The thing about Jack is: he's always been there. He's been a part of Connor's story since the draft, and will be a part of Connor's story for the rest of their careers. Maybe after, Connor thinks, on the days he catches himself lingering on posts about Jack while he's swiping through Instagram, maybe always.

Jack's hand touching his in the line felt hotter than the rest; Connor skated through the rest of the line, giving out the same good game acknowledgment to everyone, mouth on autopilot, legs pushing him down the ice one last time, making the same journey down another tunnel that he keeps making again, and again, and again.

He looks down at his hand in the shower, as if there's anything to see. As if there's a mark, or a brand; as if it's any different from last year, when the Oilers lost in four and he took in the thanks, man from MacKinnon and it wasn't like this, wasn't eating him alive and searing his skin.

He should just go home and sleep, but the heat of Jack's touch is still there, still lancing up his arm, and he lets it make stupid decisions for him, lets it send a few texts that no one will ignore because he's him, he's Connor McDavid, and now he knows where to go and what to do to either cool off the burn on his palm or let it turn him into ash.

That part's not up to him. Truly not up to him, not something he can know in advance or plan for. He just has to put one foot in front of the other, until he's standing in front of a hotel room door, knocking, listening for footsteps and hearing the heavy iron clack of the lever turning and the door swinging open and--

Jack.

He doesn't look surprised, but he doesn't say hello, either. He stands there for a moment, and then steps back, holding the door open.

Connor takes a deep breath and walks inside.

Track fives are Taylor’s most vulnerable, most emotional tracks. And that shows with The Archer.

From the very beginning, her voice is laced with such raw emotion, making it sound as if she’s on the verge of tears. She’s the archer, but also the prey. Throughout her entire career she’s fought but she’s always been hunted too.

Taylor is slowly being suffocated with lost hope, lost friends, her only connection is the one person she needs to hold on to.

She puts up a smoke screen to hide herself but it doesn’t work anymore, everyone sees right through her. Now she’s broken, trapped as a child surrounded by dead heroes.

But Taylor is resilient. Despite all the self-hatred, spite and regret, she’s faced this before. She’s ready for combat.

One thing I question to this day is how Newtralizer was able to clean himself. Plus I wonder if he is still able to consume water. Plus Idk if other types of liquids can affect him as well.
