Patti Smith arrived in New York on July 3, 1967, via the decidedly un-scenic Port Authority Bus Terminal (625 8th Ave.), where she immediately transferred to the subway and headed for Brooklyn. She hoped to connect with a friend who was enrolled at the nearby Pratt Institute, an Engineering and Arts college in Clinton Hill. Unfortunately, it was summer break and her friend had moved to a new apartment. One of the current residents knew where her friend could be found, though, and offered to direct her there. This would be her first fleeting encounter with Robert Mapplethorpe, a young Pratt art student, and the man who would ultimately become her closest companion for the next few years. Alas, her friend was not at the said address, so Patti would sleep rough for the next several days, on porches, and in Central Park close to the statue of Alice in Wonderland.
Like many young newcomers, she would wander the streets of Greenwich Village and spend hours observing the people in Washington Square Park, an active gathering place for artists, folkies, activists, and people of every stripe imaginable. She explored St. Marks Place and the East Village, then a fairly ragged but colorful neighborhood of immigrants, hippies, artists, and the poor, always dragging her plaid suitcase along with her. One day she and a street friend found a little money and treated themselves to a hot meal at the Waverly Diner (385 6th Ave.), but otherwise she ate day-old bread and handouts. The rest of the time she was desperately looking for work, and after a disastrous single shift waiting tables at a Times Square restaurant, she found work at the midtown flagship location of Brentano’s (586 5th Ave.), a venerable bookstore near Rockefeller Center. She still had no place to stay, though, and often surreptitiously slept in the store overnight, only to emerge from the bathroom in the morning as the others readied the store. One day she ran into Mapplethorpe again in the bookstore. He, coincidentally, worked at the downtown branch of Brentano’s (20 University Pl.) in the Village. Not long afterwards, in the midst of an uncomfortable date with an older bookstore patron, Patti spotted Mapplethorpe in Tompkins Square Park, where he happily rescued her by posing as her boyfriend. The two shared an egg cream at Gem Spa (131 2nd Ave.) while commiserating. The pair would become inseparable. He brought her to stay at his place, an attic room in the home of some friends on Waverly Avenue in Brooklyn. After several weeks, the two had enough money saved for their own place nearby at 160 Hall St. on the second floor for $80 per month. This would become their headquarters for well over a year.
By winter, both Patti and Robert had lost their jobs at Brentano’s but found seasonal employment at FAO Schwarz (745 5th Ave.), the gigantic toy shop. Robert decorated windows, but Patti was stuck at the cash register. Afterward, she worked briefly at Argosy Books (116 E. 59th St.) before settling at Scribner’s Book Store (597 5th Ave.). Scribner’s would be her steady job for the next couple of years. Robert, meanwhile, went through a succession of jobs, one of which was as an usher at the Fillmore East (105 2nd Ave.), where he was able to get Patti in to see the Doors. Jim Morrison was to have a lasting influence on her...

Chris Coppola. Chris Coppola’s film career started in 1997 with a small part in the John Leguizamo film, Spawn. Throughout the 2010s Chris appeared, usually in comedic roles, in many films most people have never heard of, but he did play significant roles in most of them. He also guest starred in TV series and did a lot of voice work in animated features.

Notes:
I would prefer some serious questions every now and then, no hugs either cuz that kinda slightly counts as free fanart to me and I don’t have time for that stuff… however you can do sillyness too!!
Mary (she/her) is also available for asks I just forgot to add her to the bunch🤷‍♂️. Her husband Joesph is too, when they answer it will be to the time they were alive.
Certain asks, especially if specified will be in the future.
Example of one I’ve answered already like when I first got it:
“Felix why did you forgive Dylan😱”
I made this one be in the future because that event didnt happen yet.
There can be NSFW jokes but like,, no straight up dirtyness like most of my characters are minors so adult humour is aloud but like no… yknow i already said it above.
You can ask questions to me to but you have to say like ‘To you’ or ‘To creator’ or ‘To author’ etc. (Canonically Xavier has more of my personality like a self insert kind of thing, but he won’t know about the lore or nothing so don’t ask him that stuff)
You can about their sexualities and stuff, since I cant find a way to make it look good in the list😭
Families:
Calvin, Oscar and Philip are the children of Chloe Victor. Oscar and Philip are adopted. Their father is not in their life.
Laurence and Luna are brother and sister, the children of Beaux (orginally known as Waverly) and Roselyn (orginally known as Xin). Their parents are deceased. Florence is a fragment of certain memories from Laurence.
Hunter and Xavier are twins, Hunter is an hour older. The two have an older brother Milo, who is in his 20’s and a younger brother Alexander who is 6. They have parents that love and care for them, but they have no further character.
Felix has an older brother, Chester and two older sisters, Amelia and Alice who are also twins. Their mother is Mary and the father is Joesph. Felix and Chester are the only living family. Felix sees Humphery and Gladwin as his ‘gaurdians’ now and he’s been adopted by them, they do not call themselves parents as they consider that as being in a relationship together and they are not. Lelix is a fragment of certain memories from Felix.
Zayn is the son of Zander, the mother has passed away. Zayn is also an only child, but would like to have a son or daughter in the near future; perhaps by adoption.
Jestle’s family is deceased.
Relationships
Calvin and Tyler are childhood friends, together they found Laurence in 2012. Calvin and Laurence clicked while day by day Tyler got excluded. They are all still friends, Tyler is firm on not telling them he feels left out.
Calvin has a crush on Laurence despite strongly believing he doesn’t like men. He thinks its friendship he feels but deep inside, he wants love. Laurence gets frustrated with Calvin not being self aware, but still adores the man for his dumb things, cute things, many things.
Felix and Tyler began to date in 2018, just before the main story begins. The two love eachother dearly and are the sweetest, lovey-dovey pair.
Laurence and Tyler have an odd friendship, Laurence will often interupt Tyler with a ‘Shh!’ but will talk to him after school (…sometimes) but he does care for Tyler. Tyler thinks Laurence hates him, so he tries so keep him happy.
Chester and Ron’s relationship isn’t really shown, but they met once time travelled and began to date about a month later. They’re very respectful to each other and always make sure they both have equal attention. They’ve tried poly’s before but most of the time the other person favours one and gives the other less attention, so they’ve stopped doing poly relationships all together.
Chester and Felix’s relationship really depends on the time. At first when they were kids they were loving brothers who would always play together, then Mary stabbed Chester and Felix witnessed it, he was confident that his brother was dead as he ran away. Void came and took away his memories of the event (so basically he only knows his brother is dead and his mother is bad but that is all he knows.) it made his earlier memories a little fuzzier too but they are still there. He runs into the sirs, blah blah blah, Chester later comes to the castle Felix is at then hides in the basement for a while. His mom comes in, Chester tries to hypnotize her with his magic but she pulls out a mirror, making his hypnosis bounce back at him. (If you read the backstory on wattpad this is much easier to understand). By the time Felix is 14 and Chester is 23 the main events play. At this point Chester keeps claiming he’s Felix’s brother but he’s acting so unlike himself that Felix doesn’t believe him (he also thinks he’s dead too) and every time Chester claims it the more frustrated Felix gets with it. Later Chester is put into a cellar after he kills his mother and he visits him sometimes as the hypnosis has went off of him at that point and eventually the two reconcile and realize they are brothers and have an emotional scene together. Once theyre time travelled Felix lives with the sirs, but goes to Chester’s house often after school.
Felix and the Sirs are also a complicated trio, Felix looks up to both of them and sees Humphery as more like a father figure while he’s more scared of Gladwin. Gladwin really hates Felix but… has his moments. Very rare ones though. While Humphery and Felix have more of a connection, Humphery understands Felix and is more willing to believe him when it comes down to things, though he’s more caring he somewhat tried to hide it but it’s easier to get him to break or to get him to care. He finds Felix somewhat annoying but y’know… who doesn’t (/j).
Thats all the relationships I’ll be doing, its like a lot of writing sorry gamers.

The Joy Luck Club (1993)
Like Flower Drum Song (1961) before it and Crazy Rich Asians (2018) after it, The Joy Luck Club – based on Amy Tan’s 1989 novel of the same name, with a screenplay by Tan and Ronald Bass – was the first film to star a mostly Asian-American or East Asian-American cast in a generation. Its ensemble cast includes veterans who were a part of the end of Old Hollywood and newcomers who became, in their own ways, the standard bearers for Asian-American representation through the beginning of the current century. No small distinction – and something I do not wish on any individual to bear. In a strange twist of fate, Wayne Wang’s The Joy Luck Club was the first major studio American movie to make its theatrical debut within my lifetime*. For reasons that are selfish and have to do entirely with this now-nine-year-old blog’s focus on classic movies and contextualizing movies whenever or wherever they come from, that distinction seems fitting.
The Joy Luck Club retains much of its literary soul, and that is thanks to the partnership between Tan, Wang, and Bass. Bass, fresh off his screenwriting Academy Award win for Rain Man (1988), believed – unlike numerous Hollywood executives – that the particular structure of the novel could stay mostly intact, nevertheless requiring some sort of framing device to anchor the proceedings. The co-writers and Wang agreed to inject numerous voice-over narrations, something that could be off-putting in narrative art. These narrations, when they appear, usually are bereft of any semblance of exposition, instead providing glimpses into the feelings and mentality of the characters involved and saving long stretches of dialogue in the process. Though yours truly more often than not has trouble with narration in cinema, the narration here is too essential to the final product. With screenplay in hand, as the filmmakers pitched the project across Hollywood’s major studios, they found few takers. Eventually, interest and funding would come from Walt Disney Studios' now-defunct Hollywood Pictures and a (kept) promise of zero executive intervention from Disney chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg. Tan, who had been hesitant to make too many compromises in adapting The Joy Luck Club as a movie, found the creative process in filmmaking much less painful than she anticipated.
The Joy Luck Club is a mahjong club founded by four Chinese-American women who came to settle in San Francisco. In the order of when their flashbacks appear in this film: Lindo Jong (Tsai Chin), Ying-Ying St. Clair (France Nuyen), An-Mei Hsu (Lisa Lu), and Suyuan Woo (Kiều Chinh). Our entry into the events of the film is near the end, four months after Suyuan’s death at a farewell surprise party to celebrate her daughter, June (Ming-Na Wen). June is shortly about to travel to mainland China to meet her long-lost twin sisters for the first time, but not without – during quieter moments of the party – some reminiscing from herself, the other members of the Joy Luck Club, and their daughters. The Joy Luck Club then divides itself into four thematically connected, but narratively distinct, sections: Lindo and daughter Waverly (Tamlyn Tomita), Ying-Ying and daughter Lena (Lauren Tom), An-Mei and daughter Rose (Rosalind Chao), and the late Suyuan and June. These four sections are tales of spousal love and abuse, generational differences and intergenerational trauma, being Chinese in the United States, and the perceptions of intention between mothers and daughters.
An enormous ensemble cast surrounds the cast of mothers and daughters: Victor Wong as piano teacher Old Chong; Xi Meijuan as Lindo’s mother; Lucille Soong as An-Mei’s mother; Christopher Rich as Rich, Waverly’s husband; Russell Wong as Lin Xiao, Ying-Ying’s husband; Michael Paul Chan as Harold, Lena’s husband; Vivian Wu as An-Mei’s mother; and Andrew McCarthy as Ted, Rose’s husband.
As a deliberately-paced melodrama (my use of “melodrama” here has no negative connotations, only to invoke the most emotionally affecting Hollywood melodramas of the 1930s and ‘40s ) spread over 139 minutes, each of the four sections feels fully formed and structured. No one quarter of the film overwhelms the other, nor does one part feel noticeably inferior to the other three. They flow, in a minor miracle, seamlessly into the next. Again, credit must be placed with Wang, Tan, and Bass on the process they eventually came up with to steer all of their artistic decisions. According to Amy Tan in her memoir Where the Past Begins: A Writer’s Memoir, she writes:
I was the arbiter of character questions… whether a scene seemed true to the heart and soul of what I felt about the characters as I knew them. Ron's hobbyhorse was overall structure and emotional truth... Wayne, we realized, had to be the final arbiter on everything, because he was, after all, the director, and had to feel that everything was as he wanted to see it on the screen.
For The Joy Luck Club, this means showcasing the novel’s emotional unrest on-screen. In the novel, the love between mother and child wafts between emotional intimacy and psychological hostilities. At times, in the novel and in this film, these two aspects are indistinguishable. This tug-of-war of parent-child love – with tension and tenderness juxtaposed closely and often – is a cultural conflict necessitating some kind of resolution (and not always achieving that). Though it appears in Tan’s novel and this film with a distinctly Chinese approach, many, but not all, facets of these relationships appear across differing ethnicities of Asian descent. The central tensions of The Joy Luck Club stem from the mothers’ stories of relations in a traditional Chinese family, far away from the more direct expressions of emotion found in American culture, almost frozen in the early twentieth century; it, too, originates from the daughters’ confusion of being and inhabiting a hyphenated existence in America.
That very American need for encouragement and obvious displays of unconditional love is antithetical to what the original members of the Joy Luck Club experienced in their childhoods and young adult years. Simultaneously, the daughters of the Joy Luck Club internalize more of their mothers’ personalities than they realize. How the actors on-screen is subtle, demanding repeat viewings of certain scenes to fully appreciate the outstanding performances from not only the main cast members (it is a particularly Hollywood-specific problem that Asian-American or Asian actors are so often seen in terms of an ensemble performance rather than as individually excellent, but I struggle to identify any one actress that gave a performance that stands above the rest), but various supporting actors and the numerous child actors in the film’s flashbacks. One can take a number of scenes that exemplify the novel’s and the movie’s central themes: Lindo’s silent scowl when a young Waverly decries her mother supposedly forcing her to play chess; parallels drawn between the failed marriages of a parent and the deteriorating marriage of their daughters; and the distant, attentive camera (cinematography by Amir Mokri of Wang’s 1989 film Eat a Bowl of Tea and two Transformers movies) and the relative lack of sound at the moment of two child deaths. You could pick any number of scenes from the framing device or any of the four sections that absorb not only Chinese-American or Asian-American pride, but the indignity that young Asian-Americans feel towards their parents and the twinges of shame of knowing you are Asian in America.
In the immediate aftermath of its release, these themes proved powerful in the moment. Thus, The Joy Luck Club became, to some extent, more of an emotional spectacle than a movie. Wang is so dedicated in retaining the integrity of the text that his direction is too straightforward at times, allowing the book’s themes to overpower his stylistic flourishes (certain decisions, such as a slow-motion vase-breaking scene, date the film squarely in the 1990s), occasionally plunging into heavy-handed messaging instead of trusting the audience to piece together their own interpretations. The emotional rawness in The Joy Luck Club became amplified by the film’s supporters and its detractors, in part due to its billing as the first film with an almost entirely Asian-American cast since Flower Drum Song. So when Hollywood’s major studios decided that it should take another twenty-five years for another film starring a majority Asian-American cast, the burden of representation fell, unfairly, on this film. Its centralization of women to its narrative should have been a point of praise – fifty of the sixty speaking roles are women – but, in time, casually misogynistic attitudes labeled this movie what in previous decades would be known as a “weepie” or a “woman’s picture”. Tan’s text is rife with, to put it mildly, secondhand embarrassments; Wang’s staging of these scenes make these moments rawer in their visualizations. For some Asian-Americans of a certain age, these tense moments became a point of ridicule, a somewhat exaggerated depiction of how their family relations might look like. Moreso than after Flower Drum Song, a revulsion towards American media stereotypically depicting Asian-Americans through the prisms of familial or generational relations.
This sort of backlash within underrepresented minorities towards people or films purporting to represent them has been present throughout American movie history, exacerbated due to chronic underrepresentation or poor representation. Singer/dancer/actress Carmen Miranda (1940’s Down Argentine Way, 1943’s The Gang’s All Here), so often bedecked in tropical fruits in her musical films while under contract at 20th Century Fox, was initially a source of pride in her native Brazil for her Hollywood features. But, over time, as she became more popular abroad than in her home country for popularizing samba music, criticisms came Miranda’s way for exotifying Brazil and Latin America at large. Specifically to the United States, the likes of Sidney Poitier, Hattie McDaniel, Juano Hernandez, Louise Beavers, and others were all criticized at some point for playing Uncle Toms, mammy characters, or joyous singing black people. Nancy Kwan, who appeared in Flower Drum Song, was slated to star as one of the mothers in The Joy Luck Club. After the filmmakers denied her request to expunge a line that deemed The World of Suzie Wong (1960; Kwan’s cinematic debut and a role she remains honored to be associated with to this day) a “horrible” and “racist” movie, she declined the role‡. In time, these fires cool, but they do not completely abate. As it has been for The Joy Luck Club.
The film will mostly satiate those who read the book; for those who have not, go into your viewing ready to give your full attention and lower your emotive drawbridges. Such as Flower Drum Song years before, it would take decades to make clearer the legacy of The Joy Luck Club – immediately, it was a torch-passing between Asian-American actresses who began their career at the end of Hollywood’s Golden Age to those who ushered in the twenty-first century. It is a history not conclusively written yet (and will not be for as long as its younger cast members remain active in the industry). Of its main cast, the actresses who played the daughters, with the notable exception of Ming-Na Wen, have had limited mainstream roles though rather consistent work in the years since the film’s release. Now, as is Flower Drum Song, The Joy Luck Club is part of the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry as part of its class of 2020.
In the years following The Joy Luck Club, Wayne Wang went on to direct Smoke (1995; his most critically acclaimed film other than The Joy Luck Club) and Because of Winn-Dixie (2005). It has been a diverse career for the Hong Kong-American director named after John Wayne (his father’s favorite actor), but there have been notable obstacles. As he related in a New York Times article in 2018: “‘I would always say, ‘I know this character wasn’t written for an Asian, but why can’t we take a good Asian actor or actress and put them in that role?... and that would always be a fight that I couldn’t win.’”
With the likes of Minari (2020), Raya and the Last Dragon (2021) and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021) all following Crazy Rich Asians, there is considerable hope in the near-future that no American movie or cast ever again has to shoulder the weight of expectations that those working on Flower Drum Song and The Joy Luck Club bore, with echoes emanating even from the silent era. Throughout, The Joy Luck Club is conscious, though not self-conscious, of that history. As any film centering on time’s fickleness, displacement, and unspoken love should be.
My rating: 8.5/10
^ Based on my personal imdb rating. My interpretation of that ratings system can be found in the “Ratings system” page on my blog (as of July 1, 2020, tumblr is not permitting certain posts with links to appear on tag pages, so I cannot provide the URL).
For more of my reviews tagged “My Movie Odyssey”, check out the tag of the same name on my blog.
* There are a few movies that are closer to my date and time of birth, but they occurred before I was born.
‡ This writer has not yet seen The World of Suzie Wong, so no judgments will be passed on that movie (yet). This passage is here to illustrate that the production of The Joy Luck Club itself was not immune to these inter-community frustrations found in American cinema.

New York City: Cop killer Jalil Abdul Muntaqim to be released from prison prior to elections
To add insult to injury, the cop-killer was granted release on the anniversary of the 9/11 jihad attacks in NYC. Muntaqim is/was a member of the NAACP, Black Panther Party and it’s armed militant wing, the Black Liberation Army.
It’s not clear what groups the Musilm is now a member of, however Muslim groups and mosques have been fighting the “Sheikh” Jalil Abdul Muntaqim’s release for years.

Killer of 2 NYPD officers, one from LI, to be released from prison
Cop-killer Anthony Bottom, the last of three Black Liberation Army members still in prison for the 1971 murder of two NYPD officers in Harlem, is slated for parole next month, possibly sooner, despite the pleas of the PBA and the Long Island widow of one of the slain officers.
Bottom, 68, now known as Jalil Abdul Muntaqim, appeared before the state Board of Parole on Sept. 11, and was granted an open date of release of Oct. 20 — or earlier.
Authorities said Bottom, Herman Bell and Albert (Nuh) Washington ambushed NYPD officers Joseph Piagentini and Waverly Jones in the Colonial Park Houses — now the Rangel Houses — in Harlem on May 21, 1971. The PBA, in a statement Wednesday, said that although Jones died instantly, Piagentini pleaded for his life, "invoking his wife and two daughters," only to have Bell empty "two guns into the already seriously wounded officer."
Piagentini died en route to the hospital.
In a statement released Wednesday, Piagentini's widow, Diane Piagentini, of Deer Park, said: "We are heartbroken to see another of Joe's killers set free by politics. But more than anything else, we are angry."

Bottom, Bell and Washington were each convicted of two counts of first-degree murder and sentenced to 25 years to life, the maximum sentence allowable at the time in New York.
Washington died in prison in 2000. Bell, who also pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the August 1971 killing of Sgt. John Young in San Francisco, was denied parole in New York seven times before being granted his release in April 2018.
Bottom was denied parole 12 times.
Earlier this year, Bottom had sought parole after it was reported he may have contracted COVID-19. New York Attorney General Letitia James challenged a public health release — and records show that on June 4 the Appellate Court ruled against releasing Bottom, stating "This, as petitioner failed to demonstrate the illegality of Muntaqim's confinement, Supreme Court should have dismissed the petition."
A joint statement from the Release Aging People in Prison Campaign, Parole Preparation Project, Brooklyn Defenders Services and The Legal Aid Society supported the Parole Board's decision to release Bottom.
"We support the Parole Board’s decisions to release incarcerated older people who have served decades in prison and pose no risk to public safety. The purpose of parole is to evaluate people for release based on who they are today, not to extend sentences into perpetuity. This and other recent decisions the Parole Board has made based on those principles are the right ones," the statement said.
But PBA president Patrick J. Lynch on Wednesday accused the Cuomo administration and the state Legislature of playing politics by changing state law and parole board rules, therefore making it "easier for violent criminals to challenge parole denials."
Records show that after his previous denial by the parole board, Bottom was not eligible for another appearance before the board until March 2021.
But a judge ruled revisions to parole board guidelines meant Bottom was eligible for a new hearing, which he got on Sept. 11.

She was also my inspiration about my illness because even though she became very ill, her fight continued, she continued to make many people happy and inspired. I also admire her because even though her relastionship was ups and downs, she never stopped or gave up. I love Selena because she has a heart to help others, she have many organizations and advocacies for children, women, for health and mental health, and so on. And she supports the LGBT community and the BLM community. Selena is also one of the reasons why I see my worth as a woman and I learned to appreciate my body. And she taught me that I should know my stand and rights as a woman. She taught me to be Rare. Selena is also one of my inspirations to continue to fulfill my dreams no matter what happens and no matter how difficult it is, because like her, she did not stop and she did not lose hope to fulfill her dreams. I am so proud of her and I will love her forever.

PLaystation 5 Event
initially great, despite the horrible pre-orders ordeal.
On Sept. 16, 2020, Sony pulled back the curtain on another slew of details regarding the PS5.
1.       The PlayStation 5 releases on November 12th, 2020 in Japan, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, and the United States (why these states, only Sony knows even though I think it’s because of their distinct market in each of these countries).
2.       The PlayStation 5 releases everywhere else on November 19, 2020.
3.       The PlayStation 5 launches at $399.99 for the digital edition and $499.99 for the disc-based edition.
*IF backward compatibility with the PS4 is important to you, I’d recommend the disc-based PS5. Sony execs have confirmed 99% of PS4 games are compatible with their new Flagship console.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The event also gave us a look into some new games coming to the PS5 for launch as well as games we can expect during the first year of the PlayStation 5’s life cycle. Honestly tho, I think some of those games indicating they were launching during 2021 is a lie. You mean to tell me you’re going to launch Horizon, God of War 2, Final Fantasy 16 all in one year…..really… If these games were dique going to launch in 2021, you would think they would have had at least a working demo or something, instead of a teaser trailer with the games logo…but I digress, I’ll touch on this later.
Below are a few games showed that caught my eye and I just had to write about them.
Overall, Sony’s PS5 presentation was a good one, with all the information we as consumers were asking for since June and 10/10 would watch again (I’ve seen the presentation 4 times already (twice to write this piece 😊)).
The presentations started with a trailer showing a slew of different games coming to the PlayStation five system, most games we covered in https://migstheruler.com/post/620830163010240512/ps5-reveal-event but just when you thought this was another trailer, boom!!!
Final Fantasy 16
A nice mix of old and new: as if the folks from Final Fantasy 11 and 12 made a 15 esque type game.
Tumblr media
Shiva the ice goddess is back, and looking deadlier than ever throwing out chilly ice crystals sure to cause anyone level seven frostbite
Who´s a good boy? This little pup looks ready to be pet and given treats.
Tumblr media
It looks like our trusty steeds the Chocobos are back, hopefully, they are more useful this time around )I’m looking at you final fantasy seven episode one)
Tumblr media
Marlboros are looking as menacing as ever.
Tumblr media
Final Fantasy 16 was pretty unexpected to be honest, especially given final fantasy seven episodes one releasing a few months ago. However, it’s a nice surprise to see Square Soft jk Square Enix working on a new Final Fantasy game, especially one that likes to expand upon the action RPG elements (Think kingdom hearts series or final fantasy 15 and even 7).  Aesthetically, this is giving me hardcore fantasy elements with realism thrown in there.
Tumblr media
Either way, what a great way to start off the presentation.
  Spiderman Miles Morales:
Next up, Sony gives us a seven-minute look into Spiderman Miles Morales, which expands upon 2018’s PS4 Spiderman. Sony has said this is not a direct sequel but instead a look to further expand upon the world through the eyes of Miles Morales. The graphics and presentation of this game are sure to entice any spiderman man. The lighting coupled with Mile’s powers makes this game a visual PS5 treat.
Last time we saw Miles, he had just shown Peter Parker he too had powers to which Peter Parker joined him upon the ceiling, it was a bonding moment the two spider-men would have. Fast forward maybe a year (I’m not sure how much time has passed since the last spiderman game) we are thrusted into the shoes of Miles Morales.
“Mom I’m home” Can we take a moment to appreciate my man’s line up here, dam that shit looks crispy.
Tumblr media
Walking through Harlem, music playing, and folks dancing Salsa in the street. I’m not going to lie, this made me cheese from ear to ear.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is what I expect to encounter when I have to mediate between clients ready to rip each other apart in a gory fashion (above).
Tumblr media
Okay, knowing how strong spiderman is, I fully expect the dude’s Jaw to be broken after this power punch.
Tumblr media
I forgot to mention (above) Miles can turn Invisible and has access to electric powers (below) sure to spruce up and affect the way Miles plays. I can only imagine a focus less on gadgets and more of an emphasis on Miles’ powers.
Tumblr media
Although I know this game stars a new spiderman aka Miles Morales, the developers sure are making sure we know  we’re not playing with Peter Parker anymore.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Insert obligatory spiderman being pulled from different directions trope here” I’m not even going to front; this image is pretty cool.
Tumblr media
Lastly, how dope is this launch title? It is one of the first games I plan to beat on my PS5.
-          I do want to say one thing regarding this title. I think it’s pretty great from a representation perspective to see a Black and Puerto Rican spiderman. Representation matters. I’m not Puerto Rican but am Latino and I do appreciate the flags littered throughout the trailer, folks dancing salsa and overall, Miles Morales as a character.
One gripe I have with this game unfortunately is Sony’s anti-consumer stance regarding those that purchased 2018’s Spiderman. Folks that purchase the Deluxe Spiderman Miles Morales edition for $79.99 get both Spiderman Miles Morales and a supped-up version of 2018’s spiderman for the PS5, yet Sony hasn’t extended an olive branch to those of us that supported their 2018 game (even making it one of their best sellers). IF you want to play Spiderman Miles Morales, you can cop it for a cool $49.99 which is dope but doesn’t include any type of upgrade for those of us with the PS4 version of spiderman. Honestly, as someone that doesn’t plan on playing the game again but it’s pretty anti-consumer to not even offer some type of benefit to those PS4 supporters. Here’s to hoping they offer some type of upgrade via a patch to the PS4 spiderman.
·       Turns out the game will run natively better on the PS5 given the consoles superior power but for a truly next gen 2018 Spiderman experience, you gotta pay those $69.99 duckats.
Looks Like we’re going back to Hogwarts and I’m not talking about Fantastic Beasts or Harry Potter. We received our first look (aside from the leak that was released last year). In Hogwarts Legacy, we go back to the late 1800s to visit the Wizards of the Waverly place (I think I said this right, I’ve only seen the Harry Potter movies once all the way through). Either way, it looks like they managed to capture the magic of Hogwatz. The walls of Hogwarts look alive, books flying all over the place and magic spewing from cauldrons of unknown potions.
Our journey begins going back to Hogwarts with a cool looking Owl to boot.
Tumblr media
The sorting hat is back babi, it seems like this is a create your own character adventure, where we as the player will get to customize our very own character, sure to get into whatever wizardly fun is to be found.  Team Slytherin all day!! JK, I’m team Gryffindor babi. But really tho, I have no idea what school I’d be assigned too.
Tumblr media
In both of these pictures, its quite remarkable the little details you see; the more you look, the more you see. Did you see the candles above, or the candlelight below
Tumblr media
Looks like our boys are cooking up work in the kitchen aka cauldron. I’d also like to bring attention to the lighting, truly impressive.  Time to eat some delicious grub with my fellow wizards!! (Below)
Tumblr media
Looks like we’ll be facing a litany of different monsters and foes. I know with my Avada Kedavra, I’ll be blasting fools like the one below away.
Tumblr media
Dam son, we fighting Dragons out here too, sheesh.
Tumblr media
Looks like combat will be a big portion of gameplay as the video showed of a created character fighting some pretty large beasts.
Tumblr media
Looks like we’ll be playing quidditch in this game, and I honestly can’t wait.
Tumblr media
I sure do hope we’re able to feed these little cuties and pet them.
Tumblr media
Looks like this game is open world, as the characters are seen flying on Griffins across the vista. They draw distances in this game are spectacular.
Tumblr media
Hogwarts Legacy launches in 2021.
Tumblr media
*JK Rowling has no involvement with this game and that’s a good thing given her recent problematic statements.
  Demon Souls
Full disclosure, I bought demon souls for the PS3 back in the day but unfortunately, did not stick with the game. It was fun and I would proceed to play other From Software and souls genre games in the future such as Sekiro, Bloodborne and Nioh to name a few. But here we have Bluepoint games remaking the PS3 Cult Classic and precursor to the Souls Genre. I for one am super excited to jump back in and try my hand again at Demon Souls.
This place here is the game’s main hub that allows you to access other portions of the world map. IT’s nice to see it in all it’s HD Glory.
Tumblr media
Our Player is borne anew: Rise from your grave!!! JK, this isn’t a Sega title.
Tumblr media
The environments look super luscious and literal indistinguishable from concept art. The leaves, lighting, and armor are truly a beautiful sight to see.  (Below)
Tumblr media
Nothing like chilling by a bonfire, although if you’re new to the genre, every time you heal at these bon fires, all the enemies you spent tirelessly fighting repopulate.
Tumblr media
Call me crazy but in the original, players from other games could leave each other messages written in blood, as a way to help each other out. It looks like this concept is making a comeback this time around.
Tumblr media
Dragons are so hot right now…. (insert Zoolander Gif here)
Tumblr media
If you have ever played a souls game, you know this is something you can expect to see even in your dreams. I remember going to bed thinking how an enemy boss had beaten me 13-times in a row, only to go to bed thinking and imaging different strategies on how I could kill the foe standing between me and the game's progress.
Tumblr media
The gameplay looks faster than the original but the difficult elements remain prevalent. The player is seen mowing down enemies which seems a bit off given the extreme difficulty of the PS3 game. But this could be Bluepoint addressing the sometimes-outrageous difficulty by making it more appealing to casuals.
Tumblr media
Launch Title!!!!
 God of War Ragnarök:
Tumblr media
Last time we saw our heroes, Kratos and Atreus were shacked up in their home when they receive a visit from a mysterious visitor brandishing what looks like Mjolnir on his waist.  The game ended in a great cliff hanger and is sure to improve on the many aspects the PS4 game
Tumblr media
Get the fuck out of here. Sony decided to drop a nuclear ton warhead on us with the teaser trailer of God of War Ragnarok, a sequel to the PS4’s God of War.  Although they did not show any game play, they did manage to build the hype with the screen below:
And then to top off the trailer the list the following with a supposed 2021 release date which I think is highly unlikely but, we will see. Either way, “we must prepare”.
Tumblr media
Sadly, when the presentation ended, pre-orders went live . We were told by Sony that we would have ample time to prepare to pre-order, nothing but the contrary occured. I was one of the unlucky folks who failed to obtain his PS5 preorder despite having the funds to do so. Here’s to hoping I’m able to secure a pre-order prior to the Nov 12 launch. I did manage to get a PS5 camera which is a must for me since I like to stream games online, it’s really quite addicting. Check out my channel at: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiazQqSufhmIGo2a7odLOpQ?view_as=subscriber.
I do want to say one thing, I am very fortunate to have the things i’ve accumulated over the years. I know there are people in the world that lack even basic necessities. If you’re reading this, please donate to  cause/fund or organization you beleive in. I know my life’s work is to improve the living conditions of everyone regardless of their creed and that keeps me plenty busy.
