Chapter 4
~ Egghead - The Land of Science. ~
Tumblr media
A few days later in the thousand sunny:
The Crew seemed to have awakened from their winter slumber. The winter falls has sprung into deep action. After so long, when I looked up at the skies it seemed as if they were breaking free and opening for an unknown world, the waves thrashing, the thousand sunny quaking over the ocean sea.
The sun shines down on me and gives me light but there is nothing that fills my soul with joy. The wind flaps my coat like some form of rejection, ruffling the material, scratching the skin underneath before changing thoughts to the potential iceberg issues up ahead.
The iceberg that sunk the mighty ship and killed all aboard with such fright. With a shudder I am reminded that in just a matter of hours I will be going out on this same water filled vessel. In another matter of hours the boat will recreate the scene from a popular history book I had been lended from my childhood years.
The very scenario that caused many sailors to kill themselves rather than endure what came next. But how can one forget the sound of an iceberg snapping a ship apart? This very day I will find myself sailing past the massive snow-white giants with its menacing cold dark ocean floor looking for land.
For miles upon miles upon miles the ice builds to perfection and then shattering when you get too close to the surface. My journey will not be an easy voyage either, it will require skill and strength that only certain people are qualified for. The next island, it shall be a challenge we all must face even if it spits the reckoning death on ourself.
It is a trek of endurance that one must always learn, not an overnight ride that seems simple enough. But is does take time, time is something no one has much of anymore. Not those who dwell on the island and still hunt down whatever they can find, remembering what fellow folks had said back in Wano. Thinking back at the major flame incident, I lift up my coat slightly to reveal a rational burn mark that's been carefully examined and treated for.
People forget things once they leave it behind.
Perhaps we should learn from that. I never knew such rules existed in the beginning of my life. Never heard such words spoken, nor seen any for myself.
Though,  One could always think for themselves and do things however they wished. People would say different things but then again you did what you thought was right, being you.
Looking out at the horizon I am able to look far away beyond my sight but upon noticing an island, turning back to the fellow members, noticing them shouting commands at one at each other as I stood gripping the rails. Our progress shall become slower than what they were hoping for but nonetheless, We Are headed towards a new beginning...The beginning of another adventure...I guess...for us all.
"Furl the Sails! The wind is too strong!" Jinbe demands, looking off at the navigator whom seems to be complaining. "Are we close to making land, Nami?"
"Brr! It feels like we've entered an Islands Climate zone!...I guess the next island is a winter Island!" Nami shouts, shivering away from the cold, replying to the Fishman.
But her voice was almost unheard, yet again we failed to reach the next destination as soon as planned. Was it a fate of man made or naturally formed? Why do we lose so often on our journeys through life.
The waves crash on, farrowing faster then before.
It seems as though it will rip off anything that isn't fastened or tied down.
We're tired, drained and cold. As the sun has risen ever higher it takes more work to maintain a balance.
Tiredness overtakes us all and makes us lazier than ever, huddling together to keep warm. We hold on tightly while resting within our dreams. The thought of our purpose fades.
What exactly are we doing here? The moments before our captain shouts,
"Hey Nami! What in the world is that?!" His voice piercing the sky, pointing out to the strange enormous ball forming in the sky ahead.
peering over the edge with a gasp.
Standing up in front of me stands an imposing enormous ball form.
It was frighteningly big, looming larger than the buildings I had known back home. It would look like an ancient artifact compared to what we've known since. As I take a closer look, I notice that the surface of the ball is covered in intricate patterns and designs, almost like a map of some kind. I can't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder as I gaze upon this mysterious object.
Without warning, the ball begins to glow with a bright, pulsating light, causing me to shield my eyes.
"What are you... HUH?! AN EDDY CURRENT?!..BUT ITS GOING UPWARDS?"
"Yohoho! It looks like an Afro!" Brook exclaims, staring at the huge rounded ball, pointing to the current and then towards his hair.
"A rapid temperature change is dangerous! We got to run, Jinbe! We'll be swallowed up!" Nami shouts loudly, gaining the attention of everyone.
"Leave it to me!" Jinbe clamou knows they has a long way to go, they cannot afford any delays as there might not be time to make it back.
But while some leave quickly, others linger. A little ways away from them, some watching in despair, longing for their friends but knowing they can't do nothing.
"Wait! Someone's in the water!" The captain, who are leaving notices, pointing at the sea which is churning violently due to strong winds and currents.
A distant call echoes across the waves, a lady shouting for help.
"No..he's right! I can hear a lady in distress!" Sanji shouts, looking at the navigator, practically begging to turn the ship around.
"I'll cut it." Zoro blankly says, gripping onto one of his katanas, glaring at the current ahead.
He nods once, holding out the katana, its sharp blade gleaming in the light.
Sanji eyes him nervously, sensing that something's wrong but he had no idea what. Shouting, "You'd better not leave a scratch on the lady!"
Zoro glares at the Love Cook, "Do you trust me?" flashing a devilish grin, before he runs towards the current.
"Bird Dance!" Zoro yells out, cutting the current in halves, grabbing the lady.
However, before he could throw her onto the deck, she clung to the opposite edge, and was pulling herself back into the sea, clearly determined to keep her distance from Zoro due to the forceful grabbing.
Zoro yelps, anger bursting inside of him, glaring at the woman.
She continues pulling herself back, but with only five meters separating them now. It's close, so very close! So very dangerous! But...but, it could also end well. With a hard pull, Zoro managed to grab her shoulder, pulling her onto the ship.
With Sanji rushing forward, Zoro grabbed hold of her other arm, pushing her towards the cook. In disbelief Sanji shouts, "What the hell is going on?! Glaring at the Swordsman, noticing how he shoved the lady right before his eyes.
Whistling over, gaining their attention. I shout, "It's not the time for fighting you know?! I mean..Luffy and Chopper were just flown away!" Frustratingly pointing to the two in the air, wailing.

Please Come Back
"What are we going to do?" Poe asked. "We don't have anymore ships or resources, and we don't have anywhere that we can get more."
Rey remained silent, she knew a place where they could find some ships, but she didn't want to go back there. At one time she had wanted nothing more than to go back, but now she didn't want to go back. She didn't want to face her past or the loneliness that she had felt. She hoped that they could think of another option so that she wouldn't have to suggest it.
"We're running out of options." Said Leia. "Our allies have given up hope, one by one they've begun to give in to the rule of the First Order. Right now any idea is a good one."
Rey sighed, it seemed Jakku was their only hope. "I know where we can get some ships." She said.
Everyone turned to look at her as she spoke.
"There are a lot of ships on Jakku, some are damaged but not beyond repair. There are even some that still work, and I know where to find them." She explained.
Poe nodded, he had seen the vast supply of ships on his trip to Jakku. He also knew that on such a poor planet as Jakku food and water were more valuable than money, they could easily trade for the ships. Jakku was also fairly isolated from the rest of the galaxy. Many who lived on Jakku thought that the First Order and the Resistance was just a myth or rumor. And that could work to their advantage.
Leia nodded. "I think it sounds like a good idea." She said. "Rey, Finn, Poe and Chewbacca I want you to go to Jakku and gather as many ships as you can. I'll send in the rest of the Resistance as soon as I can."
"Jakku!" Finn exclaimed. "Why do we have to go back to Jakku!?!"
"I'm sorry Finn, but it's our only option." Said Leia.
Finn nodded but continued to complain under his breath about having to go to a desert junkyard.
"What are we going to do?" Poe asked. "We don't have anymore ships or resources, and we don't have anywhere that we can get more."

"I'm sorry Finn, but it's our only option." Said Leia.
Finn nodded but continued to complain under his breath about having to go to a desert junkyard.
Poe, Finn, Chewbacca and Rey had landed on Jakku, near the outpost. They could see many ships around it that would be useful for the Resistance.
But as they walked towards it, Rey stopped suddenly.
"What is it Rey?" Finn asked.
"I can't go there, I'll be recognized." She said. "They'll take me and keep me as their slave. And I'll be punished for running away and stealing the Millennium Falcon."
"We wouldn't let that happen." Said Finn.
Rey shook her head. She could defend herself and she knew that her friends would defend her too. But she didn't know how many might come for her. And she knew that if she was seen, she could jeopardize the mission. "I'm a danger to the mission." She said. "Go on without me, I think I know where some ships are."
"Okay." Said Finn. "But take this." He gave her a communication device.
She smiled. "Thank you." She said. Then she turned to leave.
She walked through the sand, until she came to the AT-AT she had called her home for so long. She climbed inside, careful to avoid the traps she had set to keep others from coming in. She walked over to the wall where she had placed marks, counting the days she had spent waiting for her parents.
She reached up to touch the wall. She could see two shadows on the shiny surface coming towards her. But as they came near, she saw only herself. Just like what she had seen in the mirror in the cave.
She closed her eyes and shook the memory away.
She could hear Ben's words echoing in her mind. "You're not alone." But she felt alone.
It was getting late, so she decided to spend the night here and set out the next morning. It would be a long walk to where she was going.
The next morning she rose early. She filled a canteen with water and took a quarter portion of food that she had found still sitting by the stove where she had left it. She took her staff and the repaired lightsaber and began walking through the sands of Jakku. She knew where a graveyard of ships was it was well hidden and she was among the few scavengers who knew where it was. It would be a long walk, but she hoped to find something there that would make it worth it.
She had been walking for many hours when she turned to look behind her. There was nothing within her view, no one for miles but her. A familiar feeling of loneliness washed over her.
"So lonely." His words echoed in her thoughts.
She looked out at the ocean of sand that surrounded her, imaging that it had been replaced by water. "You imagine an ocean." She heard the words he had spoken to her as clear as if he were standing next to her.
The thought of water made her thirsty and she took a small sip of her water, no more than a drop. Then she continued to walk in the direction that she was headed.
Soon the sun began to fall near the horizon, but there was still at least an hour of light left, so she pressed on. She knew this desert well, it had been her prison for most of her life.
With each step she felt loneliness swallow her, pulling her deeper and deeper.
Finally the sun began to sink beneath the horizon, so she set up camp with what little supplies she had. She built a fire to keep her warm. The fire would have been cheery, if her friends were here to share it. But they weren't and she was forced to spend more lonely days and nights on Jakku.
She stared into the embers of the fire, not able to think of anything but the day her parents had abandoned her.
"Rey." She heard a voice in front of her. His voice. She looked up to see him sitting across from her on the other side of the fire. But she knew that he wasn't here, this was just a Force connection.
She did not want to face him after what had happened. But she knew that she had to one day, and she was surprised when she actually felt relieved at the sight of him. She didn't want to see him, but in her deep loneliness she longed for company, anyone's company.
"Ben?" She said softly.
His deep brown eyes stared into her own. "Rey, are you alright?" He asked, noticing the tears in the corners of her eyes and sensing the pain that had caused them.
"I just feel lonely." She answered.
"Rey, remember what I told you, you're not alone." He said.
"I know," she answered. "I just feel alone. And I can't seem to stop thinking about the day that my parents left me."
"I know how you feel." He answered.
"I never got to thank you for saving me from Snoke." She said. "Thank you Ben."
"I couldn't let him kill you, not after we touched hands and I saw your past. I saw who you really are Rey..."
"No one," she interrupted.
"You are no one, but you're everything. I was born with title and a legacy to live up to. I was born as someone, but I am nothing. You were born with no name, no legacy to live up to. You were born as nothing, but you are everything. And I couldn't let you die." He said.
"Ben you're not nothing, not to me." She said.
"But I am a monster." He said.
"Kylo Ren is a monster, but you're not Ben. A monster wouldn't risk his life to save me." She said.
"So, you don't think I'm a monster?" He asked surprised.
She shook her head.
"Well, you would be the first." He said.
"You said that you saw who I really am. Well, I saw who you really are. And I didn't see a monster. I saw the good in you, I know there's still good in you." She said. "Ben please come back."
"Rey, I wish I could come back, for you. But I can't. I'm lost Rey, it's too late for me." He said then he disappeared.
Tears began to spill from her eyes, she wanted Ben to come back.
The next day, Rey received a message from Finn and Poe.
"Rey, General Organa has asked us to bring the ships that we've collected to the Resistance base. We'll be back to get you as soon as we can." Said Finn.
"Okay." She answered, then she turned off the com.
Tears stung her eyes. She knew that Finn and Poe didn't want to leave her, but she couldn't help but feel that she was being abandoned, left on Jakku again. They said that they would come back, but no one ever did. She was alone on Jakku again.
She continued to walk, she had to press on she would have to take care of herself, as she always had.
That night she ate the last of the food she had and she was running low on water. She would have to find food and water soon.
The next day, she arrived at a stretch of flat, hard, dry ground that was surrounded by mountain ranges. She opened her canteen and poured the last drops of water into her mouth. She tapped the bottom, desperate for every drop she could get.
She walked for miles but didn't find any water.
Finally by the end of the day she was tired, weak, hungry and thirsty. She sat down too weak to even make a fire. As she looked at the unfamiliar landscape, she realized that she was lost. She took out the communication device and contacted Finn and Poe. "I'm lost, and I don't have any food or water, can you come get me?" She asked.
"We can't come now, we'll get to you as soon as we can." Poe answered.
"Okay." She answered.
The desert was cold at night, but she was too tired to look for firewood. So she curled up on the ground and closed her eyes. She was cold and shivering, but she quickly fell asleep.
Ben saw her laying on the ground, sleeping. He noticed that she was shivering, so he draped his cloak over her. She snuggled into the warm cloth and stopped shaking.
Ben looked at her face, it was covered in sand. She was weak, he could sense it. He began to worry about her. Where was she? Wherever she was, he sensed that she wasn't safe. He bent down and gently stroked her head. "You're not alone, sweetheart." He said gently. "I'll watch over you." He came to his feet and stood there watching over her.
Rey's dreams were filled with a soothing voice telling her that she wasn't alone. She had felt a presence watching over her, protecting her when she couldn't protect herself. But when she opened her eyes she was alone.
She stood up, she had to find water. Her throat was dry and burning. And she felt a familiar pain of hunger. Deep hunger that stood on the edge of starvation.
She pressed on but grew weaker. She wanted to stop, but she couldn't she had no one to help her but herself. No one would ever come back for her. It was time she faced the truth, she was alone and always would be. No one cared about her enough to come back for her.
She began to stagger and fall backwards. But she didn't hit the ground, someone caught her. They gently wrapped their arms around her.
"Rey, are you okay?" Ben asked her.
She was too weak to stand so she leaned back against him. "I am lost in a desert. I don't have any food or water. And I'm all alone." She said. Tears trickled down her cheeks.
"You're not alone." He said gently. "Where are you? I will come for you."
"I'm on Jakku, in the middle of the desert I don't know where I am exactly." She said.
"That's okay, the Force will guide me to you." He said. "Get some rest, my tie silencer doesn't have landing gear, I'll fly it low, but you'll have to jump onto it."
Rey nodded. "I think I can do it." She said. "I will use the Force."
Ben came around to stand in front of her. "Stay here. I'll come back for you." He bent down and kissed her forehead. "I'll come back sweetheart, I promise."
The familiar words and the way he spoke the words soothed her. For once she actually believed that someone would come back for her.
She watched as Ben disappeared. Then she laid on the ground to rest.
Rey awoke, well rested. She could sense Ben nearby, she could feel him coming closer. She stood and faced the direction that he was coming from. She could just see his tie silencer on the horizon.
She pulled out her lightsaber and ignited it, so that he would be able to see her from the distance between them.
The tie silencer came towards her and she began to run away from it as quickly as she could to get enough momentum to jump up onto it. When the tie silencer was almost upon her she back flipped up onto its roof, using the Force to lift her higher.
Ben opened a small shaft on the tie silencer's roof. She climbed down into the cockpit with him. She sat down in the seat next to him. Then she leaned her head against his shoulder. "You came back for me." She said.
"I promised that I would." He whispered. Then he flew the tie silencer into space and let it orbit Jakku.
"You're the only one who has ever come back for me." She said.
"And you're the only one who never stopped believing that there was still good in me." He answered.
"Ben will you come back for me?" She asked softly.
He knew what she meant, back from the Dark Side. "Yes." He whispered.
"Thank you." She said, wrapping her arm around him. "Ben, I love you. I have loved you since the moment when we touched hands. But I was afraid to tell you, because I thought that you might leave me like everyone else."
"Rey, I will never leave you. I know how it feels to be left behind, and I would never do that to you on purpose. I love you. And I promise that I will always come back for you sweetheart." He said, then he gently kissed her lips.
She reached up to touch his cheek and pull him closer to her as she kissed him in return.
