Quick Bontrager Update

As y’all might recall, Carolina and Cassidy Bontrager were both expecting and due this summer, and one of them—we don’t know which—gave birth on July 17, 2022. That baby was Grandchild #12 for Marlin + Becky Bontrager.

Well, it appears the other one still hasn’t given birth, as of today… During a Q&A on their Instagram Story on August 24, 2022, the Bontragers said—

When the other one gives birth, hopefully she will tell us, so we’ll know which sister gave birth in July!

"LOST" (3.15) "Left Behind" Commentary

Who wrote this episode? Honestly. For years, I thought it was a decent, but not exactly mind-blowing episode. But after this latest viewing, I really do not know what to think of it.

I guess I have to start with Kate, since this was her centric episode. I don't know why we had to watch Cassidy Phillips, Sawyer's old flame, help Kate speak with her mother, Diane Janssen. 

This is what annoyed me about Kate. Were we supposed to sympathize with her over Diane ratting her out to the cops . . . and her being perplexed about it? Because I felt no sympathy for her. I still don't. Diane had a very good reason for snitching on Kate. The latter had murdered her husband, blew up her house and committed insurance fraud to cover up the fact that a murder had been committed. Worse, Kate had lied about the real reason she killed Wayne. She had killed Wayne for her own personal and selfish reason. And yet Kate was unforgiving toward her mother over ratting her out? Fuck that. Diane had a chance to rat her out a second time. Only she didn't bother in this episode. Kate had her good moments as an individual, but her complaints about Diane in this episode only convinced me how incredibly selfish and delusional she was.

And why did Kate ask Juliet what the latter had done to piss off Ben and the Others? Juliet had murdered Pickett - right before Kate's eyes - in order to save her and Sawyer. Had she experienced memory loss or something? Who had concocted this ridiculous plan to handcuff Juliet to Kate? Hold on. I know why. But honestly . . . all Juliet had to do was find Jack after regaining consciousness. She knew he was sympathetic to her. It seemed so pointless to handcuff Juliet to Kate. This whole scenario struck me as unnecessary and infantile. As for the catfight in the rain? Sexist and I suspect, typical of this series' showrunners. And Juliet's encounter with the Smoke Monster? Pointless, because she had never encountered it again.

The Hurley-Sawyer "B" plot? I also found that annoying. It's not that I have any sympathy toward Sawyer at this point. I didn't. I didn't really like Sawyer until Season 5. If Hurley that a leader was needed to fulfill the absence of Jack, Sayid and Locke; why didn't he step up and do the job himself? If he was capable of pushing or manipulating Sawyer into stepping into the leader role, he was capable of assuming leadership himself. Instead, Hurley pulled this stupid stunt. All this plot managed to achieve was solidify my belief that Hurley was a man child throughout most of the series' run.
