Me: Wouldn't it be funny if Mystra (under the alias "LadyOfMysteries") is on all the Gale Discords and reblogs horny Gale content on her Tumblr. @astraliaa & @bluebeebalmwrites: *proceed to create an entire nuanced YouTuber BloodWeave modern AU narrative over the course of the next hour* ~ I had to write it. ~ Astarion lies in the dark of his room, the only light the artificial glow of his phone, illuminating his face. His eyes narrow as he taps ‘play’.

“Hello again!” A tinny, almost muffled voice rings out cheerily. The man on the screen is about the same age as Astarion, perhaps a little older. He has long-ish brown hair scruffily tied back in a half bun, stubble, and large, tortoiseshell glasses. He's wearing the most heinous purple fleece. From what Astarion can see behind the man, he looks to be sitting in a fairly cluttered kitchen.

Astarion skips ahead in the video. Ten minutes in — ten minutes — the man says, “Anyhow, back to today’s Five Things About Magic video! This time, I’m going to look at five spells absolutely anyone can master. Even you!” The man points into the camera in a way that makes Astarion want to die.

“First up, we’ve got a really easy one. This is a very handy little cantrip for lighting candles, getting the hob going, seeing in the dark, and so on. Obviously, at higher levels, it gets a bit more dangerous but we don’t need to worry about that just yet. Okay, here it is.” The man tilts his chin down, smiling into the camera before flicking his fingers at a candle on the table in front of him. “Ignis.”

The wick flares into life and the man winks. “See? Simple. And very manageable for anyone to get to grips with, even your granny who always regretted never learning magic will be able to grasp this one!”

Fire bolt is the only cantrip Astarion can do. Grimacing, he skips ahead again. The whole thing is about 45 minutes long. At one point, the entire screen goes blank as the wizard’s phone falls flat without him realizing. The video ends as he’s halfway through rounding up the information for the sixth cantrip on his list. In his Five Things video. Astarion doesn’t know why, but this grates on him even more than the hideous picture quality.

As he always does, Astarion tortures himself by obsessively refreshing the page, watching the likes go up exponentially. The wizard only just posted the video — at 1am on a weekday ffs — and the likes are already in the thousands. Astarion knows that, by this time tomorrow, they'll be in the millions.

He scrolls down and flicks through the comments, just to fuel the acidic rage in his chest.

anyway! here we go!

the first amv i remember making was this Bakura one, pretty shortly after the episode most of the material in it is from first aired in Japan (i was watching along through unsubbed torrents with episode summaries on some fanpage helping me understand what was happening XD):

the second amv i made was about my other favorite character of the time, Seto, and inspired by a fandom friend mailing me a burned CD-R with some Noa Arc episodes on it bc that's how you got your hands on this stuff back in the day:

and here's my 3rd and last amv that starts off with the worst quality bc Movie Maker was dying on me so i had to export and import and export again and import again stuff to keep it running. it's Puzzleshipping which was something i was into back then.

i sometimes think about maybe trying my hand on amvs again now that i have Premiere and am better at editing but like. i just can't be bothered to do the whole footage collection thing. back then i barely had any so it was easy. now i have the whole show on a harddrive and like.... nah. thx. i'm fine :D'

... anyway, does anyone else remember that Breaking The Habit YGO amv about Battle City/Battle Ship Ryou that existed at some point on the internet, some time before the original musicvideo to the song came out in 2004? Because i SWEAR that was a thing but i've been unable to find it again, mostly because trying to look for one particular amv to fucking Linkin Park is like. trying to find the literal needle in the hay stack when you're not even sure how much of the hay has been removed and how often the floor has gotten swept in the last 15+ years :,D

I'll try to make a complete list of all the things you might need, I hope this helps you. Ofc if you need more specific info just let me know ♡

● general tips;

For the first few months I watched a lot of tutorials (i'll link them later), both on youtube and on tumblr and they were really useful. So, while watching videos I tried to make stuff for myself, here and there, trying to replicate aspects of graphics I saw around that I presonally liked. While making a graphic I often needed to do something specific, I simply looked for it on youtube. With time I learned how to use more and more tools on photoshop and soon I could do more things by myself. The main point of it is trying, experimenting, making and remaking.

Looking around myself also helps, here on tumblr, on other websites, magazines or when I walk down the street, I try to find inspiration from everything, this way I have many different styles and ideas coming together and I take from the the things I like, trying to convey them in what I think is more "my style".

Take your time. every works takes his time to be made and it’s wrong to force yourself to finish it in a certain amount of time, because this way you won’t give yourself enough time to experiment, try more textures until you find the right one or find the perfect coloring for the gif etc. I did this at the beginnings, I thought that I had to post stuff asap and it was taking a toll on me and my creativity was ruined many times because of it, resulting in me hating the final work.

● Sizes ;

▸ 540 x 540 px (if the text is not that important and the main focus are the photos) ▸ 1080 x 1080 px (for higher quality, this way the text is readable, even if small) ▸ 540 x 743 px (usually used for sets of 4-panels graphics) ▸ 1080 x 1526 px (higher quality for 4-panels graphics)

● tutorials;

✧ youtube ▸ phlearn ▸ photoshop tutorials ✧ tumblr ▸ itsphotoshop ▸ chaotic resources note: on youtube you can honestly find anything you need, just type what you need to learn and you'll definitely find a tutorial for it! Also, some content makers, here on tumblr, sometimes do explain how they create their works posting tutorials too.

● material;

✧ brushes ▸ deviantart ▸ brusheezy ✧ fonts ▸ dafont ▸ fontsquirrel ▸ behance ✧ png content ▸ deviantart note: often if i need something specific I google it first to see if i can find it in any website available. Otherwise if I'm in the mood to look for some new material I look on the sites i linked above
