Julian’s really bold putting snarky words in Agnes’ mouth about Louisa May Alcott when he’s literally in the midst of filing the serial numbers off a Lucy Maud Montgomery plot for his main audience surrogate character and doing an inferior job of it.

I wish I didn't worry so much about not being seen as a serious artist/writer bc I have a kinda cartoony style and a writing style that's more sacastic than eloquent. Like who cares. I personally enjoy things like that more than "serious" media so like surely some other people do too?? And like I mean like if someone is derisive about it like... ok they can just get over themselves?? Like. It's camp.

I will say it time and time again, even if Scotland were independent politically it would still be on the island of Britain geographically, so though people are perfectly entitled to use whatever term they like, it cannot be said that Scottish and British are mutually exclusive terms (as they could, perhaps even should, be in Northern Ireland).
That being said the vastly archaic term North Briton makes me cringe so hard even in a nineteenth century context, it’s hard not to assume they’re using it ironically

Hi, Neil. Love from India.
I was reading about victorian literature for my exams and I came across this paragraph according to which Dick Turpin was the name of one of the original characters of Harrison Ainsworth, the Victorian novelist. I was wondering whether this is how you named Newton's car in GO or is it all just a coincidence?
No, Dick Turpin was a real person. He was a highwayman. Ainsworth was using a real person in a pseudo-historical context.

18 for the book ask?
18. do you like historical books? which time period?
What a great question! My instinct is to say yes, but when I think about it, most of the historical novels on my radar are things I’ve been meaning to read for years and consistently passing over in favor of other things (Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Essex Serpent, The Woman in Black, etc).
I definitely enjoy books set in the (long) 19th century—basically if it takes place 1830-1920 I’ll probably love it. I also enjoy British murder mysteries from the mid-20th century, although it’s definitely the reputation for top-notch mystery that interests me and not the time period.
