TLOVM Season 2 Eps 10-12 Ramblings
EP. 10
- Kevdak is going to be the most satisfying victory this season
- Kaylie returns! I like how much of the story they’ve managed to get in such a small number of episodes.
- Travis’ sounds this season are fucking brutual good god...
- “Where does your strength come from?” Hell yes, the return of one of my favourite moments in the campaign
- “I. WOULD LIKE. TO. RAAAGE.” Hell. Yes. Kinda figured that’d lead to him getting his full strength back, but damn if it isn’t satisfying as hell to see.
- Seeing the rest of the party show up on the rooftop all badass... I love it so much.
- “Vox Machina! Fuck. Shit. Up!” And the battle cry to end all battle cries. Let’s fucking go.
- Scanlan’s backing music here is incredible and I love the fight scene animations so much in this show.
- I love that the animations when Vex uses the necklace are basically the same as Pokéball animations.
- I was right. Most satisfying death of the season. Fuck you Kevdak.
- Vax. Good grief. Get your shit together.
- And here’s the music battle between Scanlan and Kaylie.
- “At dawn, we plan!” I love how many of these little one-liners they manage to sneak in.
- “I’M DADDY!?” I mean, that’s one way to end an episode...
EP. 11
- For half a second I thought they changed the Scanlan and Sybil story. But no.
- The threads of fate and Vax’s bond to the Raven queen are really interesting to see. So many little moments that they couldn’t do in campaign but really enhance the story in the series.
- Of all things Scanlan could’ve said, why puppy?
- And Percy continues to be a fucking nerd.
- This whole Raven Queen scene is beautiful. Love the colours and composition so much.
- Yes, inside the dragon. This’ll go well.
- Two-part dragon fight!
EP. 12
- What... flash forward instead of flash back? No, just a dream. Of course.
- This whole fight is making me really appreciate the animators even more. I can’t imagine the nightmare of animating a fight sequence on a flying enemy.
- Again, it’s impressive how much of the original fight they kept, even if they made some slight tweaks to make it more cohesive.
- Vax got his wings! I’m only sad it wasn’t from Gilmore pushing him off a cliff like it was in the campaign... but I guess this is his “Where does your strength come from.” moment.
- Kevdak’s death was the most satisfying death this season. Ripley’s will be the most satisfying next season.
- Raishan... All I ask is we get some kind of reference to Larkin next season. That’s all.
- One dragon down, three to go. I can’t wait for next season.
GENERAL
- I love that this season showcased many of the cast’s individual skills. Travis and his battle noises, Liam and his ability to convey so much emotion with so few words, Sam and his singing, and of course Matt popping up everywhere in the world as various NPCs.
- I always wonder how they’re going to condense hundreds of hours of gameplay down to only a few without seeming rushed, but I was really impressed just how much they managed to cover this season. The feywild, Kevdak, the Slayer’s Take, the sphinxes, hunting vesitiges, slaying dragons. Dozens of hours of game time condensed into a nice cohesive story.

𝙿𝙴𝙾𝙿𝙻𝙴 𝙸'𝙳 𝙻𝙸𝙺𝙴 𝚃𝙾 𝙺𝙽𝙾𝚆 𝙱𝙴𝚃𝚃𝙴𝚁 !
favourite colours: red. i love red. i am also partial to green, some blues, and even though it's not a colour, black. most of my characters are themed around the colour red, actually, which makes mtn such an outlier in comparison lmao. it's ok tho, i fucking love my greens too! favourite genres: sci-fi and fantasy have always had my heart. oh, and historical stuff. the sci-fi thing has been sticking with me since i was little bc of stuff like jak & dexter and ratchet & clank, fantasy kinda started with this ps2 final fantasy game i have vague memories of + spyro, and historical stuff is traced back to assassin's creed and even god of war. and some western game. that's not even mentioning movies and stuff LMAO i live for these genres so much. favourite music: rock is EASILY the top for me. the artist most consistently in my top bands on spotify is linkin park, and that's because i was literally raised on that music. along with bon jovi, guns n roses, evanescence, nickelback... also no surprise that ghost just hits the Right Spot with their music, but my reigning artist this year was starset. and RIGHTFULLY SO. sci-fi electronic rock has been my absolute fucking jam and devolution has been on repeat. funny enough, my second type of music is pop, though i think that's mostly lady gaga... and then synthwave has been my more "unpopular" favourite genre. favourite films: ooh this is a tricky one... but one of my all-time top films is the original blade runner. i love dystopian futurism with all my heart, and i even read the short story it's based off of (do androids dream of electric sheep)! i also loved captain america the first avenger (periodic piece technically), aliens (SPECIFICALLY the second one), hellraiser up to three, the greatest showman, deadpool, inception, and uhhhh... yeah. most of my favoured fantasy things are game based. favourite series: ahem. westworld, altered carbon, dragon age: absolution, the legend of vox machina, house of the dragon... there's been a few. and look, listen, westworld was legit the first one i thought of because it was fucking AWESOME. getting my head around the first season was a nightmare, but it was so worth it because it has similar premises to blade runner and it's also meant to be in a world that mirrors the wild west? loved it. altered carbon gave me my sci-fi dystopian fix with some phenomenal storytelling imo, dragon age absolution may have been messy but the games have been a safe haven for me for SO LONG, and vox machina had me losing my mind. i watched it with my mother. (and i was thoroughly more entertained by hotd vs. got. thanks aleera!) last song: last song was talking in your sleep by the romantics, currently is square hammer by ghost! last series: i believe it was prehistoric planet with aleera! last movie: i think i sat down to watch nimona with aleera because she hadn't seen it before. i'm... pretty sure. i don't actually watch movies often anymore. currently reading: LMAO i don't read. oops. currently watching: not really anything, besides some youtube stuff. i haven't thought about picking up something new to watch.

The sky boiled away, fire and lightning splitting the clouds apart, as landing craft tore their way towards the ground. Pilfered and looted bulk-landers, commercial patterns in various shapes and size, some little more than boxes with engines and a steering compartment bolted to them, roared downwards in a mass of metal and flames. Little to no attempt was made by the pilots to coordinate between themselves, each craft jostling for space as they plummeted towards the landing zone.
The first lander to reach the landing zone overshot its mark by a few hundred metres, plowing through the earth in its descent before stopping itself. The engines and underbelly of the craft hadn’t finished cooling before the rear ramp slammer open on hydraulics. Out of the belly, a menagerie of nightmare forms spilled forth: pirates festooned with armour plates, hoses, and spikes, mutants, with their bodies twisted and wracked by Chaos, howled exultations towards the burning sky as they ran pellmell around the craft, looking for their foe. Around and above them, more craft came down, some making better landings than the first craft, while others didn’t. The ground shook as a pair of landers collided four hundred metres above the ground, a sun-flare of exploding plasma energy lighting the sky, even as the beings on the ground laughed at the misfortune of the two pilots.
Away from the tumultuous landings of the drudges of the invasion force, a more orderly, but no less mixed procession of landing craft came down from the atmosphere. Beetle-shaped Devourer Dropships and blunt Tetrarch Heavy Landers, their hulls pitted and scoured by attrition, came down in a oblique pattern. Their landing was much more organized than the pirate landers before them, each craft settling down heavily but safely on the ground, each craft displacing almost it’s full weight in dust as it settled. Engines thrummed down as landing ramps clanged open, disgorging their charges; rhomboid forms of Leman Russ, Malcador and Chimera tanks trundled down ramps, followed by Basilisks and Sentinels advancing in to the landing field to make way for the infantry behind them.
The advance of The Lost was just as tumultuous as the arrival of their reaver allies, but the organization was plain to see. Soldiers dressed in mustard yellow greatcoats and iron armour jogged out, squads followed by platoons then by companies then by battalions, wide brimmed helmets bobbing above gasmask covered faces. Through internal and external voxes, officers barked orders and directions to groups while figures in ratty and rotten robes stalked between them, croaky voices singing out praises to the god of death and decay for delivering them safely.
Almost unnoticed in the landing, seven smaller, but no less deadly craft swam through the air. Armour plating the colour of rotten green and rusted brass, six Thunderhawks and one Sokar Pattern Stormbird came to land away from the messy landing zone, their veteran pilots making an easier landing than the others who came before them. Their engines were spinning down, the fires fading, as a detachment of traitor guardsmen, forty strong, ran towards the seven craft. Armed with lasguns, bayonets affixed, the soldiers fanned out in a single file line, an honour guard for those who had left honour behind them a millenia ago.
This really just came out of nowhere, but this is an attempt at an idea of how my Chaos Space Marine force, The Children of Carrion, would probably arrive on a planet for a full scale invasion, minus some support like Titans and Renegade Knights which would need specialist landing craft to get down from atmosphere.
