I have such a love/hate relationship with hardbacks that have printed covers and no dust jacket, like this copy of Where Dreams Descend (the OwlCrate edition).

On one hand, sometimes I think they're really pretty (like this one).

But...I like dust jackets.

I think they serve a purpose (protecting the book, hiding any stains or damage to the book, etc).

With printed cover hardbacks, if something happens to the the cover, there's no hiding it (unless you get some other cover for the book).

What's your opinion of hardbacks with cover art printed directly on them?

i just had a dream where i had been yard sale shopping at someones house, and they had this big cardboard box full of N64 games, and on the box had the writing "3 games have water damage" and listed the serial numbers for each cartridge rather than listing the names. anyway i don't remember a lot of the cartridges names beyond one clearly being "Super Mario 64 DS", which even in the dream i was confused by. within the box was another mario title that was similar to mario pinball and mario golf, and came with a miniature set you had to put together and included little fence posts you had to click into the board to ensure the marble wouldn't fall out during play.

anyway so im curious about a lot of these N64 games, since ive never heard of them, and i wanted to see if they were custom or bootlegs. a seperate family at the sale is looking at a miniature house of sorts as im pulling out my phone to look up the names of these games. im not even able to type anything in before i hear two giant concrete cylinders hit the floor from just around the corner of the basement. that's right. the mother fucking waterwraith appeared

#dream posting #i get dreams sometimes of looking at or finding video games that. subconsciously. i know arent real games. #or at the very least. dream me is like ''oh i didnt know this game existed'' #like i remember a dream where i went to my aunts house (who lived in a house i use to live in) and she had some of our games #and one was some wario game for the N64 #anyway i think the water wraith was specifically added to the dream so i wouldnt find out if the games were fake or not #the yard salers trick. #looking up mario super pinball golf ay? well lets see what the water wraith has to say about that. #specifically i remember hearing the exact noise the water wraith plays as he descends from the sky. and the thud of the cylinders. #i did eventually see him start rolling his way into the room. so it was indeed the actual water wraith. #the rest of the dream was just me trying to escape their labyrinth of a house. where i had somehow managed to get up to their top floor #and by that point i think my brain couldnt keep up with the insane shit going on and i woke up soon after #beware curious yard sale shoppers. lest ye see the water wraith.

been thinking for a few months about a horror-based resource management/semi dungeon crawler roguelite-y game, ps2 graphics like that iron lung game that came out a while ago. based on a really interesting dream i had. ages off from realizing this obviously but it's something i'd like to work on

#unfortunately i am a great ideas man #but i do not have the knowledge or resources to be a doing man #yet. #щ #similar system to stardew valley where your primary goal is resource accumulation #but multiple different routes to take within the story #and some roguelite qualities because those games are fun #the dream was having to descend into the mines of an alien planet full of creepy monsters btw. it's still very vivid in my mind
