something I’ve been thinking abt is how many people think Makoto is immune to despair. I don’t think he is. I think becoming the ultimate Hope was BECAUSE he felt despair. He wouldn’t have fully reached that point without Junko. Makoto becoming such a beacon was his last attempt to avoid completely falling and it wasn’t because he didn’t feel despair, it was because he was too damn stubborn to allow everything to go to waste and he refused to sacrifice his beliefs for someone else’s. His inner monologue tells me he DID experience the same new low the other suvivors did in the final trial, but at the point where he had the choice to give up and die, he looked at the others and he looked at Junko and he couldn’t allow it to happen, not out of self preservation, but because the idea that Junko would have control over their lives made him FURIOUS. and that utter refusal to die kicked in, wether luck or otherwise, and he made the concious effort for one last push while something in him was breaking. He had to be broken in order for the Ultimate Hope to come through so aggressively, bc it could only exist in the face of the Ultimate Despair. He snapped the same way she did, but in the other direction. In what could have been his final moments he chose to embody everything Junko wasn’t, and every single optimistic and luck fueled ideal in him suddenly charged forward and pushed him. It was a combination of the final straw and a choice. Makoto isn’t immune to feeling despair, he’s just too stubborn to fall into it of his own volition. I think that’s why I like that scene in DR3 so much. People were SO SHOCKED Makoto actually fell for the tape, that he actually became despair for a moment. I saw people getting mad or disappointed, saying it was pathetic and Makoto seemed to fall from some sort of pedestal for them. Honestly part of me wonders if that sort of mentality, which clearly people had in universe, affected Makoto a bit. Like he started to see himself as less of a person, subconsciously. Prompting him to take more risks, less self preservation, act way more bold. It seems he has to be reminded a lot not to put himself in danger by his friends, to not do something too reckless. All over the place I would see in regards to that scene either this frivolous ‘oh this was just angst drama with no meaning behind it’ or ‘he can do better than that. he’s so weak’ or ‘come on, there’s no way he’d fall into despair, he’s the Ultimate Hope!’ This kind of mentality, which was kind of ironic considering Ryota was there the entire time saying the same thing and treating Makoto the same way. Like Makoto was superhuman. Like Makoto didn’t feel despair the same way ‘normal people’ did. In a way that was also how Munakata saw Makoto. Makoto stopped being a PERSON to the world when he became Ultimate Hope, he became a concept, a belief system, much the same way Junko ascended beyond herself. But the difference is that treating Makoto that way is the opposite of the reason Makoto became such a representative for hope. He wasn’t doing something no one else could. He was doing something everyone had the chance to, he just… was a little more optimistic, a little more stubborn, a little more ‘gung-ho’ about things. He just took the lead where no one else did, where no one else knew they even COULD in the face of Junko’s unstoppable force. She had overcome the biggest threats and obstacles in the world, what could one person do? And the answer Makoto found was, anything. Everything. It doesn’t all rest on Makoto, he’s just the one that was inspired to try to do what seemed like the impossible. But as evidenced by the change in his friends after that trial, it’s clearly not something only Makoto is capable of. The others pulled out of despair thanks to Makoto, but it was their choice to do so.
“But… this world is so huge, and we’re so small. What can we do…? No, we can probably do anything. Yeah! We can do anything!”

Ok ok ok, I THINK I've finetuned why Poppy gets taken in the Dragon AU (outside of the childhood friends concept in my reblog).
Ok so. Poppy does want to make peace. Not just with other kingdoms and nations, but especially these creatures that are renowned for wreaking havoc across the land. Everyone who she talks to about them, including Ben, talk about them like they're dumb, evil things. So maybe that's part of the problem? If she treated them like fellow intelligent beings, she could at least get them to listen? That's what she hopes, at least.
While she's trying to figure out exactly how to accomplish this though, that's when the Dragon Patrol targeted her home. Of course it was terrifying, but she managed to get the opportunity to actually speak to them (with the aide of the guards) despite her husband's protests. She tried to reason with them and figure out what they wanted while ignoring Greasy's leering gaze with her kingdom. She offers to give them their most valued treasure (I'm not sure what) if they promise to leave her people be. To her, it'd be a small price to pay for everyone's safety. Though her family doesn't quite agree. Why should they bargain with these cretins and not just try to get rid of them for good?
Greasy is making suggestions in Spanish to Smartass, so Poppy can't understand what they're talking about- though she's more concerned about how twitchy Psycho is getting and how Wheezy looks ready to set something on fire. At first Smartass was going to scoff at her deal, though realizing how divided the royal family is about this, why not kill two birds with one stone; torment some humans by taking one of their own, and gaining this treasure if the others are willing to trade it for the princess' life. If not, well they can easily come back for it themselves after getting rid of her.
So that's what happened (so far. This may change in the future). Poppy tried to be peaceful and diplomatic, only to give these bastards an idea. And now she's stuck with them, knowing her life depends on whether or not Ben is willing to give up the kingdoms treasure for her. And every day that goes by, the more desperate she gets to escape and stay on the dragons good side. What do you think?
Oh Poppy my girl!! Oh that's so upsetting for her!! She was just trying to be g o o d.
Smartass I swear-
Well, she'll probably be happier with them then with Ben at least.

Coming this weekend...
Tama! She's a very young pomsky (Pomeranian/Husky) puppy and the last of her litter waiting to find her forever home. I applied and got accepted! I meet her foster mom this weekend to take her home after passing a background check, house check, vet check, and reference check. Her foster mom was a stickler about the quality of the home she went to, Tama secretly being her favorite of the entire litter.
I was really surprised to find Tama was the last of her litter to be adopted out. So was her foster mom, who explained to me that Tama is a very rare and very special mix of genetics. Her coat is lavender, which is common in some cat breeds, but only present in Pomeranians and Pom mixes when you're talking about dogs, and her eyes are deep green, which is essentially a product of pure luck and chance, since green is also the rarest eye color for dogs. "Tama" seemed like a fitting name for her, being Japanese for "jewel". She may be a puppy, but there's something very special about her to me.
I'm so thrilled to be able to take her home with me. I grew up with Pomeranians, and love Huskies, but couldn't adopt a regular one due to their high energy lifestyles and size; Tama is the perfect meeting in the middle of being small enough for me to keep up with, while also being big enough that I won't have to worry about her outside with the large eagles and owls we have out here that prey on small breeds. She's sweet, intelligent, quiet, and inquisitive, and is the first pet I've felt a special bond with since I lost my furbaby, Sean, a couple of years ago before he could turn 11. I'm hoping to bring her up with the manners and socialization to qualify her as an ESA if her temperament fits the role. It's been very hard for me to leave the house without a little companion with me, and I'm hoping Tama and I will soon be going on adventures and making new friends together :)

(Kyleigh's POV)
We had a great time at Parker and Lana's wedding, we love being able to welcome new members into the family and Lana was no different. She's made such an effort to get to know Barrett and I, as well as making sure to get to know our kids as their future auntie. Lana was also gracious enough to have the girls in her bridal party, she had Chloe as a junior bridesmaid whilst Rose, Violet, and Daisy were flowergirls. The older they get the more kids are included in different family weddings, though now there's only 3 potential immediate family weddings left for the kids to maybe have a part in. The girls love weddings, whenever they hear of a wedding we'll be going to, that's all they can think about and talk about, they'll even put on mini weddings with their toys. I think it's great that the girls are aspiring to marriage, I think it's healthy for little girls to have good ideas about marriage, since the world seems to put out negative messages about it.
We made great time heading back from Oasis Springs, the day after we got back I went into labour and little Jackson joined the family! Little Jackson brings the count to 6 girls and 5 boys, the boys are ecstatic to have another brother, AJ and Benji have been competing with who will get to hold him and feed him a bottle when it's feeding time.
Chloe has taken an interest in my garden, I've planted some herbs and veggies so that we've got easy access to healthy food and little cost. Feeding 10+ people means being smart with how we source our food, a lot of fruits and veggies we get are actually from the big house. Barrett's great aunt actually started the garden at the big house years ago, with his aunt Danielle taking over afterwards, and now Macie maintaining the garden. The garden has been growing and producing to maintain the upkeep of a large family, so Macie drops off some stuff that's in season or when I'm taking the kids over for their music lessons I'll leave with a healthy basket of goods.
With Chloe taking an interest in gardening, I'm going to use this to my advantage and incorporate this into the kids science lessons. Right now we have loads of flowers and a few good apple trees, so I'll work on more fruits and vegetable seeds to plant in the garden.
