Overprotective boy ♡ He's literally all over you. He doesn't want anyone to hurt you. He takes care of you. When you're sick or hurting. Baking cake with him ♡ I hc that he's plus-sized. So hugs with him are like hugging a big teddy bear lol. He gives the best kisses. You can't even begin to imagine how nice it is when his lips brush against yours, but still, the way he kisses is perfect. You melt every time. His kisses are soft and gentle, almost like he’s afraid they’ll break you. He gets flustered easily. It’s adorable. He's the type to be mean and rude to everyone else but you. (And ofc the other Ninjas.)

Confusing…But he's trying I swear. The best person to go to for cuddles when it's hot. He's like your personal cooler lol. He cooks for you. He calls you cute petnames like, 'love' and 'baby'. Loves kissing your cheeks all the time. He's just too good for this world I tell you. Loves going on picnic dates with you ♡ I have a feeling he's not too much of a PDA kind of guy. He'll do stuff in private. Surprises you with little gifts. His eyes are bright and full of affection as he looks at you.

Oh god… He's such a flirt with you it's insane. Always has his hands on you. Your waist, hips, hands. You name it. He's also overprotective. I hc that his face literally catches on fire when he's super flustered. So Imagine flirting with him and getting him super flustered only for his face to catch on fire LMAOO. He can't cook…or bake. So, you cook for him and he loves it ♡ He seems so happier when he's around you. You just make his day a lot better. He's a clingy mf...He's always clinging to your side or sumthin. You find it cute. His touch is soft and comforting. When he hugs you he smells like charcoal. But in a comforting way lol. He's like a cuddly furnace. It makes you feel safe when he's near… And you don't mind one bit ♡

She's very protective over you. She wants you to feel and be safe. She loves keeping you company, even if she is busy. Loves carrying you. And love your laughs the most. She can't stop thinking about it, how much she loves to hear them and see the smile on her face. How much she adores hearing them when they happen in front of her or around her, or when they're a part of her life. How much she loves making you happy, making you laugh. She gets jealous quite easily, too, which is why she does not like seeing anyone else touch you. Like Zane, she isn't big on PDA. It's kinda hard to get her flustered and when you do make her flustered she won't keep eye contact with you. Loves training with you. Giving you kisses after training ♡ You always tell her when she makes you happy. It makes her day. She's a really good listener. She will listen to anything you say. Please play with her hair, she loves it ♡

It'll take you guys a while to date but when you guys do it's cute. He loves cuddling you and watching movies together. You can't help but feel giddy whenever he's around you. He likes to hold your hand or kiss you on the cheek. He's always looking for ways to touch you which is adorable. Your eyes are his favorite thing about you. He's always lost in them ♡ He knows how to make tea. So whenever you are sick, he makes your favorite tea ♡ He's always so patient with you. Loves being close to you. It doesn’t matter if you’re just hanging out, sleeping, or training. If you are upset he’ll be there for you no matter what. He can’t cook but he’s willing to learn with you.

What it's like to date Cole Brookstone

The dragons rising trailer gave me Cole fever 😭😭 so yk I just gotta do a Cole post to appreciate this lego man's existence

Enjoy this yall heheh

Starting off strong: texting. The guy will spam you if you don't answer within 5 minutes

He's always worrying if something bad had happened to you 😭

He's also a ninja (obviously) so he's gonna be busy most of the time

That doesn't mean he doesn't make time for you though heheh

Before he'd leave for a mission he'd send you a sweet message, or leave small pouch of your favourite sweets for you

For your 3 month anniversary, he got you a pair of headphones

They're extra special bc they match with his <3

He sends you gym pics. Ok? He just does.

Mainly because he knows on the other side of that screen you're a blushing mess

Sometimes Cole will just walk around you shirtless to tease you, because he knows you're always gonna be staring

If you can bake, this man will BEG you to make cakes.

If you can't, you at least try. He'll always eat them, even if they are a little burnt

Its the thought that counts though, right?

His love language is touch, so you guys cuddle often

If cuddling isn't really your thing, that's okay! He'll settle for always holding your hand

When it comes to kissing however, hes so passionate that you usually have to lean on something, like a wall or a table 😭

When things get a little steamy he'll definitely be hoisting you up and wrapping his arms around you

Your dates usually consist of desert places, picnics, and CD/Vinyl records shopping

He love love loves music so whenever you tag along with him to these shops he loves it, and also really appreciates the company

Sometimes you both put in one ear each of Cole's earphones and just lie on his bed together listening to music

Its so therapeutic for both of you

He tried to teach you how to play the drums a few times, but you're horrible at it, sorry 💀

When you met Lou, he told you a bunch of funny stories about his dance lessons as a kid

Cole gets so annoyed whenever he does this but you think its cute <333

Lou would also go on to tell you how much Lily would've loved you

It felt a little uncomfortable talking about his mother, because you know how much of a sensitive subject it is for him

But Cole did agree, you reminded him a little of his mother

In truth, Lou sees himself and Lily in you and Cole

Although he denies it, Cole loves it when you trace his scars

Especially the ghost scar on his forehead

Also loves it when you trace his jaw

Whenever you randomly do, I promise this guy WILL just melt right there

Since his hair is really long, you're always trying out random hairstyles on him

He always protests, but he really does love it hehe

The man is such a tease, sometimes he'll swoop down to capture your lips in a kiss, only for him to kiss the corner of your mouth instead

Other times (when you're alone ofc,) Cole trails kisses down your neck and just randomly stops, and you always complain

He finds you so adorable when you're complaining 😭

He has a passion for singing, but will never sing in front of anyone apart from you

Most of the time, whenever he sings to you its a love song that both of you like 🥰

He's usually a pretty chill boyfriend, and doesn't normally get jealous

But on the very rare occasion that he does, he won't show it

Instead he'll get all pouty and whenever you ask what's wrong, his only response is to pull you into a hug

He'll most likely feel a little self-conscious and wonder if you're becoming uninterested in him

DONT give Cole a reason to feel sad. Do not. 😒

Anyways

He didn't tell the ninja he had a partner until Jay and Nya spotted you two in a vinyl records store holding hands

They interrogated the poor thing for like 3 hours when he got back

But once they all met you they really liked you!

Kai and Jay subjected you to more embarrassing Cole stories, which the earth ninja was NOT happy about

He prefers to spend time with you alone, away from other people

He vents to you a lot of the time and tells you about his struggles and his feelings

Hes actually really open with you, but he never pressures you to tell him anything

He wants to be able to earn your trust <3

Not any incorrect quotes today, but I give you some short facts, about the ship dynamic here.

Which means Jaya & Lavashipping Petrichorshipping!

[Petrichorshipping is the new name of the Cole x Kai ship here since Lavashipping doesn't make sense anymore] (Yes, this post was edited)

So let's START!

[Jaya]

Is very similar to the canon, but of course has it's difference.

Begining:

Jay is very much interested in Nya from the beginning, especially after seeing her fight and noticing how strong she is.

At first Nya thinks that Jay's flirting attempt are cute and pretty, so she let it go.

Later they start working together as ninjas and it makes they relationship improve faster. They are good teammates, who can work together good and chick someone’s ass.

Later:

Jay finnaly decides to ask Nya on a date and she agrees, beacuse she wants to find out if something would come from this.

The date turns into a battlefield against their enemies. But surprisingly, it didn't ruin it for her. Fighting side by side actually made the date more interesting and broke the ice.

As their first date turned out to be successfully, they start going out more often.

On the Destiny's Bounty they discover that both are interested in engineering and tinkering with gadgets.

When they work together on something Nya is often a welder with her fire powers and Jay is an electric.

Later they start dating, find more about each other and star building a healthy relationship.

The love traingle:

It never existed actually.

Yes, Nya made a love-test on the maschine, because the kids in the class wanted her to do it, but she didn't take it that seriously.

Nya is independent ninja, who truly forged a strong bond with Jay, not only romantically but also as a close friendship as a teammate, strengthened by shared interests and common challenges. She know what she wants.

Nya mocks the test result saying that Cole is only interested in cake.

Cole is never interested in Nya or she in him.

Jay would find out about the test results from Pixal and would only feel a little bad, thinking that there is someone better for Nya.

Nya would knock those silly thoughts out of his head, and everything would go back to normal.

[Petrichorshipping]

Here things are more complicated.

Begining:

At the begining there isn't that much to say, because they are stranger to each other.

Kai is mostly focused on his sister and doesn't form any bonds with Nya's teammates. (I mean out of the blue your sister becomes a ninja and starts throwing fire from her hands, who wouldn't?)

In the meantime Cole is cusually spending his time with Jay & Zane as always.

They pretty much don't interract.

After Kai's feel more secure about Nya's safety there, then he starts more talk with others and even play video games with them.

Later:

Everything changes much after some incidents, which inclused water, when Kai had almost a panic attack.

Everyone besides Nya were suprised by his behaviour and after that incident and some explanation everyone knew how to react in similar kind of situation.

One time Cole would help Kai during his panic attack, when Destiny's Bounty would crush into water and in that way Cole'd gain some Kai's trust.

After that their relationship would improve a little and they would start interract more.

Later Kai would even ask Cole about training with him, because well Kai wants to be usefull and support his sister. [We wants to be as good as ninjas, be a part of team]

They would start training together and enjoy each others company. Talking, joke, later play video games, or even cook- [because Kai can cook and Cole like to eat]

They would slowly fall for each other.

Suprisingly Cole would be the first one to realise that-

Jay would notice Cole having a crush and surely taste him about that later.

Crushing time:

At the beginning of the reboot season. After the the kids were about to go on a trip, Cole in the last second akwardly ask Kai on a date.

Kai is taken aback, because he didn't expect that, but also akwardly agrees with a smile.

They never go on that date, because Zane 'dies'.

They don't talk for a long time until next season, because of the mess.

Kai isn't interested in Skylor or even interracts with her at all. [Instead Nya became a pretty good friends with her at the end of the season]

In the next season eveything becomes a big mess. Kai finds out about being master of water. And he needs overcome his fear of water.

In the meantime Cole becomes a ghost :(

Cole & Kai show each other a lot of support during this time and there's this big weird tension, because there is definitely something going on between them and both of them knew it. There was too much going on to just resolve it.

This situation make them also very flustrated and sad, because well they can't even hug each other show support.

In the season Skybound season Kai would face some misandrist from interview/medias, because he became a new ninja member. All of his friends would show him support and ect. At that time Cole & Kai would go out somewhere, but just as friends.

After Cole becomes human again, everyone becomes better.

After a lot of thinking Kai decides not to waste time and juat ask Cole on a date, to which he agrees without a second thought.

After that they pretty much get together.

And that's pretty much about it. I hope it was interesting or something..

Nothing will be more weirder than the Ninjago fandom acting like Cole was in love with Nya throughout Rebooted.

Through the entire Love Triangle ordeal, he never actually acts for Nya, instead only reacting to Jay. Observe:

Blackout

In the previous episode, The Art of the Silent Fist, there was a scene between Cole and Nya. Throughout that episode, Nya was struggling with her newfound feelings towards Cole (given to her by a machine I might add but that's a conversation for another day). Nya talks to Cole in that scene and it ends with them holding hands and Cole jokingly saying "Don't tell Jay."

Why am I bringing this up? Because I honestly have trouble looking at that through a romantic lense. I often see people use this as evidence even though it doesn't match up with how the show would later indicate romance (they looked at each other so they're in love now! Chemistry, what's that!) More importantly, Nya never actually articulates her feelings for Cole in this scene. This is crucial when getting to Blackout. In Blackout, after Pixal blurts out that Cole is a perfect match for Nya, not Jay, who entered the room at the time, his first instinct is to attack Cole as soon as he saw him! From the POV of Cole, this looks like his friend calling him names and a whole lot of other things seemingly out of nowhere, he never actually heard about the "Perfect Match" results and that combined with the previously mentioned scene leaves us with a Cole who isn't in love with Nya and is only focused on Jay.

The Curse of The Golden Master

In this clip, after the ninja head into the sewer like a certain other group of color coded ninja, Jay gets into another spat with Cole after Cole dared to *checks note* look out for Nya's safety. This causes the two to get into an argument and ignore Nya falling from the broken ladder.

Now this scene on it's own doesn't mean much, but when paired with the other episodes mentioned, it starts to paint a bigger picture. This scene is a tipping point for Cole, going from someone clueless about his situation and fighting with Jay to letting this petty, near one-sided rivalry get in the way of the task at hand.

This scene is honestly the perfect representation of the Love Triangle in Rebooted: it was never really about Nya, she was just a stepping stone to get to Jay yelling at Cole over a situation he has no idea he's even in. Cole isn't out of the woodwork either as he begins to ignore Nya solely so he can insult Jay, but hey, it can't get any worse right?

Codename: Arcturus

It got worse.

In Codename: Arcturus, we see Jay, Cole, and Nya at the movie theater to "prove who Nya should go out with." Now, you may ask "doesn't that sequence end with both Jay and Cole asking who Nya will date and her kidnapping a cleaning robot?" yes, it does! But the important thing here is that it wasn't even Nya's idea in the first place ("Hey, it wasn't my idea to go on a double date to decide between you two.") Interesting thing of note, this is the only episode in the entire season where it's actually shown Cole fighting for Nya's affection, but even then it's not really about her, it's about getting back at Jay more than anything.

I know someone will come in wondering about "authorial intent," the intent in question being that Cole could be a potential love interest for Nya moving forward, but while I can see the intent, I can also acknowledge that what actually landed on the page and later the screen does not match the intent at all. Instead of Cole falling in love with Nya and getting into a spat with Jay that way, we got Cole treating Nya like a stepping stone to get back at Jay, disregarding her feelings in the process.

TL;DR: Kai should've knocked Jay and Cole upside the head for being weird about his sister

When They Get Jealous

Summary: Someone's getting a little to flirty with their girl Characters: Lloyd Garmadon, Cole Brookstone, Nya Smith, Kai Smith, Jay Walker

Lloyd Garmadon

He always had this fear in the back of his mind that you would leave him for someone better, so when he saw someone trying to hit on you he couldn't help the fear growing in his chest and this other icky feeling

You deserve the best and he would give it to you, even if it means letting you go

Thought when it seems you're getting annoyed, he decides that he should step in

"Hey, why are you bothering my girlfriend?"

"Oh girlfriend? I didn't know you were dating that Garmadon kid"

"I'm not a kid," he stood infront of you protectively now because he didn't want them getting violent with you because it seemed they were getting aggravated

"I would have told you if you would have let me talk-"

"Yeah if I wanted to listen to you talk, I would of"

He glared at them, about to say something, but you end up grabbing Lloyd

^"It's not worth it Lloyd. Let's just go"

Cole Brookstone

He's one cocky man, so I doubt he'd allow someone to flirt with his girlfriend

In fact he won't even notice that someone's floating with his girlfriend, because how could anyone be stupid enough to flirt with his girlfriend

But when he did look for you because he wanted to Jay to tell you some stupid joke, he was surprised to see some guy leaning on the wall trying to get close to you

At first he shook it off because there's no way he saw what he thinks he's seeing

He'll walk over to you, wrap an arm around your shoulder, "Who's your friend babe?"

"Babe?"

"Oh yeah, this is my boyfriend I was telling you about. Though you weren't listening"

"Yeah whatever, I have to go anyway-"

Cole tightened his grip around you, while you squeezed out

"Okay Cole, he's gone, you can let go-"

"I'm never letting go baby"

Nya Smith

That good old Smith aggression runs through her blood

Her jealousy knows no bounds and she'll be very passive-aggressive to whoever's flirting with you

"Oh really? I couldn't tell with all that gunk on your face, but I'm so glad you're confident in yourself. I wish I had your confidence"

"Nya, that wasn't very nice!"

"Neither is flirting with a taken person"

The flirter will row there eyes and walk away, but not before responding, "Yeah, well I can do better anyway"

"You wish!"

Kai Smith

That good old Smith aggression runs through his blood

He will start throwing hands I can feel it

You'll have to hold him back, because if not, he's going Ninja on them

You'll apologize while walking off with him

"Who did they think they were? Talking to you as if they're dating you? Why didn't you stop them?"

Great, now he's turned on you

"I would of if you gave me a chance"

He doesn't want to hear it and ends up ignoring you, much to YOUR annoyance

You'll have to apologize to him, even though you did nothing wrong, but he doesn't care

Jay Walker

He has abandonment issues, so with some guy hitting on you he felt sad

He did have an even icker feeling of possession over you because you're HIS girlfriend and you should be loyal to your significant other

Instead of coming off aggressive, he'll enter the conversation with a joke

No one even knows he's jealous, they just think he's having a good time

Until he starts laughing a little too much and his smile doesn't seem all that friendly

You can get the hint even from a mile away

Though the person who was previously flirting with you can't say anything bad, because they'll look like the bad guy

His hold will tighten around you and you could feel him practically squeeze your waist

Three weeks after Jay and Nya start dating again, Cole notices something...strange.

Well, another strange thing, he supposes. Jay and Nya have been acting off for weeks- calling out of training early, sneaking up to the roof at unholy hours to whisper, sharing looks no one else understands that seem to mean more than words ever could.

Everyone has noticed their behavior, but has had little success in understanding it. Zane had done his scans and both seemed to be in perfect health, no different from before, but no matter how much Kai asked Nya or Cole asked Jay, the two vehemently claimed that nothing was wrong.

The first time Cole notices something off, it’s a training-free day. Jay comes out of his room in a long sleeve shirt (which in itself was out of the ordinary- Jay grew up in the desert; Cole’s pretty sure he hadn’t owned a long sleeve shirt before Wu had recruited him) and jeans instead of his gi, and Cole has to do a double take as his heart stutters and he takes in a sharp gasp of breath.

The faint green imprint of a large hand wraps around Jay's throat, bright enough that Cole can easily tell what it was, yet dim enough he can't tell if it’s actually there or not. Cole freezes, his spoon halfway to his mouth as he stares. Kai raises an eyebrow at his look, and makes some remark that Cole doesn’t hear.

Then Jay looks over, panic running across his face, and he promptly leaves the kitchen two seconds later, claiming he had promised to help Nya with something.

During sparring the next day, Jay swears that he’s fine and had just suddenly remembered his commitment as he feigns left and jabs right, not meeting Cole's eyes. Nya confirms the story later, swiping a nonexistent lock of hair behind her left ear.

Cole knows they’re lying.

He’s pretty sure they know he knows.

Four days later, the team has finally trained enough to earn themselves a day trip, so they all pack up and head out to the west coast.

Jay wears long sleeves again, swearing he just doesn’t want to get sunburned. He runs his hands up and down his arms, shivering despite the warm sun.

Nya wraps her arms around his waist, muttering something in his ear. His shoulders ease, tension dissolving as a small smile grows on his face.

“Hey Lloyd,” he says, starting to grin. “Race you to the water!” He sprints away.

“Hey!” Lloyd calls, scrambling up and dashing to the tide. “No fair! You had a head start!”

Nya grins too. “Wait for me!”

She tears off the hoodie she wears over her swimsuit, throwing it at her brother as she runs to the water to join the others.

Cole stumbles back, trying to blink the image of ugly green acid marring her collarbone away from his swimming vision.

“Are you alright, Cole?” Zane asks, peering up at him, concerned.

Cole doesn’t have the heart to reply.

Cole knows Jay. He knows Nya. He knows them almost as well as he knows himself. He knows their favorite foods, the name of their childhood best friend, their love languages and their favorite candies.

He knows how they lie.

Sure, he wasn’t always totally sure when they were lying, but there was always a subtle sign from either of them that they were. He was almost always right.

But Cole has never been more sure they were lying than in this moment.

If Cole had a dime for every time he's barged into Jay's room, he'd have enough money to last a whole month's worth of city repairs. In all that time, in all the years, Cole had never once seen anything he shouldn't have.

Until today.

It's not like he's never seen Jay shirtless before.

It is, however, the first time he's seen it since Jay started acting strange, and now Cole things he knows why.

Ghostly green marks litter his best friend's back, his shoulders, his arms. Slash marks that look like they were from a katana slide from the top of his left shoulder blade to his right hip, though other lines and marks glow softly across his skin. A vivid green line rips across his side, torn like a knife was taken to his ribs and missed. Faint patches of skin glow a dim green, reminiscent of the marks on his neck, sickly bruises haunting his arms and back. Curved gashes press into his left shoulder, almost in the shape of a hook, and the same mark wraps around his head. Vibrant ghost green loops around his wrists, almost as bright as the neon coil around his right ankle.

The teacup Cole holds shatters as it slips from his grip.

Jay whips around with all the speed of the lightning ninja, freezing when he sees Cole.

For a moment, they stand there, horrified ghostly eyes meeting startled bright blue.

Cole can pinpoint the moment panic seizes Jay.

He pulls the rest of his shirt on remarkably quick, forcing a miserably fake laugh. His gaze darts to the shattered teacup, then back up to Cole.

"First Master, Cole, you scared the living daylights outta me." He forces another laugh, carefully walking over the teacup and hurrying past Cole and out of his room. “I-I was just on my way out, Nya asked me to help her figure out this glitch in the Roto Jet, so we should-”

He pauses when he sees that Cole hasn’t moved an inch.

In fact, Cole’s feet may as well be glued to the floor, for all he would even be able to move. No, he can’t- not with that image seared in his head, the cuts and the bruises and the wounds and the scars and the-

“Cole?”

Jay lays a hand on his shoulder, forcing Cole out of his frozen state.

Cole flinches, spinning around to face his best friend.

Jay’s eyes shine with concern, gazing up at him. He retracts his hand, hovering next to him.

“Cole, are you okay?”

It takes Cole three tries to form coherent words.

“I...I’m...” He stares at Jay, ghostly handprint still rippling across his neck.

Jay blinks patiently.

“Jay, what happened to you?”

Jay inhales sharply, rubbing his hands around his wrists nervously.

“I-”

“Don’t.”

Jay swallows. “Don’t what?”

“Don’t say that you’re fine.”

“But-”

“Jay.”

“I’m-”

“Jay.”

Jay shuts his mouth firmly, eyeing the floor.

“Don’t think you can lie to me. I know you too well.”

Jay’s gaze shoots up at him, eyes wide. He inhales again, biting his lip. Then e glances around, and shuffles back into his room, and closing the door behind him.

Cole’s heart starts to beat faster, the gravity of the situation weighing in his gut. “Jay?”

Jay slides down against the wall, pulling his knees up to his chest. “It’s-” His voice shakes. He bites his quivering lip, furrowing his brows. “It-” he tries again, shuddering to a stop all the same.

Cole slides down next to him.

“Jay,” he says gently, “you don’t have to tell me.”

Taking a measured breath, Jay speaks again. “It’s not that I don’t want to tell you,” he voices slowly. “I just- I-”

Tears shine in the young ninja’s eyes, and Cole’s heart breaks in two.

“You just?”

Jay rubs his wrists. Rubs the green rings on his wrists. “I...I don’t know if you’ll believe me. It sounds so ridiculous, and I-”

“Jay,” Cole interrupts softly. “You know you can tell me anything, right? You’re my best friend, I’ll always believe you. If you want to tell me, you can tell me.”

Jay sniffles. “You mean it?”

“Every word.”

“It might...it might take a while. It’s kind of...” He blows out a long breath. “It’s kind of hard to talk about.”

Cole keeps his gaze locked on Jay, who glances up from the floor with shining eyes.

“It’s okay,” he says gently. “I’m here to stay.”

Jay bites his lip again, and then he tells.

Cole listens.

So I’m currently sick and feel like crap so I’m gonna spit out some random TLNM headcanons.

- Kai is captain of the lacrosse team and he’s suuuper popular in school. He used to be more popular before becoming friends with Lloyd, but still popular when he’s not around lloyd

- Nya isn’t quite as popular as her brother but she’s still popular. Also known as the “cool edgy kid” - a lot of people think her and Cole are dating.

- Cole is super quiet, always has his headphones on, and most people think he’s a delinquent. (He is, as he sm0kes underage, but people don’t know that)

- Reason he always has his headphones on is bc he gets overwhelmed by the noise of all the people. Music helps calm him down. (Also, it keeps people from trying to talk to him)

- Jay is a band kid. You can’t change my mind on this. He plays trumpet and is actually pretty good, so he plays in the jazz band and stuff. (I’m an orchestra kid and have no idea what I’m talking about)

- Jay’s orange scarf was a gift from his birth parents. It’s one of the only thing he has to remember them by, and he’s super attached to it.

- Zane is freakishly tall. You can always see him in the hallway and he stands out (I mean hello, he has white hair)

- Pixal is part of the friend group and lives with Dr. Borg, her maker. People don’t know that she’s a robot as she has a pretty good human disguise and understands people better than Zane does

- Pixal goes by “Pix” in school

- Zane and Pixal are valedictorians of their grade and often jokingly beef over it

- Zane also spends almost all of his time at school. Anyone texts the gc saying “anyone still at school?” And Zane will always be there, usually in the library.

- speaking of Zane, he lives with his maker, Dr. Julien, and was homeschooled most of his life up until highschool, when Dr. Julien decided he needed real social interaction and enrolled him

- Nya and Kai live with their parents Ray and Maya, but they’re not home often, usually working or jobhunting. Their dad has trouble keeping a job.

- due to this, Kai and Nya usually spend most of their time afterschool at school, too, both being on sports teams. (Nya plays volleyball)

- Jay lives on the very outskirts of ninjago city and is driven to school by his parents every day

- Lloyd spends most of his time either at home or with his friends, seeing that he has no where else to go where people won’t hate him

- Tried joining almost every club to find acceptance, but the second he joined everyone else quit, so he eventually gave up

- There’s probably a thing at school called “The Garmadon Touch” that’s similar to the Cheese Touch from Diary of a Whimpy Kid. All of Lloyd’s friends have the Garmadon Touch and are very proud of it

- Cole, Nya, and Kai protect Lloyd (and the others) from bullies

i said "i love you" (you say nothing back)

After defeating the Hoarder, Nya finds out exactly what Cole means when he says that it feels like the earth is screaming. Meanwhile, Cole knows that his and Geo’s time is running out.

“We’re gonna need to head out first thing in the morning,” Nya explained as she followed Cole around, the two of them on their own journey to find two sufficient air mattresses for her and Sora to sleep on for the night, but she had a much more pressing matter on her mind, “so, you and Geo?”

“What about Geo?” Cole asked, kneeling down next to a pile of junk and starting to dig through it.

“I just think it’s nice that you found him and the others, that you had others after the Merge,” Nya shrugged as she got down beside her best friend and started to dig through the pile of trash beside him while a much simpler time came to the forefront of her mind, “remember that true match machine?”

“Oh my god,” Cole laughed despite the thin lines of pain around his lips that Nya could only see in a certain light, “I nearly forgot about that stupid thing.”

“What, the machine that resulted in you and I going on one date? Where afterwards you said “I’m not talking to Jay, but you can’t pick me”? How did you forget that?” Nya couldn’t contain her laughter as they stood with zero luck and continued to walk, no longer in fear of the Hoarder now that it was trapped in a jar.

“I still can’t believe that was the last piece of the puzzle.”

“Yep, one date with me. That’s all it took for you to realize that you were gay,” she grinned, but it was quickly replaced by a frown of worry about where her yin was bubbling its way back to the surface of her mind, “I hope that the others find him.”

“Hey,” Cole’s voice was comforting as his hand rested on her shoulder, forcing her attention to him, “we will find him. One of us will find Jay, I promise. I mean, you and Sora found me in a place that, according to most people, doesn’t even exist. That’s gotta mean something.”

“I wish you would come with us.” Nya sighed, pulling an air mattress pump off of the top of a pile of junk, relieved to find that it was only slightly dented and battery powered.

“You know I can’t. Not until I can find a way to bring them with me,” Cole sighed, examining the device, “it would kill me to leave them-” the cry of anguish as he dropped to his knees forced a horrific scream from Nya’s lungs.

“Cole!” She rushed over and knelt down before pulling her best friend into her arms, “Cole, what’s-”

“Get Geo.” Was all he said before his eyes fluttered shut and his body went limp in her arms, making Nya’s stomach churn with worry; she tried to lift him so she could get him back to the Rookery, to find his boyfriend like he said to do, but despite her own share of muscle from the years of being a Samurai and then a ninja, he was still too heavy for her.

So she did the only thing that she could think to do and started to yell out, “Sora! Geo! Riyu! I need help!”

Nya’s heart pounded painfully in her chest as she looked around at the others surrounding her; Bonzal was crocheting, her boney hands working slowly but expertly with the light blue yarn that was reminiscent of her own gi. Fritz and Spitz were sitting on the ground, gluing together popsicle sticks into what she assumed was a log cabin, similar to how she had done it when she was their age. Sora and Riyu had gone out to resume finding mattresses for the two of them to settle for the night, insisting that since they had found a pump, a mattress had to be close by.

Nya couldn’t help but wonder if Bonzal’s crocheting was nerves or not with how slow she was working; she couldn’t help but remember her boyfriend’s anxious movements, his hands working nervously on all sorts of projects and inventions if only just to calm his overworking mind.

If he had been with her in this current moment, Jay would focus on trying to comfort her own nerves, using his own words to ground himself, but she didn’t dare wish for him to be there even in the comfort of her own mind, not even a good experience with a Dijin could change that.

With how at ease the boys were, even if they weren’t outwardly showing their nerves, Nya couldn’t help but wonder if what had happened to Cole was somewhat normal for the children he was now practically calling his own, for the skeleton who outwardly didn’t care for much but her craft projects as well as her weird collections and for Cole’s boyfriend, who was in the room just down the hall, tending to him.

It wasn’t that it was unexpected for Cole to have a boyfriend; ever since he came out to her, Nya was aware of the persistent crush he had once had on her brother as well as the brief romance that he had shared with Plundar. If she was being completely honest, she had been expecting it for a long time just like she knew the others had been expecting her to get back together with Jay.

But she couldn’t stop herself from wondering about Geo, the outcast of Shintaro that had found his way into Cole’s heart. They hadn’t spoken much to each other aside from the explanation of his own elemental powers, not that it wasn’t either of their faults given the attack from both The Hoarder as well as Dr. LaRow.

Admittedly, Nya couldn’t help but wonder if it was just her wanting to get to know the Munce, or if some part of her was still guarded from the mess that had been what had gone down with Harumi and Lloyd and as a result, wanted to protect the others from going through anything like that again.

She was so lost in her own mind that she hadn’t even registered Geo, slowly opening the creaking, wooden door until he approached the line of her vision, “how is he?”

“He’ll be okay,” Geo’s voice was steady, like anything about Cole passing out for seemingly no reason after expressing earlier in the day that it felt like the earth had been screaming ever since the Merge was okay.

“How are you so calm about this?” Nya questioned with a raised eyebrow, “this isn’t normal and not just in Ninjago. It’s not normal at all.”

Geo didn’t answer at first and Nya assumed that it was due to the fact that he was refusing to acknowledge her question, but she was surprised when Geo led her over to a small table pushed into the back of the room and handed her a hot mug of steaming chamomile, a scent she instantly recognized from her days working at Steep Wisdom.

“I don’t like scaring Fritz and Spitz,” Geo admitted as he passed her a small dish of sugar before taking a sip of his unsweetened tea, looking right at the young boys as he spoke, “they’re just kids. Kids who look at Cole the same way that they look at me.”

“So they’re your sons?” Nya pressed while sweetening her tea.

“In all but blood,” Geo affirmed, “the four of us, we were all rejected by our biological families, so we made our own and when Cole fell from the sky, we only assumed that he was like the rest of us.”

Nya nodded; she was instantly brought back to those cold autumn mornings in Ignacia where her feet would be so cold that she would instantly go to Kai’s bed and snuggle up to her furnace of a brother; even when he complained about her cold feet on his warm legs, she knew that he was grateful that at least he could provide warmth.

It had just been the two of them surviving together, hoping that the other villagers would take pity on them to the point of at least offering them a warm meal if they didn’t buy some of the extensive stock of weapons that only dwindled as they grew up.

In a weird way, she had been thankful for being taken by the skeleton army; after all, it wasn’t like they hurt her and afterwards, they had the guarantee of comfy beds and warm meals while Kai continued his training to become the master of fire.

“So, what happened out there?” Nya questioned, now that the chamomile was starting to calm down her anxiety and replaced it with the need for answers, “and why are you all so calm about this?”

“I know you said that this isn’t normal, and you are completely in the right, but it has become our normal,” Geo explained, stopping to take a sip of his tea, “a few weeks after Cole arrived, he fought the Hoarder for the first time. But when he used what he calls his “earth punch”, he confided in me later on that the earth struggled to obey his mastery and it felt like the ground was in agony.”

“So the pain is from his earth punch.”

“Not exactly,” Nya couldn’t stop her eyebrow from raising in confusion, but after being in so many confusing conversations throughout the years, she knew when it was better to remain silent, “after that day, he started to develop these migraines, he told me that he always hears the cries, but that he can drown them out. But some days, like today, it’s too strong for him.”

Nya swallowed in sympathy; after she had been brought back from the sea, she had been forced to go through the withdrawal of the lack of elemental power she had seen both Kai and Lloyd go through in the past. It had been painful to say the least between getting used to her own body again as well as the usual flu-like symptoms that came with having the elemental energy ripped from one's body.

But consistent migraines like that, long after the event that originally caused the internal turmoil, that was new to her; not impossible, but new. Just like everything else that she had learned within the past few weeks since she reunited with Lloyd.

“Is there anything that helps him get through the bad days?” Nya asked, pushing a loose strand of hair away from her face where it had fallen out of her ponytail, only to be disappointed when Geo shook his head.

“Not much. We haven’t been able to find any sort of medicine or herbal remedy to decrease the pain, but physical contact helps him ground himself, so it’s something.”

That was something that didn’t surprise Nya at all. Cole was always the first one to give and accept hugs to whoever might need one ever since she first met him; she had a particularly strong memory of the two of them holding onto each other tightly after a conversation about ghosts and newfound powers.

But as Geo spoke, every word rattled inside of her mind and filled it with the fact that Geo was not deceptive and had zero malicious intent for her friend. Rather, he may very well be the best match she had ever seen for Cole.

“Then you should go be with him,” Nya insisted, putting her now empty tea cup down on the table, “I’ll clean this up and make dinner.”

“Are you sure?” Geo questioned as she stood, taking his empty cup with her own towards the sink, “you and Sora have a long journey ahead of you tomorrow.”

“Geo, you are the first person I’ve met that has truly loved Cole,” Nya put her hand on the Munce’s to ensure that yes, she had his attention, “and right now, you are the one he needs. You’ve helped him through this before, I would have no idea what to do.”

Geo nodded as he stood, and Nya could have sworn that she saw a shiny tear trickle down his cheek but he made no move to acknowledge it as he walked back toward his and Cole’s shared bedroom, only stopping to turn back toward Bonzal and say, “help Nya with dinner if she needs it.”, before disappearing behind the wooden door.

Cole knew that if he stayed perfectly still and kept his eyes closed, the migraine would pass. It would take time and he would be bedridden for the rest of the night, but he knew that the throbbing in his mind and the subtle churn of his nauseated stomach would pass.

In the years that had passed in the Land of Lost Things, he got used to the throbbing of the scar that had come from the rift in the sky sealing around the left side of his skull.

He knew that any of the other ninjas would have been just as freaked out as he had been when it had started, he also knew that it had been foolish to believe that it had just been from the lack of adrenaline from fighting the Hoarder that first time.

But, he had Geo to get him through it by letting him rest his pounding head on his chest and the comforting squeeze of his arm around his shoulders. It didn’t stop the pain, the nausea or even the fainting, but it was enough for Cole to ground himself and know that he would get through it just like he had before.

“Hey,” the tender whisper broke through his thoughts, resting his gentle hand on Cole’s bare shoulder which gave him the strength to open his eyes in the pitch black room, “how’re you feeling?”

“Honestly?” Cole couldn’t stop his voice from trembling as he spoke because even moving the muscles in his jaw sent a flash of pain through his head, “like shit, the migraines…” he hesitated, but given the little of Geo’s face he could see through the makeshift blackout curtains that covered their windows, Cole knew that his boyfriend knew exactly what he was gonna say, “I think they’re getting worse. The screaming is getting louder.”

Geo’s mouth was pushed into a tight line, the face he made whenever he was deep in thought; Cole had seen it before, when the two of them discussed the Hoarder with Bonzal to try and figure out what exactly it was and how to stop it for good, as well as when the migraines first made their appearance and Geo had tried everything to remove the pain before it was decided that they should just try and manage the pain instead.

“You should go with Nya, Riyu and Sora tomorrow,” Geo finally spoke, and despite the pain, Cole immediately sat up in protest, “Cole, lay back do-”

“I am not leaving the boys, I am not leaving Bonzal and I am not leaving you,” Cole shook his head and fought back the wave of nausea that it caused as he grasped onto his boyfriend’s hands, “you four can’t leave, I can’t leave you.”

“Ninjago has more sufficient medical technology-”

“But Ninjago doesn’t have you,” Cole cut him off, his vision trying to dim around him due to the overexertion, “I need you, Geo.”

“I don’t want you to leave, Cole,” Geo’s voice trembled as he set a gentle hand on his chest, forcing his throbbing head onto the pillows, “but I also don’t want to lose you.”

Cole sighed as he chewed on the edge of his lip; he understood everything Geo was saying and he knew that his boyfriend wasn’t pushing him away because he no longer wanted him around but more so that he couldn’t find another solution to the problem and he knew that, in the depths of his mind where only the truest honesty inside of him was, he knew that the only solution had to be stopping the Merge Quakes.

“I love you, Geo,” Cole sighed as he moved to allow the Munce to get in bed beside him so he could rest his head against his chest, knowing that if this was the last night that he would be with Geo, then he was going to make sure that it ended on a good note, “and I swear that as soon as all of this is over, I’ll come back and bring you four with me.”

“I know you will,” Geo spoke softly before pressing his tender lips to the top of Cole’s head, wrapping his arm around his shoulders, “and Cole?”

Cole turned his head to look into Geo’s shiny eyes, feeling his own tears start to build up from both the migraine and knowing that this could very well be the last time that he shared the night with his boyfriend.

Despite all of that, Cole couldn’t help but smile when their lips met, the familiar sensation of nothing but pure love bringing his attention away from the pain for just a few moments before Geo pulled away and said what he got his attention for in the first place.

“I love you too, and if you can’t get back to us…” Geo stopped to push away Cole’s sweaty, raven-black hair away from his throbbing scar, never putting his fingers directly on it.

“Don’t finish that,” Cole pleaded, gently taking Geo’s purple fingers in his own hand, “I will come back to Bonzal, to the boys and to you. We’ll go back to Ninjago, and you guys can meet my dad,” he started to ramble, which he knew was from both the exhaustion and the migraine taking away his focus, but he had this conversation with Geo before deep in the night after they had their first kiss.

“And if we decide that Ninjago isn’t for us, we’ll go live with your friend, Queen Vania, in Shintaro,” Geo continued, pressing more soft kisses against Cole’s head while speaking, “and we’ll keep raising our boys where they’ll be as safe as they can be and where Bonzal will have so much thread and yarn that she’ll never run out of things to crochet or sew.”

“And when they’re a bit older,” Cole stopped to yawn, his eyes fluttering shut as he continued to mumble, “maybe we’ll have another one. I’ve always wanted three, you know.”

But as he let his eyes stay shut and his mind started to wander into dreamland, he heard Geo speak for just a few more moments.

“A girl, who we’ll name her after your mom,” one more kiss pressed to his forehead followed by a “good night, Cole” and after that, Cole couldn’t hear his boyfriend speak anymore.

He thought he heard the voice of Master Wu calling out to him, pleading with him to follow him, but it quickly faded to an empty void.

…

Spitz had burst into tears as soon as he heard that Cole would be leaving, his sobs turning into sniffles after Cole hugged him with a little bit of super strength and insisted that he would be back as soon as he could be.

Fritz was just as sniffly as Spitz when he hugged Cole tightly, but was much easier to cheer up with the promise of meeting the others, especially Kai, and the promise that he would be brought back the newest in ninja action figures.

Bonzal didn’t say much before leading the boys away, she didn’t even hug Cole, but when she stuttered over “bring me any bones you find, rock boy,” he knew that she was pushing back any of her emotions so he and Geo could have a proper goodbye without Fritz asking more questions about the dragon cores or Spitz becoming inconsolable about Cole leaving again.

But when the door closed, leaving the Master of Earth and the Munce alone, neither of them could break the silence as Cole pulled the backpack of his few things over his shoulder. He was still exhausted from the migraine that had overtaken him the day before, but the pain was gone and the screaming was quieter now.

Unfortunately, that also meant that his departure from the land he had called home, and the people he had called home for the last few years, was very real and not just an argument between him and his boyfriend.

“You be safe,” Geo’s voice broke through the seemingly impenetrable silence that had filled the living room as he rested his palm in Cole’s, the small burst of powers forming a brief heart shape around their hands, “you come back to us.”

“Geo,” Cole swallowed harshly, his mouth dry as he did, “tell me to stay and I swear, I will unpack this bag faster than the elemental master of speed,” Cole knew that he wouldn’t since he was the one who told him to leave the night before, but he was pleading just the same as his voice trembled into a honest stutter, “I-I love you.”

He should have known that Geo wouldn’t say another word, but the last thing he expected was for Geo to let his hand fall before walking with him toward the entrance. Cole wanted to take his hand again, to drop his pack and insist that he was staying, but that’s when Geo spoke one more time, pressing his hand to Cole’s cheek as he did, his eyes full of earnestness.

“You have to leave.”

And with that, Geo removed his hand from his cheek and turned around toward their bedroom, leaving Cole to stand in the entryway by himself.

His shaky breath filled the room as the water in his eyes started to fall, but he lifted his arm up, wiped away the tears, pulled the backpack tighter onto his shoulder and forced himself to walk out of the Rookery for the last time.

Despite that, he couldn’t stop himself from turning around for a brief second to try and get a glimpse of Geo from the window, only to remember that the blackout curtains were still up; so he continued walking toward Nya, Sora and Riyu to tell them that he would be going to follow Master Wu’s voice instead of coming with them.

But he knew that he wouldn’t tell Nya the reason that he was wiping heartbroken tears from his cheeks and if she pressed, he knew that he would have to lie to her only so she didn’t release any of her powers on the Finders.

‘I will return,’ Cole told himself as his eyes caught onto the small group in front of him, ‘and we’ll all make it back to Ninjago.’

Skybound Scene Rewrite, but there are actual character arcs and themes that follow through and stuff

Aka, the lighthouse scene: Bad Ending

The heavy evening air came in warm and salty from the windows. They both knew a battle was imminent, but there was nothing left to do but wait.

“I want you to have this.” Jay gingerly handed the full teapot to his companion. “If anything happens to me, use the Traveler's Tea to get yourself out of here. He's convinced he's going to marry you. If that happens, nothing can stop him.”

Nya’s face soured, as she slumped back, hands gripping the strap which now held the tea to her body

Jay’s face puzzled to match her’s, trying to read her emotions. “Uh...um...you're upset. What did I say?”

Nya sighed. “It's nothing you said. It's just...both of you seem so convinced you see a future with me.”

Jay reached forward to place her hand on her shoulder. “Well, the good news is, we already know which one of us is right.”

Nya jerked herself away, groaning. “You really don’t see that as a problem?”

“What?!” Jay stood back defensively. “It’s not like I’m wrong!”

“Don’t you see how imposing you’re being?!” Nya pleaded with him.

“I’m not being imposing, I’m just stating the facts!” Jay stressed. “I don’t get what I’m doing wrong! Where is all this resistance still coming from?!”

Nya’s eyes narrowed, fiery adrenaline now rushing through her body. “Oh, you’re unsure why the girl you claim ownership of won’t stop resisting you?”

“I get it,” Jay sighed, rolling his eyes. “We had this whole blow out, and you couldn’t choose between me or Cole, you were confused, but it seems that decision is pretty easy to make now, isn’t it?”

“It was never about choosing between you two-”

“Then what was all of this for?!” Jay wave his hands around, his body tensing up again.

“Being able to choose!” Nya screamed back. “To be able to make a choice!”

“Well guess what, your choices are now pretty limited.” Jay narrowed his eyes as he leaned forward. “And I’m the only one you’ve got left, so I don’t know why you’re taking so long to decide.”

“I don’t have to choose you.” Nya folded her arms.

“I don’t think you’re getting it. There’s no point in delaying everything with this defiance period.” Jay continued, exasperated. “I saw the future! You were with me! It’s going to happen!”

“I know!” Nya yelled back, tears beginning to leave her eyes. “I know, I know already! I knew before you did!”

Jay paused, his anger still writhing. “What?”

Nya wiped away tears, her voice lowering. “I knew. I already knew.”

Jay’s face furrowed in confusion. “What do you mean ‘you knew’ you didn’t-”

“You think Zane’s the only one on the team getting visions?!” Nya cut him off. “The universe told me, a long time ago.” She turned her back to him, her shoulders hunching as she held herself. “The night I met you, I had the most vivid dream. So tangible, that I knew it had to be a premonition… and I was with you.”

Jay’s mind raced, struggling to process the new information. “So you knew, the whole time we’ve known each other? Through the dating, and the Cole situation…”

Nya turned back around, but her eyes still refused to look back at him, now swollen and drowning. “You couldn’t talk the day I met you,” she smiled. “So the first time I heard your voice was in that dream.” The tears started to slow as she recalled the memory. “I didn’t recognize where we were, or even really know what it was we were doing, but I remember feeling so happy.”

“That’s all I want.” Jay slowly moved forward, making an attempt to grab her hands. “I just want you to be happy.”

Nya ripped her arm back, wiping away more tears. “No you don’t, Jay.” She shook her head. “You want you to be happy. And you think you need me for that to happen.”

Jay thought for a moment, still uncertain what all of this meant. “You said you were happy in the dream. Doesn’t that mean you’d be happy with me?”

“You know what, maybe one day I would be, Jay,” she shrugged. “But even if I do end up with you eventually, and it does make me happy, you know what I know for sure?” her eyes narrowed as she looked up at him. “You don’t make me happy right now.”

“Nya-”

“I’m serious!” she snapped back, straightening up. “I don't care what the future holds, you're asking me to be in a relationship with you right now, and that is not something I want right now. I don't know how you can't get that through your head."

So, if you can’t do that-” her finger pushed forward, resting on his chest as her eyes stared sharply down into his, delivering with them a certainty of her words. “Then you are not the man I marry.”

Put on your party hats and grab a kazoo folks bc we're having a party! A writing party :DDDDDDD

How it Works:

I have a set (two, actually!) of dice. Everyone may send in up to 3 dice they would like me to roll (ex. 1d6, 1d4, and 1d20 or 2d20 and 1d100)

Each of the dice corresponds to a different random element of the fic

My job, should I choose to accept it (and I must) is to write a fic with the given dice-rolled prompts in 24-72 hours after I answer the ask

I will then post the fic to tumblr (and @ the person who sent the ask) and Ao3, where they will be compiled into a special collection

Optional: the person who sent the ask will then have the same amount of time to write a fic! The catch? I will reroll the dice they sent me and send them an ask with the given prompts.

OKAY OKAY

I just noticed something about when Kai started being an ass to Jay.

He started joking about Jay being useless in season 11 and has been doing so ever since. It’s also worth noticing that he hasn’t just doubted how capable Jay is — he did the same with Cole when he questioned Cole having a crew (that crew being the Upply).

So basically:

Kai started teasing Jay about being basically useless in season 11, the season after Jay proposed to Nya and the season in which Jay and Nya start being a lot more openly affectionate in their ((romantic!!!!!)) relationship

Kai doubted Cole having a crew — Cole having a crew would mean he made new friends.

How are these similar?

Look at Kai’s personality. He has always been hella cocky, and he’s always had a lot of insecurity (also worth noting he has abandonment, attachment, and self esteem issues!!!!).

The situations I mentioned with Jay and Cole have the potential to trigger a lot of jealousy, especially in someone like Kai. It’s implied in Crystalized that Kai and Skylor hadn’t talked since Hunted (in fact Skylor mentions that she felt like he’d forgotten her in Compatible), and throughout the series Kai has never exactly been the best when it comes to first impressions and making friends, because he’s pretty confrontational and standoffish. It’s not until later that he starts to open up and lose some of that; in fact I’d argue he doesn’t truly get more relaxed until Seabound. His first impressions have never been the best (examples: Jake in season 11 and Cole, Jay, and Zane in the pilots) and I don’t doubt that he has had a hard time making friends, at least in the past. What am I saying by bringing this up?

It’s possible that Kai started being kind of a dick towards Jay in Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu because of jealousy, and it’s also possible that he doubted Cole having a crew because he was jealous about it.

After all, Jay has a girlfriend he gets to hang out with regularly (and by extension, Nya has a boyfriend she can hang out with regularly), why doesn’t Kai? Cole made some new friends and had a crew, why didn’t Kai?

I’m genuinely not surprised after thinking through all this that Kai started being a bit more of a dick in season 11. I almost don’t blame him either. Granted his jealousy about Jay and Nya’s relationship was completely dumb and could’ve been fixed if he’d just hung out with Skylor between missions (seriously, you mean to tell me he didn’t have time between Prime Empire and Master of the Mountain to go to Ninjago City and go on at least 3 or 4 dates with Skylor? You mean to tell me he NEVER had time to go on dates with Skylor between Hunted and Crystalized? ) but I still think Kai’s behavioral shift in terms of how much of an ass he is towards Jay in the WildBrain installments is likely because of jealousy. It wouldn’t be the first time he’s had weird emotional/behavioral shifts because of jealousy (to be fair the green ninja stuff in Tournament of Elements was caused by manipulation more than anything but that was also a lot more severe than Kai’s teasing being a little meaner).

So since Anthonia is a distant cousin, does that mean she's stuck with Kai as a family member when he start dating Skylor ? Amd what would be her reaction and the others about their relationship? ( the others means the ninjas, Jesse, Anthonia, ect )

Nothing quite that drastic, but once Skylor gets the chance to meet Antonia she's thrilled at the idea of "meeting some of her mother's family" (even if it is family that's like seven times removed)

Antonia thinks Skylor is cool as hell and thinks it's funny to watch Kai absolutely fumble over her

Lloyd can literally sense the potency of their connection and thus approves, but also likes seeing Kai unashamedly happy again (especially after S3's aftermath, hoo)

Zane, as usual, minds his business about other people's love lives, although he (and Pixal) are naturally a little skeptical about Skylor specifically and her intentions even after everything. But with how hard Kai vouches and seeing her try to better herself, he eventually warms up to her

Pixal takes much longer to stop giving the cold shoulder. Skylor doesn't blame her. Kai feels slightly guilty but not guilty enough

Cole taunts Kai relentlessly for being so blatantly weak for Skylor after witnessing months of his shameless flirting with people but Kai just flips the script on him when it comes to Jesse

Speaking of Jesse, certain S3-related circumstances ahem lead him to having a crush on Skylor for like 48 hrs (because she is attractive and cool and he is a weak bisexual individual). Non-drama shenanigans ensue and he and Skylor become good friends, but Jesse ultimately and very gladly sends her in Kai's direction snksnknk (Jesse you've been in enough triangles for a lifetime stop)

Nya: How. How did this happen. Jesse: ...how did what happen? Nya: How do you guys get kidnapped onto a remote island, forced into a life-or-death elemental tournament WITHOUT ME, and Kai, a solid 7 maybe on a good day, comes back with a living, breathing once-evil smoking hot strong af girlfriend on his arm???? Nya: Am I in a parallel world??? A mirror realm of some kind??? A DREAM?! Chad: No, it's more a nightmare, really. Nya: ...I have to lay down. I have to be imagining things– Kai: sHUT UP NYA IT'S NOT THAT HARD TO BELIEVE Skylor: *losing her mind laughing*

The issue with Kai is, when it comes to you, he tends to get over passionate and impulsive.

He may accidentally rush his obsession when he means to take things slow which can get him into trouble.

Kai is Obsessive, Flirtatious, Overprotective, Manipulative, Impulsive, Observing, and Jealous.

He intends to take his obsession with you slow... but for one reason or another he accidentally rushes things.

When Kai first meets you he's playful with flirting.

He gives you compliments and talks about all of his successes as a ninja.

Due to his overconfidence he tends to focus on talking about himself to try and impress you.

Nya spares you by telling him to stop and focus.

Kai apologizes to you for his failed attempts at impressing you.

You laugh it off and you actually become good friends with him.

He's always been eager but you've grown used to it.

Kai, like Jay and Zane, is also a ninja to stalk his darling in order to get to know them better.

It happens even more when he develops a crush on you.

Kai's an older brother to Nya.

This can make him feel like he knows more than his darling when he's around you.

It feels upsetting to you already but if you were dating you feel it's condescending that Kai has this outlook.

It's a habit of his to act like he's supposed to take care of you and know everything.

You can tell him off about it but that may cause an argument as Kai is stubborn.

Kai can be impulsive, a dangerous trait paired with his jealousy.

Kai's... hotheaded.

While he normally has things under control... jealousy can drive up his temper.

Kai's not as physically strong as Cole but does get lost in his own anger.

Like fire, Kai's anger can get out of control and hurt people.

Kai doesn't like the idea of murder but he just may do it or something close to it by accident with his temper.

Kai is another yandere who regrets it if he does kill someone over you.

It quells his jealousy a bit... but his morals make him feel guilt.

Kai may accidentally harm his darling if he blames you for his jealousy.

Although afterwards he patches you up and offers to kiss it better... because he loves you and didn't mean it.

Kai overall is a temperamental yandere who just wants to impress his darling and protect them.

He wants to use his powers to protect and love you... to keep you warm and happy...

But one wrong move with his obsession and he could harm everyone around him like the fire that burns in his heart.

The others sometimes spy on him while he's singing to the music when he's alone, because he'll never sing in front of anyone and his voice is angelic

Nya: Some villagers unearthed the remains of this Fangpyre a few miles away. It predates the Golden Age, and must be hundreds of years old. Although the venom in the fangs of the Fangpyre genetically mutate human cells into reptilian, I've learned there could be a way to stop the effects without having to create an antivenom. (Zane is shown taking notes while Kai is bored. Cole is drawing a picture of him fighting while Jay, sporting a new hairstyle, stares at Nya with an infatuated expression on his face.) If one is able to wildly raise their heart rate, hypothetically it could reverse the venom's effects. (Her cheeks turn pink.) Resulting in...diminished, uh, excuse me, is someone wearing perfume? I'm severely allergic to perfume.

Jay: Heh. (Whispers to Kai) You told me it was men's cologne.

Kai: Meh, I get them mixed up. (Everyone but Jay and Nya laughs. Zane turns his humor switch off.)

Cole: Ah, looks like class is over. Time to start stomping some Serpentine before they find any Fangblades.

Kai: Sounds like a plan.

Zane: I'm excited to join. (Jay waits for them to leave.)

Jay: Uh, hey uh, Nya, I'm sorry. The reason I was—you know—I went to Kai because—look. What I'm trying to say is—

Nya: I know. It's just a cruel joke. I should be fine. Please, go fight snakes.

Jay: No, no, no, no. I was trying to impress you. Before Sensei left, he said our heart was the key to unlocking our True Potential.

Nya: Impress me? But I look so...

Jay: Fantastic. (Nya begins playing with her hair.) Look, maybe, if you'll let me, I can take you to some big fancy restaurant. You don't have to, if you don't want to...

Nya: You mean like a date?

Jay: Um, yeah?

Nya: Sure! I'd love to. But I have to go now before the perfume toxins enter my bloodstream and I go into shock. See you tonight. (She leaves.)

Jay: Yes! (Laughs, and accidentally pricks himself on the skeleton.) Ow! Aah! Man. (He leaves unaware of a trickle of venom dripping from the skeleton.)

(On the Mountain of Madness, Wu confronts Garmadon.)

Garmadon: Hello, brother. What took you so long? You brought the katana from our youth. Funny, you never had the courage to cross the temple wall, yet now you have the courage to come here.

Wu: Why have you come to this place of darkness?

Garmadon: A place as wicked as me? Don't you see? Here I feel at home. In Ninjago, I was physically unable to hold all four Spinjitzu Weapons. But here, dark magic has made me stronger and what was once impossible is now possible. (He reveals he now has four arms.)

Wu: You came here only to possess the Weapons of Spinjitzu?

Garmadon: Yes, brother, and I refuse to allow you or your petty ninja to stop me! (He summons four weapons to wield and starts attacking his brother.)

Wu: (He falls down in a pit of mud and tries to fend against the mud monsters.) Brother, I've not come here to—

Garmadon: You will pay for your visit. Mud monsters, converge! You don't belong here, old fool. You should've known better than to try to stop me.

Wu: (Struggling) I didn't come to stop you. I came to warn you. To tell you—your son's in danger! Aah!

Garmadon: Lloyd? (He pulls Wu out of the mud monsters.) What has Lloyd gotten himself into?

Wu: He has opened a can of worms I fear I will never be able to close.

Garmadon: You mean we will never be able to close. Get up. You can tell me more later. First, we need to return home. How did you find me?

Wu: Traveler's Tea. But I used it all and now have no way back.

Garmadon: There is only one way to return to Ninjago. But to get there, we must pass through the Mountain of Madness and it is a long and dangerous road ahead.

Wu: I wouldn't have it any other way.

Garmadon: We should leave. Before it really gets dark.

(The Serpentine dig their way aboveground just outside of Mega Monster Amusement Park.)

Skales: This is it, Pythor. The map leads us here. The first Fangblade. (He points to the park.) Maybe it's better to wait until dark, so we don't attract any unwanted attention from the ninja or Samurai.

Pythor: Oh, I have a feeling we'll fit right in.

(A kid runs away and screams.)

Employee: Hey, don't go.

Man: Excuse me. Would you mind if my family takes a picture with you?

Woman: Your costume is so authentic.

Pythor: Of course. Welcome to—to, uh (He looks at a sign.) Mega Monster Amusement Park!

Skales: Say cheese.

All: Cheese!

(At the Destiny's Bounty, Jay is getting ready for the date.)

Jay: Did I ever tell you I was the first one to learn Spinjitzu? No, I mean, uh, I invented Spinjitzu. Yeah, that's it. And i invented a few other moves, like the karate double chop. Hyah! (He looks at his hand, which has formed green scales.) No! No, no, no. The prick from the Fangpyre fang! Oh, no. This isn't happening. No, it's nothing. It's just a rash. It'll probably just go away. You're gonna do great, Jay. This is your chance to shine. Hehe. (He goes to the bridge wearing gloves.)

Cole: Whoa, where are you going, Mr. Fancy?

Jay: Didn't you hear? I'm taking Nya to a nice restaurant. A really nice restaurant.

Kai: You might wanna change your plans. The bridge just picked up evidence of Serpentine activity over at Mega Monster Amusement Park. (The monitor shows a photo of Serpentine in the park.l

Jay: Hey, that's Pythor.

Zane: Pythor would not be there for fun. We believe a Fangblade may be buried underneath the park.

Jay: We can't let them get it! Oh, but my date...

Kai: Jay, if they get all four of them, Pythor can unleash the Great Devourer. Get your priorities straight, man.

(Jay gets an idea and goes knock on Nya's door just after she comes in as Samurai X.)

Nya: Huh?

Jay: (opening the door) Uh, Nya, you there? (Nya slams the door.) Argh!

Nya: Don't come in! I'm getting ready.

Jay: Well, um—I just wanna talk to you about our date. You know, I'm hearing really bad reviews for the restaurant and I just...

Nya: (Her bracelet projects a map.) Serpentine spotted at Mega Monster Amusement Park?

Jay: You know, I think we should cancel.

Nya: (She opens the door.) Oh, you're canceling?

Jay: No, no. I just wanted to know if you would rather go to the Mega Monster Amusement Park instead.

Nya: Really? That would be perfect! But aren't you overdressed? (Nya gasps when she sees her Samurai helmet in view.)

Jay: Well, yeah. Of course, I need to change— (Nya kicks the helmet.) What was that?

Nya: Nothing! You know what? I'll dress up too. Looks fun.

Jay: Hey, I was thinking, you know, we'd take my Storm Glider there.

Nya: Sounds like fun. (She comes from behind a changing screen in a sequined dress which stuns Jay before he smiles.) I'm in your hands. (They take off.)

(Wu and Garmadon follows a path that leads to the Mountain of Madness.)

Garmadon: So, what kind of trouble has Lloyd gotten himself into?

Wu: Well, I'm afraid to say, the worst kind. He's reopened the Serpentine tombs, and now that they have united, Pythor is trying to find the Four Silver Fangblades to unleash the Great Devourer.

Garmadon: The very snake that turned me evil?

Wu: Yes.

Garmadon: Why would Lloyd open the tombs?

Wu: To be like you.

Garmadon: I never wanted him to. Thank you for watching out for him.

Wu: You may think of me as your enemy, but I was first your brother.

(Jay and Nya arrived at a restaurant in Mega Monster.)

Jay: Yeah, even when I was young, it was clear I was born and bred for adventure. I was the first one to get my knot badge in Little Scouts. I was always trying daring foods. I once built these wings from scrap metal and other—uh, you okay? You seem kind of distant.

Nya: Uh, yeah. It's just the portions are so big. And to think we split our dish.

Jay: Heh. So that Samurai. Oh, man. I hate him, don't you? He's such a showboat, you know? If you ask me, he's nothing without his big, clunky exo-suit.

Nya: Oh.

Jay: Yeah. Nothing can compare to two good old fashioned feet and fists, don't you think?

Nya: Yeah, sure.

Jay: You know, sssomebody once told me... (He gasps and looks at his reflection in a spoon. He realizes he has fangs.)

Nya: You okay?

Jay: Excusse me. I have to use the resstroom. (He enters the restroom and discovers he's turning green before removing his glove and seeing his hand in the same condition.) Oh, gosh. I'm turning into a snake! (A man tries to enter the restroom.) I'm busy, dude! Can't you see it's taken? I can't go out there looking like this. This is the worst date ever!

(Meanwhile, a group of visitors is riding an attraction that is meant to be scary.)

Man: Ha! Lame! This ride is stupid. (He sees the Serpentine digging.) Heh, look how stupid this guy looks. (He and the others were sprayed with Venomari venom.) Get me off this thing! Mommy!

Kai: Where is everybody? (They see the riders scream and run out of the attraction.)

Cole: Wait a minute, that ride was never scary.

Zane: Venomari.

Kai: Should we get Jay?

Cole: Let's not bother the two lovebirds. I think we can handle this.

Kai: Excuse us, coming through.

Cole: Nothing to look at, folks.

Zane: This is official ninja business.

(Jay still hasn't come back from the restroom and Nya is worried.)

Nya: (Sighs) Sorry, Jay. Duty calls. (She leaves the booth.)

Jay: Huh, you don't look so bad. Just go out there and tell her the truth. (He feels something on his back and turns around.) Ah! I have a tail! No, no, it's okay, Jay. Lots of girls like tails. (He goes back to their table.) She left? Nya?

Man: Snake! (Everyone surrounds him.)

Jay No! Stop! You don't understand!

(Nya gets in her Mech. Meanwhile, the Serpentine uncovers the Fangblade.)

Pythor: Ah. (Laughs) The first fangblade is ours!

(The Sword of Fire is shown igniting as Kai, Cole and Zane arrive.)

Kai: Not so fast.

Cole: Really? That's the best you got?

Kai: I couldn't think of anything on the fly.

Cole: How about "Time to burn" or "Jump on this fire ride?"

Kai: Well, next time, you lead.

Cole: Next time I will.

Kai: Oh, yeah? If you can catch up.

Cole: Oh, come on. You gotta follow my lead. (They attack the Serpentine.)

Man: Ninjas? Ninjas aren't scary.

Zane: Watch and learn, brothers. (He uses his True Potential, but accidentally freezes his teammates.) Oops.

Pythor: (Everyone laughs and runs away, but Nya uses her Mech to steal the Fangblade.) Stop him!

Nya: (tries to fly off but can't) Thruster malfunction. (She runs away but the snakes eventually tackle her.)

Pythor: Finally, the mystery man is revealed. (Everyone gasps when her helmet is taken off.) Or should I have said mystery girl? Who's gonna save you now, hmm?

(The crowd is still hitting Jay.)

Jay: Ow! (He crawls out, heads to the restroom, and conceals himself with his scarf.) Do not go in there. He bites. This is not dinner theater, people. It's real! Arm yourselves. (He runs outside.) Nya! Where is she? (He sees a group of snakes.) Hey! (The Serpentine laugh at him when they see his tail.)

Pythor: Oh, what happened? Snake bite your tongue?

Nya: (Tied on a roller coaster train) Jay! Help!

Pythor: (Signals for Bytar to turn it on) Later, alligator. Let's go, boys.

(Jay gets on the ride.)

Nya: What happened to you?

Jay: What happened to you? (He spots a ring of fire and broken tracks ahead.) Unh, we have to get you out of here.

Nya: (seeing his tail) Were you bit? Take off your head scarf.

Jay: I prefer not. I was meaning to tell you, but I didn't want it to ruin the date.

Nya: Oh, that's so sweet. Hey, you were the first in your 'Lil Scouts group to get your knot badge, right?

Jay: Yeah, about that, I made that up just so I could impress you. I was never in 'Lil Scouts.

Nya: You weren't? Hold on.

Jay: What? You have an idea?

Nya: No, hold on! (They ride down a slope and Jay's scarf comes undone.)

Jay: Aah! Don't look at me! I'm a monster. Though I hate the Samurai, where is he when you actually need him? Samurai! Help! Help! Samurai!

Nya: Jay, I don't think the Samurai is coming.

Jay: Why?

Nya: I know this might not be the best time, but I haven't been totally honest either.

Jay: What is it?

Nya: I...I'm the Samurai!

Jay: You're the Samurai!? Aah! We're running out of track.

Nya: Jay, if anything horrible were to happen, I want you to know that you don't have to wear cologne or pretend to be anything that you're not. Because I like you best when you're you. (She kisses him and he turns back to human.) Your face. You're returning back to normal.

Jay: It's just like you said. You must have raised my heart rate.

Nya: Whatever happens next, just remember, you are the best you. (Jay stands up as his Nunchucks begin to surge with more power than before.) What's happening?

Jay: My True Potential. (He turns into pure electricity and stops the train before it reaches the ring of fire.)

(The ninja meet up at the Park's entrance.)

Zane: You really had me fooled. I never guessed you were the Samurai.

Cole: I wished I had a sister like you.

Kai: Technically, I was the first to discover her secret, and didn't we agree whoever we thought was the best would naturally be the Green Ninja? Huh? The Green Ninja! The destined ninja to defeat Lord Garmadon, huh?

Jay: Why would we say that?

Cole: Yeah, I'm drawing a blank.

Zane: Nope. That conversation is not in my database.

Jay: You know what I learned today?

Nya: What's that?

Jay: No matter what kind of secret you have, whether you're a snake or a samurai, it's important to be yourself.

Cole: Yeah, that's cute, but you wanna know what I learned? The Serpentine now have the first Fangblade.

Zane: But we are getting stronger. One day, we will all reach our True Potential and Pythor will be stopped.

Jay: And we figured out all this without Sensei. Pretty good for four ninja. (Nya punches him.) And a Samurai.

Kai: I wonder what Sensei is doing now.

(Garmadon and Wu reached the base of the mountain.)

Garmadon: We're here. The Mountain of Madness.

Wu: The only way back to Ninjago is up there?

Garmadon: The worst is yet to come. (They start ascending the mountain.)

Dance With You: A Lavashipping Oneshot

Happy White Day!!! I had Cole/Kai A pairing for the @ninjago-valentine-exchange event!

Summary: Kai and Cole go to an LGBT dance and are cute together. Also Kai hasn't told Nya they're dating...

“Hey Kai guess what!”

Kai looked up from his phone as Cole came over and plopped down next to him on the couch. His boyfriend’s eyes were bright and he looked very pleased about something.

“What?”

Cole thrust two slips of paper towards Kai, “There's a LGBT+ dance happening at Laughy's Karaoke Bar tonight, and I got us tickets!”

Kai took the tickets from Cole and examined them. They were thicker than he thought they’d be. A glittery overlay shimmered over their surfaces as Kai read the words Admit One: Pride Prom! Food! Drink! Fun! 7:00-Midnight (ID required for alcoholic beverages)

Kai rubbed his thumb over the smooth, shiny slips, doubt in the back of his mind. “Cole, this is… really sweet of you, but you do know I don't know how to dance, right?”

“That's okay, I can teach you some moves! Besides, there's no one right way to dance, you just got to feel the music and let yourself move with it.” Cole let his arms wiggle around as he said that, and Kai smiled despite his initial qualms. Cole was just too adorable to resist.

“If you say so,” Kai answered, then immediately followed up with “Oh shoot, what should I wear?”

“I don't think it really matters,” Cole replied. “I mean it is a pride event, so, something gay?”

“Alright, Kai, something gay, something gay… something…gay…” Kai stared at the jumble of shirts on his unmade bed. So far all he’d found were some t-shirts, old ninja ghis from past seasons, and a sweater vest that he was pretty sure was actualy Zane’s. Despite that possibly being the gayest piece of clothing in the room, Kai didn’t even consider it. It was a bit too dorky for his taste.

Kai sighed and rubbed his chin in thought. Cole had said that dressing fancy wasn’t a requirement, but he’d forgotten one small thing about dating Kai: He was dating Kai, and Kai didn’t go anywhere looking only half his best. Kai turned back to the messy bed, rubbing his hands together, “Let’s do this!”

“Do what?”

Kai’s hands produced a sudden startled spark of flame, and he felt his insides shift as he whirled around to see Nya in the doorway, one hand on her hip, looking at him in curiosity.

“Oh, uhm, nothing! It’s nothing!” He started gathering up the shirts while still maintaining eye contact with his sister, “Just getting rid of some old shirts! Gonna revamp my wardrobe. Can’t have Jay owning more nice outfits than me, amiright?” Kai hoped his unsuspicious smile didn’t look as fake as it felt.

Nya puffed at some stray bangs that had fallen over her eye, “Are you going clothes shopping with Cole then? He mentioned you two were going out later.”

Oh he did, did he? Kai nodded, “Yeahp! Gonna drop off our old clothes at a thrift store, shop around, hit the arcade—bro stuff.”

“Ok, have fun! Jay and I are going out later too, so maybe we’ll run into each other!”

I highly doubt that.

Before Nya could say anything else, Jay’s voice rang out from across the hall, “Nya, have you seen my Miku binder?”

“Did you leave it in my room?”

Before Kai could question why Jay’s binder would be in her room, Nya had disappeared, leaving him alone with his sorry pile of unfancy clothes.

Kai picked up a red hoodie he hadn’t noticed before. The fabric sported a scaley flowery pattern, and there were flame designs going up the back and down the arms. Kai held it up to himself. “Welp, it could be gayer, but it’s the best we got.” Kai pulled the hoodie over his head and checked himself out in the mirror. He looked more cozy than fancy, but Cole was always telling him how cuddly he looked anyways so he supposed it wasn’t the end of the world. Though now that he looked closer at the pattern, he was reminded of one of Nya’s outfits, which gave him an idea…

“I can’t believe you stole Nya’s clothes!”

“Ah—hey, no, I borrowed them. Bor-rowed. There’s a difference, babe.” Kai checked his reflection in the rearview mirror of Cole’s car to make sure his eyeliner hadn’t smudged. It hadn’t and Kai winked at himself, grinning. “What do you think, Cole, Do I look pretty enough for you?”

Cole kept his eyes on the road, “I already told you you look amazing, but yes, Kai,” he stole a quick glance before looking ahead again, “Who knew a boob window would look so good on you?”

“I know!” Kai answered, “And she just had it in the back of her closet! I’ve never even seen her wear it before!” They paused at a stoplight. Daylight was nearly gone by now and the red glowed pleasantly on everything.

“You know,” Cole hesitated, “She probably would’ve given it to you if you’d asked.”

It was Kai’s turn to look ahead. His boyfriend was right, of course Nya would have. But she also would’ve wanted to know what he was dressing up for, and that… He sighed; he just wasn’t ready to tell her. He wanted to. He wanted to tell her everything about him and Cole, about how much he loved him, about the special times they spent together. But any time he imagined telling her there was a weight in his stomach that wouldn’t leave.

The strong warmth of Cole’s hand on his pulled him out of his thoughts. Cole squeezed gently, “It’s gonna be okay, Kai. Whenever you’re ready to tell her, she’ll understand.”

Kai smiled softly and held onto his hand the rest of the drive.

A giant rainbow banner hung above the entrance to Laughy’s, and balloons floated on either side of the doors. The music could be heard from outside and Kai hoped it wouldn’t be too loud in there.

“Fun fact, I’ve never been to a prom before,” Kai said after Cole had turned in their tickets.”

“And I’ve never been to one with a guy before!” Cole replied, eyes shining with excitement.

“Wait, really? Handsome guy like you?”

Cole shrugged, “I wouldn’t have gone at all if Dad hadn’t made me. He’d say that ‘no son of mine will miss an opportunity to outshine potential dance competitors under my watch!’”

"Pfft" Kai knew that Cole’s dad was trying to be better, but stories like these made him lowkey want to fight him.

“Him expecting me to go with girls didn’t help either.”

Kai winced in sympathy. Not there was anything wrong with girls, girls were amazing, cool, and pretty! But it must have sucked for Cole if he’d wanted to ask cute boys out instead.

Inside, the music was even louder, and the bar was decked out in sparkly streamers and colorful, rotating neon lights. There were people in different outfits standing around, dancing, and getting food from the bar. Kai saw Dareth serving drinks and vibing to the music when there was no one to be served. Near where Kai and Cole had entered, there was a photo setup with a cute background and a table to the side that was filled with silly trinkets and accessories to be used as props.

Kai tugged his boyfriend towards it excitedly, “Come on!” Once they were over there, Kai pulled out his phone to take some selfies of them. His breath hitched in surprise when Cole kissed his cheek for one of them., and Kai poked him in the ribs in the spot he knew was ticklish in response. This made Cole squeak at a higher pitch than either of them were expecting, and they both cracked up. Kai then remembered the props and grabbed some fancy glasses. Cole donned a hat that looked like a rotisserie chicken and handed Kai a sign that said “I can't dance” in a silly rainbow font.

After many, many more silly pictures, they turned their attention to the dance floor where a dozen or so couples were throwing it down to upbeat disco music. Cole looked at Kai excitedly and pulled him onto the floor.

Kai was elated to finally be there, but the music was extremely loud and pounded in his ears uncomfortably and he worried that he wouldn't be able to do this after all.

No, you can do this. This is really important to him.

However, the pounding in his skull needed to stop. “Hey Cole, could we move a little further away from the speaker?”

“What?” Cole asked over the noise.

Kai pulled him closer and repeated himself.

“Oh yeah sure!” Kai guided him as far away from the speakers as he could while still keeping them in the dance area.

Once they’d established their place in the room, Cole immediately started busting out moves. Compared to him, Kai felt stiff and awkward. He was still vibing with the music, but he couldn't help feeling eyes watching him from all around.

Don't focus on that, he told himself, focus on Cole. Focus on us. This is our night; it shouldn't matter what others think.

He found himself captivated by the way Cole danced. He did it so naturally, letting his body move to the beat and letting the music flow through him. It reminded Kai of how he looked when he was connecting with his powers, except more elegant and fluid. Cole was one with himself and his movements, and he was beautiful. Kai imagined that it was just the two of them there, and felt himself loosen up significantly.

“Feel the music and let yourself move with it.” Cole’s voice echoed in Kai’s head and he closed his eyes, leting himelf get lost to the current song’s beat.

His eyes flung open again when Cole suddenly decided to grab his hands and spin him around like a top and dip him. Kai found himself supended inches from the ground as his boyfriend’s golden brown eyes stared into his own.

Kai grinned, “Hello there!”

“Pfft, you’re a dork,” Cole responded with a small laugh as he pulled Kai back up to a standing position and held him close.

Kai’s heart melted at how cute Cole looked when he laughed, and he had half a mind to kiss that smile of his. Their faces were already so close… Cole seemed to have the same idea, because his eyes fluttered shut and he and leaned in, his lips parted slightly. Kai was about to meet him halfway, but right before he closed his eyes, he caught sight of two familiar figures entering the bar.

“Cole, there’s a problem,” He whisper yelled, feeling panic claw at his insides.

Cole looked at him in concern, “What, does my breath smell or something?”

“No, Nya and Jay are here!”

“What?” Cole glanced past Kai and his eyes widened in recognition.

Kai squeezed Cole’s hand, “What do we do?”

“Welp, face the music, I guess, cause Jay is waving at us.”

“WHAT?”

Kai’s mind was racing. He had to leave; he couldn’t let Nya see him. He wasn’t ready—oh my gosh they were coming this way…

“…and I mean now that I think about it, if they’re here at a pride event then there’s really nothing to worry about, right?” Kai barely heard Cole’s attempts to reassure him, because he’d locked eyes with Nya, who was giving him an unreadable look. Kai gulped, those looks were always the most worrisome with her.

Jay waved again as they got closer, “Hey, Kai! Cole! Didn’t expect to see you here!”

“Jay, bro!” Cole replied, and fist bumped him. Nya eyed Kai intentionally as their respective boyfriends continued talking, and Kai followed her to a quieter part of the bar, bracing himself for whatever his sister was about to say.

Nya looked him dead in the face, “Why haven’t you told us you two were together? Why didn't you tell me? I'm your sister. We’re supposed to tell each other stuff like this!”

“I dunno,” Kai mumbled, not making eye contact, “I guess I was worried you’d be upset for some reason.”

“Where did you get that stupid idea?” Nya asked, indignantly. “I’ve known you and Cole have been dating for months now, and you are perfect for each other! I’ve been waiting for you to tell me, but apparently you don’t trust me enough! Again, I'm your sister! I support you no matter what.” Nya pulled her brother into a hug, “I want you to be happy, Kai, you deserve it, especially after all we’ve been through. And I’m here for you if you ever need to talk about this stuff.”

Kai felt a bit of moisture in his eyes and returned the hug, holding onto Nya tightly. “I’m sorry for not telling you sooner. You really are the best sister, you know that?” He whispered.

“Oh, I know it.”

Kai snorted in amusement and Nya let go first. Kai then remembered, “I am confused though, why are you and Jay here? Aren't you straight couple?”

Nya looked at him funnily, “Jay is trans man Kai. It's an LGB-T prom, not just a gay prom.”

Kai slapped his hand against his forehead, “I don't know why I keep forgetting that. You are totally right!”

“Also, if you ever steal my clothes without my permission again, I will bust out your baby pictures to show Cole.”

“Oh no, anything but that!” Kai responded, half-jokingly, “but noted.”

A more calming, romantic song began to play, and Kai was suddenly pulled away from Nya and found himself face to face with Cole, who put a hand on his waist and began guiding him through simple dance steps. They swayed from side to side, gazing into each other's eyes. Cole was smiling at him with the cutest look of adoration on his face.

“What are you smiling at?” Kai asked him with a raised eyebrow and a curious smirk.

“Just about how gorgeous you are,” Cole answered.

Kai felt his face flush and he sputtered, “Yeah? Well, you are... really… rockin’?” Kai winced at how lame that sounded, but it just made Cole laugh.

“Oh my gosh that sounds like something Jay would say.” He snorted.

Kai looked Cole in the eyes, “Come on, give me a break. I’m used to being the one saying the smooth pick up lines, not the one getting them said to me!”

“You’re adorable. Hey, how’d it go with Nya?”

“She said she figured it out months ago.”

Cole chuckled, “Of course she did, can’t hide anything from her.”

Kai looked over at his sister—who was totally stealing the spotlight with Jay as they did their special dance routine—and smiled, “She also said we’re perfect for each other.”

“Damn right we are!” Cole pressed a kiss to Kai’s temple, “I love you so much, Kai!”

Kai knew that he would never get tired of hearing Cole say that to him. He pressed his forehead against Cole’s and replied, “I love you too, more than anything.” Then Kai kissed him on the dance floor, surrounded by people just like him, finally unafraid of what anyone would say.
