in hindsight the way voltron basically laid down and rolled over and imploded was fucking hilarious. what a batshit experience that show was

#i need somekne to do a deep dive into this show and detail everything that happened both in the show / with the crew / with the fandom #bc i erased it all from my mind #like didnt fans try to blackmail the show crew over a ship or something I CANT REMEMBER #was that voltron or some other show #and just. the way the queerbaiting was so bad and then they backtracked and was like NO IT WAS DREAMWORKS CENSORING US #and all the weirdo fans were like omg they were censored DX #but anyone with a brain could see why that was a lie #…. and then like a week later it was in fact revealed to be a lie #like they did all that themselves for no reason LMAOO #GOD AND THE ONE VOICE ACTOR WAS ON TUMBLR #AND THEY REBLOGGED FANART OF THEIR (15 YEAR OLD GIRL!!!) CHARACTER SHIRTLESS #and when people were upset by that the VA just . posted a sparkle gif saying ‘are you upsetti have some spaghetti’#and it eventually snowballed into the VA bullying a 14 year old off tumblr #and i think the same VA also bullied ANOTHER 13/14 yo off tumblr but on a separate occasion #LIKE IT WAS INSANE IT WAS SO INSANE #brot posts #i was like 15-16 for all this it has permanently changed me as a person #being 15 on tumblr in the voltron fandom did some irreparable harm to me psychologically

I will always believe Keith's sudden growth spurt due to "being on a space whale for two years" is just someone on the creative team for the show really trying to wish fulfil a similar growth spurt.

GOSH I HEAR YA. I feel your pain in my bones anon. I never finished Voltron for various reasons but maybe someday…I count myself lucky I was offline for the worst of the apparent drama. Easier to hold onto the fond memories of when it was starting out and such! But yea even then, ships were everywhere….and not the spaceships I wanted to see in my sci-fi haha 🥁🐍

Maybe this is kinda hypocritical of me being an animator and all but. I don’t think animation would be the best way to adapt asoiaf. I think it would most likely come out kinda shit. Sorry

#.txt #ok I had a longass rant in the tags for why I think this but tldr: animation is still expensive theyd still have to cut stuff #yes some things would be easier/cheaper in animation but others. not #also imo there's nothing that outlandish in asoiaf that cant be adapted in live action #‘there’s so many flashy outfits and colors’ yea like there were in real history lol #oh yea also you cant have intricate clothes in 2d animation. and 3d is even more expensive + harder to make it look good #tbh for me the perfect adaptation would be live action with like an infinite budget made by people who aren’t afraid of colors #so unobtainable i guess but also idgaf about getting a 100% accurate adaptation if I’m honest #I’m still a ‘half of got was good’ truther sorry #all of this being said i still think animated asoiaf would be really cool. i just disagree that its the only/best way to adapt it #maybe its just bc i picture it in that stiff flat animeish voltron style lol. its uglyyyy i hate it why does every show look like that

do you ever think about deleted ao3 fics that you cared about deeply and spent hours reading and re-reading and now they’re gone and you’ll never read them again or are you normal

#this is specifically about this one voltron fic where lance was altean and had a twin sister #and there was some zombie horror aspect #it was post season 2 so shiro was gone but allura was pregnant #this was before we knew allura was supposed to be a teenager mind you #and they were trapped in some star system #which had something to do with lance's dead twin sister #at some point lance was having dreams of things that weren't real and keith gave him a bracelet to show it was real when he was wearing it #and then someone died while he was wearing the bracelet and it turned out the reality was the other way around #where the bracelet sequences were fake and the non-bracelet sequences were real #i think about this fic all the time #saw it from like chapter 5 to its conclusion #the other thing im thinking about is the tss animatic to home by cavetown #theres a lot but the one im thinking about was removed for copyright #endlessly sad about lost media

#mobbtalks #I think the fact I’m working on the five dragons again has like. flushed my brain back to a lot of old unfinished projects #this is from a take on the adventure zone balance where Taako can see Lup’s ghost the whole time #but the have No Way to communicate so really it’s a lot of frustrated charades #I’m also being fucking. haunted. by Voltron. I am not doing it I am not writing it but there was an au idea I had years ago #that had decided to move back into my head WITHOUT permission #basically at the start of Voltron they show up on the castle or w/e and wake up allura and. other guy. right #well the idea I had was what if they don’t do that #it would have picked up multiple years later when Pidge(? I think) managed to reconnect some faulty relay and the pods come back online #I think they were like stasis/healing pods? rough getting around w/o those #and essentially it would be like. a real deep dive onto allura and other guy #if I remember right they essentially are the last survivors of their whole race. a desperate last hope #how would they feel waking up to find that a group of people have done it without them? people from a planet that doesn’t even know Voltron #it was gonna have a lot of focus on grief and the lions and change #and i refuse. not doing it. nuh uh can’t make me Get Out Of My Head #a real big focus on team as family which as far as I can recall the real Voltron never really did NOT DOING IT NO #anyway this taz fic has a lot of really good lines actually but this is my favourite

I FINISHED SEASON 2 OF VOLTRON

OKAY SO SO SO that was a WILD season and the showdown in the last 2 episodes? it was so dramatic and deserved. Really interesting to see the mages(?) get more screentime (though barely) because they are so funky. what are they doing why are they there. but anyways like last time I'lll put the rest below xD

BACK ABOUT THE MAGES. I don't remember their names but the head mage gives off "puppeteering-everything-from-the-background" vibes. I wouldn't be surprised if they turned out to be the real mastermind behind it all. Like if the magic was used to corrupt some minds and help build the empire. Although I don't know what that would do to the world building?

Shiro. WHERE DID SHIRO GO. Like they went HARD on Shiro this season. He's trying his best but life keeps attacking him. The mind battles he has are super cool and WOW this man can fight. but also Shiro do you ever sleep. does he sleep. does he believe in self care. I don't think he's ever heard of sleep before.

Pidge gives off some of the vibes of Haruhi from OHHC. They both have similar genders. Love how she gets time to shine at the tech planet!

Hunk being a master chef is cool, especially considering he's probably never seen any of those ingredients before. Still kinda disappointing that they made 3/4 of his personality food. I also think he'd be good at hugs lol

Keith my man are you okay?? I'm getting vibes of orphan club which like same xD. But also now that Shiro is gone Keith is probably going to have to take over? The red lion has shown to act independently so if Keith takes over the black lion then they could still form voltron? (the black lion has show to not care as mucha bout who's in it, at least compared to the red lion.

ALSO the red lion acting independently feels kind of like a parallel to hyper-vigilance. Keith doesn't feel safe often so his lion is always on guard and ready to protect, unlike a lot of people who generally don't have such a hyperactive "I must protect myself at all costs" mentality. It's the constantly engaged survival instincts you honour

Love how lance is just some guy. I am not invested in him and I feel like he would not be invested in me if we ever met xD. Love how he's just some guy while Shiro has gone through insurmountable psychological and physical trauma. he's just there.

THE MERMAID ADVENTURE WAS SUPER NEAT. LOVE HOW THE QUEEN DIDN'T TURN OUT TO BE BAD (maybe? it felt a little rushed when it got to that point). The suspense of figuring out what was causing the mind control was pretty neat. Also the giant worm beast was living it's life. technically wasn't decimating the mermaid population so.. (joking joking I just really liked its design)

Black lion trust battles are super cool. But I gotta say the black lion has like, reverse trust issues. please just stop trying to pick the genocidal dictator that keeps killing millions of people. please. Though it does make me wonder if part of the reason the black lion accepted Shiro so fast was because Shiro reminded the black lion of the previous paladin? With the arm and vibes and everything?

Coran is growing on me. he's just built like that and honestly good for him. He's like a space dad. Also emo Coran is great, might be a heavy stereotype but you know what we can ignore that and let him own it. Give him back that haircut. Also how he speaks sometimes makes me think that he's not from the same planet Allura is? Like maybe he's from a sister planet of a species that evolved extremely similar but not identical. Because he can't do everything Allura can. UNLESS Allura can do it because she's a princess whichhhh eh. It's cool for her but also tiring to see the whole "royal families are good and deserve their positions because they are inherently more special and valuable" sort of message.

ALLURA. QUEEN. SHE IS FLEXING HER POWER AND I SUPPORT HER ON THAT ENDEAVOUR. She was being mean to Keith but all things considering I can understand her hesitance considering everything. Stills sucks that Keith had to go through her projections. but also DAMN when she blends in to sneak onto the ship I loved seeing her fight. like her fighting style there was literally "what if I just slam everything together". I love that for her

also Keith being only half(?) human is really cool but WOW the team was not very understanding. Just let the guy be. He's trying his best but he also needs time to process and adapt. And I don't think he adapted too well if his first(ish) reaction to being part galra was to throw himself into enemy ships and nearly die AGAIN

red lion going feral is cool. Love how it has a stronger personality compared to the others, but it makes the other lions seem less powerful? not powerful perse but more so they get almost kidnapped a lot more and don't really do anything about it while the red lion will fight for its own freedom.

ANYWHO I should probably go watch the third season because I MUST know where Shiro went. is he okay <- judging by his character he is one of the MOST least okay characters.

The episode where Lance's Lion gets taken except they take Lance too and he has to get out and for some reason the only plan they have is having Keith in Yellows Mouth as they desperately try to catch up with them and they have to do the scene from The Runaway Bride from Doctor Who cause Lance absolutely does not trust Keith will catch him

And later Hunk yells at him cause he's known Lance a while and there's no way with the trust issues he displayed at the very beginning that he wouldn't have kept his beady eyes trained on Lance so it ended up with Lance having to track Rolo instead and they have to switch up their plan

#its the stupidest and most derivative rewrite episode i wanna do but i so want for this to a little bit #be the very beginning of Lances bi arc #where Hunk is like no nope i domt trust these people and ik how easily youre distracted by pretty girls #and demands he keep an eye on everyone #so rolo tries to tell pidge he and the robot need to collect some supplies and thinking he has this handled takes the bait #and offers to go in pidges stead #then rolo begins to flirt with him and lamce gets dazed 1. by being flirted with and 2. cause hes lowkey into being flirted with by this guy #and rolo takes the opportunity to get him and the lion who hed taken with him as back up #and then the runaway bride scene happens cause it gives lance and keith the opportunity to restablish trust #after they bonded and then Lance joked it never happened #the chance to show their rivalry is well and truly behind them and that they trust each other #and also allows hunk to be like lance what the hell i put you in charge of the not the girl how the hell.did you get caught unaware #and lance is like... i guess i got distracted csuse i totally thougjt i could handle in a fight... thats it... yeah #and that explanation flies with mostly everyone except shiro an elder gay and keith whos like... yeah i got distracted by that guy too #but idk why you wouldve unless....#voltron #vld #voltron: legendary defender #lance mcclain #lance vld #the klance in the tags is mostly platonic its like at the stage where its not being hinted at... yet

Like i WATCHED all of She-Ra, but I have not ever felt compelled to revisit it because of that; the charming art style is very much let down by the actual execution

it’s interesting you make the comparison to she-ra, because it feels similar in a lot of ways, right down to the art style and even a lot of the world elements. voltron’s universe definitely feels a lot more concrete in a way that she-ra’s never did.

some of that is just because the writing does a good job of situating everything, but also the animation has an oomf to it. like the fights are really nice and fluid, more so than even later mir releases (the dota 2 anime), and it even helps land small, humorous moments.

Klance's queer baiting by the team was the worst!! We had to deal with NETFLIX ALSO GETTING IN ON THE QUEER BAITING!! If you searched up Kkance during the times for season 6-8, the SHOW WOULD POP UP. The directors would make jokes about it being canon, even Lance's VA got in the joke!

Their queer baiting was the worst for anyone who was even looking for an ounce of queer rep in that show. The only queer rep we got was a man who died after not even 5 minutes on screen, and shoehorned in the credit scene of a gay wedding of a character that was neither Keith nor Lance.

I do not know Agatha and Sophie, so I can't argue that klance was bigger bait or not, I just know voltron was mean lmao. the creators said stuff like "lance will be someone's first choice!" (meaning NOT ending up in a relationship with allura bc she very much chose another guy over him) and heavily implying he would be Keith's 1st choice (or a guy in general bc of point number 2). point number 2: they also released official art showing how super cool and diverse the main cast was! race! gender! LGBT - they had shiro (who was......canon gay but that's a whole other can of worms) and lance hold the sign with LGBT on it and then did absolutely nothing with that w lance at all (he hit on allura, so obvi he's not gay, but at least bi or smt) (UNLESS you count the scenes where he's flirty with keith). I just remember going into the last few seasons being like "klance probably won't be happen be honest with yourself there's like no queer kids shows!! but damn like it so could tho!!! because of how much it's been teased both in the show and by showrunners like I can't have no hope with the way the producers talk about it!" lmao I should have had no hope, but i genuinkey believed there was a possibility it could happen. and actually I discovered after the fact that i think one of the writers for the show who was the main advocate for klance (they had a lot of diff writers for eps, which led to lots of character butchering but ANYWAY) left not terribly long into the show I believe bc he didn't like the direction it was moving in and didn't want to be tied to the show anymore. so it's not like fans just made klance up either - it was written into earlier episodes with the hope and plan to continue developing later, and then just nothing ever happened with it besides INTENSE teasing it to keep queer fans around. esp after shiro's relationship was literally only a flashback and then his fiance thing or whatever got blown up before we even got to watch him interact w shiro as we knew him in present time in s7, so I think they kept being like hmmm klance and the stuff about lance being a first choice before s8 to keep ppl around. also esp bc klancers made up such a big portion of the fan base. then they made a horrible szn and ended it w a flashforward to shiro marrying some random background character who maybe had 1 line? I just remember hitting the flashforward and being like uhhhh who is this dude??? but they did that to hit those diversity points wow first gay marriage in a cartoon or smt idk it doesn't count to me really. so anyway voltron in general is queerbait lol but klance is because it started out as a legit possibility and then they said sike! but only maybe sike bc u guys are mad at us burying our guys in s7 so maybe klance could still happen haha okay now we're serious no it's not happening. anyway I think klance is p bad queerbait and a vote for them is a valid vote, not just u liking the ship.
