yeah idk maybe just consider that all your favorite fics were wips at one point and one writer liked it enough to spend hours turning that wip into a finished fic and I doubt they were writing just to write an ending
like that fic did not emerge fully formed as a multi chapter novel length anon divergent masterpiece on ao3 one day!!! even if a fic is all posted at once, ONE person knew it and loved it as a wip or it never would have been posted at all!!!
like come on!!! think about fic writers as people who are experiencing their wip more than you ever will no matter how many times you read it and I promise the concept of liking a wip will NOT blow your mind

I want to hear your thoughts on fandom and the recent influx of the term content creation!
Well, anon, you are in luck! (Or not, depending on your definition of luck. 😉) I just so happen to have many Thoughts & Opinions™ about this. I will get wordy, this will get lengthy, and I will be social and put most of my thoughts under a readmore cut.
I personally try to avoid the terms ‘content’ and ‘content creation’ when talking about fandom works and a fandom’s creative pursuits nowadays. Occasionally, sure, it happens that it slips out anyway – it’s a term we’re all really used to using! – but I want to be as mindful about its use as possible. This is a personal decision on my account and I won’t get uppity about other people’s use of these terms, though.
But, Killy, you might say... why would you avoid using these terms? For me, here’s why:
Content is not synonymous with art;
Content creation indicates something different than art creation;
Fandom should not be subject to consumerism;
Fandom is about connection.
If all a fandom puts out is classified as content, that fandom is going to die.
Yeah. I know. Melodramatic much? I’m on my fainting couch here, folks. 😂 But let’s dig in, shall we?
You know, maybe it’s just the archivist in me that balks at the term ‘content’. Content is a data entry field in the archival system we use at my real-life job: literally speaking, this data entry field is where we put a brief summary of the document attached to that specific archival file. It contains information that tells you the key takeaways of what the document is about, but it will not contain the full text of the document itself. Content is one of the points of access for our archival search: I know what I’m looking for, so I put a few keywords into our search and it pulls up the relevant file. But what do I need, really need, in my line of work? It’s the document itself, not the data entry field. The document tells me the whole story that I need to be able to truly do my job well. The content-field is a cliffnotes edition of that story.
It’s the same way with the art we create in fandom. I’m gonna take myself as an example here, because I create a fair bit! (Shocking, I know. Local Tumblr cryptid sighting, more at 11. 😎) I spend hours writing fic. I spend hours sorting through screencaps before screeching at Photoshop for a lengthy amount of time. I spend days pouring over quotes, books, documents, photographs, tutorials, and other things that will help me create something cool. I apply color theory, art framing/perspective, narrative focus, and many other theories and techniques to my writing and my giffing. If I were to put my finished work or any of my WIPs in that same archive system, it would be the document within the archival file. The tags I use on my posts? Those are markers similar to the content-field. They tell you who my gifset depicts and from which show it is. They tell you which OC of mine my fic is about. My work contains these things I tagged.
But my creative work is not content itself.
Content is marketable, easy access, blurb-y stuff. Content is something you absorb within one minute flat. Content is the highlight reel. It’s what fills a page, something you’ll scroll past in a heartbeat, something that barely stands out in a long long long list of stuff. Content is what you consume on a lazy Sunday afternoon without ever being forced to read lengthy pieces, take in the details of what you see, pause mid-scroll to ponder the meaning of life, whatever else have you. Create content and you create a flash in the pan, a quick laugh maybe, before it fizzles back out again. Create content and it’s here today and gone tomorrow without anyone mourning its absence for too long.
Art should last longer than that, don’t you think? 😉
So when I see people put a fic request in an askbox and it’s phrased like “Speirs x spy!reader fluff” and that very same request makes its way into about ten more askboxes before the fandom starts comparing asks? I might be inclined to classify us all as slot machines. Put an ask in and out rolls a fic. Who cares which slot machine it came from? As long as you’ve got your painstakingly crafted fics that you consume the same way you do actual content, right? We, its writers, are just lucky if we get a pat of acknowledgement on our little slot machine head for our troubles, aren’t we?
When I see an overly detailed summary of what sounds like a full-fledged fic in an askbox and the demand is “write this for me”, I recoil from the screen and go “child, who the hell birthed you, were you raised in a barn?” out loud. If you can tell a story in the space of an askbox, consider asking for help to let that story – a story you own, a story that is more yours that it could ever be mine – grow into what it has the potential to be.
When I see fics and gifsets and other creations get likes but not reblogs, I mutter something about the state of fandom economy these days. We exist in a little fandom bubble. Our bubble can’t expand or blow from place to place without a little help from our friends. And you’re my friends, right? I know the follow-button says follow, guys, believe me, I’m not that far gone, but for me ‘follow’ means ‘friend’. 💚 You’re my buddy now. Suck it up. We’ll share a can of peaches. 🍑
When I see fics and other creations get reblogged without tags or comments attached, I die a little on the inside. I feel like a little Victorian orphan child going “please, reblogger, a little penny of thought for its creator, if it pleases?”. I feel like commentless and/or tagless reblogging is giving me nothing, nothing at all, about who you are.
And I want to get to know you! I want to know who’s in my notes. I want to know who’s scrambling through my MotA gifsets like a fat little raccoon inhaling its third helping of a box of jelly-filled donuts. I want to know who is adopting which character and why. I want to know that it’s your birthday, or that you had a bad day and needed a pick-me-up, or that you are locked in an Ikea at three in the morning reading my blog by the bright lights of countless Solhetta bulbs. I want to know that you love my OC Darlene but that you ain’t sure what the hell my OC Lottie’s got to do with anything. I want to know what tickles you – a turn of phrase I used, a color in a gifset, a little detail I captured that made me go !!!!!! on the inside while I was creating too – and I want to know what moves you.
What reaches into the soil of your being and nourishes you enough to blossom into whichever lovely self you can grow to be? What is precious to you? What comforts you in the dark nights of your soul, when all light feels like it’s faded out? What do you love, truly love? What feeling and thought and idea and love love LOVE do you consume – truly consume, head to tail, no takebacks – and what are you consumed by in turn?
Let me connect with you. Let me know the little internet scraps of you that tell me you’re a DeMarco girlie, or that you’re here for Hoosier only, or that you’re as feral and batty about Speirs as I am, or that you actually really can’t stand the one dude everyone else raves about. Let me know that you like angsty quotes on gifsets – feel free to yell at me for making you schedule an impromptu therapy session – or let me know you saw what I did in my fic there and you’ll be demanding compensation from me while you lie down and wail about it. Let me know you’re very into those lovely blues on a gifset (I know, SO good, right??) or that you are side-eyeing me because that close-up of your fave turned you into a little puddle.
Let me know what moves you, because I created these things with love. I created them because they moved me, too. I created them because I have a story to tell, somehow. I created them because the whole world is a string of stories and I want to pass the heart of them on to you. I created them not because I want to jump on a hypetrain that races past all the episodes and all the alternate universes and all the stories without stopping, but because I want to soak up the sun and point at something and tell you “look, isn’t this beautiful?”. I created them not because I am looking for a quick fix or a distraction or an escape, but because I want to give you something that nourishes you as it has nourished me.
That’s so much more than that quick flash in the pan, yeah? That’s so much more than what content could ever hope to be. That’s something that lasts beyond the clicks and gives you an ever-expanding horizon that leaves you wondering just what in the world is next.
Let me repeat point five: if all a fandom puts out is classified as content, that fandom is going to die. Because content doesn’t sustain you. Connection does. And connection? That happens with meaningful interaction. That happens when you stop getting followers and start getting friends. That happens when you treat all forms of art as something unique that can be precious to someone, rather than something to like today and forget about tomorrow.

I want to say Happy Ending for the title lol but really it’s Soul of Ice, which so nearly had a heartbreaking ending but I couldn’t do that to my babies!
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Nope, the Snapedom is generally very positive! And who could hate Dad Snape?!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I’ll write pretty much any smut, but I prefer it to be part of a wider context, hence why I don’t write a lot of one-shot smuts. The one-shots I do write are pretty freaky though 😎
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
No, I’d get too lost in the lore trying to explain why the crossover was happening 😂
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Yeah, y’all remember when this happened?

No, nobody is insane enough to try and translate my whopper of a fic 😂

No, I don’t see how it’d work personally, although I am big into using people as soundboards. Soul of Ice would be very different without @sevsnapes and For the Love of Books wouldn’t even exist without @snowblossomreads
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
doctorrose, though I’ll probably never write for them. Any form of Snape/Happiness is a-ok in my book but Snephy is obviously my favourite form of that.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I’m gonna finish them all! I promise! Eventually!!
16. What are your writing strengths?
Characters. The most common compliment I get is that people like my OCs, Abbie in particular.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I’m always conscious that my narration isn’t very descriptive. It feels very “he did this and she did that, then they did this and that.” I do try to go back and flourish it a bit but I struggle to be anything other than literal in my descriptions. eg, if I had to describe a table I’d be like, “The table was a rectangle with four legs. It was made of wood.” 😂
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
If I felt the need to do that for whatever reason I’d probably do it like, “Insert dialogue here,” she said in German.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
I DON’T THINK I’VE EVER TOLD THIS STORY ok so I was like 9 or something like that and I wrote a snamione story but my mum found out and made me stop because Hermione was like 13. So I did stop but I didn’t just ghost the story, I made a post that my mum said I couldn’t write it anymore but that Hermione finds out Snape is getting married so she gets together with Ron instead. I don’t remember much of what I actually wrote, only that it started with Hermione noticing that Snape had very sad eyes. I’m pretty sure this was before the last book came out so I clearly knew what was up!
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Soul of Ice, always and forever. (I count Professor Snape II as being part of it.)

Not bad enough that I remember. I used to have older works up before I regrettably purged them from existence that I remember getting rude comments on but wouldn’t necessarily categorise as hate

I know a lot of people find it unnecessary and jarring but I love it. Especially because it can encourage people to become interested in a new language

Oh it’s definitely gonna be Sundowning when I finish it. But so far my fav posted one is probably headshot holidays (ghost/soap) or music of the night (newt/hermann)

hmm! i think it’s a tie between thunder in our hearts, baby (a repo! band AU in which a zombie apocalypse happens) and we were warm until we went to hell (a star trek repo! au). they’re my only two works with the MCD tag, so.

gosh. i dunno. maybe last night i had a dream that you adored me, just because it’s a college AU where shilo is briefly aware of what happened in canon and really appreciates what she’s got.
do you get hate on fics?
no! thankfully. the closest i got was a comment recently telling me what i should do for the next installment of the series without even an “i liked this!” so. like i said. i’m thankful.

i have just resigned myself to not being a person who writes smut, okay. some of us just can’t.

so i started a sandman/sg1 crossover like a year and a half ago and i do, in fact, have a decent chunk of it written! i am still in love with the concept! (hob gadling, the man who doesn’t die, and daniel jackson, the man who dies so much they make jokes about it in-universe; also, hob gadling, the man who doesn’t die, versus everyone’s favorite space vampire wasps.) but at this point idk if i’ll ever actually finish it.
what are your writing strengths?
i am being! kind! to myself! i am good at getting into characters’ heads.
what are your writing weaknesses?
sometimes i have trouble figuring out where to start something, and if i can’t figure that out i have real trouble just jumping ahead in the scene. i’m getting better on it though. (also, ends of scenes my beloathed.)
thoughts on dialogue in another language?
i … don’t know what this question means? positive?

sailor moon. in 2001. it was on geocities. and honestly it’s best for everyone that it’s lost to time.
favourite fic you've written?
a tie, i think, between i want to believe, which i linked already, because i love outsider POV and ended up loving the students, and be careful what you say (or you’ll give yourself away) because a) i love barclay/agent stern and b) it still makes me laugh.

🎈describe your style as a writer; is it fixed? does it change?
so have you ever read a stephen king book? if you have, that's it, that's the style, i stole it from him, lol. when i went back to reread the dark tower books a couple years ago and i got to the first like mini-chapter of the gunslinger i was like. fuck dude. you read a series at a formative enough time and you'll steal an entire writing style from it, lol.
i feel (i hope!!!!) like my writing style changes, if subtly, from fandom to fandom, though, bc i try really hard to emulate the vibe of whatever piece i'm riffing off of. to go back to jill's ask, i think that's why i used to get so many compliments on my trc fics - i dedicated a lot of effort to mimicking maggie stiefvater's style as best i could, and that really resonated with folks; more than once people told me "this feels like it could be a chapter of one of the books!" and i am very big-headed about that and will brag about it until i die, probably.

difficult to say lately, if i'm being honest!!!!!
in overanalyzing it over the past few months, though, here's where i'm at for the moment: i think there are two main kinds of fic that i write. the first is the kind i write mostly for me, when a piece of media is making my brain go brrr and i just want to play with it, regardless of whether anyone else on earth cares about it at all. the second is the more i guess "fandommy" kind, when it's more of, like, an offering. it's me putting something out into the world and going TALK TO ME ABOUT THIS!!!!!! BE EXCITED ABOUT THIS WITH ME!!!!! WHERE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO ARE EXCITED ABOUT THIS AT????? COME HERE AND BE MY FRIEND!!!!!!!
i get a lot more out of the first kind than the second kind.
when i'm writing fic just because something makes my brain go brrr, i'm like perfectly content playing by myself in my little sandbox, and it's just kind of a bonus if people end up engaging with it.
when i'm writing fic because something makes my brain go brrr and i want people to care about it with me, well, that can leave me feeling pretty hollow and awful when i post something and it gets a lukewarm response, which is like. nine times out of ten, lol.
i haven't figured out how to feel less bad when i post a fic that i want people to care about and it gets a handful of kudos and no comments, but. the first step is identifying the problem, haha, right?

“Why did you bring me here?” Dazai asked. His voice was empty of emotion, as if he had cried it all out at the bar earlier.
Oda didn’t answer. Instead he nudged Dazai’s hand with the glass of water he’d fetched until the boy sullenly pushed himself up into a sitting position and wrapped his fingers around it.
“I’m not the kind of person you want knowing where you live,” Dazai pressed. “Why should I let you live after I told you my plan for the boss?”
Oda smiled wryly down at him, but he only nodded at the glass. “Drink that.”
Dazai made a face but obediently brought the glass to his lips and began to sip. A moment of silence passed before he spoke again, quietly. “You don’t have to take care of me,” he said. “That’s how you end up like Chuuya.” He stared down at his bandaged reflection in the surface of the water. “It’s not worth it.”
Something clenched around Oda’s heart. “Dazai.”
Dazai looked up, and Oda could think of no excuse, no logical reason for a boy so young to look so tired.
“What happened to Chuuya isn’t your fault,” Oda said.
Dazai smiled one of his insincere smiles, one that didn’t quite reach his one exposed eye.

So I was a fan of Ava and Sister Beatrice in season 1 but I didn’t realize how much until I watched Season 2. The slow burn is real in season 2 but it’s so good. Normally when a show adds a male character in, the LGBT storyline kind of takes the way side, but not in this one. It’s made clear right from the start that Ava likes Beatrice and Beatrice likes Ava but the two of them are so focused on protecting each other, they don’t stop to experience what’s happening. That is until Ava goes into a fight she is expecting to die from. Then it all comes out. Wow. I can’t think of a single storyline that’s like this one. I absolutely loved it. So much so that I’m about 3,100, words into writing a post season 2 storyline because if you watched past the couple credits, you saw that it was clear Ava came back. You don’t see it, but you know it.

In episode 2x04 before the church fight, I love how Ava and Beatrice got into that church via different means. Ava played along with the whole “I want to be saved by Adriel” by accepting him, and Beatrice chose violence, literally throwing the man into the church. Ava was just like “Si, Si, yes, awesome.” And Beatrice probably got asked the question, and immediately punched him in the face.

I think one of the best behind the scenes things about Season 2 of Warrior Nun is that they wrote it before Season 1 even aired. So they had full intentions to make Avatrice canon, and have them hanging out in Switzerland for two months, getting closer day by day, living in an apartment, sleeping on one bed, Ava falling from a hotel, then falling love, all of it. They didn’t write it knowing that there were people that loved the fandom, they did it because that was the plan all along. So… now knowing how much of a following there is for Avatrice, I really want a season 3 to see just how far they take it. How do you write a season knowing that your ship, that you had created, actually is well loved among a lot of people? Im very curious.
Keep watching Warrior Nun. I don’t even know what playthrough I’m on now, but don’t stop.

Next to Beatrice being tranquilized in 2x03, one of the most interesting parts of that episode was that Father Vincent had no clue what Ava and Beatrice were doing in Switzerland. So much so that when he caught them in Madrid, he immediately tranq’ed Beatrice thinking that would be enough to capture Ava. But what he didn’t realize was that Beatrice had been training Ava, so she was just as powerful of a fighter as Beatrice is.
In most things, video games, tv, whatever, you try to subdue the one that will cause you problems. In this situation, Father Vincent assumed Beatrice was the power player here, which she definitely is, but he wasn’t expecting Ava to actually have more of a grip on her halo powers. Had he gone after Ava first, he might have captured her… but I suspect not because as previously stated, there is a reason he went after Beatrice first. He knows he probably couldn’t beat her in a fight.
Basically, what I love most about this show is that there are so many angles to everything. You could look at a moment in a bunch of different ways, and still find it so interesting. At least that’s what I’m finding in all of my rewatches.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?
29 and counting…seriously the amount of startup fics I have in the background instead of me continuing/finishing the ones I have is startling…pretty sure it’s 17 plus a request I haven’t started just for Modern Family alone. 5 of those are not MoFy.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
272,137 as of posting this.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
If we’re only going by Ao3: Modern Family, Penguins of Madagascar, H20: just add water, Gravity Falls, All Hail King Julien, Good Omens (crossover), Stranger Things (crossover and probably only one), Big Time Rush tv.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Biggest to smallest: We were kids on the street (MoFy), Glass Walls (MoFy), Sibling Honesty Policy (H2O), The Dunphy sister team up (MoFy), Return to California (MoFy)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I really try to the best I can! I like people to know that I appreciate they took the time to write comments. I try to be professional because idk how old people are unless they volunteer that information. Also I've gotten a request twice so that's nice. I did write a MoFy request 'The Dunphy sister team up'.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably ‘Is there hope in a world so bleak?’ (MoFy) because it’s a zombie story, post apocalyptic, so who they lost are never coming back and they just have to deal with life as it is now. And I may have written and deleted a tidbit where Cam and Mitch die together at the end and hated it. Theatre (also MoFy) ended not with Jay fully accepting Mitch is gay, but ‘it was something’ like a baby step.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Honestly, most of my fics end up having a happy ending. I’m a sucker for that. My most bittersweet one feels like Camaraderie. Maybe We Are the Penguins since it ended with Kowalski and Rico dating, Marlene and Skipper dating, and all but Private graduated high school, and leaving the door open to a sequel I’m writing. Maybe ‘If we stay’ only for fixing the ending to Modern Family.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Once someone on FFNet said a thing I wrote was f-ing stupid. I think it was my Pokemon story that tried to keep up with the ever increasing generations and probably because I put Red in without knowing his significance to the community. I mean, I’d rather be given ideas on how to improve. While it wasn't hate, I've received comments that were just odd to me recently on FF and I'm like...ok the story's ancient, let it rest please or stop reading if things bother you so much which were non issues. End question before ramble/rant
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Once. Modern Family Camchell, it was sorta surfacy but got the message across. I think I write heavy implications better.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I’m a sucker for some crossovers when I believe they can happen. My craziest one posted is part of Multiverse Adventures was Gravity Falls meets Stranger Things.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I hope not, but what are they going to do? Copyright something that I don’t even own, good luck with that.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes, I had some story translated into Korean. I wish I saved a pic or the site name because FFNet got rid of links and idk what site it was on. Now I’m thinking question 11 can be entirely possible. But again, I don't own the fandom of which it came.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope. I’m not opposed to it.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Is it weird to put an OC in this? If not, King Julien (Penguins of Madagascar) and my OC Josie. If no OC, then Skipper and Marlene and Kowalski and Rico from the same series followed closely by Camchell (Cameron and Mitchell, Modern Family)
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I have an original work I call Quintuplets about fostered siblings in the tentative care of their aunt and uncle. I do have a story in The Last of Us universe focused on four siblings fleeing a fallen quarantine zone, I have more hope of finishing that one though.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue, scenes and characterization (I was once told I described the building the human versions of the Penguins from PoM too much and didn’t focus on what was happening)
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
If there’s too many characters, I kinda forget some sometimes. Probably scene transitions and I’ve found endings to longer stories a bit of a challenge and I end up skipping through years to finish it.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
If it fits. To use Modern Family as an example, Gloria frequently speaks in Spanish, so why not if it fits in the story?
19. First fandom you wrote for?
The Penguins of Madagascar. Begin flashback sequence: There I was, bored. Super bored. Nothing to do because state testing. Then. I thought of the episode of PoM where Private went on a sugar high and thought he saw a sky orca (Skorca). I proceeded to write a story where it happened again, but tragedy struck like an eighteen wheeler on a leader penguin…A scrapped part of that story led to what I feel is one of the best stories I’ve ever written (Camaraderie) until Ao3
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
Almost answered that too soon. On FFNet, my favorite is Camaraderie (could you tell?), a Penguins of Madagascar fic. a tale of love, loss, betrayal, and friendship (why didn’t I ever change the summary? I strongly believe my falling out of love for fandoms and writing is due to how sad I was that it was over. It led into years long hiatus.
On Ao3, probably We were kids on the street (Modern Family). (This is my ‘final’ decision after originally typing this and four other fics)

AHAH… okay there’s ONE (1) person who like Knows and actually seen a snippet of fic too lmaoooo. it’s not embarrassing when I tell her because she knows all my embarrassing tastes in manga so like. what’s there to be cringe abt. all of my other friends do generally know. I feel like I did mention to them once lmao and they do know I write stuff. I’ve shown them some og stuff but FANFIC IS JUST DIFFERENT !!! especially to the knows that have watched anime. I couldn’t. I feel like I did mention it long ago to fam, but lmao, memory is foggy.

okay, I literally cant say what’s the “best” because theyre ALL best to me. I mean like they are deff ones that touched me more than others but like literally just thinking of this Q had me big smiling…..I Love interaction, I Love engagement & feedbacks on fics and theyre all so v lovely. I love it when we’re able to go back and forth and stuff…..and jeez there’s that comment that really touched me and still is in the back of my mind. so like long short cut short: there was a lot I was proud in that fic and kinda wished someone talked abt those points and THEY DID…. V EXTENSIVELY TOO when I didn’t at all expected it…. and like, hhhhh this is reminding me now I lot of interactions/feedback and stuff I had that is v Fond in my heart. theyre all so <3333 can’t be grateful enough.

20. What’s the greatest gift you’ve gotten from your writing?
oh, this is such a cute & lovely question….adore it….but really big one too, ahahah. “greatest gift” mmmmh. hard to answer, tbh. I’d say joy !!! because that’s what I got a lot from my writing. I love to write. I love putting those ideas to life. I love rereading them. I love rambling/gushing abt them. it’s only one of my greatest joy in my life. i ask nothing of you by wyoheartsmusic - author summary: Five months after the sex tape scandal, the Hillerska rowing team is going on an away trip for the Nationals. When they get to their hotel, it turns out there’s been a mix-up with the rooms and Simon didn’t get assigned a room. Despite things still being awkward between them, Wilhelm offers that Simon stay in his room with him. Multi-chaptered fic that is beautifully written, creative, fluffy, pretty much everything you want in a fic! It made me smile so much! Must-read. [34k, WIP, Chapters: 5/7]
A Snow Globe's Chance by im_having_a_crisis - I absolutely love how this author writes Wilhelm and Simon, very true to their characters. Another Christmas break/Season 2 fic, Wilhelm and Simon can’t fully stay away from each other. Lots of mutual pining, angst and Wilhelm’s anxiety. [9k, WIP, Chapters: 3/?]
Running with a crown on your head by vernice - another Christmas break fic, 2-part series. Wilhelm’s mum isn’t so bad in this one and his parents are pretty supportive. Lots of romance and sweetness, warning: sexual content included, don’t read if that’s not your thing. [4k, 2 parts] Read: Part 2
You Can't Always Get What You Want by GeekingOutDaily - pure fluff. It’s short but creative. Feels very true to the characters like it could’ve actually happened in the show. Includes mention of sexual tension but it's not explicit. [1k, Chapters: 2/2]
We could just kiss (like real people do) by Sofia_with_an_f - canon-compliant, multi-chaptered fic exploring the aftermath of the “sex tape” being leaked. Hurt/comfort, Wilhelm/Felice/Madison friendship, and Simon/Wilhelm’s relationship following the tape leak. [11k, WIP, Chapters: 10/?]
Alex, ¡ayúdame! by toffeelemon - part of the author’s Red, White and Royal Blue crossover series. Wilhelm and Simon go to Alex Claremont-Diaz for help with sexuality, coming out and sex advice. Wholesome and fluffy. Discussion of sex and sexual content included, it is done very nicely but don’t read if that’s not your thing. [14k, Chapters: 2/2]

let's start a revolution by villiageidiot - so so beautifully written. Season 2 fic about Wilhelm being happy Simon didn’t leave Hillerska, and Wilhelm asks Simon if he can still see him sometimes. Lots of pining and sweetness. [1k, One-shot]
Hillerska Missteps by princewilhelm (ranpoandpoe) - the one where Wilhelm and Simon get their weekend together at Hillerska after all, basically AU where Erik didn’t die at the end of Episode 3. Fluff, sweetness and Slow dancing. [1k, one-shot]
After episode one, Wilhelms eyes closed and the music starts by embracedthevoid - short piece showing the “missing moment” after Wilhelm closed his eyes at the end of Episode 1. The tension is captured so well, seeing into Wilhelm’s mind in those moments. Absolutely loved it. It’s the first part of a “Missing Moments” series. [1k, one-shot (for now)]
Keep Me Company by cmere - another “what if Wilhelm and Simon got their weekend at Hillerska after all and Erik lived'' fic. Which I love so much. You get Wilhelm + Simon banter, awkwardness and Erik teasing. [2k, one-shot]
unlove's the heavenless hell and homeless home by Yubnubforhire - beautiful piece about Wilhelm being alone post 1x06 and Simon deciding to be there for him, and what happens when they get back to Hillerska. Very emotional and lovely dialogue written between Simon and Wilhelm. [5k, one-shot]
my thoughts are filled with you by lazybug16 - a lovely rewrite of 5 scenes where Wilhelm and Simon were interrupted by August, basically an AU where they weren’t interrupted and we get to have the full scenes. Very fluffy and lots of pining, guaranteed to make you smile. [3k, one-shot]
worst kept secret in history by toffeelemon - Wilhelm holds Simon’s hand in public the first day back from Christmas break. They slowly just let things happen, letting people think whatever they want. Exploration of Wilhelm’s anxiety. It’s funny and SO fluffy. [10k, one-shot]
Love Over Fear by Werewolves_are_friends_not_fiends - AU where Wilhelm comes out to the press in Episode 6 and Simon and his family comfort him. Hurt/Comfort but also fluffy. [1k, one-shot]

Katsuki Bakugou doesn’t have a gentle bone in his body. He’s aggressive in everything he does and does everything with 100% of his heart in it. After the Sport’s Festival, Katsuki starts to get harassed by strangers for his unheroic demeanor. It starts with letters but it doesn’t end there. The moment Katsuki realizes the harassment has entered dangerous territory and he needs to tell someone, it’s already too late.

hands down my favorite fic in the fandom right now. it’s the one that converted me into a Bakugou lover. if you have any fondness for Bakugou as a character then it’s likely you’ve read this one already, but if not, I can’t recommend it enough. incredibly depressing, but with the hope that comfort is coming soon in the next few chapters.

Bakugou is spiraling in the aftermath of Kamino and his friends are starting to notice. He's stubborn, aggressively independent, and less than willing to dig into his past, but after a breakdown that ends with a painful secret revealed, he starts to get help.

Meanwhile, a new kind of villain threatens an uneasy peace following the loss of Allmight. Whispers build as a new narrative slowly takes shape:

I rarely see mental health genuinely handled well in fics, but this one goes above and beyond. kudos to the author for doing such excellent research into psychology, and making the application of it in here not-boring. also, while this one does have abusive!Mitsuki, it’s done in a way that feels realistic, and how I usually will see it occur in real life, rather than just for the hurt/comfort feels.
fair warning, the fic can be incredibly triggering (themes of severe depression, PTSD, panic attacks, rape survival, abuse survival, suicidal ideation/attempted suicide, among other things), so be safe and heed the tw’s if you decide to read. legitimately one of my Top Favorite fics in this fandom.

Anyone in the underbelly of society would recognize him, after the publicity of both UA’s Sports Festival and the events leading up to All Might’s fall. The uniform he was wearing cast away any doubts about the young man’s identity.
It was a bit of a surprise that the little firecracker presented as an omega.

Or: there are certain types of evil that seemed too distant, archaic violations and perversions that would never actually threaten bright-eyed heroes-in-training in the clean, modern world...but sometimes those evils aren't as distant as one might think.
remember when I said that I love a/b/o fics that are full of plot and world-building and gender-induced tension? that’s this one. the OC’s are fabulous and you love to hate ‘em. also, it’s the fic that made me fall head-over-heels for the TodoBaku dynamic, so it’s got a special place in my cold, dead heart.
be warned, there are rather explicit non-con scenes between an adult (OC) and a minor (Bakugou) in this one, but the author warns for them in advance, and you could likely skip those parts without missing too much if you need to.

Rather than the police station, Katsuki's friends bring him to a hospital after rescuing him from the villains. His wounds were minor, but it didn't make having them treated any less important. As it would so happen, Best Jeanist was also brought to this hospital after the attack.
Sometimes, small choices have a big impact on how a story plays out.
classic Bakugou hurt/comfort. this fic opened me up to the potential that could be a genuinely good Best Jeanist & Katsuki mentor-mentee relationship, and I kind of dig it and search ravenously for it in other fics now. I’m also a huge fan of the behind-the-scences Pro Hero Chat group.

paaaaaaiiiiiiiin. the hurt is ALIVE in this one. lots of tortured, angsty exploding child goodness. the OC’s are excellently crafted, and the Bakugou & Eri relationship? beautiful. definitely deserves a read.

In the wake of Kamino, Katsuki is tested more than anyone could imagine. Bound by a villain’s quirk to keep his silence or die, he lives each day knowing it might very well be his last. He continues to work towards becoming a hero, keeping his secret from his classmates and teachers, focusing on making it through each day and trying not to allow the panic or depression to get the best of him. When the villain finally corners him with demands in exchange for his life, there is really only one answer Katsuki Bakugou can give.
honestly don't know which I want updated more - social media 101 or ground zero. this author's fics are amazing, and I really wasn't expecting the twist in this one. can't wait for windschild to come back to this fic some day.

3.1. A Code of Ice and Fire: Crossover with GOT – Lelouch, his two younger siblings, and Lelouch’s most loyal followers are reincarnated into Westeros. Lelouch proceeds to make it his lifelong mission to drive Cersei into frothing fits and strengthens the Baratheon dynasty to the point that even Tywin is impressed by his grandson’s machinations. So when Suzaku hits his knees in front of Lelouch, swearing eternal devotion and vowing to make Lelouch the next emperor nobody panics. (They should really reconsider panicking.) 3.3. The Sun Also Rises: At the moment of his death in the Zero Requiem, Lelouch travels back in time to his childhood body. With only a week to go before Marianne is “assassinated by terrorists” Lelouch sets out to rearrange the board in a way none of the other players will see coming until it’s far too late. Lelouch has been given a second chance to make things right, and Lelouch wouldn’t be Lelouch if he didn’t plan big. This time around, Lelouch plans for his victory to be a bit more obvious. 4.1. Time Enough: Terry McGinnis, his little brother Matt, and their dogs are the only members of their timeline to survive because Bruce Wayne was too old to see any more of his sons die in front of him. So they all got knocked out, shoved into an escape capsule, and ejected from the Batman Beyond timeline before it crumbles. Said time pod crashes into the middle of a Red Hood versus Match throw down, and Terry’s Wayne-inherited charisma is so powerful it allows him to banter his way into good graces of both villains. 5.1. Saiyajin Pride: Alien biology has a larger impact on characterization that it does in canon. Mirai comes back to the main timeline live in sin with Videl and Gohan. Vegeta and Goku deal with some shit that comes from being the last full-blooded members of their species. Then just as things are settling down… Garlic is an idiot who thinks up a loophole in the “can’t wish people dead” rule and wishes Goku and Vegeta’s families straight out of existence and they end up in an entirely different reality. 6. FAIRY TAIL
6.1. Flight Of Dragons: Future!Lucy misses her target and ends up landing further back in time, during the same year Natsu and the rest of the Dragon Slayer kids were brought to when they were pulled forward in time. Fairy Tail luck kicks in, and future!Lucy runs into child!Laxus as he escapes from his father after being fed the Lightning Dragon Lacrima. Laxus is handed a Prophecy and runs with it. Halgenkia is not prepared for a Louise Francois le Blanc de la Valliere with ninja training. Henrietta is probably far too gleeful over making her best friend her Spymaster, but it’s not like anyone knows enough about what they’re doing to stop her. A Feather’s Weight: Crossover with Naruto – Kakashi and Obito, along with their respective subordinates, are reincarnated in Wutai, and are thus in position to undermine a lot of Hojo’s plans simply by being themselves. They all end up in the ROOT base made from one of Tobirama’s old labs and instead of Kyuubi getting loose Team Ro, the Fourth Hokage’s team of bodyguards, Obito, Anko, and all of ROOT plus Danzo himself get dumped into the Warring Clans Era. Obito kills Danzo in a panic when he realizes that taking the Bijuu means killing Rin, Kakashi sacrifices himself again, and there is a lot more running around. Kakashi suborns ROOT en masse, Obito is stupidly overpowered and homicidal but it’s okay because Kakashi is playing damsel in distress and distracting him. There was this viral tweet that went around about THE UNTAMED awhile back that was basically the cycle of every fan of the series that I have ever met: 1. Wtf, THIS is the show everyone is losing their minds over? This isn’t even good! 2. Well, I guess it’s not that bad, it’s pretty watchable and fun, it’s all right. 3. I would now die for these characters.
