thoughts™ about sparrow under the cut if you're interested!

I've been thinking about how Sparrow fits into Faerûn outside of the immediate plot. First I thought, well, maybe another bard NPC to flesh out her backstory? and then i thought...well...there's a perfectly good one right there for me to steal...AND Sparrow has a type that Volo fits it a T (bearded, dresses well, eloquent speaker, belongs to mystra).

I imagine that they met 10 years ago, hit it off immediately, and decide to travel together for a while.

On the road, Volo shows her all kinds of fun monster stuff which she thinks is nasty but she loves a man with passions, and it awakens her taste for adventure. Sparrow catches feelings and wants more than the FWB ~situationship~ they have going. She conveys this one night in song (as you do when you're a bard). Volo's real weird about it because he didn't think this would happen with her.

Volo's kind of a deadbeat (I think he has a son floating around somewhere?) and seems like he's always looking for the next new thing. I imagine that he'd hear of some monster he wants to go look at, and decide he's going to kill two birds with one stone and leave.

So, he leaves the night shortly after her little love song performance. Packs his bags and just skedaddles. And she wakes up alone.

In a cave. In the rain.

Surrounded by monsters.

He left a note, but, like, still.

She hasn't seen him in the 10 years since, so like...throwdown time.

And Gale x Volo. I am being 1000% percent 1000 serious about it and I need you to understand it is because they are both each other's worst nightmares.
