Saw your comment: "We're not all thirsty mommies, nor 12, nor bitter bitches. I'd love to see and hear more about what is beneath that mask, not beneath that shirt." Sam has done that before. He wrote an entire book about his journey but the book is called bullshit and he a liar. He's written well-thought out articles and forewords to books. He speaks intelligently and passionately and knowledgably about his liquors and the process of getting to market, and is called a shill. His work with Prickly Thistle is expensive and taking peoples' money, even when it helped this woman-owned mill immensely. It goes on and on. Today he's been accused of hypocrisy for a plastic cup, thirst trapping to change a conversation and using his social media as a PR tool to fool gullible women. Some may want to see beneath the mask but when he's shown what he is willing to you get the above.
Dear Hypocrisy Anon,
Thank you for your thoughts. I have read your long comment very carefully and let's say I agree with about 85% of it. The itching point is, of course, the book: Waypoints is a good ghostwritten memoir I have commented at length, with a more benevolent view than most of those who found it took some substantial liberty with what they (and I, for that matter) think it's the current state of play in SC Land. Note I am not saying the truth: that's only for Them to know, not for us. So dismissing it and calling everything a lie is a bit of a stretch. It's just a memoir, to be followed by other projects, other books. And who knows, another memoir, later on, where he could correct the course again at his convenience. He's only 43. Give the man some credit.
Trouble is, the world is a vast and diverse place. It's not just this fractured fandom. If he wants to remain relevant beyond OL, he needs, in my humble opinion, two things: a) to score a big role in a big budget production, which would improve his notoriety and help him reach a different public and b) curate his personal image a bit more and get out of this midlife crisis fake character he's peddling around. The only people who find it interesting are the thirsty mommies in *urv's crowd and that's, uhm... a bit irrelevant, in the big scheme of things.
So, no more political blunders, please and thank you. Shut the hell up and play Switzerland on complicated and divisive society issues which can get one in boiled water for a comma. Carefully picked and curated CSR projects, he'd ideally be more actively involved in. And yes, maybe a bit more transparency on the so many great things he does, like that partnership with the Edinburgh's Youth Theatre he didn't even mention himself or include in his stories (no doubt, out of a very British and endearing sense of modesty). And always remember: when faced with something beautiful and fragile, like that story, people will try their best to smear it and break it. I am not bitter, just realistic.
Same goes for your conclusion: I am sure many would like to see more of what is beneath that mask. It's too bad that a bunch of bitter, nasty, clueless, but also very noisy women occupy a bigger part of the stage than they should.
But have faith, Anon. For the moment, all of this is nothing what a good PR, not the clowns he obviously hired, can't fix with relative ease. Trust me. I've seen way worse. And remember, always remember what dear Wilde (God, I love that soul!) said: 'every saint has a past and every sinner has a future'.
You just gave me an idea for a future post and for this, I thank you, Anon. But for now, I have to catch up on a thing or two, rather than determine the morality of a plastic glass. I hope this long answer helps somewhat. Thank you for dropping by: it was a pleasure reading your musings.

The Scotsman interview 10 September 2023
Outlander star Sam Heghan has revealed he is ready for the "next challenge" when he finishes working on the hit show - and suggested it may involve scaling Mount Everest.
Writing in a new version of his first memoir, Waypoints, the Scottish stage and screen star revealed he has been pitching the idea of a TV documentary which would see him follow in the footsteps of the British explorer and mountaineer George Mallory.
He made three expeditions up the world's highest mountain in the 1920s but disappeared during the third along with climbing partner Andrew Irvine in 1924. Although Mallory's body was eventually found 75 years later, the mystery of whether he reached the summit has never been resolved.
Heughan was previously due to star alongside Ewan McGregor in a feature film recalling the race to conquer Everest in the 1920s, however, the project which was due to start filming last year never got off the ground.
Heughan started working on Outlander 10 years ago and seven series of the show have been made to date. An eighth and final series has been commissioned, although filming has been delayed to the writers' strike which has crippled Hollywood.
Heughan has already starred in Men in Kilts, an American documentary series following the actor and his Outlander co-star Graham McTavish around Scotland. A second series was made in New Zealand.
Waypoints, which followed Heughan as he walked the West Highland Way, was described as a "journey of self-discovery" as the actor, who was brought up in Dumfries and Galloway and Edinburgh, recalled the pivotal points in his life.
In a new final chapter of Waypoints, the 43-year-old actor revealed how completing his book had felt "like the end of the first chapter of his life and the beginning of a second."
He writes: "I'm nearing the end of my time on Outlander-eight seasons and ten years' of shooting - and the show has really shaped who I am.
"It has given me great opportunities and valuable experience that I can build on moving forward"
"I'm excited for the future. but it feels vitally important to acknowledge where I've come from"
"I would be where I am today with my past successes and (multiple!) failures"
"As a young man, I dreamed of working in the acting industry and being well-respected. It's certainly a dream come true and now I'm ready for the next challenge"
"A dream of mine has been to see the highest mountain in the world"
"I wrote in Waypoints about the Everest movie project that fell through and was disappointed I never made it to Nepal"
"However, more recently, I have been pitching a TV show that follows that dream (and the footsteps of George Mallory) from the UK to the Himalayan plateau and the slopes of Everest"
"Perhaps, If I'm lucky enough and dream hard enough I may yet find myself on the slopes of 'Chomolungma,' the earth's highest mountain"
"However, this time I'll be better prepared and ensure I'm not walking alone (and carrying plenty of snacks!)."

Everest/Waypoints companion diary theory
Waypoints was conceived when Sam secured the role of George Finch in Everest. The idea was most likely to optimise Sam’s known love of climbing the mountains in Scotland, and being in movie about Everest mountaineers.
Perfect marketing and PR.
But as we all know the movie has been indefinitely postponed. The only role Sam had purposely secured for 2022 gone. No other roles, which could accommodate the original schedule agreement regarding filming Everest. There would not be enough time to be on set for a feature film - not even weekends - and it would have had to be a UK production and location. OL had contractual priority.
What to do? Proceed with the initial concept but with a change. Make it personal. Make it about all the KTP’s ( key talking points).
. Early years. Family breakdown. His father and parental alienation and it’s impact on Sam.
. Early years acting. Getting the role that changed his life.
. Opportunity to finally discuss the nudity clause and the exploitation that he experienced ( carefully including Caitriona’s experience as well - they were in it together etc). An opportunity to settle scores with producers, production company and the leading players.
. Addressing the omnipresent questions for all the fans who watch as just Sam fans - his romantic life. The intrusion etc. Of course - reinforcing that he and Caitriona have never been romantically involved. Same, same.
It provided an outlet from filming OL, and all the while reminding fans he had a creative purpose for 2022. A purpose that would provide opportunities to see Sam in the flesh on the promotional circuit, and of course to promote himself.
I absolutely admire Sam turning a huge disappointment into a strategic opportunity to start the conversation publicly on theories that most have had about the relationship between the leads and the producers of OL.
It’s very clear with Sam discussing his feelings concerning betrayal and exploitation that he has waited for this moment. It been years in the making.
I’m not concerned with poor editing of the correct spelling of Caitríona, the brother/sister reiteration. Not concerned with the clear lies regarding his lack of preparedness for a five day hike. Come ON, he has been hiking for YEARS! And all the other glaring inaccuracies, it’s called creative license.
This book was meant to a light memoir filler for 2022. What has been revealing is the professional slam. Did not see that coming whilst still in production on OL. Bravo!

This fandom sure is a roller coaster. Reading the start of waypoints, I’m both curious about how Sam could alter facts so much to remove any hint of caitriona being at his home and part of his life, and also reassured that he’s a sensitive, kind, thoughtful person. It doesn’t jive at all with the image others try to sell. How lucky caitriona must be to know the real him, and I hope they’re so happy. And I don’t care if this makes me sound like a crazy obsessed old lady. I thought I had a question somewhere here, but I guess I forgot it! 🥴
Hehe. You're so sweet Anon. Sam has that impact on many. He has a graciousness and gentleness to his nature that makes people like him and empathise with his situation and forgive all lies told. He knows it too. Regarding Sam leaving all accounts of a shared wholesome family life out of Waypoints, did anyone here actually think he was going to do a grand reveal? SC Have implemented so many falsities to date pertaining to their personal lives that have broad reaching and serious implications for them. Most recently Cait had Tbag listed as the son in law on her fathers death notice.
They are in soooooo deep I question if there will be an out for them. No way have they gone to such incriminating lengths including an MC and a babies paternity incorrectly assigned, to just go ahead and reveal all truth in Sam's memoir. Sexy Single bachelor Sam is what he is sticking to especially for the purposes of selling his book to all those horny grannies.
Problem is, his contrived public image of a chronically single cigar smoking, whisky chugging sleaze that has a bi annual fuck with some desperado young enough to be his daughter, is at total odds with the way he represents himself; his other public persona of a single, fit, health concious, mountain climbing business entrepreneur, who munches on veggies and tucks himself into his rustic earthy linens at night while dreaming of finding love. This is the persona that evokes empathy. Sam is basically like that imo except has a wife and children. There was literally no need for them to hide and lie like this. People/fans/ the industry would have loved them together.

Live IG Waypoints cover reveal August 7 2022
Transcription, long version:
Tumblr media
After welcoming, explaining what Waypoints is; his new book, new memoir, really excited to share this very personal journey with you all. He was aware the cover already has been shared (😂) before he managed to reveal it, some people did get hold of it. But if you haven't seen it, I'm about to show you.
Tumblr media
Very briefly, just to tell you about it. The book will be coming out in October (25), you can pre-order, we've got a bunch of signed copies, it was a fun experience, it's basically a memoirs with a difference, I recount 'My journey', ‘My Scottish journey’ is the name, the title, Waypoints, my Scottish journey. From my birth upbringing in rural Scotland, to deciding to become an actor, and then obviously my career so far. Meanwhile I also go on this 96 mile hike, let’s say 100 miles on the West Highland Way in Scotland just around the end of October last year. And then I decided to climb Ben Nevis as well. In pretty much the beginning of winter which was probably not the best idea.
Still welcoming viewers, shout out to his publisher Radar books, and also to Voracious Books, thanking them for their guidance to create his first solo endeavor. Clanlands and the Almanac was a great experience working with my fond, angry, bearded co-star Graham McTavish, but this was really a personal experience. It’s a lot harder when you’re on your own, because you really have to write a lot more and trying to remember all the things.
Tumblr media
Finally getting to reveal the cover, while telling Mr. Cree, yes my solo endeavor. Here it is, I hope you likes it, uh.. it's back to front because I got my phone back to front. I promise you the actual book wont be back to front.
Tumblr media
Picture of me on the. front of course, because just to remind you who I am (!) and what I look like…. 😳 This is actually a photo taken on the shores of Loch Lomond. That is where part of the journey took me. Probably the second day you go on the shores of Loch Lomond. If you don’t know the West Highland Way is a walk from pretty much my home in Glasgow, 100 miles up through the highlands, you go pass loch Lomond as you go up Crianlarich go through Glencoe, you go up the Devils Staircase and ultimately you end up at Fort William up in the Highlands of Scotland. It’s a beautiful walk.
Tumblr media
Describing the picture on the cover now, obviously having a wee dram here…. Been writing something, points out there’s a map which I clearly could have used along the walkway. Showing the back, we only just decided on the back. Here's the picture, I took this photo while I was on the walk. That is the West Highland Way. If you look closely enough, this is Glencoe, this is the old military road. You can just see over here (points to a building in the distance), this is the King House Hotel. Actually an interesting base, we filmed OL up here. If you have seen the last season, S6,, the very first flash back. The scene where Jamie is carrying rocks. And you can see the Buachaille Etive Mòr (pointing on the left side of the back cover). But I took this photo just as it got dark, I think on my 3rd day. Pretty exhausted, and actually by the time I got to the hotel I stayed that night (pointing again at the King House Hotel) it was pitch black.
There’s a little excerpt here on the back, he’s reading it to his viewers:
Tumblr media
Far ahead Behind the rolling hills, I see the ghostly traces of the highland mountain ranges, they dare me on. I falter my footsteps slow. It strikes me that my journey is almost over, I don’t want it to end. So given that I’m completely alone, I throw my arms out in celebration and gratitude. “Scotland” I yell, simply because I want to hear my own voice across this great Glenn. The hills echo me back.
Explains it isn’t actually the book he’s showing, but a dummy, cause they don’t actually have the books yet because they’re not being published until October when you can get your hands on it, please pre-order. It’s been such fun, really rewarding, he’s really proud of it, he hopes you like it.
Showing the book, well actually the cover, from all sides, the front, the back the spine. Insert on the inside with his biography and what the book is about as well.
Tumblr media
Asking for questions:
Obviously has a little dram to celebrate, cheers…slainte. He doesn’t recommend to drink and write, he may have done that a little bit.
Q: Will there be an audiobook?
Very good question (of course 🙄), yes indeed… which you can, he thinks pre-order now, and I will read my own words. I will be recording the audiobook quite soon (so hasn’t done it yet!) I may throw in some extra stuff in there while recording. Talking about recording the Clanlands 'when Graham and I had a really good time recording that’ (smiling at the memory…) A lot of things that didn’t quite make the book. It’s gonna take me a few days to record it, it’s a sizable book, obviously not as big as Diana Gabaldon’s books.
Q: Where did the idea come to write about your journey?
Really good question. The west highland way is a walk, journey, that I always wanted to do. As I said it goes almost from my home, it goes right through the lowlands and the highlands of Scotland. And you know, I’ve been to Glencoe, which is part of the walk, so many times, we shot there on OL. Actually the last day of shooting of S6, we were here in Glencoe and I went for a run with one of the other cast members and we ran along the west highland way.for about 40 minutes or something.I remember when I was running I was thinking I must do this sometime. I’m not getting any younger, I need to give this a go. So I decided to do it. However, maybe in winter is not the best time. And actually I only had a week to complete the whole walk, and go up to Ben Nevis and get back to my home to get to Edinburgh and London, because I was at that time promoting the Clanlands book for which we were doing a live evening event. Actually the Edinburgh dates, I just came back from this. It was a pretty mad few weeks, promoting Clanlands but also completing the walk. A lot of fun really rewarding.
Tumblr media
Q: Only in English?
I’m not sure actually. I know Clanlands is doing really well, it’s in a number of other languages, the publishers keep getting up with this. So hopefully, I would love to see this in other languages. But at the moment it is English of course. Keep your eyes peeled, hopefully there will be other languages there as well.
Q: Where do you we go to pre-order?
That’s a very good question. www.waypointsbook.com. I will put the link up in a story soon as I finish this. We deliver on all major book stores. Big distributors as well. You can get them in the US, UK.
Q: Will you do a book tour?
We are definitely looking at dates. I really would love to meet some of you guys to sign some books. So yes, but I can’t tell you where. Obviously we’re still shooting S7 of OL, we are pretty busy on that. Obviously at the moment we’re on a hiatus, but in October we’ll be back at work. So yes, I hope to do a couple of events in the UK and possibly in America as well. So watch this space.
Tumblr media
Please come to Florida! I try. Please come to LA. I will, I will….
Q: Any camping under the stars?
Yes! Yes there was camping under the stars. You learn more about it in the books. Mmmmm…. Yes interesting…. Something I wanted to do, I really wanted to do this (Sirene on the background, that’s the Police, I believe… coming for me). Yes I really wanted to camp under the stars, something that I really enjoy. Uhm, maybe didn’t quite prepare enough, but you learn all about it in the book. Please don’t take this as a guide to do the west highland way, don’t do what I did.
Tumblr media
Q: Are you planning to visit Mexico?
Slightly off topic there, but I am, quite soon actually. So I’m looking forward to that.
Q: Did I invite Graham to camp?
(Laughs) Graham refuses to camp, Graham will never camp. Hence the reason why we are always staying in very fancy hotels and then I have to pay the bill.
But uhm, it was really nice to do this on my own actually. Really great way to reflect. Not only I guess on the journey of walking the west highland way. Seeing the landscape of Scotland. It is beautiful even in the hight of winter. But also to reflect on my career. You know I have been an actor now for a couple of decades. And I feel like it’s been an incredible journey, it’s been a real roller coaster.Especially getting OL, and uhm meeting all you guys, it’s just been really rewarding. This was really an opportunity for me, to also be, I guess, a bit more open about my life, about who I am. How I got here. So yeah, uh… huh it’s tough and I’m nervous about it, cause I hope you guys like it. But yeah… it is my journey I guess, telling how I got to be here.
Tumblr media
Q: Would you come to Belgium?
I love to come to Belgium.
Q: Look forward to see in October in London.
Yes! We do have two dates. I think they have been already announced. Edinburgh, at the McEwan Hall and also there is a live event in London at the Barbican, which we’re doing through Fane. Everyone that attends that in person or online, I believe gets a signed copy. I look forward to see you all there. I’m not quite sure what the actual event is going to be like, we’re still working on that. But I’m hoping we can do a talk through the walk. Maybe show you some slides on the insights into that walk. But also talk about the process of writing the book and take the photo and the whole journey. It really has been a rewarding one, a challenging one, it’s been a lot of work, but very rewarding. So I can’t wait to join me on those two dates. If you haven’t check them out, I think Fane, search on Sam Heughan or Waypoints, you will find the event details there.
Tumblr media
Q: Pictures in the book?
Yes! Great question, thank you. Yes there are pictures. We have two segments, there’ll be a segment from my personal life. Sort of my career, like looking back you know where I started (laughs), maybe some pics of me as a young man, ahem as a boy. Some pictures from my first productions as an actor. And then we have a second section which documents the walk. And see some of the characters I met along the way (looks mysteriously). Yeah, there’s plenty to look at as well. Uhm.. it feels similar in some ways I guess to Clanlands in certain ways. In the way I tried to start each chapter. Each chapter is pretty much a day of the hike of the walk, but also it captionates a certain part or certain chapter in my career. Well, so… it’s cool. It’s been a great deal of work, I’m so pleased. Actually really want to thanks Radar. Briony (red. publisher at Radar Books) thank you so much, thanks veracious because they’ve been very patient in working with someone who is, I guess, a newbe at this. Also kinda busy, it’s been pretty tough when working on OL and also try and fit in time to do this. We got there.
Tumblr media
Q: Any life lessons during the journey?
Plenty! Plenty! Preparation is key. But no you’ll find out. I think again, just reflecting on my journey, my life, my career. I’ve been very fortunate to get this far. There’s hopefully a lot of insights in this book as well. So I hope you’ll enjoy it.
Q: Come to Brasil Comic Con.
I would love to. We love to do a lot, we’d love to, I think we working on to do maybe New York. You’ll hear more, we try to do as much as we can. Also filming at the moment is busy, when we’re not on a hiatus on a holiday, but it’s been pretty intense.
Q: Audiobooks also for long trips in the car
Exactly, just don’t follow my directions.
Q: The hardest hike?
I give you a little insight. Part of it, it isn’t the hardest part of it, but it was an interesting part, was here in Glencoe actually. Up here somewhere, there’s a place called the Devils Staircase. I think they named it that because it is pretty steep, pretty challenging. I can’t remember what day I got there, maybe day 4, day 5. It’s a great wee hike, get’s you quite high up, and you get some amazing views across Glencoe. And then it’s quite a nice descent, I think Kinlochleven. Really nice descent, beautiful views if you got the weather and there are no midgets. So, yes, word of advice.
Tumblr media
Q: Favorite piece of advice in life?
Let me check this book… let’s see… oh yeah I forgot this is a dummy book. Oh well, you have to read it yourself.
Q: What is harder, writing a book or climbing Glencoe?
Well, both at the same time! Cause I did, I tried to take as many notes as possible. Actually the way I did this was with voice notes. I think I recorded over 300 voice notes while hiking. It’s the easiest way, and then you get to transcribe them at home. Did tried to write a little bit as well but everything got very wet. It’s pretty difficult when you’re actually on the hike. And sweat as well and mud, and of course whisky too. So uhm, yeah but voice notes were brilliant and a really great way to go back and reflect. And obviously taking photographs, I took so many photographs. You may have seen on my Waypoints Wednesdays. I tried to include as many Waypoints Wednesdays photo’s without giving away too much. So you can go back to my Instagram and look at them. But the photo’s in here will be ones you haven’t seen before.
Tumblr media
Q: You have a Devils Backbone in Texas.
Oh I should try that.
Q: Has my mom read the book?
She has, she read the book. I do talk about her, I talk about my family a bit in here. Uhm, and yeah, I think it’s uh…it was tough because I’ve always tried to protect them, my family, and uhm… hmmm nnnnot uhm…. I guess… have them…uuuhhh… I don’t know, try to protect them. Because it can be quite uhm… not intrusive but it’s difficult and… and… uh, she was very proud. She’s been very very proud from the beginning. And I’m sure she’ll be asking for lots of signed copies. I keep having to give her copies of Clanlands for her friends. I just wished they’d ordered them but I got to do it. So I’m really proud. She will get the first copy of Waypoints and I will sign it to her. So thank you Chrissie (his mom) because she gave me a great start in life and you’ll find all in here.
Q: Can we buy your book from India?
Oooh, I’ve no idea. You can give it a go. I’ll include the link, waypointsbook.com. I include it in my stories when I save this video. And actually I’ll include this on other social platforms as well. And an interesting side point, I’ll put it on Twitter, but actually gonna doing some TikTok hopefully, working on getting an account for that. So we look forward to seeing you there as well, that’ll be fun, a new adventure.
Q: When are you going to come to Naples?
I’m not sure, I mean when you’re inviting me..
Q: What am I doing in the US?
Uuuhhh… what am I doing in the US? It’s a good question. Well… hopefully revealing the cover of the book. But uhm, yeah I’m off to Mexico pretty soon and then we’ll have to be back in the UK to keep filming S7. So just a very quick summer break.
Q: Did you cook while you hiked, what was the meal?
(Laughs) I did, breakfast was the best part. Porridge, cooked porridge, coffee, maybe a little bit of cinnamon on the porridge, peanut butter, you can’t beat it, you know it’s good.  Did bring up a lot of those meals you can eat up as well, you have to read the book. I don’t want to give away too much because… yeah.. it didn’t go.. it didn’t go quite to plan
Tumblr media
Thanking the viewers, I hope you like it, I give you another close up. Not quite sure what I’m looking at there. Probably the rest of the walk, do I have to really walk this far??? Can I not just sit here and drink a whisky.
Well I did it. And we’ve done it. The book is here. The book will be in your hands very soon. Can’t wait for you guys to read this with me or, indeed listen to the audible as well. Be a lot of fun.
Thank you so much, thank you all for your support. I really appreciate it, I’ve seen all your posts, and your collages and making up your own covers and stuff. I just love that. Have a great Sunday! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday. I’m gonna finish this wee dram, start reading this book.. I know it’s a dummy one… uhm, and enjoy the rest of your weekend! Thank you for tuning in, those in the UK, those in Europe, everywhere else, America, I really can’t thank you enough. I hope you like it.
Tumblr media
Cheers to you guys... bye bye

What’s the point?
..in his book and his comments cause some confusion for a memoir that was supposed to 'tell-all’ This is one of them. It is unclear when and where SH was when she landed the role in Outlander. The story that she was in a London grocery store when she got the part has been told repeatedly, always adding something different, Not a well-told story and imprecise writing is poor writing.
On the 13th, SH auditions for 'Heart of Lightness'. On 26th June, he announced his trip to the Arctic.
Tumblr media
On 05th July: SH started filming 'The Heart of lightness' (Norway).
Tumblr media
He was already in Lofoten since 27th June. On 09th July: He announced that he would perform Diana Gabaldon's novel on the same day as the STARZ announcement.
Tumblr media
Laura Donnelly and Rosie Day spoke about the Outlander news when they were filming 'Heart of Lightness'. I'd like to hear Laura Donnelly and Rosie Day's thoughts on the book. What's the point? Aka Waypoints, Because their impressions showed some differences from what SH says.
On July 26th: Last day of shooting for Sam in 'Heart of Lightness'.
Tumblr media
On July 30th: The filming of 'Heart of Lightness' is officially over, as mentioned on the FB Page of the film.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Did he get the call from his agent about OL at his local supermarket in Muswell Hill? Muswell Hill is a North London suburb, one of London's most expensive suburbs, home to Victorian and Edwardian houses, which of these classic styles did the former bartender choose to live in before OUTL? However, he mentioned in other interviews that he lived in a bad neighborhood, definitely not Muswell Hill. BTW… Little Waitrose in Muswell Hill doesn't have trolleys just baskets, it's a small shop.
The phone call may be real, but if it was when he was in London before he was in Norway, SH already knew about his participation in Outlander in June and not in July when he and Starz announced it, on Tuesday, 9th July because SH was in Norway from Monday, 27th June to 30th July 2013, and did not return to London in that period. Why was Diana Gabaldon interested in SH's Arctic trip in June 2013 if SH's involvement in Outlander hadn't been revealed yet? Something is not quite right with SH's frequent changes.

Waypoints, Take 2: POV Shipper
It's been touted and mentioned at length. It has been awaited with immoderate, naïve anticipation. It has been read highlighter in hand, in the hope to discern its true meaning and purpose. It also was the last straw for some people, pushing them out of the fandom when above anticipation and expectations proved somewhat hollow.
To the dismayed and the heartbroken, I say: I hope you do realize this is a) heavily edited and b) published with the substantial contribution of a ghostwriter, handsomely paid to neatly round off the edges and fit this travelogue-cum-memoir in a pre-shaped pitch.
This bloke:
Tumblr media
The dilligent Matt Whyman, novelist. Agony uncle for several UK press and online outlets, specialized in teenage love and relationships' counselling. British Council executive, with several stints abroad under his belt. Part and parcel of a number of public health awareness campaigns sponsored by the UK Government, with a special interest for above teenage love, sexuality and relationships. And established, top-tier ghostwriter.
Among others, on behalf of Billy Connoly, the "Big Yin" himself, proof that the Scottish mafia is discreet, but by no means inexistent (an excellent thing). Ah, Sir Billy Connoly and his New-Zealander wife, Lady Pamela Stephenson, whom he met in 1979, while filming together a sketch for BBC2's Not the Nine O'Clock News. Chemistry took care of itself, because she ditched her recently married husband and moved in with Connoly in 1981. Both (at least nominally: Connoly considers himself an atheist, nowadays) Roman-Catholic and married at the time of getting together, Stephenson divorced in 1984 and Connoly in 1985 from their respective partners and live in marital bliss since 1989. For some reason, I think these tidbits are important, go figure.
Sidenote: if you haven't already, watch (if still available on Netflix, otherwise I implore you to look for it on other platforms) an exceptional French series, Call My Agent. You will not only love the humor, you will educate yourself with the basic ropes of celeb PR.
At face value, I couldn't think of a more appropriate consigliere to deal with the brief that (spare the failed Everest movie project) prompted this book. It is not that difficult to figure out:
Evoke at length the past to offer a modicum of explanation of the present. Mention traumatic relationship with father to explain fear of commitment in a solid, steady relationship.
In the process, pay lip service to the Narrative, but take substantial liberty and a daring stand when discussing the horrific Wentworth episode-that-nobody-could-watch. Express controlled discontent towards TPTB, to have the upper hand while negotiating a possible season 8 (fun fact, it worked)
Conveniently send into oblivion Flukenzie Floozy, Quarantein Hooter's Madonna and any other two letter combo born from the hyperactive imagination of the Queen of Nothing, while respecting ToS of bachelorhood - it's still good for the Sales Department.
Camouflage reality of S&C entity, under a London Blitz-worthy blanket of smoke & mirrors, but allow leaks that could easily pass for creative license or babble. Shippers will get it. Dots will connect, coins will drop. We shall overcome.
Simultaneously, offer a plausible explanation for the above UFO co-star/bro-sis/Ginger Jesus- Mother Mary relationship, primarily to comfort and control Mordor, that Troll Nursery. Say what the hell you want, including something along the lines of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, but say it LOUDER FOR THOSE SHIPPER PEOPLE IN THE BACK OF THE COACH. They are used to this one step forward/one slap backward tango and by now, few (if any) will budge elsewhere on the fandom spectrum.
Discreetly crush homosexuality rumors, because they are borderline calumny, at this point in time. However, the Data Lounge crowd could make Mordor look like Bora Bora, so the sooner they get bored and move to the next babyface, the better.
Substantially promote MPC and Great Glen Company, consolidating the image of the giving, thoughtful individual, with a creative mind and savvy enough to branch out in lucrative business projects. Extend fan/consumer/client base to a younger demographic.
Pave the way for exit plan. This report will not discuss it, but hints may have been detected. :)
Wow. This is a mouthful. And I have to say Mr. Whyman did a more than decent job of it, even if for a trained eye the seams are showing, at times.
Like this:
Tumblr media
Frazer. You can't make this shit up. This is SRH.
As compared to this (excuse the repetition: the blogger is not lazy - the blogger tries to make a point):
Tumblr media
This is Whyman. This has been probably paid extra for. This is painful to read. This failed.
As for leaks, I've found a good handful. Adding all of them here higgledy-piggledy would be tedious, boring and I am not Miss Marple. But I've noticed that feelings hide in plain sight, usually disguised in a song you whistle or some verse you remember, just to keep you company on the road, a propos of nothing (my foot):
Tumblr media
I don't know what this woman is talking about, you might say. Whatevs. How about this:
Tumblr media
To keep myself sane, I usually rip off a Twix bar or light up a Benson. Others resort to Shakespeare, in lieu of granola bars. The world is a wonderfully diverse place. LOL, don't mind me. I am a dillusional woman, for whom all hope is lost.
Sometimes, this whole pastoral reverie has a Lewis Carroll charm to it (you might want to open this in another tab):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Who is your queen, Sir? Surely not the cheerful woman in leggings, flats and a Playboy T-shirt, huh?
Maybe the key is this childish botanical pun, tucked away at the end of the book:
Tumblr media
Knowing that the P in Psillyosam is silent, as in *urv the Psychologist, we read and we grin:
[P]sillyosam Mushroom. Silly O'Sam. Silly, oh Sam.
Hashtag silly. An apt response to lemon and hugs.
To sum it up on a cheerful note, Waypoints is the 4 S book:
Struggles - Success - (fake) Solitude - (with a clear optic to avoid at all costs) Scandal
I thank you for your time while reading this. I hope it was worth it and yes, I confidently rest my case. Until the next memoir, which I reasonably hope would be vastly different.

Read Jim McDermott's Sam ass kissing from the NYCC stage. It's nauseating.
====================
Yesterday evening Outlander star Sam Heughan sat down with hundreds of women and a few dozen men for an intimate Q&A. Dubbed 'Calling all Sassenachs,' the event was part of “the first time in NYCC history” Sam Heughan Meet & Greet packages, in which would be lassies could spend upwards of $1500 to get a a 25 minute small group meet & greet session with Heughan, including a selfie, an autograph and a group photo with him, followed by front row seating at the evening Q&A and priority seating at today’s “Sunday Morning Tea with two Highlanders and a Lord,” which features Heughan and other Outlander stars talking with Outlander author Diana Gabaldon. (Other tier packages dubbed “Brown-Haired Lass” and the “Sorcha” offered slightly less, like just an autograph, a one-day pass instead of a four day, and slightly more distant seating, for $200-$400.)
Based on the number and three-glasses-of-pinot-into-tonight's-book-club energy of those in attendance, Heughan had definitely had a very full day. He emerged from backstage with a certain humorously shocked (and exhausted) quality, and spent the event flopped in a comfy chair fielding questions which had been submitted from Sassenach-tier attendees. Inquires ranged from the nurturing— “What’s your favorite memory from childhood?"; “What are you most proud of?”—to the naughty: “How did you come up with the Jamie Fraser dismount?” to which his moderator and protector Steve tartly added, “From a horse, that is.” The range seemed to capture the two speeds that Jamie fans come in: they either want to mother him or they want him to do things to them that would make their mothers blush.
The event was regularly punctuated by whooing, cackling and comments shouted out. After being asked whether he was a cat person or a dog person—he replied a cat person, to self-affirming SCREAMS from the audience—he wondered if anyone had any weird pets. Someone yelled “Husband.” That pretty much captures the vibe.
As the night went on, I noted a certain mysterious quality to Heughan. He was charming, of course, but always in a slightly restrained or cautious way. Never once did he play into the "Sam-tasies" into which he was clearly being invited. When things approached the raunchy, as when someone brought up a play he had been in that The Daily Telegraph named as having one of the five best sex scenes ever, Heughan would simply say “Oh dear.” And while he was dressed stylishly, in a deep blue coat with a white tee and jeans, the jeans were not too tight, the blue of the coat was not a shade that would make his eyes pop. And his short-cropped hair, while perhaps slightly boyish in style, accentuated his cheek bones and forehead in a way that made him look worn.
But then he’d turn for a moment toward the camera that was broadcasting his face on two massive screens on either side of the stage, and the impact was still overwhelming, like seeing the sun for the first time, or standing before God at the Pearly Gates and finding in his eyes complete and total acceptance. When the event began, I wondered at the women all around me who had their phones up recording the screens. It only took a couple momentary glances like that to understand.
At one point near the end of the show eight or nine women (and one man) were called on stage to read to Heughan parts of his new memoir Waypoint—yes, that was as weird as it sounds. And while each person read Heughan listened, looking directly at them, and even though the readers weren’t looking back, the chemistry was still insane. Once again, Heughan wasn’t even trying to create a moment. He was just being polite.
It all made me wonder at whether his general demeanor of cautious warmth wasn’t much more than the end of a long day spent being nice to fans. Heughan stood before us playing Clark Kent, except he was hiding his true power not out of any sense of humility but because he’s afraid if he reveals it, it will drive us insane and him out a window. He is his own kryptonite, or maybe his own Lex Luthor, and God, that must be exhausting.
At one point in the evening Heughan was asked the question, “What is one thing you would never do again?” As with other questions that did not have an immediate link back to his memoir, he just sat there speechless for a moment, baffled and probably brain fried. (The evening was clearly designed as a shadow book launch; Heughan was even able to turn the question/personal fantasy “If you were to dress up for Halloween, who would you be?” back to his memoir.)
After a long pause, Heughan looked over his shoulder to Steve and gave a one-word answer out of earshot. And if that answer wasn’t “This,” I will eat the autographed copy of his book which I bought after the show.

Hmmm mixed feelings to be honest... let's analyze this (a bit).
A summery of the prices people paid, especially for the 25(!) minutes of breathing air in the same room
He emerged from backstage with a certain humorously shocked (and exhausted) quality
You can read that in 2 different ways....
Don't know how 'naughty' the dismount is, but he most certainly needs to add to the forbidden list of questions the "Cats or dogs" one next to the what's under the kilt one, that wasn't asked to my relief.
I liked this observation though:
The range seemed to capture the two speeds that Jamie fans come in: they either want to mother him or they want him to do things to them that would make their mothers blush.
Quite adequate! Notice though the'Jamie' fans, not the Sam fans! I think the Sam fans wants to mother him while the Jamie fans wants the second option 🙈
And then:
And while he was dressed stylishly, in a deep blue coat with a white tee and jeans, the jeans were not too tight, the blue of the coat was not a shade that would make his eyes pop
I don't know what is particularly 'stylish' about a white T and a baggy jeans. But okay, I liked the jacket. (btw. he was asked how many jackets he had and where he kept them.... he answered "enough" and that he had to buy a new house to store them)
But this.... was .... ugh
like seeing the sun for the first time, or standing before God at the Pearly Gates and finding in his eyes complete and total acceptance.
Goodness gracious, how did he get that out of his keyboard! This is the kind of OTT that turns people rather off than attracts them (imho)
as well as this
And while each person read Heughan listened, looking directly at them, and even though the readers weren’t looking back, the chemistry was still insane
But I think I covered that in a post earlier today.... 🧑‍🎄
And I'm not so sure what to think of this
Heughan stood before us playing Clark Kent, except he was hiding his true power not out of any sense of humility but because he’s afraid if he reveals it, it will drive us insane and him out a window. He is his own kryptonite, or maybe his own Lex Luthor, and God, that must be exhausting.
I don't think however that it would drive any of us insane, but can't speak for the ones in the audience of course! And 'true power' 🤔
The last part of the article though made me grin...
Heughan was asked the question, “What is one thing you would never do again?” As with other questions that did not have an immediate link back to his memoir, he just sat there speechless for a moment, baffled and probably brain fried. (The evening was clearly designed as a shadow book launch; Heughan was even able to turn the question/personal fantasy “If you were to dress up for Halloween, who would you be?” back to his memoir.)
A shadow book launch for sure... and for the answer on the thing he would never do again...
After a long pause, Heughan looked over his shoulder to Steve and gave a one-word answer out of earshot. And if that answer wasn’t “This,” I will eat the autographed copy of his book which I bought after the show.
I don't think Jim needs to eat the autographed copy he bought.... 🤐
So to wrap it up, at points nauseating but I wonder how much sarcasm Jim included here! 🤭
