today i learned that ordering anything from Japan to the USA has a whole lot of complicated security measures involved, but it was worth it because look at this cool Rockman fan magazine i found on E-Bay!
this is a special issue focusing on the female cast
there’s a lot of nice fanart in here

Zeus: I think it's time for Father to be released from Tartarus.
Hades: You want me to release the man who ate me and our other siblings as babies from the jail we put him in because he ate us.

I think there's a lot to be said about games that take themselves seriously 24/7 vs games that have a little humor, especially horror.
Let's take Lethal Company for example, very fun game. It entirely depends on you and your group's ability to take it seriously. With people who take it seriously it's just dead silence between everyone when they collect scrap, or very minimal talking. With people who don't it's just joking around with friends, like usual, it makes the sense of dread where you can't tell if someone's out of range, dead, or being quiet to play a prank on you. All 3 of those things are likely!
In the same way, I think that's why Voices of the Void hits so hard for me. I like space, it's a pretty space-themed game. There's no hard objective, you can say fuck the signals and just go do donuts in your parking lot on the ATV the entire day. As @eliias-bouchard put it, "The game lets you choose exactly how much horror is in it, and yet revokes that choice constantly". You can turn the radar completely off if you want, ignore every monster or non threatening wisp outside, for better or for worse. You can choose to ignore signals entirely and make a living off fishing or mining if you want. You don't need to reset the power, but you likely will anyways, and I think that goes for most of these things. Fishing is fun, sure, but you could make a lot more money per day by doing the daily task. Most people couldn't live without the radar, either. The amount of blind-spots around the base just makes either it or an absurd amount of cameras necessary.
I feel like I'm talking in circles here but it's a very good game, both on the surface and the more I look at the way the game is actually designed. It's free on Itch.io and I suggest checking it out if you have the time.
