Why is that YA can get away with so much in comparison to Adult fiction?? Like, aside from "no graphic sex" (tho there's been some pretty spicy scenes in some I read during my youth), the only hard line that cannot be crossed is "protag can't be older than 18" (tho New Adult pushes that to 20/22, I believe). You can have the most fucked of body horror, the most gruesome deaths, and gratuitous amount of gore and it's all good for an age-range of 13 to 18. Some of these "extreme Adult horror" books wish they can be on this level.

so i completed RE4 remake today

i’m not done with the game by a longshot and will probably continue to play it every day for the foreseeable future, but i don’t want to hear no shit from nobody about nothing

my perfect shooting gallery game was probably the achievement i was proudest of tbh because that took practice and patience and actually felt like a real display of skill

#resident evil 4 #so i hit the 100% completion mark on my 10th run #and at about run 6 or 7 lily gao finally grew on me #i still don't think she's great #and ada's very first cutscene in the game is still a flat horrible mess of a delivery #but it's mostly ada's radio transmissions where lily shines through #those actually sound really great #i was lowkey dreading separate ways because of her performance but #she definitely does have it in her #so i'm actually looking forward to separate ways now #if for no other reason to see how she does with a more focused campaign #so for now i'm going to focus on S+ing every character on every map in mercs #until separate ways comes out #and the game will FINALLY FUCKING GIVE ME WESKER IN MERCENARIES #(i've mained wesker in mercs since RE5) #(me and a buddy were actually in the top 100 ladder in the US for mercs with chris and wesker) #(and i just want to play a new mercs game with him goddamn it)

what i really like so far abt 2 is that they put in a lot more little details. the sprites still have the paper doll thing where sometimes you need to approximate an action thats too complicated to animate but way more stuff DOES have custom animations like particio pulling out a bag or throné doing the little knife flip at the end of battles, and also it seems like the protagonists you havent picked up yet have different dialogue depending on the party leader who talks to them which is great. most importantly though i really like that they have dialogue that react to each other in combat though, like giving them all lines for when specific party members do a good job or are in danger is really sweet

#c.paradisi #octoposting #octo1's weakest point to me was that the party members just did not interact with each other enough #the travel banters were good(i mean. the good ones were.) #but having them talk to each other in battle which you do a lot more of does a much better job selling that these ppl are like. friends #hopefully in octopath 3 they have onscreen gay sex but for now ill take all the girls taking turns telling throné she smells nice #also i dont wanna praise the game too much before i see the clerics route #but hopefully this game wont have the problem where like #if in-character a lot of the ot1 protagonists shouldve fucking hated each other. but theyre not actually allowed to fight #like primrose and alfyn shouldve been at each others' throats. #<- like if u do have characters who have mutually exclusive moral codes thats not bad . but in that case i want to see blood and biting #either i want the characters to make sense as buddies OR i want them to have clashing personalities that actually clash #the best im hoping for from the cleric is that he will be blandly inoffensive #idk if youve picked up on the incredibly subtle undertones but i was not a fan of ophilia #ideally he would be actively terrible and so a bunch of characters would have interesting conflicts with him #BUT i will settle for him just being There and not much else
