(I opted not to colour these, since the humid air is making my screen a little uncomfortable to draw against.)

I think I'm getting the hang of drawing Rook. Someone described him as “Furby” like and I find tue comparison delightful. Rook's armor helps to distort his silhouette into something more human-like, and as an adult he has taken to wearing specialized shoes to help offset the strain imposed by living and working in a human society, as his own is far less constant in its activities.

Tangentially, his has much less fat, since they don’t need immediate energy localized to the muscles. Their muscles are thinner as well, being made of different, more efficient materials than those of earth lifeforms. They are considerably tall and gangly, their evolution dependent on their singular food source (those amber fruits).

Humans, comparatively, are squishy, climby, clingy creatures built around pursuit predation and spontaneity. We have had many predators and are the predators of many more. Revonnahganders' only have competition with one other species and it is over their mutually sought food source.

Revonnahgander necks are about as long as their torsos and their arms reach as for as their knees. Humans have looong torsos housing many organs, several of which exist to control for and filter out toxins/bacteria. Revonnah has very few microbials, so there was much less of a need for such parts.

Humans are high energy, highly sociable, and incredibly verbal. Ben is an AuDHDer, so there's a hand in the scale, but there is still considerable difference between how Rook and Ben express and perceive.

Assuming that Endurance determines alcohol tolerance based on the drinking contest with Cass (and ignoring the confusing detail that you need at least 8 EN to beat Cass but she only has 4):

Arcade, Raul, Benny, and Vulpes are light weights.

Boone is about average.

Lily, Veronica, and Cass are heavy weights.

Alcohol has seemingly no effect on Ulysses.

Edit: Benny is actually average with an EN of 5! Thought he had 4; must have mixed him up with someone else.

Female-fronted February - Masterpost

So, that was that month, I guess. Time flies. If you haven’t been following along the TL;DR is that I’ve been spending my February picking out a new female-fronted album every day. It’s been fun. There’s both some hidden gems as well as some well-respected icons, spread over a good mix of genres. So, yeah, end of the project! Would I do it again? Probably. Was it time-consuming? Definitely. At the moment I’m working on a women’s music canon (because gen canons tend to have around 15% women (*including mixed group and being very generous in my counting) and I think that’s a well shame.

Really, what this is, is an encouragement to seek out more female artists, old and new. They deserve to be heard. The music industry has historically been terribly male-centric - it’s about time to center the women once in a while, don’t you think?

La caja de los ritmos de Carlos Tena

Ayer se estrenó en la Cineteca de Matadero, en el barrio madrileño de Legazpi, el documental de la serie Imprescindibles sobre el periodista y crítico musical Carlos Tena (1943-2023).

El reportaje está fantásticamente realizado y recupera muchas imágenes de archivo, además de hacer un recorrido musical y periodístico muy preciso alrededor de su figura, recordando fundamentalmente su paso por televisión (Popgrama, Caja de ritmos, Música maestro, Auanbabulubabalambambú).

Aparece destacado el episodio de censura y la querella criminal que sufrió Carlos Tena tras la emisión en su programa de la actuación del grupo femenino de punk, Las Vulpes, y su archiconocido «Me gusta ser una zorra» (versión libre de «I wanna be your dog», The Stooges).

El documental se podrá ver también en abierto en Televisión Española, en el programa Imprescindibles en La 2, en un par de semanas.

The Forbidden Fix

[Closed | Disclaimer & TW :: This self-para describes an inappropriate relationship between Vulpe, who was 16 at the time and a married man. Although the AoC in the UK is 16, that doesn't make this right and the Mun is aware of this. In no way does the Mun condone this type of relationship]

The man was a colleague of dad’s… or was it mom’s? Though this had been going on for weeks, the demigod still had no idea what he did for a living, nor did he care. They’ve first met at a dinner party his parents hosted. Vulpe rarely stuck around for those, usually making an appearance at the beginning to be polite, grab a plate and disappear into his room again.

Not long after Vulpe pressed play on the movie he wanted to watch with his meal, the older man walked through the door. He was looking for the bathroom, was his excuse. Instead of sending him back down, the politician’s son let the acquaintance use his en-suite.

And that’s how it all started...

This was wrong in more ways than one and Vulpe knew it. But that didn’t stop him from meeting up with him time after time. In hotels, at his office, at his home. It was exciting, the adrenaline of sneaking around, not getting caught. It wasn’t love, the kit wasn’t stupid, but as the two were skin to skin, he felt a sense of validation that, even only in that moment, the man chose the demigod over his wife.

I love Fallout: New Vegas and I actually have ocs for the game that aren’t the Courier and that relate to side characters cuz that’s much more fun than main character bs:

Nero - Champion of Flagstaff

A Centurion from the 47th tribe inducted into Caesar’s Legion, The Pale Eyes, a small tribe from the ruins of Española, New Mexico

He is the oldest child of his father, a former chieftain of The Pale Eyes, Silenus, and his younger brother, Ex Legionary-in-training Lucretius aka NCR Private Poindexter

He is proud of his legion rank and status but he does not fully believe in the Legion, he is only truely aligned with Lucius and will do what he asks without quarry

Nero is feared by his men within Flagstaff, he gained his rank of Centurion when he impressed Praetorian Guard Lucius (Before he became the Commander of the Guard) when he fought in the Flagstaff Arena when he was a Prime Decanus at 19

Lucius thought Nero’s name (Sharing a name with Roman Emperor Nero) would possibly gain favor among the upper ranks of the Legion and even Caesar himself, though Caesar never cared for the prodigy of his Commander, many in the Legion, including Vulpes Inculta and members of the Legion’s government, do

Ranger Codiac was sent out back into Utah by Chief Hanlon, a old friend of his, on a “recon” mission in case any of the tribes come to attack NCR caravans but instead found a 13 year old Poindexter stuck, in a bear trap he’d set up, one night while hunting

He kept the young boy, raising him and teaching him about the West. He was tough on Poindexter, giving him his “know-it-all, self-serving” prick we know him as in the game

His personality switches between a understanding father figure and a soldier hardened by warm and the problems that come with it which axe it hard for himself to relate to Poindexter when the boy ran off and got in trouble with the New Canaanites that lived close to their small ranger station

Nació en Japón, su madre después de conocer a su padre decidió quedarse y dejar todo atrás. Creció en una familia llena de amor y respeto, amaba a sus padres y ellos a él, incluso le apoyaron en su decisión de estudiar artes y luego sacar el grado de docente, aún si el resto de familia estaba en contra y existía este prejuicio hacia los zorros en general por su naturaleza.

El primer año fue el más difícil, recibiendo comentarios acerca de su apariencia andrógina, raíces y demás, pero nunca se rindió, llegando a ser elogiado por profesores y otros artistas del país. Al segundo año, tenía ya su grupo de amigos formado, y entre ellos, su pareja; un precioso omega zorro que había conocido en una de sus idas a museos y que casualmente iban en la misma universidad, pero distintas facultades, y si bien estaba feliz por encontrar a su pareja destinada, su madre insistía en que no se guiara por el destino. Discutieron tanto al punto de que se terminó yendo de casa a vivir con su omega.

Ahí comenzaría su perdición.

Llevaba ya tres años con su pareja, y estaba seguro que serían más, ya que estaban enlazados y con un hermoso bebé de apenas unos seis meses, y al ser destinados, estaba seguro de su amor y su lealtad a su omega era inquebrantable, aún si este a veces desmeritaba su trabajo o juzgaba su apariencia.

Ese día tenía una entrevista de trabajo en una escuela de arte prestigiosa, por lo que tuvo que cancelar la reunión que tenía junto a sus amigos y pareja en su hogar, puesto que no tenía la confianza suficiente en una niñera que cuidara a su hijo, se habían despedido de beso antes de irse, por algún extraño motivo se sentía inquieto, lo atribuyó a la entrevista e intentó relajarse, todo iba a salir bien.

Para su suerte (o no) salió más rápido de lo que esperó, por lo que mandó un mensaje a su omega y regresó a casa, mas en el camino sintió un horrible dolor en su pecho, sintiendo cómo algo se quebrara en su interior, ¿qué demonios estaba sucediendo?

Rápidamente llegó a su hogar siendo recibido por lloriqueos de su bebé y un aroma extraño, feromonas mezcladas; supo de inmediato que algo andaba mal.

Apenas sube las escaleras, sintiendo el dolor punzante, su corazón se termina de romper al entrar a su cuarto y ver como su precioso omega estaba acurrucado a otro alfa en su cama y con una mordida fresca en su cuello, evidenciando lo que había sucedido en esas cuatro paredes.

— Kaoru, qué...

La rabia le invade aún si su cuerpo está débil, acercándose a ambos cuerpos para quitar a ese desconocido lejos de su omega, mas es detenido por el último mencionado, mismo que le da una cachetada a Rémi.

— ¡NO TE ATREVAS A TOCARLO!

Gritó con rabia su... ¿siquiera era su omega?, no podía creerlo

Se sentía horrible.

— ¿Por qué...? ¿¡POR QUÉ ME HICISTE ESTO!?

Reclama, conteniendo sus lágrimas.

— Porque lo amo, ¿o acaso creíste que me quedaría contigo por la estupidez de ser destinados?

Se quedó en silencio, ese fue un golpe bajo.

— ¿Pero que hay de nuestros planes? el cachorro-

— Puedes quedártelo, ¿por qué querría un mocoso que no es mío? de lo contrario, lo mataré.

Respondió esta vez ese intento de alfa, Kaoru asintiendo, dándole la razón.

— ¿Desde cuándo?

Realmente esperaba que dijera que apenas semanas, meses, pero la verdad es que su respuesta lo terminó de romper: Un año.

El mundo se le vino abajo, estuvo viviendo en una completa mentira y se permitió llorar, rogándole que no lo dejara, que buscaría otro empleo, pero sólo recibió una mirada de repulsión por parte del omega y un golpe del alfa.

La nueva pareja se fue, dejándolo solo. Lloró un buen rato hasta que escuchó el llanto de su hijo y fue a verlo, dándole una sonrisa rota.

— Ahora seremos tú y yo contra el mundo, eh...

Susurra, acariciando su mejilla y luego tomar su teléfono con su mano libre, marcando a su madre.

— Hola, mamá... Mhn, Kaoru me dejó, yo-

Escuchó la suave voz de su progenitor, tratando de calmarle y diciéndole que vaya a un departamento que había comprado a su nombre, que él mismo iría a buscarlo para trasladar lo necesario.

Esa misma noche, se llevó a cabo la mudanza exprés, llevando las cosas del cachorro y sus materiales de pintura, además de algunos libros y ropa.

La vida y el destino podían ser muy crueles, pero su cachorro lo ayudaría a sobrellevarlo.

Happy February! I’ll be doing this for all of February (probably. maybe? hopefully :)) Basically: one, female-fronted, album suggestion every day. If you think this is a protest to the large swaths of ‘best-of’ and discovery lists that are largely male and anglo-centric, you’d be right! :) Moving on, here’s the first:

Absolute icons. So, basically: First all-female spanish punk band, came to fame after a controversial TV performance in 1982, recorded this album in 2006 in honor of their drummer (Lupe Vasquéz). More on them here (es) and here (en).

One of my favorites, in all honesty. Look, this is exactly what you’d expect from early 80′s punk - obvious Ramones influence, provocation in focus, great fucking energy. Les espèces de mammifères disponibles sur les marchés

Les mammifères sont les animaux qui apparaissent dans les pires conditions sur les différents marchés. Les espèces disponibles varient beaucoup mais semblent se concentrer sur la Chine centrale. Les effets de ce genre de captures aggressives sur des espèces comme le panda géant sont inconnues mais donneraient lieu à une étude intéressante. L'élevage en captivité d'une certain nombre de ces esèces est apparement effectuée, même si on peut aussi voir des blessures de pièges dans les photos qui suivent.

I remember that from this profil - "fox" is similar to Nyctereutes procyonoides but this is only effect optical. I first thought that raccoon dog might ancestor this "fox", because is one of most primitive canid in the world. But now I totally persuaded myself that is more related to foxes from Vulpes genus. This probably represent new primitive or inversely - totally modern genus in tribe Foxes (Vulpini) and perhaps far related with red fox (Vulpes vulpes), corsac fox (Vulpes corsac) and arctic fox (Alopex lagopus), but this is not some that species, but it really represent new species."

Zastanawiam się nad niezwykłym psowatym z marketu z Guangzhou. W internecie obecnie prócz nielicznych znalezisk, to zwierzę może być gatunkiem nieznanym. Jak na razie nikt nie zwrócił na niego uwagi. Wydaje mi się, że zwierzę może mieć jakieś powiązania z plemieniem Canini. Do którego należy cyjon. Nie wykluczam jednak teorii jakoby zwierzę to należało do grupy lisów. Można to wytłumaczyć tylko w jeden sposób. Odszukać populację tego zwierzęcia. Hodgson w XIX wieku opisał jakiegoś cyjonowatego psa bez ogona. Szybko zwierzę zostało zdjęte z naukowej nomenklatury. Padła z mojej strony teoria, że bezogoniasty według nauki cyjon jest tym zwierzem z klatki. Nieeee, to tylko mojej przemyślenia. Podobno owy zwierz, był zwykłym cyjonem Cuon alpinus lepturus, który w jakiś sposób został pozbawiony ogona. Zwierzę z Guangzhou jest czymś nowym. Czym?? Napewno nie jest jenotem, lisem tybetańskim, ani Canis lupus familiaris

A mógłbyś dokładniej podać źródła? Bo z tego co podałeś nic nie wynika i nic nie można znaleźć, o ile to w ogóle nie jest jakiś następny wymysł. Po pierwsze: nie ma żadnego dowodu, że ten biedak w klatce to dzikie zwierzę. Może to być jakaś lokalna rasa psa lub mieszaniec. W Chinach przetrwało prawdopodobnie kilkanaście rodzimych ras psów szerzej nie znanych poza Chinami albo nawet poza prowincjami Chin w których występują, nieraz bardzo oryginalnych, sam wiem o 5-6 rasach o których jeszcze się nawet nie śniło polskim czołowym kynologom. Po drugie: nie ma problemu aby był to jakiś nowy gatunek, mało się o tym wie ale bioróżnorodność Chin jest ogromna. Dla przykładu, ile jest w Polsce odmian jeleni? Jak się nie mylę dwa, a w Chinach z tego co pamiętam pięć czy sześć.U nas jest jeden gatunek dzikiej świni a w Chinach siedem (a ras świn domowych w Chinach jest jak kiedyś liczyłem coś pod 90!) itd.itp.

No pod tym linkiem widać trochę wyraźniej, liskowate toto ale pies też może być.

Co do ras mało znanych z Chin to np. Czerwony Bulldog z Czungcing (Chongqing), Ogar z Mianshan, Chart Z Szanghaju itp. ale podobieństwo do tego zwierzaka mogłaby wykazywać jakaś krzyżówka Terriera z Xiasi (Xiasigou):

albo to inna, nieznana rasa psa.

Nmnm. Faktycznie nieco podobny. być może Ludziom z Chelonian wydało się, że to jakiś lis. Przesadziło o tym mocny zapach piżma, który wydawało to zwierzę. Właściwie puki nie będzie więcej danych nie ma mowy o mówieniu o jakichkolwiek decyzjach w sprawie klasyfikacji tego zwierzęcia. Na razie możemy mówić jedynie o hipotezach.

OK. Ale równie dobrze może to być odmiana mutacyjna lisa hodowlanego. Nawet u nas są dwie rodzime, jak lis białoszyjny i lis pastelowy, a u ruskich to już od groma jest takich odmian mutacyjnych, podobno nawet wychodowali lisy o psiej psychice, nadające się do trzymania w domu. Niewykluczone że i u chińców są jakieś odmiany i to może być to właśnie.

@NanBeiDaXia Sam się kiedyś zastanawiałem czy to lis... Zobacz na jego nienaturalnie duże łapy, są pokryte błoną pławną. Albo jest to jakieś górskie zwierzę, albo żyje na bagnach. Czy mogli wyhodować zwierzę o takich cechach....nie wiem...być może. Co jeszcze wszystkie zwierzęta znajdujące się w nielegalnym handlu w Guangzhou pochodziły z natury. ______________________________________________________________

Swoją drogą jenot z jakąś przerzedzoną, może wyleniałą lub zamoczoną, posklejaną sierścią też by mógł tak wyglądać, maść jest podobna, pysk wydaje się dłuższy niż u jenota ale mało tam w sumie widać. Co do tego czy tylko zwierzęta dzikie były na targu pewności nie ma. W Chinach po aferze SARS długo był zakas handlu na targach dzikimi zwierzętami, dopiero niedawno go zniesiono, kwestia kiedy zdjęcie było robione.

Vulpes sp. - Renard

Les animaux ci-dessous étaient à peine reconnaissable. Leur forte odeur de musc a permis de les identifier En terme d'espèce ils ressemblent aux renard tibétain (Vulpes ferrilata). Si c'est bien le cas, l'espèce est typiquement rencontrée dans les provinces du Sichuan en Chine centrale, à des hauteurs relativement élevées.
