC?
I would've been 20!

YOU- It's time you spill the beans about your lil guys, Ramble about them! I want to hear EVERYTHING
EVERYTHING?? ...that's a lot of stuff wow okay
I've rambled about Glittering Oceans before... so you get backstory for Ashes from Above and the Mechanic :)
First off: They're both collab ocs!! A friend of mine had an open spot in their oc local group and I had a concept for an iterator and scug, so we put our two braincells together and now Ash has friends!! (Not gonna say who I'm working with by the way. You'll all just have to suffer until whatever grand reveal we end up doing lol)
Ash was very close with their ancients-- and I mean *very* close. The absolute best of friends, cool older sibling figure kind of close. They were especially really good... 'friends' with an ancient named 13 Fireflies Amongst Falling Leaves (whose design is in progress, but she was a graffiti artist!)
The mass ascension broke them-- in a literal sense. When it was first announced Ash tried to convince some of their ancients to stay behind with them-- and a handful of them agreed to try!! (Including Fireflies ;) And then one cycle, about a year after the initial mass ascension, Ash has a severe system failure. They're completely disconnected from their structure, in complete darkness and unbearable pain. Eventually their mentor figure in the local group manages to send a program that resets their structure-- and Ash is fine. They didn't have any severe equipment failure... no glitches in their code......
Their remaining ancients disabled their key systems so they could ascend without having to deal Ashes. And during that dark period while Ash was barely hanging on... their last few ancients, their best friends... left them. Without a word. Without saying goodbye.
Ash copes through anger. Buries their grief in jokes and pranks on their local group.
They get especially close with two iterators in their local group-- one of whom is just as devastated by the mass ascension and the other of whom is just as chaotic as Ash is (in a more wholesome sense, however).
They pick up engineering-- take scrap metal from their own structure to make useless gadgets. It helps pass the time.
At some period they start to think about their purpose. Why they're still here, still functioning and whole.
They have no reason to solve the Great Problem. Why should they want to?? Ascension solves nothing. Ascension only ever causes pain for the ones left behind. And there will always be someone left behind.
The cycle will go on, continuing to trap everything in its grasp. Why should only some get the privilege of escaping their prison?
Ash changes their goals.
They're no longer working to break the cycle.
They're working to shatter it.
More??? You want more??????????
Jeez okay sure-- I'll talk about Mechanic a bit, I guess
The Mechanic was a slugpup, part of a clan of nomadic scugs traveling through AFA's facility. The conditions were harsh, there was next to no food, and the colony was struggling to survive.
The elder scugs eventually made the decision to leave the youngest scugs behind. They were simply slowing the colony down and sacrifices needed to be made for any of them to survive.
Mechanic was the only one of these slugpups to survive. Ash eventually takes notice of the little fuzzball, this abandoned kid with a fierce desperation to live. Ash sees themselves in little Mech, and leads it up through their structure, with the intent of keeping it safe until it can fend for itself.
Mechanic sticks around. Ash begrudgingly lets it.
At some point Ash notices Mech's knack for crafting and understanding technology. Ash is a big tinkerer (their main hobby is making useless gadgets out of scrap metal!), and Mech is picking up engineering really quickly.
Eventually Ash officially adopts Mech, and enlists it to be their official structure technician and mechanic (that's where their name comes from!)
Despite Mechanic's intelligence, it's not actually very.... smart.
You can find it frequently staring at absolutely nothing.
It likes to try and eat things that are obviously not food (Ash has had to do the heimlich on it far too many times (it likes eating rocks))
It takes lots of naps and is a snuggle bug.
It picked up Ash's sense of humor and likes to 'prank' other creatures (such as taunting a lizard by sitting and looking tasty juuuuuuust a little too far away for the lizor to grab it)
It hoards shiny things that it thinks Ash might like (Ash actually does appreciate this a bit-- sometimes it'll bring them a useful part!)
Anyway yeah. Basic ✨️lore✨️ for my two newest sillies.
Expect more soon I can't get them out of my brain help

I realized I haven't made a post about larvaceans yet
And like really they're so cool they absolutely deserve it.
Okay so, basically, larvaceans are some of the closest cousins of vertebrates. Which says a lot, but still quite less than one would expect. They're part of the tunicate family, which also gave us sea squirts:
Tumblr media
Not very vertebrate-like, admittedly. And salps, pyrosomes and doliolids, which can be described as the higher-budget remake of cnidarians that didn't do as well:
Tumblr media
So, where did it all go wrong? And where do larvaceans fit into this?
Basically, tunicates and vertebrates are those siblings that used to work together, but split off after a big creative disagreement. We're both chordates - starting off with a notochord, a flexible rod running along the body - but that's where the similarities end.
We vertebrates decided to capitalize on the notochord, giving it its own armor set - the vertebral column, and ultimately an entire skeleton along with it. Meanwhile, tunicates scrapped the entire notochord thing past the larval stage, instead working on their new "brilliant" idea: cellulose armor, or, as their branding goes - the tunic.
Yep, that right. They're the only animals capable of synthesizing cellulose - one of the best materials across all biological kindgoms - and they ended up commiting a little too much to the bit, becoming cellulose sponge and cellulose jelly. And, in the process, losing any semblance of familiarity they once had.
Except for one.
You see, while sea squirts, salps and friends invested everything - even their own lives - in that new and dubious project, another group decided to be a little smarter about it. They wouldn't become cellulose monsters, no - they would use it as a building material, designing refined submarines to travel the oceans in.
Enter the larvacean.
Tumblr media
Don't be mistaken - the larvacean is only the tadpole-like creature in the middle of the picture. The rest? Part of the elaborate filtration system of its submarine. Which also comes with directional fins, ventilation, and even an emergency exit while we're at it.
Now, the larvacean got everything right where its brothers got everything wrong. Keep the notochord - it's useful to avoid becoming a hapless blob floating in the middle of the ocean. Keep an air of familiarity - you've got a head, a tail, that's at least a decent basis for an animal. Basically, stick with the original body plan.
And then, build cool stuff. Like - spaceship level of cool stuff. And then leave it a few hours later and build another one, and repeat, because that's really all the fun.
Tumblr media
Okay, so, you might be asking - how on Earth is that efficient? Why would any creature go to such lengths to build an elaborate spaceship often a meter long, just to abandon it every few hours?
The answer is: free food. Like - a ridiculous amount of free food. It turns out, larvaceans live in that layer of the ocean where organic stuff from above floats into. And, with the innovative larvacean technology, all of it can be scooped out into the submarine's filters, going directly into the creature's mouth.
Tumblr media
And this process is absurdly effective - so much that larvaceans actually make up a massive portion of the deep ocean's life, scooping out all of the food coming from above. So much that their filters usually get clogged after a few hours. And, since they get so many organic materials as to basically be playing in creative mode, they can literally drop the whole thing and rebuild another house on the spot.
Tumblr media
(Larvaceans are class Appendicularia here, in light blue. Oh yeah, forgot to mention they're bioluminescent too)
Oh, and you might be wondering - what happen to the myriad of discarded larvacean houses? Turns out they sink to the bottom of the ocean, with all the organic stuff caught inside - except, hopefully, for the larvacean itself. And that's actually the main way food and stuff from the surface gets to the abyss! (along with the more spectacular but much much rarer whalefalls)
And that's also the main way plastic also gets to the abyss. That's right, these creatures are the reason why we only find 1% of the plastic we throw away in the oceans - everything else gets packaged by larvaceans scooping around (turns out they can differentiate between plastic and food, they just don't care) and sent straight down to the abyss. They decided that our pollution wasn't their problem, and that they'll gladly send it to their downstair neighbours. Which should probably not be taken as the moral of this story, although I don't think they'd care either way.

It started as a quiet affair.
Traveling to the shack.
The night is buzzing softly with its life, the plants glowing in an array of colors around the clearing edges.
The AMP sticking out like a sore thumb, cold and robotically lifeless.
Upon a closer look there's the faint presence of vines growing into the cockpit.
"She sure tried, didn't she?" Miles comments.
"You coming back and disturbing it probably didn't help," Jake replies, gesturing to the neck of the corpse, where its skull had been removed.
"Your kids tell you about that?"
"Yeah."
"Think us moving it is gonna make it any better?"
"If Eywa decides she wants him, then she'll take him, we're just making it a little easier," Jake says before he reaches into the AMP, carefully removing some of the bones, the hands and arms, along with some scraps of clothes, "I'll find him a good spot, so come on."
Miles grabs some bones as well, the ribcage and spine.
He trails after Jake as he wanders into the forest, searching for a spot.
"You don't think he could tell us if he has a preference?"
"How dare you try to make such a serious moment, laughable, Miles fucking Quaritch," Jake scolds, though Miles can hear the humor in his voice.
"Sorry, sorry."
"I can't believe you."
Miles can't help the grin that comes to his face, as he chuckles softly.
The pair keep waking for a while, till they find a spot that's not absolutely choked with flora.
Jake crouches, carefully clearing some that were still in the way before he starts digging, Miles coming down to help him.
"I'll go get the rest of the bones," he says once they've got a reasonably sized grave.
"Alright," Jake says, starting to set the bones they had down into the hole, placing them carefully so they would look like the skeleton was laying on its side once it was complete, the scraps of clothes being draped over them.
Or about as complete as it could be while missing a skull.
Miles comes back with more of the bones, needing to take a third trip back for the last bits.
Jake continues to relay the bones down.
"Hey, I found this," Miles says as he comes back again.
Jake hears the jiggle of dog tags before he even turns his head to look.
"He'll probably want to be buried with those, unless we want to give them to Spider someday."
"They're not his," Miles says, Jake reaching to take them so he could have a look.
"I know Lyle or somebody took his, pocketed them so..."
"These are mine," Jake mutters.
"How'd he get them?"
"You should know."
"Tell me anyways."
"Gave them to him at some point, don't know why. It's really a stupid gesture, giving another person your dog tags in a supposedly hostile environment."
"But you trusted him."
"Guess I did. I didn't know he held onto them. He said I betrayed him, why keep something from me if he felt that way?"
"Maybe he was stupid too," Miles says, placing the last bones in their spots.
Jake laughs, "Yeah, maybe he was."
He gets to his feet, "We need one more thing, then we can cover him up. I'll be right back, hopefully I can find one."
If Eywa lets him, he'd find one, he's sure.
---
He doesn't find one. Or well he does, but he can't catch them, the atokirina, woodsprites floating just out of his reach. Guess even Eywa had her limits.
Jake understands.
He goes back to Miles empty handed, and kneels back down next to him to start scooping dirt back into the hole.
Miles brushes dirt off his hands when they finish, "Think we should mark it?"
"No, better for it to just disappear eventually."
"You sure?"
"Yeah, there's no reason to cling to it. Beside if I really feel like reminiscing, I have these," Jake raises the dog tags.
"You gonna wear them? Isn't there some law about not doing that?"
Jake unclasps the tags, "It's about using metals from the ground, but I feel this is different enough." He struggles a little clasping it back around his neck, and Miles moves to help him.
"I'm sure someone will tell me to take it off at some point, which in that case, I have you," he adds, patting Miles on the shoulder before he gets up.
"That's true, I certainly beat the original."
"Don't think too highly of yourself, your ego's big enough."
Miles laughs, "Says Toruk Makto. You got a ego boost large enough from that to rival mine."
"I don't know what you're talking about, I'm very humble about that," Jake says, with a scoff as he starts to walk off.
Miles follows him, fall into step beside him easily, their hands brushing.
Jake hooks pinkies with Miles.
They walk together, quietly, back towards home.

Kindling
I'm Blue Moon shrugged off the headache as he came back from one of his sporadic travels. Blinking rapidly hoping that the shutting shift in place would somber if they blinked enough. His brain catching up as he finally observed his surroundings. His whole body stiffening at the sight.
Oil. There was oil and scrap metal everywhere. From the balcony he could see the mess that was the living room. Couches scratched and things thrown about. Suddenly his attention realigned to moons entrance to his room. Listening intently. Which one of them was hurt. Where was that tiny imposter.
His body moved quickly as he jumped the rail and into the living room. Surveying the parts and smelling the oil. A part of his mind grew hungry with the smell. Instead trying to focus on the metal parts. Yellow and blue. Which one was more, which one was less. Trying to assess which one would need aid first. Coming out on conclusive as they quickly jumped into the tunnel leading to Moon's room.
He came out the other side with a defensive growl. One that thankfully was returned. Moon stood defensively as he took in his shape. Already seemingly halfway repaired himself. Clearly the victor. Blue Moon knew he could handle himself. He was the repairman anyways. Before Moon could make much of a protest Blue Moon left.
Scrambling out of a hole He quickly reoriented himself before reaching for the door to Sun's room and opening it. Oil littered the floor. Signifying the loser. Blue Moon quickly scrambling inside. Spotting the barely twitching corpse of his other brother.
Blue Moon spent no time summoning his runes. Metal reorienting itself as if going back in time. Sun's form gasping as they could suddenly breathe again. Blue Moon intensely watched every movement. Sun curling up as the rest formed and became more understandable. Blue Moon licked his lips.
Walk down to the lair of moving hands. The smell of oil is too much for my demands.
Sun barely had any glance of Blue Moon before he left the room. They grab their face. Forcefully shutting their mouth closed as they try to block out the smell of oil. His ray twitched as they registered a new sound. Hungry eyes quickly scanning the area of the noise came from. Barely seen in the small toy house was The imposter. The tiny Sun. The evil one.
Suddenly his attention refocused. His eyes pierced into the toy house. The TF sun dodges his eyes as if they were lasers. They prowled forward intensely. Eyes seemingly never leaving TF Sun. Rearing up beside the toy house. TF Sun staring fearfully at him. A rumbling growl turned into a roar as Blue Moon clutched the roof of the house and flung it off. The structure fell apart as TF Sun screamed.
They weren't given much time to flee as within seconds later Blue Moon had their neck. Lifting them off the ground before tossing them to the other side of the room. Slamming into the wall that led upwards into the balcony. Scrambling briefly before they were grabbed again. Raked up the wall before they felt the painful bang as their head hit the top of the railing. Practically being shoved between the bars with the force Blue Moon was exerting.
TF Sun opened his eyes to see Blue Moon staring directly back at him. They're right eye swirling with a red symbol. The other one matching the piercing color. Their teeth gleamed angrily as they got closer to his face. He could feel his breath on him. Coming out in little puffs as they held back their true anger. Their instinct.
You should have stopped them Dying Fire! You should have been able to quell their ire!
What? How would I have- are you mad! I would have died!
Blue Moon pushes them further into the bars. They whimpered as they uselessly clawed at Blue Moon's arm. Their airway closing up as he squeezed tighter. Leaning in as their fury grew.
Like a child. You are a child. Something that should have made them less wild.
But I'm not a kid! How would that have- I'm an independent adult! I'm-
They choked as Blue Moon squeezed tighter. His teeth showed more as he snarled.
Should have expected you would leave them to die. You have no care even for your own kind.
Wha- I care for a lot of people! How was I supposed to know I was supposed to stop them! You never told me! You never-
You did not care for the one you enslaved! You left him to rot while you all played!
That's not the same! I didn't do anything! He did simple tasks! Nothing like this!
Do not live a lie that you know is not true! He was made to do things much harder than what you have to do!
Well how was I even supposed to know I was supposed to do this! You gave me no instruction! You really expected me to do this!? Without reason!?
Blue Moon's eyes burned. They wordlessly stared at TF Sun. TF Sun breathing harshly as their neck was still held within his grasp. Their eyes shook with intensity before they narrowed and stilled. Their claws digging painfully into TF Suns neck. Causing them to whimper as Blue Moon lifts them out of the bars and closer to his face. Inches as they whispered.
Night was never given a choice. The little light forced to deal with the worst. Expected to complete with little a reason. Listening to commands that held barely a correction. In danger is something they lived. Completing tasks with little to give.
Blue Moon finally opened the distance. Holding them painfully, but they barely squirmed. Eyes widening as they pointed out everything they did to lunar. Fear crossing their features as they knew what he would say next.
Something you would punish him If he failed to complete. Even if it was something they weren't told to proceed.
Suddenly TF Sun was dropped. They fell to the floor with a breathless welp. They scrambled to flatten themselves against the wall as they tried to regain their breath. Blue Moon turned around. Glancing at the camera that blinked purple in the room.
Computer.
Affirmative.
TF Sun had barely any time to plead before suddenly he was shocked. A scream ripping from his form as he clawed uselessly at the ribbons on his neck. Hoping to remove them as if it would get rid of the digital pain. Instead only causing them to tighten. Burning his hands slightly as he screamed louder. Blue Moon turning around with a growl. Roaring out as he told TF Sun exactly how he felt.
This is his life you so willfully ignored! Something you could have changed but instead chose to endure! You engaged in the torment! You gave him no defense! You laughed at the jokes that clearly gave offense! I do not care whatever reason you give! This is something you deserve to live. I am your demon and this is your hell! A purgatory you will sit in until you are nothing more than a shell! I will make sure you know what it is to lose love! I will make sure you never feel loved,
ever again!

Decided to turn this little reblog train into a story. Still trying to get back writing motivation. Right now I'm just choosing to reincarnate certain discussions.
The story probably feels a little bit more bare bones. But then again I was going off a tiny discussion that just sounded cool. The stuff in the beginning is mostly fluff. The rest of this is almost all dialogue. As it is the part that hits.
Hope you enjoy @madcatdaderpydrawer-blog

sometimes i think about how things were in the weeks that maria first went missing, but back home - not her while she's under johnny's thumb but rather how her mother and ana and other family took her going missing.
the dread that settles in when you get a knock on the door and its a pair of detectives / officers who've come to tell you that they've found your childs' car abandoned off in the middle of nowhere, with most of her things still inside but zero trace of her. how it looks like its been sitting out there, seemingly for just shy of how long it had been since they last got a call from her letting them know where she was, that she was alright. how the worry over the weeks from not hearing from her turns into horror and fear and panic and grief at all those what happened scenarios flooding the mind - of peoples speculations being voiced crassly in front of them.
how desperate ana must have been for literally any trace to come forward about maria, that she took it upon herself to track down where her friends from uni were probably in hopes initially that maybe they'd heard from or seen her at all. and then to let them know that the searches aren't going well, that theyve heard whispers that they're planning to simply stop them altogether. the anger she must feel that her sister isnt being cared for as a person, just another file some badged man can toss into a file cabinet and forget about.
and then i think about the broadcasts. of the pleads from maria's family to continue looking for her, to come forward with literally anything at that point. how their mother probably could barely sputter out any words, but ana takes over and so clearly begs and demands that her sister not be forgotten, that they keep the searches for her going, that she isn't just a number or a piece of paper she's a living breathing person who deserves so much more than to be shelved and scoffed at. how ana probably said things along the lines of "we aren't giving up on you, we will find you - we are going to keep looking for you we are never going to stop, even if it takes months, even if it takes years, we will find and bring you home".
how hard of a hit on their mothers' health all the stress probably took, ana having to juggle trying so desperately to find maria while also trying to be reassuring and positive with their mother to keep her hopeful, keep her healthy.
how their father showed up after word of her going missing reached him, guilt-ridden and angry but just wanting to help in any way he could.
how danny grabbed all his things and returned to town the moment he was updated from being down by the coastlines for his trade school. how he left within the hour and drove cross-state to get there and help however he could. his anger and frustration so evident on him, fighting with it to try and stay a pillar for ana and mrs flores given his long-term friendship with maria and her family.
just. all of the absolute chaos of those weeks, the floating in nothingness, waiting by phones for it to ring with really any news at all. the friends getting together to scour over all the recent places they all knew or could speculate she may have gone to and traveling so aimlessly to every single one of them - looking for literally any kind of scraps they could possibly find.
the hopeless feeling after so many of them turned up with nothing.
and then tie all of this up with the idea that local sheriffs / police depts are covering things up - hiding or destroying evidence, silencing any potential witness, doing everything in their power to not let anything get out because they already know whose involved, and theyre already bent at the knee in submission to these people out in the middle of nowhere with scrawling acres upon acres of property.
its just all heartbreaking to me.

top 10 otps?
Now THIS is MY kinda ask! It took me a full day to think about this ask because I wanted to answer it as thoroughly as possible, but now that my writer's block has cleared up, it's time to answer this one.
My Top Ten Ships (in no particular order)
Tumblr media
John Murphy and Emori kom Spacekru ( The 100 )
The ultimate rags to riches love story. These two went from having absolutely nothing, fighting tooth and nail for just the smallest scrap to get by to living in a huge castle on a moon. You can't get better than that!
Without a doubt the most passionate and intimate couple in the series. That scene where they share each other's very souls? Epic!
What makes this romance such a strong favourite for me is how it surprised us all. I don't think anyone was betting on John Murphy of all characters to end up in the show's most enduring love story.
Tumblr media
Lois Lane and Clark Kent ( Superman )
If you have Lois and Clark as a ship, you're never starving because their love story has been adapted to practically every form of media out there. Comics, Radio, TV shows, Movies, Books, Animation, Video Games, you name it, they got it. It's a buffet!
Their staying power as a couple is incredible. 80+ years later, and people STILL get goosebumps whenever they meet for the first time in any new Superman continuity. To have the ability to take people's breath away like that is unbelievably powerful.
The way they inspire each other to reach new heights, to beat the odds, and to take challenges head on is eternally rewarding to see. They are the definition of power couple.
Tumblr media
The Ninth Doctor and Rose Tyler ( Doctor Who )
These two right here are at the root of my entire blog because my newfound obsession with Doctor Who was perfectly timed with me starting this blog. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for them, so they'll always occupy a special place on here.
Every time I look at them, they just radiate happiness and comfort. They're each other's beacon of hope in the dire of situations. All of time and space is a much more beautiful place thanks to them!
What will always make me emotional about these two is how they saw something beautiful in each other, and bit by bit, they gave each other the courage to show it off to the rest of the world.
Tumblr media
D'Artagnan and Constance D'Artagnan nee Bonacieux ( The Musketeers )
Speaking of going back in time, let's go back to 17th Century France where we meet my next ship, D'Artagnan and Constance from The Musketeers, my favourite period drama romance.
What I love the most about them is how they provide each other the one thing that's been missing in their lives. D'Artagnan liberates Constance from a life of boredom, emboldening her heart that's been yearning for adventure. Constance becomes D'Artagnan's sanctuary, becoming his home after losing his own.
In this version of the story, Constance is able to defy her fate and live, so we're able to see their relationship grow, and by the end of it, they become a formidable team.
Tumblr media
Niles Crane and Daphne Moon ( Frasier )
If there was an award for the best sitcom romance, this one would take home the big prize, because Niles and Daphne are a showstopper.
What makes them so emotionally resonant for me is how, when they first meet, they both are a little insecure and lonely in their own way. Their combined happiness and newfound confidence when they're finally able to be together is so worth the wait!
Then, of course, there's the sublime modern fairy tale aspect to their story. It's a bit like Cinderella in a lot of ways!
Tumblr media
Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese ( The Terminator )
I love 80's action movies, I love sci-fi, I love time travel stories, and I love romance, so Sarah and Kyle's romance is a winning combination for me.
The Terminator, for the most part, is a movie that's fairly bleak, and that's why Sarah and Kyle's romance with each other is such a standout. It's the one string of hope that eventually leads to humanity's victory over the machines.
I'm a huge sucker for the bodyguard crush trope, too, so it makes this ship tremendously appealing. What makes it even better is that halfway through the movie, they trade places, and it's her protecting him.
Tumblr media
Father Andrew Kiernan and Frankie Paige ( Stigmata )
Now for something from my more obscure collection of obsessions: Stigmata. Still in the vein of talking about tropes, this ship's all about having some fun with the Hot Priest trope. Forbidden love at its finest, am I right?
What draws me into this dynamic and into this story is its subtlety. It doesn't hit you over the head with it, which makes every intimate touch and moment they have hit like a train off its rails whenever they occur throughout the movie's runtime.
Now this is just my personal take on the ending of the movie(it has an open ending), but I like to think that Andrew eventually retires being a priest because he can't fight his feelings for Frankie, and they go off to be together.
Tumblr media
Talon Spears and Garret Spears ( The Outpost )
This was the little ship that could because I thought for sure the series would get cancelled and left on an unresolved cliffhanger due to the utter lack of promotional material it received from The CW, but it managed to make it to four seasons and finished on a satisfactory, conclusive note.
And that endurance to make it to the end is definitely instilled in these two, because they never stopped fighting for each other, protecting their realm with everything they had.
Through compassion, bravery, and resourcefulness, they won the hearts of the people, becoming their champions. They're truly deserving of their royal titles.

Cyclops and Rogue ( X-Men Evolution )
When you think couples from the X-Men franchise, your mind usually goes to the regular suspects: Scott x Jean, Anna Marie x Remy, but this series will have you thinking twice on that front because of this unexpected surprise.
In this series, Cyclops and Rogue work so well off of each other. They're a walking contradiction because despite having a lot of common ground with each other, their personalities couldn't be more different. That creates a perfect storm of opposites attract + birds of a feather.
One day soon, I hope to see a continuation of this version of the X-Men, because it would mean I would be able to see more of these two.

Commander Nate Shepard and Jack ( Mass Effect )
This is a seemingly new addition onto my blog, but it really isn't, because I've been a fan of Mass Effect since 2012. Back in the day, I wasn't able to capture video footage of my custom Shepard with Jack because I'm a console player, but with the PS4 being able to record gameplay footage, now I can! It feels so much more personal this way instead of using the default Shepard, you know?
I feel like this portion of this massive list needs its own segment, because I have so much more to say about them(it involves a lot of explaining about how I've developed my Shepard's backstory and why it aligns so perfectly with Jack's), but that wouldn't be fair to the rest who're on this list.
So I'll just say this romance is a beautiful showcase of how someone can enter in your life, offer an escape when you think there's no way out, and give you the chance to rehabilitate and recover just when you least expect it.
And now this list is complete. Thanks for inspiring me to chat about why all these fantastic and amazing couples resonate with me so much and why I can't stop editing them!

VILLAINMOTEL BACKSTORY MASTERPOST idk if i’ll update this if i change anything but here’s everyone’s bullshit. spoilers i guess if it ever becomes anything
the city of NEW NEW JERSEY is the hottest superhero and tech hub in the entire country! housed in the state of the same, most heroes (and villains) who travel here want to make it big, and for the state’s original residents, that’s no exception, either.
one group of self-proclaimed supervillains lives together in the formerly-bustling verbena motel, a bed and breakfast that scrapes by using the New New Jersey Supervillain Education Clause which states that a villain cannot be arrested in an educational building (which the motel technically counts as since it houses a library).
MOTEL RESIDENTS
nurse hurtem: medschool drop out who became an underground boxer. originally started boxing to make money for student loans, but found out she liked it more than becoming a doctor. grew up with absent business-minded parents who tossed her into various schools for troubled youth since she would act out for attention. unofficial leader of the verbena motel villain team! sarcastic, snarky, and quick to anger, but sisterly at heart
trajothaddeus “traj” captio: nepobaby alien crashing here to hide from intergalactic authorities on fraud charges. heir to the throne of a vast scrapping empire (but unwilling to get his hands dirty), he was taught from a young age to let others do the work for him. talks big game about receiving checks from his father, but refuses to reveal that he’s been excommunicated. surprisingly good inventor and engineer! currently running influencer scams despite having three followers. stuck-up, dramatic, and organized
misery: psychic delinquent teen child of famous abstract fashion designer parents. sent to a school for troubled youth after an incident where they exploded a salad bar with their mind at school. has the ability to speak to spirits and manipulate shadows, along with telekinesis. weirdgirl supreme. always staring at people. usually has bugs in pocket. doesn’t talk often or emote outwardly, but their intentions are in the right place. offputting, genuine, and quiet
KEVIN LASTNAME: amnesiac deity of ultimate destruction. during an incident roughly a year ago where a group of teens summoned him on accident and he was attacked out of fear in his fragile, freshly-formed state, he was injured severely and staggered in the night until he came across the motel. knocking on the door and seeking refuge, he was then concussed a second time at the door because hurtem saw a twelve foot tall skeleton thing and was scared. on coming to, he had no idea of any aspect of his past or where he came from. scared of modern technology. too strong for his own good, resulting in being the muscle of the team. incredibly loud, blunt, and frankly stupid as rocks, but he tries his best. powers include whatever i think is funny
the lobotomizer: co-founder of the motel with her mafioso wife, betty bundtcake. used to date big tech mogul franka richter, but was murdered by her after seeing something she shouldn’t have. she qaunlived out of sheer spite, piecing herself together until she was whole again- at the price of her sanity. she and her wife made the motel out of necessity for those needing a little help hiding from the law (or anyone really) or just a place to stay. means well and cares for those she loves, but can be (always is) unethical in her studies and experiments. good-natured, humorous, and slightly off-kilter. has a zombie wiener-ish dog named frankie.
NNJ JUNOR HERO LEAGUE
secret admirer: a programming and engineering whiz, along with having healing powers and enhanced speed, she's a shoe in for the NNJ junior hero league. cares deeply about her teammates and hopes they're able to stick together once they all graduate into the big league. caring, passionate, but tends to be too modest for her own good
high roller: has the power of supernaturally high luck. originally put this to use at the big casino in the city, but was caught and recruited to the junior league as an alternative to legal punishment. found out she likes the attention from hero work more than the pay (which is still rather decent) and has been on the right side of the law ever since. a little bit of a show off, good-spirited, and witty
screwloose: former quantum physicist permanently altered after an experiment gone wrong. now abides by toon logic and physics and has gone completely insane. loose cannon of the group, forcibly entered into the league by the hero council of the city due to the potential danger they could put the city in with their powers. they only stay because it's entertaining. unpredictable, snarky, and irresponsible
phenomenon: also entered the league willingly. general generic superstrength type hero, though he's got a huge heart, for better or for worse. along with this he's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but he always lifts all of his teammates up and to victory! kind, sensitive, loyal, and a little oblivious
adam "the intern" subtract: who is this guy?? whatever. he can make more or less of certain objects. kind of sucks ngl
MISC. CHARACTERS
wilbur "riff" captio: older brother to traj. got the short end of the stick nepotism-wise and received poor treatment on the job and all through life in general. his father tested a workplace-boosting energy drink on him that left him permanently scarred and prone to transforming into a giant beast, so he packed his shit and left. was hunted by traj for years on a mission from their father to drag him back to work, but has managed to evade capture since traj was exiled. currently working as a con-man selling bullshit outside of casinos and in those little kiosks in the middle of mall aisles
megabyte: vampire computer virus supervillain, and 1/6 of the NNJ Official Villain Council (which is not legally recognized by the government). feeds by draining electricity and data from machinery, and can infect other mechanical beings or devices to sap energy for her for limited periods of time. has a little lightbulb themed cronie named wattson. incredibly cheesy, snooty, and not actually that evil
franka richter: born without powers, she had to scrape to the top through will alone, all while battling the unexpected heart failure of her young adult love, laura albrecht. current founder and CEO of PHYSM, a company that makes basically everything in the area and sponsors the hero league- though they're most famous for smartphones and home assistants a la google. known publicly as a major philanthropist and community pillar, though that couldn't be farther from the truth. retired heroes keep going missing or being found dead. nobody is investigating. everything is fine.
