The UK is (probably) stuck with Boris Johnson until at least 06 June 2023.

BoJo won a vote of confidence among Conservative members of Parliament. But the margin (59% to 41%) was not exactly an overwhelming show of support.

Under Conservative Party rules, Johnson cannot be challenged again for another 12 months. But this vote demonstrates that he currently has the support of just 211 of all the 650 members of the House of Commons.

The PM is safe for now – but the vote is hardly a ringing endorsement

As rebel MPs determined to oust him are likely to point out at the earliest opportunity, those 148 rebels dramatically outnumber Johnson’s working majority of 75.

While they are not a coherent group of zealots, of the kind that ultimately saw off Theresa May over Brexit policy, his detractors do share a set of concerns they may now feel emboldened to pursue more vocally – including by withholding their support in the voting lobbies.

Some are irked by the fact the government is on a trajectory towards the highest tax burden since Clement Attlee was in power.

Others have spoken out in recent months about the illiberal nature of Johnson’s government, which has become more marked in recent months as he tried to appease the right wing of his party after his position appeared under threat in January.

Meanwhile, though, Johnson is likely to continue to face low-level guerrilla warfare from disgruntled backbenchers, of the kind that ultimately made May’s life in Downing Street all but impossible.

So for the time being, Johnson is safe – but the outcome is anything but a ringing endorsement of the man who led his party to a crushing electoral victory, little more than two years ago.

This party vote of confidence is not to be confused with a House of Commons vote of confidence.

Boris would have to promptly face the voters if a majority of all MPs voted to bring down his government. But this probably wouldn’t happen as Conservative MPs wouldn’t vote against their own hold on power and they certainly wouldn’t want to trigger an election in which Boris Johnson would be the electoral face of the party.

People need to give more recognition and credit to the writers because, yes, Maya and Noah did an excellent job portraying Robin and Will and the struggles of being queer in the 80s but it was the writers who created these characters.

Robin's coming out was an amazing scene, Maya deserves all the praise in the world for it but it was the writers who wrote it.

Will was planned to be gay since the pitch.

It was the writers' and the Duffers' idea for Robin to be a lesbian (that it was Maya's idea was a misunderstanding).

Maybe the representation isn't perfect (that the word lesbian or gay isn't said out loud but f-slur it's in season 1) but the writers are trying, they care and that to me means a lot.

I think my favorite part abt the brackets is that we're on round 3 and there is still absolutely 0 agreement over what a sexyman is. They don't have to be a man and it's unclear if they should be sexy. Is it actually an insult to be called a sexyman? Possibly! What's the distinction between poor little meow meow and sexyman?
